For those looking for more info on Hamilton, here's a link to his website: www.hamiltonpinheiro.com/en/main/ I will be compiling his long suggested listening list as a PDF file to link on my website to post in the next day or so, but here's a copy of his short list: ALBUM/ARTIST Elis & Tom (Tom Jobim and Elis Regina) Samambaia (Cesar Camargo Mariano and Helio Delmiro) Passarim (Tom Jobim) Ao vivo em Montreux (Elis Regina) Angelus (Milton Nascimento) Brazilian Serenata (Dori Caymmi) Festa (Rosa Passos) Bosco (João Bosco) Song for Maura (Paquito D'Rivera and Trio Corrente) Corrupião (Edu Lobo) A voz e o Violão (Djavan) Noites de Gala, Samba na Rua (Mônica Salmaso) Chico Pinheiro (Chico Pinheiro) Todos os Sons (Raphael Rabello) Zimbo Trio (Zimbo Trio) Tamanduá (Hamilton de Holanda) Ouro Negro (Moacir Santos) Many of these titles can be found on RUclips. Each person can search for the ones they want, but I'll add a link to the first one, since everyone should definitely hear it: From there, happy exploring!
Thank you very much! I have had some idea that the two styles are somewhat different, and have been playing many times kind of between them.. Playing two half- notes in two-feel is very difficult to do, as you instinctively want to add more embellishments easily where they do not belong...
Such a great video. Thank you for posting this. The Brazilian approach examples were counted in in 4... would a Brazilian musician have counted them in in 2?
Thanks! In Brazil, they would definitely have been counted in 2. If I was the one counting, then it was just habit based on my musical upbringing; if Hamilton was the one counting, then he was obviously corrupted by his two years in the states getting his masters! Seriously though, I think Hamilton would be the first to say that it doesn't matter how you count it as long as you are able to feel it in 2. :)
@@chrisfitzgerald8356 Haha. Excellent. Thank you again for probably the best structured, authoritative and articulate music ed video I've had the pleasure to see. I hope some day to see you do one on Cuban bass styles.
