  • @SewerTapes
    @SewerTapes Год назад +96

    It looks enough like film. One of the better emulations I've seen for sure. It definitely alleviates that overbearing un-stylized video look too many indie movies have these days. Great job. This will help a lot of people.

    • @ToxicTurtleIsMad

      Not a single "motion picture" looks like this. This, like any other "film emulation" looks like a hipster home movie.

    • @SewerTapes
      @SewerTapes 10 месяцев назад

      @@ToxicTurtleIsMad
      By "un-stylized video look", I'm talking about movies like Asphalt Angels or Rise of the Black Bat (the first two to come to mind available on RUclips). Basically, movies with some distribution shot poorly on consumer quality cameras that just look like home video. Granted, those movies typically have a host of other problems aside from the look. I'm not comparing this to any film emulations from any studio you've readily heard of. All that said, "hipster home movie", although clearly used as a pejorative, is a fair description of the final result.
      My personal favorite film emulation from a recent movie people have actually heard of is Netflix's They Cloned Tyrone, which is lightyears ahead of this.

    • @Bocsaphoto
      @Bocsaphoto 7 месяцев назад

      @@ToxicTurtleIsMadserr profile matched a bunch of cameras to make accurate luts. He did his own test shots with film to get to create the luts. So in a sense, it’s accurate to his film look, but may not be accurate to the film look you have in mind. Remember, there is no singular film look, because there are so many creative variables in the film processing pipeline.

    Great stuff! One small tip: I saw you were using a CST to go from LogC to Cineon gamma. If you’re converting one log gamma to another always make sure to disable tone mapping in the CST. The tone mapping feature is when you’re converting from a log type to a display type gamma.

    why is it when you click with mouse on one of the nodes "wb or labscan or split tone" that you do not get automatically transported to the section in davinci where you can further tweak things? you are assuming I know where "wb" or "split tone" can be adjusted. I just sit there clicking on the node and nothing happens. So I have to research where i need to go to adjust. Why is it forcing you to do an extra step?
