The Mavs had to bid for Kyrie to fix their mess and ended up paying a whole lot more for an older player. But probably for the best for both Brunson and the Mavs. Brunson is better off at NY. Luka seems to enjoy playing with Kyrie more than he did with Brunson. Kyrie seems happier at Dallas than he had been at Boston and Brooklyn.
and i think brunson would not flourish in dallas, he needed to be the number 1, tho i remember going through that season where luka had no help and bruhh we missed him so bad😂, glad brunson found his home though

Brunson is still a quality player. The knicks would have gone further had they not been riddled with injury. No need to put down a player just to prop up the Mavs. The Mavs recovered quickly from losing Brunson and got Kyrie (a more skillful small guard) so both Knicks and Mavs are in a better place.
