Maybe a silly question, but here goes. Could I use these successfully with my Google pixel 8 another very recent Android equipment and still have all the functionality of the unit on Android. I've been an Android devotee since the Nexus phone line.
I rarely find earbuds I can comfortably wear for more than an hour. As far as pure comfort in my ears, somehow the standard plastic AirPods are still some of the most comfortable for me. Maybe because they rest in my ears instead of squeezing into my ear hole
I also am the same in terms of fit on earbuds. I will say that the Bose open ear buds are comfortable but they will not work well of course on a plane as they dont have noise cancellation but I now find I use them a lot more due to the comfort.
I agree. I've always used gen 1/2 airpods because I can't stand the ones with in ear tips. I just picked up these 4s with anc. Its pretty impressive how well the anc works. Also the confort is much better than the 3's but only about 90% of the 1s and 2s.
I do not understand why anyone would be surprised at this. I have the AirPods Pro 2 with USB-C and the ANC is fantastic. I use them when cutting the grass and I cannot hear the lawnmower at all. Apple AirPods Pro 2 are one of the best at ANC and now they have brought it to the AirPods 4. Cant wait to see your review when you’re allowed to put it up.
Is there any sound quality difference between the 129$ and 179$ variant?? Or its just the ANC and wireless charging?? Nd how do the 129$ compare to Airpod 3???
Wonder when a new version of AirPods Pro are coming? I know they are adding new features to the current gen but they aren’t all-new like the regular AirPods this time around.
Exactly the pros from 2023 are really good and are a great improvement compared to the 1st gen pro and I used to have the 1st gen now I’m on the second gen AirPods Pro way better I say apple should make a new AirPods Pro at least 2 years from now the 2nd gen really shined and brought new things like swipe up for volume on the stem so yeah
This is awesome news. I hate in ear buds. One thing that I think will make these even better are some after market silicone covers like I have had on all my other Apple Ear Pods that make them almost impossible to fall out even while exercising. Can’t wait for the full review!
Never had anc before and its crazy even just not listening to anything it makes everything so quiet and peaceful lol, take them out and its a crazy difference. Didnt think it would be that good at all.
Looking forward to your full review. I ordered the 4 with ANC within minutes of the event ending. I love my Airpods Pro 2 but I have some real trouble with the ear-tips so not having to have those will be a killer feature for me.
Are the AirPod 4 with ANC just as good as the Here one? What I miss in every ANC pods since the Here one, is the cancelling of all noise but one. Like you only hear the announcer on the train/metro. And the focus listening with the pods of one person with all persons around you.
Hi Caleb, During the full review of the Airpods 4 with ANC, a comparison to the ANC Airpods Pro 2 would be greatly appreciated to better understand the extent of the ANC the rubber ear tips make. Wonderful content as always. Hope to see the full review soon.
most important is how good is sound quality/ how loud one needs to listen coz it's a open earbud as bluetooth open earbud tend to do poorly on sound level having to raise the volume high to get good enough sound quality but that will cause ear pain & headache. companies tend to focus so much on ANC ANC ANC as with so many they tend to forget sound quality is still the most important though. seriously I don't give a shit about ANC for me sound quality is first second is does the bud fit well ?
I have the airpods pro 2, they are amazing but i also wanted another alternative witouth the silicon tips, so i bought the airpods for with anc on amazon for 138 dollars.
Great to hear! These are exactly what I’m looking for right now (I hate silicone/foam tips). I remember Samsung attempted to do the same thing with the Galaxy Buds Live (The “Beans”) and it was god awful and absolutely useless.
I am so excited! I can’t tolerate the silicone tips, my ears are so small that it hurts while they’re in and essentially eject themselves almost immediately. I’ve literally switched to only using over ear headphones. So excited to not need to bring ginormous headphones through the airport!
I am more in the Samsung ecosystem than Apple's. However, I've been having a problem with earbuds with silicone tips. I purchased some Raycon buds last year, but every time I used them, I ended up with contact dermatitis inside my ears that would persist for a week after I removed the buds. I had the same thing happen with the most recent Samsung Buds. I didn't have this issue with the original Samsung Buds. Maybe I should try pairing the Earpods with my Samsung S24 Ultra. They work with Android phones, right?
All versions of Apple Airpods released to this day work with android or PC laptop (although there is no android or PC app), so the new Airpods 4 should too. Raycons are quite bad - watch some reviews that mostly state those are very overpriced for the mediocre quality you get. Not long ago Samsung released Galaxy Buds 3 (without "pro" in its name), so probably ideal solution for you, as those don't have eartips just like Airpods 2 or 3, and work with android perfectly. The other brand you may want to look at is Soundpeats and their Air 3 and Air 4 models. Watch some youtube reviews and see what you like.
Not on par with the Pro 2s with sound quality due to the driver size. However I haven’t used my Pro 2s ever since I got the OnePlus Buds Pro 3s. They work great with iPhone and the sound quality along with microphone quality is superior to the Pro 2s.
Interested in hearing the review. Still not sure if this would help me. I have the AirPods Pro 2 and they are great with noise cancellation. Problem was on my last flight my right ear was in agony during the descent and I am not sure if it’s because of the closed ear with eartip thing or if it just a coincidence that the pressure built up in my right ear so badly. I really want a more lightweight new version of the AirPods Max but that didn’t happen.
I thought I recognized the album in the background! Oscar Peterson Great Connection, right? The cover on mine, however, is green! I can’t tell if yours is too?
I have a surprise for you, you can get a pair for £17 the ones with the wire attached which plug into the usb c Thant means you get better sound as its not over bluetooth so you get lossless audio - also to block out sound just turn the volume up - you can also take call with them on , unbelievable I know.
Because I have girls gone wild in the 90s blown out ear holes I have to wear tips with my AirPod threes. So they already block out some sound, looking forward to the new models.
doubt its gonna be any better than airpods pro 2, they have same chip, and its apple after all, they will just change a few minor things, not redesign the whole thing
Honest question: what would it take for you to not feel the need to ask that question? Also, my answer is: I was genuinely surprised. I still am. And you’ll learn more out of my review, if interested.
The old classic, if a reviewer makes positive remarks - they are a corporate shill. Because the idea of Apple making a tech advancement that is impressive is just hard to believe? Troll
Thanks... it's never really the sustained plane noise for me, how about the 8 random babies crying continuously from 5 rows front and back of me!!! How about the anti-baby feature!!!! LOL
an open back headset will be a nice additional to this collection You have some people who just use it at home and it gives you a wider sound stage what do you think about USBC wired to get lossless audio and Bluetooth at the same time, Glad I don't have to rely on Apple for that
4 hours battery life with anc and in 2 years later probably 2 hours battery life with anc where as the new google buds 8 hours with anc, you probably can go to sleep with them, they are that small. everyone should wait for the reviews of the new google buds
The Google buds stick out the side too much and will dig into your ears if you try and sleep on your side. Plus the pressure from the wings will make your ears tender. The airpods line is the only one that I found I can tolerate when sleeping. The battery life on these is a bummer though. I still have my first gen airpods pro
I have an interesting idea, when the new airpods pro come in the early 2025 the airpods pro 2 will have a price reduction, which means it will definitely be lesser than 190$. So, choosing these for 180£ is a hard thing to imagine.

How’s the ANC of the open-ear Samsung Buds 3 (non pro) compared to this? It’s the only other open ear with ANC that I know of.
I second this.
There's also the Huawei Freebuds 5 which looks really interesting. Curious to see if anyone's compared them.

Did they change the shape of the ear bud in comparison to the AirPods 3? Or is the fit the same? Thanks!
They did make some changes to them. I frequently heard complaints of the fit on the 3’s when they first dropped and it seems like Apple did too
There are so many versions and price points on AirPods and iPads it gets confusing which fracking one to buy.
