This was an old train yard for a rr that only served Mc Donald steel. Thats why the tower office is there. They ran east from here over to another mill, I think, near Struthers or possbly Ohio Jct. Also the bigger building was there engine house.
You should always go down the steps of a locomotive backwards, like your climbing down a ladder! Safety first, or you might end up with a face full of ballast! LOL!
When dismounting the loco always face the loco and go down backwards never face first that can end badly. Also uuse both hands when backing down the stairwell. "SAFTY FIRST"
So that’s what became of some of Burlington Northern’s old E units that used to run on the (now) Metra BNSF commuter rail line between Chicago and Aurora. A shame.
Only some of them. The ones here were originally sold for a planned Commuter Service in Nashville. By the time it was ready to begin operations some much newer surplus Amtrak F40's were available thus making these redundant. When I lived in Nashville I remember seeing them stored stored near Downtown Nashville.
1985-88worked in Wheaton Illinois, go to Naperville curve watch the f7 coming round the bend, that front end... 563 Diesel sound... 👀never ever tired of 👀those F units, great post👍👍
This is a great video but I would like to say something to you and others, Don’t assume that you can be able to “hear and react” faster than a train at 5 mph, these locomotive ARE quiet, especially if you back is turned to them, I work with these machine and I Am Not Kidding when I say that these things scare the ABSOLUTE hell out of me, if anyone is working on or near tracks, keep on looking every few second, This will save yours and others lives, Please be safe everyone. I don’t want to discourage people from enjoying trains but PLEASE just be sure to always respect the rails and you can enjoy with your hearts content, I am advising you on being near tracks, nothing more Have an awesome day
Too bad some folks with the money can't get those Burlington Northern E8s and E9s out of there and restore them all. Once these classic cab units are gone - they're gone.
At 3:27 when they guys climb the stairs one says the cabin perhaps is a room used for switching. It is actually a weighing station/office...to weigh each freight car....common on all freight yards around the world, even here where I am in Australia.
I so recognize those ex BN, ATSF and even the BNSF EMD Locomotives which at one point where either BN or SF after the BNSF merger. I remember seeing them in action, in service. I can't believe they're sitting there now.
New subscriber from Port Saint Lucie. Florida. I also follow Roman's Milwaukee Roads , he covers Wisconsin and Southern. Good job showing us the yard. Gives me a meloncholy feeling seeing them left to rust.
w.c.l. F-45 should go up North to Green Bay, and the National Railroad Museum, because wcl serviced them here at the 100 year old Roundhouse of the C&NW. AND...Repaired for Mainline Excursions. Especially for the G.B. PACKERS and the Cheese Head fans, going South to the Chicago Bears 🐻 🐻❄. Because the PACKERS don't have Amtrak, and they are the Oldest team in the N.F.L. BUT...The Very Last passenger train was 50 years ago, with the C&NW "400" on Friday, April 30, 1971.
Of all the loco's at the yard I would like to see preserved, it'd have to be one of the BN Commuter E9's. Despite many of them being preserved the only one I can think of that's still somewhat in better condition and still in BN colors is 9912 (Don't remind me, I know far more about that specific unit's ''history'' than any sane man should. Just don't.) but ever since IRM repainted their unit into CBQ colors, as well as the other preserved units being repainted it sucks that there isn't any running examples of them just to preserve as a piece of commuter rail heritage. While I doubt all 4 of the units at Macdonald can be salvaged, hopefully whatever one is in the best condition can be revived using donor parts from the other units and kept as a sort of passenger heritage unit. That and I just think the BN cowl unit livery is cool.
That Larrys Truck & Electric LTEX locomotive scrapper in Oh.Bought parts up there for restoring Locomotives.A lot of neat engines have met the end of the line.
Would you like some fries with your shake? Jokes aside, good video, and good job getting in there, I've been into Lordstown before and it's not easy getting in
when i was first starting to go back there and hang out with my friends there were trains from the 30s with wooden floors and even old steam locomotives but that was 30 years ago
We need those B.N. EMD. E9A up North in Green Bay, for the National Railroad Museum, BUT!.....REPAINTED for the C&NW "400", ...AND...THE MILWAUKEE ROAD "HIAWATHA ", as two of the most World 🌎 Famous HIGH SPEED TRAINS 🚄 that used to race against each between Chicago and Milwaukee, then North to G.B. with the CNW 400 North to Green Bay and Escanaba and Marquette. And also the Milwaukee Road "CHIPPEWA" North also to G.B. when they would pass over each other at TAVIL JUNCTION, And North to Iron Mountain, to Ontonogan, and also to Houghton and Hancock with trackage rights on SOO LINE in the Keeweenaw Peninsula ; But sadly hundreds of miles of tracks were ripped off and made into nature trail for bicycles 🚲 🚲 , and forcing travelers to either drive 🚗 cars. Take busses, or else fly in airplane 🛫 ✈. And miss all the beautiful scenery of the Northwoods in the verdant pine tree 🌲 forests of the Upper Peninsula, and create new independent shortline Railroads that also used Steamers for Excursions. Happily, and Hopefully in the Near Future when gas and oil 🛢 suddenly disappear, then all the different agencies will see the vital need to rebuild the New Railroad tracks with concrete crossties and welded rails !!!!! HI IN April 2023A.D.
Such a sad video to see all these locomotives just rusting away and not being really useful :'( and you bringing up that UP somtimes shows up in Ohio well it was about 2 weeks, maybe a month ago in my small little town in Kentucky I saw a Canadian Pacific locomotive pulling freight threw my town. I was so shocked as I had never seen that railroad in person only online and pictures. Sadly it had to be the day I didn't have my camera on me lol
Sometimes locomotive frames rust out or crack, just likk cars and trucks, then they're only good for parts and scrap. It's surprising to see all this stuff sitting around rather than turned into cash. There's a lot of good scrap metal.
There's a lot of old DMIR trains there from what I could see. I wish I could purchase one of the DMIR engines but I don't have the ability to track it.
Strange all this stuff is lying around rather than be scrapped and get some money for it all. Too bad you didn't video the train that came through. One set of rails looked shiny so there's activity within this yard.
It's a "REALLY SAD" to see Locomotives that you saw 😢 at the time were "Getting Scrap" or waiting to be "Scrapped" , INSTEAD How about our Train Museums pick up the most popular Locomotives and REALLY do "Save Them" from the Scrap yard 😂 !!!!! 😊😊😊
I am guessing these two never watched railroaders work before. You ALWAYS dismount a locomotive by backing down the steps. If you get caught doing what they did, you'd get time on the street at a minimum. Every raroader knows that.
There is an active company working at the yard, but most of the trains are there to be scrapped for parts. LTEX is the name of the business that's operating there.
This awesome thing that you're doing but at the same time a sad thing to see, all those hard working train engines just sitting there rotting away to the elements 😪😪😪
Like your posts , however to many shots of feet and ground when walking. Could these b edited out before posting and would make for a more professional post
With respect, this looked like it was going to be great but it's completely unwatchable. Maybe you've improved since this video but if you've going to show the exploration of something, you need fewer random shots of dirt as you walk, and more of what you're there to see. You also need a wider lens and a steadier hand. A gopro perhaps.

I would go in there with a gas torch and cut the locos for scrap.
Well done guys it's nice to see young people interested in trains.keep it up,and respect 🙏 👍🇬🇧
You should always go down the steps of a locomotive backwards, like your climbing down a ladder!

Yep! Always face the ladder if you like your face!
What a great opportunity………thanks for sharing 👍
Fantastic sharing 👍
Best greetings from Switzerland 🙂
Awesome and sad at the same time. There should be a RR preservation museum in every state, it's a huge part of American history.
When dismounting the loco always face the loco and go down backwards never face first that can end badly. Also uuse both hands when backing down the stairwell.

I have videos of those running on the commuter trains in the mid 80s in Chicago. Used to be called the Burlington Northern Dinkies!!!

This was amazing. The etherial music paired perfectly with the atmosphere. Keep at it bro.
Excellent video thank you for posting

Many good points here, however this yard is rarely active and mainly is just storage. Most of the locomotives don’t run as well
Expect a train on any track from any direction at any time.
Getting some FO4 vibes at 3:30, watch out for ghouls!
Awesome video, thanks for sharing.
Too bad some folks with the money can't get those Burlington Northern E8s and E9s out of there and restore them all. Once these classic cab units are gone - they're gone.
I hate to see them going to hell.
Great video. When getting off a locomotive you should back down the steps, it's a lot easier.
Took the words out of my mouth.

Amazing Video
That grave yard of abandoned locomotives reminds me of Tillamook Oregon because the line is abandoned because of the 2007 washout.
Wish I had the $$$$ I would luv to restore them old BN E8's
This was a great explore!
The slag helpers I prefer to call them
drone helpers.....
I really think it’s neat how all I see is the camera looking at the ground, must be armatures
Possibly the best 18 minutes on RUclips. Thanks for sharing.
well done! keep up great work
Building was a scale house for weighing cars.

There's a lot of old DMIR trains there from what I could see. I wish I could purchase one of the DMIR engines but I don't have the ability to track it.
Thanks for the video. I plan to arrange a visit in the future with the owner. I always respect the rules.
Where is the place
i used to hang out there when i was in high school the factory has tunnels running all throughout the hill its built on
Someone save those e9
hope they can save the old f9s because there's not many of them left
Why not catalog SALVAGEABLE parts and put in storage to keep current rolling stock in service?
Interesting video thumbs up
I swore BN 9912 is there or known as for the locomotive who hit a woman while going over 50mph on the Racetrack
9912 is in Nashville
Strange all this stuff is lying around rather than be scrapped and get some money for it all. Too bad you didn't video the train that came through. One set of rails looked shiny so there's activity within this yard.
Wow.
Well I know where I’m going shopping for number boards 😂 lol
I Am surprised They don’t Have anyone to get a Big Tool box And skilllfully Take them Apart And sell The Parts for other Lines.
Where is this yard at?
It is in Mcdonald Ohio

Man this wan an amazing video. How did you contact to get permission? I have tried before but couldn't contact anyone
My friend got into contact with the owner of the place through email. It took a few weeks but we eventually got permission.
Would love to see some old Southern Pacific units

Also is this LTEX train yard abandoned or still in use??? Dose anyone still work at this railroad scrap yard??? Please let me know.

Where is this at I would live to explore the place
It is in McDonald Ohio. You will need permission to get in as it is an active company but you should be able to get access no problem.
Too much video of the lead man's back and they should have used a wide-angle lens.
They had permission to be in this place? My Ass
I thought u guys did a decent job, i enjoyed it, fk the haters
If you don’t mind me asking, how did you get permission? And is there an email to ask someone to get permission from? Thanks!
Old Santa Fe blue bonnets
what state was this filmed in ??
wish that wc cowl unit got saved.
Where is this At?
The green emd 😳
If you know you know 😢
9912 is in Nashville
At the beginning of video, there is a green train, with the flag of the US...is this who killed the woman, at 1991,on accident???
No that was a different unit. They do look similar but I heard it was the 9912 unit which this one in the video ends in a 7.
9912 is in Nashville
If anybody wants to go here, it’s called a Larry’s truck and electric it is in Girard Ohio
How did you get permission for this? Did you just ask or?
Wish I could go there and get those train horns if there are any left on them
👍👍👍❤❤❤🚂🚂🚂
Who did you have to contact to get permission to film in here? Would love some shots of that Wisconsin Central F45!!
Like your posts , however to many shots of feet and ground when walking. Could these b edited out before posting and would make for a more professional post
True but it’s kind of the point of these exploration videos
need steadycam or something.
Very sad!
I am a railfan
Ya wasted a lot of time and battery staring at the ground , looked like there was a lot to see , if you would keep the camera up ..
Interesting video, next time show the trucks without the locomotive on top.
LTEX…
I had to stop watching as I got seasick.
😢😢
What the heck is the point of this company! They have Amtrak p40s that could be saved but they have to be lazy and try to scrap them!
Great content, just a bit too much Blair Witch camerawork 😉
Difficult to hear you with the unnecessary music. Conversation was mostly nonsense.
all i see is a backpack.....

I got nauseous watching it. Too much walking and swinging and jerky shooting.
