I was in law enforcement. I had a small part in a case where a guy took his family to church one Sunday morning, then on the way home from church stopped and bought crack. Went home, got high and killed five family members. Chased one little girl to the kitchen holding a tv remote and killed her there. Offender was a small framed guy, every time I’d walk to his cell to get him, he was holding up pretending to read the New Testament. He was given the death penalty. But he shot all victims.

That many ppl in a trailer with no AC in a Ga summer, add illegal substances to the mix, nobody working so everyone is home all the time…. that was a disaster waiting to happen. When I was young I lived in a 2 bedroom trailer with 4 other guys in Houston Tx. We were all working different shifts including graveyards so we were always rotating in and out. After 6 months we all agreed this was not worth the money we were saving. Even though we were close friends we were at each other’s throats by the end.

To those wondering if there’s any significance to why the family seems to be buried in the back of the cemetery with no one else around them, it’s likely that the only spot that had that many adjacent plots that hadn’t already been sold. Remember, just because there are empty spaces between graves, it doesn’t mean they’re available - people have probably already bought them in advance.

I lived in Georgia from the early 1960s until my retirement almost 15 years ago. I can tell you from experience most of the smaller County Sheriff Dept's DO NOT have experienced investigators. They depend on overworked GBI agents to do most of this. Don't get me wrong, some of these counties have good dedicated investigators who solve a lot of crimes. The problem though is they lack the funds to do a lot of testing and the Georgia Crime Lab is overworked and underfunded. There is a community in Northeast Georgia about 30 minutes from my hometown that had their County Tax Commissioner made unalive in 1980. That investigation was sloppy. Several people were charged, but only the actual person who entered her home was convicted. There have been rumors for years that the jury refused to convict the conspirators because they felt like the wrong people had been charged. Not long after this, the long-time Mtn Judicial Circuit DA decided to retire. The previous Tax Commissioner was alleged to have been running a system of getting legitimate titles for stolen cars. Trust me, Georgia is full of these types of stories. This is why I am not a bit surprised this crime was never fully solved!

Even though I wasn't familiar with this crime, as soon as you said that property was sold to a movie studio, I knew it was in Georgia. I live in Georgia and see firsthand how TV/film companies are taking over locally and becoming the dominant industry here. It has something to do with a bill signed by the former governor, promising low taxes to tv/film producers, which has resulted in Georgia becoming 3rd in the nation (behind California and New York) for filming series and films.

@s9237That's just Tyler Perry. There are other shows and movies (that have nothing to do with him) like The Walking Dead and The Hunger Games that are filmed in Georgia. Our previous governor, Nathan Deal, got the ball rolling, and as partisan (anti-liberal) as our current governor, Brian Kemp may be, he wouldn't dare try to dissuade Hollywood from coming to Georgia because it would remove billions of dollars in revenue, which of course, would be political suicide for him. It's a lesson DeSantis failed to learn regarding Florida's relationship with Disney.

I doubt if you're going to get permits to tear down those trees
If you're talking about the future apartment complex, with those oak trees it's a really beautiful place but without it it would just be like yucca flats

I live about 6 miles from New Hope Trailer Park where this torrential TRAGEDY happened!! It shook out town for months. I knew a few of the Tolers personally.

Too bad the graves look so much better than the house they lived in. So sad.

Exactly there had to have been noise. They were not all hussled to one area and tied up. Someone surely would have escaped against 1 person.

@user-eb6bw5jn1y The land owner probably had them snuffed out, so that the land could be sold to the developers.

If he had an accomplice, he’s not going to snitch on them because then that would prove his guilt!
