I never understood the attraction (sic), Crabb isn’t entertaining, displays no real intelligence, is by and large boring and has no comedic skills. Just an ABC political jurno hack that got to host a couple of not very watchable or memorable shows. I saw her on insiders recently and she lived up to my expectations. As a general rule, if she is on a show I switch over.

My theory about the mainstream media's continual bashing of citizen journalism and new media (like yourself on RUclips, high profile podcasters and PRGuy for example) is that people quickly realise how disgustingly easy it is to do a reasonably decent job covering topics like politics that the MSM have to bag it. Because then people won't discover what a shit job the MSM do with all the access, money and brand recognition they have.

i recently talked to people doing double degrees or minors in communications and journalism, and they all fucking hate it, think it is a waste of time and money, and is incredibly shallow and dumb.

In my first ever uni class (Journalism as a major) our lecturer told us about her first job post uni - lying about being related to a victim of a serious crime so she could access the hospital & get the best angle on the story. That level of morally bankrupt absurdism was the norm then & it’s only gotten worse.
I was in a journo minor in 2014, the seeds were being laid and I was too young and too unfocused to notice and do something about it. By the time I realised, all those folks I went to uni with had been working for the Murdoch Mafia for five years. The keys were wound up and they were let out to play.
The point close to where I quit doing journalism at uni was after a mouthpiece for the press council gave a guest lecture, and admitted under questioning they were toothless tigers. No power or desire to enforce so called standards, they all dance to the same Murdoch drum.

I've lived here my whole life and whenever he talks about a journalist or radio presenter from another state I usually have no idea who it is, so don't feel bad. The Eastern states are like their own country.

If you look at their actions from the good of the country, it appears stupid. If you look at their actions from the angle of getting votes or keeping their end of a corrupt deal, the actions make a lot more sense.

I started studying media and journalism after I finished high school. I found out without the editors approval (who is paid by the top news outlets- all owned by Murdoch, Packer and Rinehart - or other conglomerate merger media companies of billionaires).
I was very disgusted with the nature of the profession as I had long wanted to become an investigative journalist. (Such as yourself).
I’ll have to pick your brain on whether you are versed in academic journalism or you are naturally exceptional at investigative independent journalism.
The idea of journalism being a profession at all has been debated since the 19th century. It's hard to see what body of knowledge a professor of journalism is passing on. These days 'professional' just means you get paid for it.

Would have liked it, but I know some journalists at the ABC are working hard on serious subjects, and hearing all of the ABC smeared with Crabb's crap. Crabb is appalling as are some others, true. Sometimes I wonder whether the ABC are forced to run some of the worst progs as a deal to get their funding.
Even Shaun Micallef is having a go. Just watched 1st episode of his latest season. There's a skit towards the end where Herve Jimmy (character is clearly based on you) is having a go at Hollie Hughes.
