Note, I’ve now got a 2022 tour live version of this at this link. Sitting a lot closer for the 2022 tour, with excellent sound and video quality. Check it out! ruclips.net/video/vLHDN0Zqrts/видео.html
@Doug Lusk, While Rock Bottom is one of the greatest hard rock songs ever, I'd say Love To Love and even Lights Out are more deserving of being called masterpieces. Rock on 🤘🤘
Proud to say I was there that evening. Had to have a Pabst on tap at the Pabst Theater. Michael Schenker is one of the absolute best guitarists. Still rocks it out.
Lordy Lord - I am speechless. True wizardry and mastery - every note has TONE - and he never chooses speed over phrasing and note choice - he can play as fast as anyone needs to, but he governs it to the very highest level.
Been in awe of this guy since 1977 when I found out about him and since I saw him at the Atlanta Agora Ballroom (October 10, 1978), a few weeks before the Ron Nevison gem SITN was recorded in Chicago. He has not lost a thing. He has changed it up a bit, but jeez, who wouldn't. He is still amazing. Hope to see him soon for a third time...(saw him on this tour). Still a legend. Still amazing. The lead on this song is likely the best lead ever written for a hard rock song...cannot think of anything that compares.
My favorite guitarist is Michael Schenker!! when i heard the live version of Rock Bottom I off U~F~O s Strangers in the night album I was so blessed To hear such great guitar playing by Michael Schecker and I was only 11 years old!
He has always been absolutely exceptional, one of a kind, he gets lost in the flow of the melody, he invents in the moment new licks and phrases but everything is so perfectly balanced, he experiments, everything goes far but always comes back to the main line and it sounds so clean as a classical symphony, it looks like he's playing something he wrote that way not a solo with variations born instantly on stage ...Genius guitar God 🤘🤘
Thank you for sharing this! I live in Milwaukee but regrettably missed this show. I grew up listening to Michael and took for granted how amazing he is. So glad he’s still performing and I hope that I can see him live.
I don’t think that Michael has played this solo two times the same way, but it is always brilliant because a guitar is just an extension of his body. His guitar can just put into sound what he is feeling at any given time, which is why Michael is one of the best ever. I have been a huge fan of his since about 1977 or so when I first discovered UFO. As a young guitarist at the time, I just couldn’t get enough of his playing. It’s a shame he has had such a rocky career because of substance abuse, he could have been even better, if we can imagine such a thing? I’m just happy he has made a comeback and I hope he has put all of his demons behind him, so we can enjoy his music for a while longer.
I sure hope to see him! I have been listening to his work since I was 13. He wrote Rock Bottom when he was a kid. Played it with U.F.O and he actually wrote his older brother Rudolph's band Scorpions 1st album when he was about 16.
I remember very clearly when this was Brand New, my Best Friend and I both bought it over the weekend and when he picked me up for school Monday morning we were both like “Man you gotta hear this”! ROTFLMSAO! Damn I’m getting OLD!🤣
Proud MSG fan since first hearing them in 1982. Saw them in Palo Alto, CA in 1984. Snuck in on a fake ID. Have seen him MANY times since. Met Michael in 2015. Saw them again in 2018 in San Jose, CA. Only a couple hundred in attendance. Several dragging green oxygen tanks. It’s a trip to see fan base age like that. 🤦♂️
Después de haberlo escuchado miles de veces, no deja de emocionarme. Gracias Michael. No sé tocar la guitarra, si supiese, me gustaría que sonase con sonido MSG.
@@MrJohnnyDistortion Seems like yesterday. maybe 10 years ago. Robin McAuley was singing. Also saw Michael maybe 2 years earlier at the same place with Gary Barden singing and Carmine Appice on drums!
Depois de 30 anos tocando essa incrível música, até eu que não sou músico tocaria sem olhar para as cordas. Tipo bater penalti: nunca errei um! (Garay, admitamos.... O cara é bão demais!). Inesquecível...!
Yep your dad was right, ive seen him with ufo, scorpions, msg over the years and he is kin amazing and im 58 had a poster on my bedroom wall of him with an all white V when i was 14, next to the White Lambo Countach
And you just reminded me of when MSG played Keystone Palo Alto. Glad we went. Just like this show but in a club. At the end I witnessed a Guitar God. Built to Destroy.
Love him too, but poor Paul Chapman never got the credit he deserved either. Following Shenker was brutal but the 3 Albums he played on were great, No Place to Run the best of the 3.
He works that Sweet Spot in and out ...oh.... .up n doun . .....ahh..... .n all around. . so well ...works it . . works it .... Antarctic organic .....climactic volcanic..!!. 🗣ROCK BOTTOM....🔥
I grew up in an age where you bust your ass for something. Including guitar players. Today its all cut and paste. Bands sound sterile. Players like MS are still the best guitar players in music. He has a killer guitar tone
Exactly , i grew up with zet from exodus , chuck & greggy from testament & phil from machine head , & me playing bass the 80s were tough yngwe , paul Gilbert , joe sat , tony mac alpine , you ask any of them about what michael did for them , he needs to be in the hall of fame " SERIOUSLY !!!!

I've seen Beck, Page, Blackmore, Clapton, Vai, Satriani, EVH, and many more. For me, Michael Schenker was the best of them all.
Ditto!
MS one of the great's guitarist of all -time, this is his masterpiece!!
Too bad it's only 20 minutes long I never get tired of it🤘
@Doug Lusk, While Rock Bottom is one of the greatest hard rock songs ever, I'd say Love To Love and even Lights Out are more deserving of being called masterpieces. Rock on 🤘🤘
Schenker. The living legend. Still fabulous.
Proud to say I was there that evening. Had to have a Pabst on tap at the Pabst Theater. Michael Schenker is one of the absolute best guitarists. Still rocks it out.
Saw him in a small bar in Dallas in 1984. Was INCREDIBLE. wore that leather jacket the whole time. Awesome.
THIS is how you play Classic Hard Rock! Michael just 'has it' and what a guitar tone! Great band with him! RIP Ted McKenna!
Lordy Lord - I am speechless. True wizardry and mastery - every note has TONE - and he never chooses speed over phrasing and note choice - he can play as fast as anyone needs to, but he governs it to the very highest level.
Such a great tone. Could listen to him solo for days. Never gets boring.
ya know i mention his tone to folk all the time and theyre like huh? guess you gotta be a guitar player to really get it
its goddamn addicting!
Can't get enough of watching this guy play lead. Truly amazing!!!
Michael and his pals are genuine and pure old school rock and roll
Hall of fame " NOW !!!!!!!
The list of musicians he has inspired is phenomenal " seriously !
The master at his best! Just awesome to hear and watch him play his Flying V. He's a legend and can go on as long as he wants on any of his songs.
MS is one of the all-time greats.
Holy moly! Best Rock Bottom solo ever!
Check out Augsburg (sp) Germany from 2012. That solo is relentless.
The Strangers In The Night version is the definitive Rock Bottom.

Your assessment of his playing 100% accurate.

Sensational! Absolute guitar god

It was amazing as always!
凄すぎる。
数あるスーパギターリストの中でぶっちぎりのギターリストだと思う。
日本にはこのようなギターリストは絶対にいないね。
ABSOLUTE LEGEND 💪

Glad to see him once at least back in 2012,what a player...
"THE" guitar players player hands down!
Very exciting solo
What a fantastic sound !
20 minutes! Most players are done with a one minute solo. Schenker is God.
Proud MSG fan since first hearing them in 1982. Saw them in Palo Alto, CA in 1984. Snuck in on a fake ID. Have seen him MANY times since. Met Michael in 2015. Saw them again in 2018 in San Jose, CA. Awesome video!!! From an I-phone- Ha! Love it!! UFO ROCKS, and this is undisputed proof! Good stuff!👍🎸🎼🥁❤️
Después de haberlo escuchado miles de veces, no deja de emocionarme. Gracias Michael. No sé tocar la guitarra, si supiese, me gustaría que sonase con sonido MSG.
Legend Rocker. It is good to see him with Robin again. The best MSG vocalist ever
Terrific Schenker jam love it !
That's a bad ass guitar player. Saw him with UFO WAY back in the day. Life changing.
Maybe the best ever
He is legend
When UFO came out way back when I thought who is that guitar player and I've been a fan ever since.
Got to see UFO in 1977 or 78(can't quite remember) during the Strangers In The Night tour in Chicago. Glad i didn't miss out.
Michael is 66, was the lead guitar player for UFO in the 70's-80's. I've seen him/them twice in the LBC.
Killer Tune!!!!
That man rocks
Well..Patriot place Foxboro Ma. A place called Showcase Live. I stood 2 feet from Schenker . Best show of my life!
When was that show?
@@MrJohnnyDistortion Seems like yesterday. maybe 10 years ago. Robin McAuley was singing. Also saw Michael maybe 2 years earlier at the same place with Gary Barden singing and Carmine Appice on drums!

I spoke to Carmine once it the Chanell. He was gigging with Johnny Winter in think. Nice guy. Bought me a drink.

This is fucking amazing! Been following MSG since my dad said, "You've never heard of UFO?"
I'm 41 -- btw
Yep your dad was right, ive seen him with ufo, scorpions, msg over the years and he is kin amazing and im 58 had a poster on my bedroom wall of him with an all white V when i was 14, next to the White Lambo Countach

Hey I was there too, it's way better than great. He's one of the greatest players ever.
Schenker stops himself before making a mistake, like runnning out of frets, when he improvises and turns it into a magic spell.
KILLER version \m/
Simply awesome….
Aliás.... desde 1970 e lá vai pedradas..... naquele show com cabelos loiros compridos. Esse fera é bom mesmo!
I think Michael has overcome his stage fright
You know what I missed a concert I was suppose too go too !!it was like a state fair in Arizona !!!but I couldn't go causei got in trouble
Although in the top 3 guitaristes on this planet,RIPN huw Lloyd langton ,he has never bettered the version of this song on the lights out album.
Schenker is having a great time here.....
power of legend... Greated😊😊😊
Grande malha,Michael Shenker arrasa,tal qual o irmão,Rudolph, nos Scorpions,durante tantos anos!!!
u.f .o es una de las mejores Bandas del ROCK Son de los Angeles California de America 10:41
That track is like no way .heavy classic riff melodic solo from the gods. The whole band is kicking ass. Try the studio version please.
Michael was never a follower, only a leader. He tutored many Rock Hall of Famers.
What a legend MS would of liked to see him jam with the late Edward Van Halen RIP
Amazing 🎸 🎸 👍 👍 👍
OK LOVE. to LOVE...
Schenker〜. Come to Japam!
We all are want you!
Just fucking awesome!
Always a UFO/MSG fan...Michael Schenker is GOD!
