Thank you for all your pool videos.. we are about to buy one of these same pumps. Our pool came with the same ole junky pump and they are not the best.. Your videos are soooooo helpful!! Thank you again. Definitely subscribing to your channel.
I'm so glad I could help you out! I hate those stupid cartridge filters. I figured if I wanted to ditch it and get a sand filter then others would too. Thanks for watching!
I did eventually. Originally I left it but leaves and such kept getting caught and blocking it up. I also busted out the plastic cross in the exit tube down to the pump. Hope that helps!
I wrapped the male fitting with a few layers of Teflon tape and then clamped it down good and snug. Worked great. Thanks for watching and good luck with the pool!
My sand filter is smallest Intex Krystal clear sand pump. It doesn’t have a strain basket before motor just a catch in pipe. So should I keep the strainer in or can I buy a basket that will fit? Appreciate your help as I do not know what I am doing but as a single mom I am trying.
Definitely keep the strainer plate in the skimmer to catch leaves and such. If the inlet to the pump becomes clogs you will have low flow back into the pool. If u notice that pop the hose feeding the pump off for a second and the back pressure will clear the clog and you can pop it right back on. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!
I'll post a link to it. I bought it on Amazon. That particular one is unavailable currently. The important part is that you have 1.5 inch lines between the pump and pool. The pump can be whatever you can get your hands on as long as the hoses will clamp up to the summer waves pool. www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07G2FGDKY?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
Hello i wasnt able to see inside your skimmer, my question is after you upgraded to a sand pump did you remove the original motor off the skimmer? If so is there a lid that replaces the hole left after motor is removed? Thanks in advance, i will be installing an Intex 2800 GPH sand pump since my motor is not working properly :( I'd rather invest on a sand pump :) any advise much appreciated
There is a video that details installing the sand filter and installing the cap to replace that motor. Take a look at my summer waves pool playlist. Also in the comments on the install video is a link to the cap you need on Amazon. Hope it all helps and thanks for watching!
I see there is no ac cord coming out of the Summer Waves pump. Have you taken the pump out to increase flow to the Intex pump? Thank you for the video!
@@monicamartz6276 I did get a solid cap for it as the pump is part of the cap that comes with it. There's a link to the cap in the video description to buy it from Amazon. Thanks for watching!
I've a 16 inch sand filter upgrade and when I use the vaccum plate I suck in air and it won't suck/vaccum. When I hooked the hose directly to the pump same thing.. ??
Did you purge the vacuum hose before you hooked it up? I put the head underwater and hold the other end up to the pump discharge until no more air comes out of the vacuum head. Then make sure you keep the hose underwater and connect it to the adapter plate. Make sure the water level is high enough that the plate is underwater too. Hope that helps!
Before u turn the pump off empty the screen in the skimmer. Also make sure your float flap (door thingy) is installed the right way with the foam to the outside of the pool. Hope that helps!
Thanks! I'm glad you've gotten some use out of them! Here's a link to the valves I used. Hope your project goes smoothly. I am so glad that I found your videos! Thank you for putting links to supplies in comments!
Glad I could help! A sand filter is the way to go on these pools. Happy swimming!
Great job man.... Taught me a few things that'll def help me this season with my pool
Awesome! Glad to be of help! Taking care of the pool is a chore so the easier the better. Lol. Thanks for watching!
That's a great system! I wish I saw your videos a year ago. We bought a Coleman pool and it doesn't have the skimmer basket. 🙄
That's a drag. The skimmer makes life a lot easier for cleaning, especially vacuuming. It's been working well for us. Thanks for watching!
great video man, so helpful i am going to buy this cap adaptor for tje skimmer to the vacuum hose, thank you
Awesome glad it helped! The pump powered vacuum is far superior to junky net and garden hose action. You won't be disappointed. Thanks for watching!
When you converted ur skimmer pump to the sand filter did you take out the pillar from the summer waves pump out ?
I did eventually. Originally I left it but leaves and such kept getting caught and blocking it up. I also busted out the plastic cross in the exit tube down to the pump. Hope that helps!
I have the same pool and filter, having issues connecting the return from the filter to pool did just putting a hose clam work for a long time?
I wrapped the male fitting with a few layers of Teflon tape and then clamped it down good and snug. Worked great. Thanks for watching and good luck with the pool!
Thank you sir

Need to know where and what pump you bought if posible to make that pump upgrade you have

Just bought the small sand filter set up, what setting is the 6 way on when you are vacuuming?
I always vacuum on the regular filter setting and then back flush afterwards. Hope that answers your question. Thanks for watching!

I did indeed remove the original pump. Makes life a lot easier. Thanks for watching!
Did you order a different cap under original motor or use the one that comes with it
@@monicamartz6276 I did get a solid cap for it as the pump is part of the cap that comes with it. There's a link to the cap in the video description to buy it from Amazon. Thanks for watching!
I bought a vacuum basket attachment that goes in between the segments of my hose and it catches everything before it goes to the skimmer.
Those are pretty handy for sure! Thanks for watching.
Super helpful!!!!
Glad I could help!

What cap is on the bottom of your pump to remove the factory pump?
There's a link to it in the video description as well as the pump and valves. Even comes with some Teflon tape. 👍
I’ve got mine hooked up and it works but all the bugs that get pulled into the skimmer goes back into the pool when I turn the pump off?????
Before u turn the pump off empty the screen in the skimmer. Also make sure your float flap (door thingy) is installed the right way with the foam to the outside of the pool. Hope that helps!
where did you get the vacuum and what brand is it?
I believe it was from Amazon, but may have been Lowes. No idea on the brand but the vac head types are pretty universal. Hope that helps!
Hey what size hose hooks to that adapter?
I believe it's all 1.5 inch if memory serves me.
I have the same vac but I lost my psi after how do I get psi bk.should i do a backwash
Yeah the pump is restricted. Backwash it well and it'll go back to work. Thanks for watching!
Thanks 1000000000
Right on happy swimming and thanks for watching!
Your videos have been super helpful! what's the Model of the valve you added? The link would be appreciated.
Thank You!!!
