You are not old. I started riding in 74. I have 3 bikes in my garage. And ride as much as I can. Remember you don't stop riding because you get old, you get old because you stop riding! Cheers guys!
From Leo: Thanks for all your postings, they have been fun. Iron butt does not need a special motorcycle, but a Large fuel tank helps. The bike only has to be dependable My first one was when the speed limit was 55mph. It took 22 hours on a Yamaha XS 650 twin. That was tough even for a 30 year old. All the rest were on Kawasaki Concours bikes that have a 7.5 gallon tank. They were all around 15-1/2 hours. Take asprin before you start, and stay hydrated. After 6 hours, you go into a zone and the rest is easy.
XS 650!! You’re an animal! I want to ride the concours. My buddy has one and loves it. You’re right. After a few hours it was just a ride. Miles didn’t even matter.
i always liked driving at night for the same reasons. so peaceful. FYI shutting off AC and rolling down the windows to save gas is a Myth . you save way more gas with the windows up and AC on. it was an episode of Myth busters. in these times of high gas prices that is vital knowledge lol. good vid
At 16:31, Josh standing on the bike gives me a good idea of what I must look like on the 790 Adventure doing that on I-75 often... hah! I've ridden/driven thru Sumter many times on the way to visit my grandmother in Sharon, SC from the Aiken area(Got a speeding ticket or two as well). Love riding thru all the rolling hills and farmland at night, just gotta watch for the deer!
Great trip so far. You guys banged out 980 miles of the boring stuff. Get a good night's rest then really enjoy the few hundred left in the hills/twisties. Not bad on the fly planning. I never heard the term "Iron Butt" until over this winter. It's 1000 plus from home here in Winnemucca Nevada to Sturgis and I usually leave right after work. 12 hr. day/ night shifts. Headed out Wednesday morning for Bullhead City Arizona River Run, Google says it's 607 miles on a new route for me. Normally it's 565 miles. I try to go a new route every trip/ rally I attend. 2018 Electra Glide Ultra Classic/Geezer Glide Ultra Couch.
I had a blast on this ride even if it was the boring stuff. One of these years I’m going to make it to sturgis. About 1600 miles from us. Enjoy that couch of a ride my man!
I remember going to games at Fulton county stadium as a kid. Then the first game me and my dad went to at turner field when I was 9 right after the old stadium was torn down and it made me shed a tear looking at the old stadium in a pile of rubble being trucked away.
No matter what generation Wing you’re on, (Gold or Silver), if they are in good mechanical shape, they’re made for eating the Hwy miles. There is no question in my mind. Funny thing is, some folks are under the impression that you can’t ride cross country unless you have a new bike. Totally bogus thinking!
Yeah she settles in nicely on the highway. I loved every mile. I’ll admit though: I’ve e never done long trips on an older bike. I wasn’t that concerned
Nice video. That was a long haul. I have some high energy moments and then some low key moments as well. I need to do more trips. Or, I wanna do more trips. 👍
Just ran across your channel! I have not done an Iron Butt, but, want too! I do however ride most every day at night. I'm in Pensacola, FL and work a second shift schedule where I go to work at 2:30PM and get off at 11:00PM. I actually feel safer riding home than to work most days!
Sold my C10 Concours recently, and getting the itch to buy another touring bike. As for the trading card thing, we used to trade Pokemon cards as kids in the early 2000s, but I rarely saw that kind of thing going into my teens.
Pokémon was definitely after my time, but my sons were really into them! Concours looks really fun. I just feel a little too forward on one. Fast as hell tho! Cheers 🍻
Good-Day! Mr.Branch enjoy your video's, I've been having a real difficult time finding how to register for the Iron Butt Challenges. Can you give some suggestions on how to find that INFO. Thank you for your contents and posted. Have a Bless Day.

@@UncleBogator yeah not far,if y’all are ever interested there’s some good mountain riding here in northeast Alabama,Chattanooga Tennessee & etc.thanks for the reply
How does the air pressure work. I have the same bike and mine is 30psi on centre which shows 45psi off centre stand sitting on it. Is yours 25psi when sitting on it and around 10psi on centre stand? It’s baffling
Question for you, I just got an Iphone 13 pro max because my xs max camera got toasted from being mounted in a phone holder on the bars of my bikes. Not sure if it was the harley or the kawasaki klr 650 vibrations that killed it but just curious if you or anyone else reading the comments have had problems with the vibration killing iphone cameras? I use a ciro wireless charger mount on one bike and a ram mount wireless charging mount on the other. cool video by the way!
Apple and Samsung have both stated vibration can damage the cameras in the phones from motorcycle vibration. I use a the ram mount with the vibration damper works well. Also the wireless charger. Hope that helps

What I enjoyed about this video Mike is the two old Honda's doing it with no problems. Great video looking forward to the next.

I cannot believe that the gem of "sacridelicious" was in your video and not in Josh's video. Excellent vid on the road trip.
It was pretty clever! Thanks my man
Thanks for taking us along for the ride, Mike. Nothing beats the open road!
Man we had a ball. I loved every mile.
Ying Yangs from the Wang riding old Hondas, a beautiful thing. Good stuff! Looking forward to the whole series!
Appreciate it my man! We had a ball out there.
Really enjoyed the trip man! 30 minutes of ramblings felt like 5 minutes, only the master rambler can pull that off. Great video!
Lol at least I’m good at something!! Cheers my man 🍻
Nice one Mike, loved it - feels like we got to come along for the ride. Looking forward to the rest of the trip.

I looked you up after watching a Shadetree video and you became one of my favorites to watch. Good stuff.

Me neither my man!
That silverwing is very reliable had one mine got about 55 mpg would cruse 70 just fine not sure about 80!
We were rocking 85 most of the time. He had take it to the limit playing the entire 18 hours.

I worked with a guy who grew up in Sumter, and was also a huge Yankees fan. Did they have like a farm team there or something?
Depends on how old he was could’ve been a Bobby Richardson fan. They had a Braves farm team there years ago.
@@UncleBogator I should’ve known that, I’m a Braves fan. He’s probably 45ish, so that’s probably it

MPG 27 his 500 silverwing will outdo you on fuel, I ride a gl1500 1998 if riden 65 will get 40 mpg.
MPG sounds tempting! 75 was probably the most comfortable on the trip.
