@@AskSebbyI’d love to see a video about maximizing points for travel from small and medium airports when one doesn’t want to go the repositioning flight route
The companion pass gets slept on, I think because luxury/aspirational travel gets so much attention, but for families and budget travelers it brings a ton of value. I haven’t even touched any of my UR/MR points in years but we travel a few times a year using our hotel keeper cards + companion passes.
The problem with Southwest for me, despite being at a semi-hub (RDU) is that none of the directs are to vacation destinations. They all go to cities you’d go to for a conference, a wedding, or a funeral and that’s just not enough usage.
I think you’re absolutely correct. I only fly about 6 times a year and my daughter is a lap infant so I’m not flying economy if I can help it. If I were younger and single with more flexibility I’d be all over companion pass
✈️ I am meeting a friend in Amsterdam next week. We are road tripping to Aachen, Trier, Luxembourg, Orval, Bruges for Christmas markets and beer then he flies out of Brussels. 1 stay is AirBnB, the rest are all points redemptions at Hilton and IHG.
Sebby! Long time fan of your videos. I got my Gold Amex last year and I love it. I wanted the Amex platinum but I don’t fly. I do plan on going on trips next year. Should I apply for the Amex platinum this year or next?
✈️Loved the companion pass. I’ve been trying to cancel my SW priority card but it’s been twice now that they waive the annual fee. It’s so hard to put all my spending on that card. I love my chase preferred and thinking about getting the sapphire or venture x 🤔
✈️ Just acquired the Amex Platinum a few days ago. I am half way through the required spend and have used almost all the credits for this year 💯 I will see if I can hit the deadline $8k spend EOY 50/50 shot
1. Not a big Southwest ✈ fan, but will be getting the Alaska card for their companion pass. 2. Downgrade the Regular Platinum to Gold (already have Schwab), cancel the Business Gold. 3. Las Vegas for Christmas, FHR at Four Seasons for $255 + 3 nights at Elara.
Paris Christmas markets are ok but Munich’s is much better. You can take a train there in about 8 hours. Go ice skating by the Eiffel Tower, that’s a fantastic experience! ✈️
✈️ I really want/need the gold, even though I can’t get the SUB now. still think the grocery/dining multipliers are well worth it. Our flights on SW are usually cheap enough and only once or twice a year, chasing the companion pass seems like a lot of missed points somewhere else for something that might only get used 1x
✈️✈️✈️ 1. I live in capital of Wisconsin, and Southwest doesn’t fly from our fancy airport unless I drive more than an hour to another airport. 2. American Express is really trying to get me the platinum card and upgrade from my gold card which I downgraded from platinum because I stopped trave for work and I still don’t see the value in paying that much also, with one toddler and one on the way I don’t see myself traveling too much in the next few years, so I don’t think I can take advantage of any of these cards.
✈️ trying to do a Christmas/NYE with points and miles from DC to MCO to Barcelona and back to DC with my 8yr old son yet confused on how to maximize and spend less. Wondering about getting a Capital One card. We fly for lounge access
✈️ Grabbed the Amex biz gold 150k offer today. Heading to South America at the end of the month hopefully on United Polaris if award availability opens up🤞🏽
Great video! Would you recommend getting both SW cards in December or can I hold off one until January to go for companion pass? Pros and cons of applying for 2 cards in December.
✈ I love the idea of the Southwest companion pass, but I'm trying to only apply for business cards right now to protect my Chase 5/24 status and I don't fly Southwest very often. Maybe I'll think about at the end of next year
It seems like December is only "best" if you can generate the 8k spend in 1 month. If you were to attain their sign on bonuses one at a time, then you'd probably want to start 5-6 months prior to January. The main point is that you want to work backwards from January when figuring out when to start getting both bonuses.
✈️ Thinking about getting one of the Delta SkyMiles credit cards but I’m on the fence because of the changes. Also not sure if I should go with the gold or platinum card 😅
Sebby or other folks, I’m looking to grab a 3rd card. I currently hold the CSP, CFU, and Amex BCP for 6% groceries. I’m torn between the Flex to complete trifecta or hotel cards. Trying to keep a low annual fee profile right now. Any advice is appreciated!
I would consider the Southwest Companion Pass if I weren't working on my Chase trifecta at the moment. Also, wasn't Southwest the airline with all of the delay backup problems earlier this year? How does everyone feel about their service now?
Hey Sebby, great video. Do you think Amex will have any new rules before the start of 2024 that I should be wary of before I apply for a new credit card from them?
I'm still a fan of the Venture X w/ the travel credit. Calculator here to crunch the numbers: www.asksebby.com/credit-card-reviews/capital-one-venture-x
well the 2nd year on will be a problem with AF. $95. Unless you consider 2 lounge passes a credit. Whereas Vx is like $0. I thought about Venture also since they denied me for Vx because of too many accounts. Heard from some youtuber that C1 offered him an upgrade promotion to Vx with pretty good bonus. I might try this.
🛫🗼 I currently have the Southwest rapid rewards Plus set to renew in Feb. I have a small business and can apply for the business card. But that'll get me 85k from the bonus + spend... What's the best approach for me to cancel the personal card or Would I have to wait 2 full years to apply for the rapid rewards premiere personal card to receive a bonus? Or does that not apply since it's a different card? Other than referrals for 20K in points. How else should I consider achieving companion pass for early 2024?
✈ Hey Sebby, love your videos. I currently have 1 personal AMEX and 1 business AMEX card. The trouble I have is every time I try to apply for any AMEX cards, I keep getting the message of death saying I'm not eligible for the sign up bonus. I've never had those cards before and I spend a minimum of $500 each month on my existing AMEX cards for the past half year and have 750+ credit score. I'm super perplexed why I would not be eligible for any of AMEX sign up offers. Could you please let me know your thoughts?
✈ My family and I are going to Asian next month. Was thinking of opening a new CC to put all the spending on, Any recommendations? Between the family, we have Amex Plat, Venture X, Chase Sapphire Reserve.
On the Hilton Honors for the clear plus credit it says calendar year would that mean if I got it this month in December I could use it for myself this month and then in January could get another credit for my wife? @askysebby

Agree! SW Companion Pass is great for families and budget travelers.

Got the companion pass for a year and saved loads of money. Applying again now cuz the points are even more and will have the pass for almost 2 years
@@tylerdracingsame. RDU. Can’t find value with SW
🛩 I just upgraded my AMEX (I love the Skymiles and intend to use my companion flight next year) card! I'll be traveling in a few weeks!

✈️…I enjoy your content. I secured the Amex Platinum last night. Excited to use the credits. Keep sharing the knowledge.
✈Thanks sebby. I was trying to explain this to my friend the other day.
Glad it's helpful :)
🛫 I love double-dipping the Amex credits. Definitely makes me feel better about annual fees.

✈️ awesome video as usual
Platinum Amex needs 2x pts on all purchases if they’re gonna keep going up on yearly fees
I applied for the chase hyatt( after denied 2 months ago with an 810)- I was denied again with a 750- recon’d and approved for 8k!
✈️ should be going to the Cotton bowl in Texas to watch my Mizzou play my hometown Ohio State. Then going to DC for New Year's

✈️ working on a 75k Amex BBP SUB. Good video.
I will probably be downgrading and switching around Amex
✈️
Thinking about getting one of the Delta SkyMiles credit cards but I’m on the fence because of the changes. Also not sure if I should go with the gold or platinum card 😅
Get gold first. If you do platinum first, you might not be eligible for the gold SUB in the future if you decide you want both (new Amex rule)
Sebby is it true that the Venture X is no longer offering Priority Pass to AUs?!
I was * literally * thinking this question
Sebby or other folks, I’m looking to grab a 3rd card. I currently hold the CSP, CFU, and Amex BCP for 6% groceries. I’m torn between the Flex to complete trifecta or hotel cards. Trying to keep a low annual fee profile right now. Any advice is appreciated!
Any updates if we think Amex is going to keep the no SUB for the Gold Card for current Platinum Card holders?
Does hilton aspire resort credit refresh on calendar year or membership year

Do you get a ton of cards recently? By Amex standards, $500 isn't much spend.
Do you think the bonus will increase after last call for southwest? Or is 75k the highest we can expect? ✈️
If the goal is Companion Pass for 2025, then yes it is the last call. Outside of that, hard to predict.
✈️ Why companion pass? 🤔 I fly solo. 😏
✈ My family and I are going to Asian next month. Was thinking of opening a new CC to put all the spending on, Any recommendations? Between the family, we have Amex Plat, Venture X, Chase Sapphire Reserve.
With that setup I don’t think there is a card I would recommend. Your setup is great.
Yeah, that was what we were thinking as well. Wasn’t sure if there was a card that we should could get since it would be easy to meet in min spending
