I keep hearing Tywin which I think is so ridiculous. If anything he’s more like Jaime before season 3. I do think he needs to get knocked down a peg or two . He might not be slimy like Otto, but I don’t think he’s this badass everyone trying to make him out to be. I will add both characters are fascinating to watch the actors play them so well.
Finally someone who sees Otto as the snake he is not Daemon. Daemon actually is honest and cares for him family. Hightower got rid of Daemon and obviously has his own plans for the throne, including making his daughter become the new queen.
I hate to come across as an "enlightened centrist", but I honestly think they're both pretty horrendous people with some redeeming qualities. Not just them either, basically everyone in the story is a deeply grey character. Part of what I like about this era of ASOIAF history is that even more than Game of Thrones, supporting anybody comes with a LOT of caveats. For me, I found it pretty difficult to properly support anyone.

When Daemon was shown, he showed affection for his family (whispering to Rhaenyra how her father needed her in this time of mourning). When Otto was shown, he was pimping out his daughter to improve his families position. Daemon may have acted like an ass, but remember, he was the heir to the throne, from the most powerful family - very hard for anyone to grow up in that position and not act like a primadona in some regards.

Otto couldve pulled Viserys aside and told the King in private about what Daemon said. Instead Otto said it among the council cause he knew the King had to display his power in front of everyone or risk looking weak, which is something Daemon wanted to prevent from happening if Viserys allowed him to stay. Edit: Maybe Daemons 'brutality' is his way of trying to help his brother in ways Viserys lacks in doing. Daemon is probably aware of the pressure the King is under to uphold the peace and Daemon is using the gold cloaks to uphold it, although not in the most pleasant manner such as cutting body parts lol
I agree with you on Daemon. I think he was extremely loyal to his brother and his family. Much more than Otto Hightower. Still not over Otto sending his very young daughter to the king’s bedroom. One thing is for sure about Daemon…you don’t want to be on his bad side. This is going to be an interesting first season! So excited!!
I haven't read the book, but I roughly know the story this is based on, and I'm very curious how they're going to handle it. It's a story with a lot of grey morality; a number of detestable people who people will love to hate, but very few straightforwardly heroic characters like Ned Stark or Jon Snow for people to cheer for.
Its a brutal scene showing the parallel from rheanerya and her mother convo that said childbirth is the woman's battle in this world. And to cut back and forth between men battles and woman's battles in those times. Also, did you notice the shape of the joust arena? what does it look like to
I noticed a thing where they kept cutting back to the bloodshed in the tournament and back to Aemma giving birth.. I forget who mentioned it in GOT but someone said it was bad luck to spill blood on your nameday... Might have been Margaery to Joffrey I found those two scenes together were foreshadowing imminent doom for the baby.
So enjoyed your honest reactions, knowing nothing about the story line and not having read the book - the book is much more dry and bare bones, literally a history book. Prince Daemon is a complex character, to be sure, and I think we are all looking forward to how this plays out. So wonderful to be back in this world again and looking forward to your future videos.

I think the whole thing with the king having a cut in his back from the throne is because its designed like that as "your not meant to be comfortable as the king". Just my take on it could be wrong lol

Always my favorite reactor when it comes to GOT and now HOTD. Everyone knows these shows are graphic and there’s reactors that are sensitive to the point of not watching or skipping scenes and then go off on a rant about how the violence or C section in this case aren’t necessary. I’m not trying to downplay the gruesome nature of the show, in fact it’s often used to show the brutal weight of different situations. If reactors can’t handle that or have to add a 15 minute speech at the end about abortion then perhaps they shouldn’t react. Thanks for keeping it real, watching the show with us and always having good insights.

I have such horrible feelings towards S8 of GoT. It feels rotten. But this show feels good so far, feels nice to be back in the universe. A good strong start.

I’m wondering if your observation that Daemon is someone who will stab you in the face rather in the back might actually apply to another character as well that I hadn’t considered Ser Christon Cole, during their battle Daemon turns his back on him when he is on the ground and celebrates, Cole then gets up and strikes him from behind, leading to him beating Daemon. A lot of reactors were expecting Daemon to attack Cole from behind after yielding, but he did not. I’m wondering if our valiant Ser Cole may not be as valiant as he looks at first glance.
I love Daemon’s character, he is fascinating. I think he has two sides, light and dark... He is most in line with the Targaryen family As for the Prince who was promised, I think it will be John Snow, in the series they will probably reveal to us a part of this prophecy (a secret that every ruler should know)
