Too much theories and assumptions can sometimes be dangerous. Different sorces claimed that Siddis were taken to India as slaves, mercenaries, domestic workers, body guards etc. There are lots of contradictions in various sources with different opinions. If some Siddis living in India still retain their Afrikan cultures, norms abc values. What is their Afrikan names, language and tribal identity? That would make it easier for them to trace their Afrikan routes. What most people don't understand is that before Arabs, Portuguese and British set their feet into Afrika's soil, Afrikans were also travellers and sailors. Some migrated to other places because of war and famine to look for abetter life. It is not always to do with slavery.

Absolutley! The Andaman Island tribe or Sentinelese tribe have been in India for over 50,000 years. They are said to have evolved a natural immunity to malaria. They also refuse any contact with outsiders. The idea that Afro or African people "only" arrived via slave ships is an antiquated and false idea. People in general are a very curious breed, so it comes as no surprise that all men since the beginning of time are natural explorers.
I am in agreement with the African "mulit-path arrival theory" in India.
1. There was trade between East-Africans and the "Sind" or now Indians, that predates known slavery periods under Omani-Arabs.
2. India history confirms that their kings would hire armies from East-Africa for their fighting skills.
3. Those who went their as merchants and armies integrated and dissolved within the Indian population, as some Siddis are found in the entertainment industry.
4. The land of Zinj, being an account of British East Africa, its ancient history and present inhabitants - book online describes a lengthy interaction between East Africa and Western India.
There is far more non-bondage interaction between Africa and India according to sources. Infact the bulk of the Zinj(Black) slaves taken from East Africa tended to serve middle-eastern demands. This is until the revolt of the Zinj where 2.5million were slaughtered for rebellion. There is debate on the composition of Zinj(African) and Sind(Indian) Slaves among the 2.5million holocaust.

Please could you do something about one of the most famous of the Siddis in History, Malik Ambar. He was a 16th century from the African country of Ethiopia who became a military leader, prime minister and Kingmaker in a region of India. A tomb was erected in Khuldabadad in India which attracts tourists to this day.

They are talking about their ancestral origin. Nowadays many people are seeking for their roots. There was a time in America when Americans whose ancestors were taken there as slaves, were called Negroes. In order to be more appropriately identified as other races in the, "melting pot", they insisted on being identified as African Americans till today. So it will not be wrong to call the said Siddis as African Indians even if they were born there.

There is always a first. I'm Jamaican too of African descent and for your information I had mentioned that reality on Bongo Jerry's program on Bes' 100 Fm two years ago! Since then, the knowledge has been spreading. Perhaps others had done so before as I'm not taking any credits but of course a lot have awakened to know that reality of our African brothers and sisters who like the Maroons had carved out societies in both India and Pakistan for over 500 years and more? It's so important the necessity of history in schools that is not only geared to local interest but also to involve all Africans home and abroad or where anyone of our melanated kinds exist. Not all dark skinned people from India are of African descent. The original Tamil Nadu people are indigenous peoples and not Africans. The other people are also Indus Valley civilization peoples. There are certain groups living in certain villages etc. who are of African descent but no one calles them "Afro Indians"". Until perhaps now, with the attention being paid to this subject.
