    Thanks for the video! By the way, there are 3 notes I would like to share regarding some units:
    1- The Abductor has this funny name, because he can actually do exactly that. Just order it to load an enemy unit into it, and it will grab it! You can also use its EMP to facilitate this job. Then you can use your commander to capture it, or you can reclaim it using engineers/construction turrets/etc! Just make sure the enemy unit is not capable of chain-destroying your base, if you deliver it there... Important note: if you EMP and then abduct, the EMP effect will most likely have worn out by the time you unload.
    2- Decoy commanders can capture units just like your commander can. This can be useful in conjunction with the abductor, without putting your actual commander in risk. Abduct them, stun them with EMP after unloading, and start your assimilation into the hive mind :)
    I recommend putting the decoy commander on "Hold fire" mode, though.
    3- I learned a very cool move with the Liche (all hail the atomic bomber). Instead of just ordering it to standard attack (A + left click), you can Set Target with it, and queue some move commands (order it to go in, and out). The Liche will drop its payload, but won't dive down to do so. This allows you to execute tactical flybys. It's basically an automated surprise delivery! But very much atomic... :D

      You don't even have to unload the units from the abductor - you can capture or deconstruct enemies while still carrying them. You can also use other transports for this - I've seen a T1 armada transport stealing enemy tanks without any EMP nearby.

    u missed some spots tho , if u select a unit hold "Spacebar" to see its weapons and the dmg multipliers! there is all the balance ;) for example T1 Defenses ( Guard / Sentry ) have a huge boost vs commanders ;) and the Liche Atomic Bomber needs atleast 2 runs to kill a commander cuz it only has a 56% dmg multiplier vs commanders o7

    Not sure if you touched on the sharpshooter's ability to cloak but players can do that by pressing K. It drains energy. But sharpshooters + cloak + jammer + radar drone is a pretty fun unit. If enemy doesn't have LoS on you they can't even tell what's killing them or from where

    If you ressurect a unit does veterancy reset?
    Does all terrain (spider example) include water?
    Will amphibious tanks attack units that float and does radar detect underwater units?

    The Sharpshooters tab/commands include what looks like a toggle for "visible" And presumably "cloaked". The unit tooltip also mentions "cloak". I imagine it works like the commander's cloak and consumes energy
    Why didn't you mention this? Does it not work yet because I've never noticed anyone using the cloak for it

    • @BrightWorksTV
      @BrightWorksTV  Год назад

      ahh that's a really good note, it just slipped my mind! I actually have a video scheduled where this comes into play but long story short yes its exactly like the commander cloak where it takes a bit of energy standing still and a little more when cloaked but its incredibly powerful because you can move cloaked sharpshooters into enemy lines and RAVAGE their production with a few shots seemingly from nowhere. beware though that firing does drop its cloak for a few seconds!

      Hahaha welllll yes and no lol. There's an experimental structure called the pawn-cannon that charges then launches pawns across the map like a LRPC it's not "standard" though. For the experimental scavenger faction there's an epic stormbringer which is probably the super heavy bomber you're thinking of. Again not standard... But absolutely AWESOME

      @@BrightWorksTV thanks for the validation that I am not crazy. About six months ago I played a game and it seemed like there were a few new units, the ones I mentioned were the ones that stuck out to me. I know at that time I was playing around with the advanced settings and for the life of me couldn't duplicate what I did. I was searching last night for any reference to these units and came up blank do you know of any place that lists all of these units? Also what a great game, I got into computers by playing TA, just so awesome. Just need the TA soundtrack overlay.🤓

    @SurnameName Год назад +1

    as someone who got here from zero-k, it's interesting to see the unit overlap. aside from the shared models, it's also clear that some units were kept from back before the two games diverged so they exist in some form in both games. i haven't played total annihilation, though, so i wonder how much of it is total annihilation legacy and how much is balanced annihilation innovation from before ZK and BAR were separate projects

    • @BrightWorksTV
      @BrightWorksTV  Год назад +1

      ohh interesting, I've never seen zero-k gameplay but I know some of the folks on BAR that have been around those games as well often refer to some of the units by their old names. I actually picked up that bad habit accidentally just from talking with them so much hence when I reference mortys, pyros, peewees etc haha

    • @SurnameName
      @SurnameName Год назад +2

      @@BrightWorksTV that happens in zero-k, too. i picked up some old unit names from before i even played the game just because older players still use them
      anyway, as for zk and byar unit parallels i noticed:
      some units are super close mechanically: byar's jaguar is clearly equivalent to zk's blitz which used to be called panther which explains the jaguar name, though i'm pretty sure that one originated in total annihilation itself. same with zk's flea which was also called flea in total annihilation and byar calls it tick. byar's starlight feels very similar to zk's lance to me - idk if there's an equivalent in total annihilation or this was only introduced in balanced annihilation. oh, both games also have a recluse which works pretty much the same way in both games, just with a different model
      but you'll also notice some similarities in models rather than unit stats and mechanics - the liche and a lot of cortex bot models also exist in zero-k, though with different textures. and some of the energy infrastructures and static weapons are clearly based on total annihilation designs
      you made beyond all reason look pretty interesting i have to admit. maybe i'll check it out some day, though zero-k seems more like my cup of tea at the moment, with a few important game design differences making my preference skew a bit towards zero-k. byar definitely seems like the game to try if i feel like playing something other than zero-k though

    I feel like the biggest failing of TA, and many of its derivatives to include 0Kelvin,and BAR, and Rusted Warfare, from a design standpoint is simply having too many units, with not nearly enough differentiation in capability. Supreme commanders biggest improvement was clearly differentiating unit roles.
