I thought the same way too, but after playing Dead Space and Persona 3 Reload i'd like more if they tell the same story, but add more things. I would't like to play the same story AGAIN with nothing new added to the lore.

They probably want to make sure the game is extremely polished before revealing any release dates. Making promises and not being able to fulfill them would make fans upset.. It's also a very important title, so I'm glad they're taking their time. Compared to RE/Capcom tho, their team is probably a lot smaller as well. Despite what some people say, I'm very excited for the game! Unfortunately nowadays people will complain about everything, so it's better to try things yourself instead of listening to critics and complaints.

As a fan who actually played the game back when it first came out on PS2, I think this remake looks fantastic. So long as it’s just an OK game, I’ll be happy.

I know Downpour was not very liked by many for valid reasons, but if this remake will have new side quests, I'd like them to take the Downpour approach, where you won't be notified of any objectives or be given objective markers. My point is, SH: Downpour executed side quests well, IMO.

I have a feeling that they will release it in October, close to Halloween.
I think the biggest difficulty this remake faces is to find a solution that will appeal to a wide audience. Its gameplay will be compared with other big TPS-games by some consumers and therefore considered not good enough. While old fans will compare it to the original and nitpick every detail considering it not good enough as well.
Personally I will be carefully optimistic. Most important is aesthetics. The combination of environmental design and music/sound will be most important factor for me.
This is a reboot, and not even close to a remake so, yeah. Watch the video about the importance of fixed camera in silent hill, and you will understand. Look at the environment comparision too it's lacking claustrophobic elements like never before. It's washed out, and it looks like plastic too. Bloober is a joke

@@bombastik_bomb im not comparing the games, my point is that a change of camera doesnt mean that this remake is going to suddenly be a failure, in fact one can even argue that a change to 3rd person perspective may be beneficial because it will enhance immersion and strengthen the connection to playable character. Not only that we dont know if the camera will always be 3rd person, maybe they will use different styles to recreate some of the iconic shots from the original.

I grew up playing games in the ps2 era of gaming so SH2 was a huge game for me! I’ll never forget the first time seeing pyramid head across the blocked gate door with the static going crazy I was like “what is that?” I like what I’m seeing with the remake so far!

There is no need to worry about it now. Just wait till you actually play it.
If you can't see how awful the remake looks like from the original game then you just like reboots (this is a joke calling this a remake, the story is similar) but the game isn't claustrophobic anymore. There is so much light eveywhere that I don't even understand why would we even need to use the flashlight. The fog is nonexistent also. Look at the appartement in the orignal and compare it to the remake. Changing James personality completely. Changing pyramid head which is supposed to be a dirty rusty bloody butcher to a white man with a pyramid on his head.
This is a reboot, and not a remake. Bloober hasn't respected the source material at all which was already perfect. Better graphics doesn't mean to change the environments, and characters personalities.

I see fog. I see dark places. I haven't seen all of it, so there might be claustrophobic places. You have light controls.
And we also need to think that those graphics from the original game were pretty old. So, of course, it's not going to look as bloody as it was originally. I'd say it's a remake cause it's the same puzzles, same story, same characters, and same monsters. But modernized.

For it's time SH2 & SH3 had amazing graphics so, I still cannot understand how you can say that it could be hard for a company owning big dollars to upgrade the original locations with today's graphic engines, but yeah the gaming audience changed to accept ane have low expectations about games. The only company that respects its material today is Rockstar even if they milked the f out of GTA V, and capcom especially with the RE7 come back. Bloober has no knowledge about how to create fear in a human, only Layers of Fear was mid, and "fine"

I'm blanking on what the actual puzzle was but you can see the door open and the white dress inside which is around where you find the flashlight in the OG in the woodside apartment complex so one of the puzzles there unless it's something new.
SL1 needed a remake far more than any of them. Reeks of cash grab on their most popular title. The fact that they started with SL2 will keep my skepticism high until it is released and prove me wrong.
They’re using it to promote another garbage movie that’s being released. It’s from the same director as the first one, UNFORTUNATELY.
I’m beyond excited to get back into the world of Silent Hill. The second game is a classic and I’m definitely buying the remake day one. My hope is that it’s good enough that it convinces Konami to remake Silent Hill 1 and 3. I fully expect the game to release this year, at least by October, 2024. That’s my theory. They might target the release specifically for the start of fall, with it being a horror game and all.

I love the cam angles and controls of the original. I hope that's an option. A fan made a mod for rez evil 2 remake that keeps the old static cam angles, and the Tomb Raider remasters have the option to choose b/t the badass make perfect sense older controls to the newer ones. And fans of both are thrilled.

I'll take a good combat system as bonus if anything, it could be a 1:1 RE2 system or not, I don't care too much about it, I just want them to nail the story and, again, atmosphere.

Hopefully the animations are polished by now and look nothing like the combat trailer. The graphics even looked downgraded in the second trailer but it might be because of the heavy compression on the video. I really didn't like how the nurses vault over walls and objects. I really hope this game isn't bad. Konami needs to get their shit together and release a real good quality trailer similar to the first one and give us an in depth look at how the game looks and plays. Also, I doubt the May release rumors are true because they haven't been marketing this game well enough to drop it in a few months and also, the Korea ratings board rated the Short Message a year before it came out, so that doesn't support the theory that the game will release soon.

Do yourself a favor, and just play the original PC port + Enhanced Edition mod.
Preferably start with the superior SH1 on Duckstation though.

The fan community are going to hate it. They have not been happy with anything SH2-related since the base game released in 2001, so there’s no reason to think they’ll react differently today.

This game has to look at least like Pine Harbour, if this is lower than that, what a fail, in that case Konami should hire that team to make this remake. My big issue with this game is the advertising concept of Konami, WTF happen, only two trailers, not even a gameplay yet. My guess is, we are in presence of a movie game relationship, similar of what they did with Homecoming, and SH1 movie, they want to wait for a trailer of the movie, then release another game trailer. Risky move, but hey, this company even make pachinkos with their ips. A pachinko of SH2 movie probably is on the way.

the original creators from team silent were japanese and i feel without that "japanese" touch the game just won't have the same feeling as it did....its like the difference between ju-on and the grudge or ringu and the ring or rec and quarantine that being said those remakes weren't too bad ....i wish i could play it, god knows why it's ps exclusive, it's a damn shame im sure thats not something the devs want.

All the resident evils are completey different games.. and yes even re4, ff7 remake, persona reload, yakuza, and the list goes on. The question is what did you think was going to happen? ya praised every remake that stray drastically from the source material so far.. why would any game company think remaking the game as the original would work?

As much as I love the original, it’s my favourite game of all time, I’d still prefer tank controls removed (which they obviously will be). Graphical upgrades, zero story changes, no tank controls, enemies a little bit harder to account for no tank controls, and that would be perfect 👌

It looks a little…idk low budget indie team starting to get that hang of things…like outlast 2 almost feels AAA but it’s noticeable it’s not…

I am, hesitantly very excited for it. All it really had to be is re2 remake except melee combat and I’m golden. In terms of story nothing will ever touch the original SH2. Idk if they screw that up. I’m just here for what a modern re-remakes inspired silent hill could feel like to play.
Maybe it’ll become something I run through 12,000 times over like re2 remake or the ps1 resident evils. Sh has never really been, incredible as a repeatable deep survival horror. Super lame that this isnt coming to Xbox at all. I never beat SIlent Hill2 back in the day and I want to replay it soooo badly. I was so excited when they announced this back in 2022. Hope it comes to Xbox eventually soon.

SH3 has the same issue of RE3, they were very short games, the issue with RE3R was that they did exactly the same, but with a much shorter story, WTF Capcom.
SH2 was never that short, even Ito said the game was more extense, but they had a hard time programming on PS2, that means the remake is gonna add all that delete stuff.
I will be happy and upset at the same time if SH comes out in May. I was expecting it to come out in winter. In May i will be busy gardening and renovating the house. I already got a lot of seedlings growing up indoors to transplant them outside in May-June, plus wholr bunch of trees, berry shrubs. Oh, and i need to set up a wooden playground for my kids. Also, we were going to get chickens this spring. Need to build a coop for them too. Seriously, spring-summer is the worst time for me.

They’re making it for new people to get introduced to Silent Hill, not necessarily for old fans so it doesn’t really matter what the fans think. Also the game isn’t even out yet and it’s too far in development to “just cancel”.

Went on amazon. Found Konami Silent Hill 2 Playstation 5 and it says This item will be released on December 31, 2025. Not sure if its just the ps5 one but yeah.
That's just a placeholder for games when the retailer doesn't have the official release date yet. The game will likely come out in the next few months, if not, definitely by the end of the year

People really saying they want an exact replica of the original but nah, I would not want to play the same story 'exactly' as there are awkward flaws in the original story that can be done better, especially the 'Tommy Wiseau' voice acting.
