The closer it tastes to carling, the worse it will taste
Ahahahahaha
😂😂😂
£3.50 for 4 cans about £1.16 a can? Great maths Simon 😂
More like 88p per can 😂
Simple Simon
Haha
i thought my maths was bad...ha
That's what happens when you drink Carling, it breaks your mind😊
This is what bear Grylls drinks when he's ran out of his own piss😅
Never mind the beer, I’m loving the new hairstyle! A lot easier on the eye 😀.
Imagine ripping off Carling... could of just pissed in a glass.
Why would anyone (even Aldi) try to rip off Carling? It's existence is bad enough...without cloning it FFS 😂
Carling is the equivalent of John Smiths in the bitter world. you might as well try to clone dog shit lol.
@@jonathanbritland9878 🤣 don't be giving Aldi ideas
I do wonder if “Carters” is a combination of Carling and Fosters in terms of how they named it.
Coors Light mountain range in the pic had me think US crap.
@@burtlangoustine1 I enjoyed Coors Banquet Beer, the original Coors it's not crap at all. Unfortunately it's impossible to get here. From the can art and name I reckon it's a Coors / Fosters clone attempt, who in their right mind would even consider counterfeiting Carling?
@tweez7817 Great shout. Has to be! Do you work for Aldi lol
I like what you have done to the conservatory! Looks cosy and nice with the new lighting. This review would make sense in a summer heatwave when you need a cold beer thats not too strong - hope you had a strong ale afterwards! Don't think I will be trying either beer any time soon.
Carling - wander why they dropped the Black Label! Even though it states 4% it’s 3.7%. Aimed at young drinkers. In the 1980s, I worked in a pub. Carling was often served with a dash of lime or lemonade. In the Birmingham area they used to mix the Carling with bitter 1/2 and 1/2. It was called a Micky Mouse.
Half lager and bitter was called a 'golden' on Merseyside back in the early 90s
£2.49 for 4 cans here in England - far cleaner tasting than Carling, and without that strange foamy head that Carling has when poured. I quite enjoy this beer.
@AJDOLDCHANNELARCHIVE
Imagine if there was a way to have Aldi and Lidl beers on tap at a pub.
I don't think carling is that bad. It's an easy enough drink. As a craft drinker I don't look down on these beers. They have their place in the beer world. Its a low place but a place non the less. Couple of non offensive light beers after a day sometimes if nicer than a full on ipa or heavy craft beer
I agree entirely. It is an answer I always give. After mowing the lawn you don't want a flowery IPA or a super charged 8% brew. You want something light and easy to drink.
Exactly and i don't drink stronger ABV's just to have an heavy head the next day.
I agree also. I mean if I want a pretty light session beer I probs wouldn't go as low as carling. Mebs a rehinbacher or madri or morretti. My macro beer of choice is Guinness. I'm an advocate of different beers for different needs
It's shocking to read accounts from people finding praise, even allocating activities that add relevance to the drinking of a Carling. Mind you, Madonna drank her own piss for years.
My local Eastern European store sells Gambrinus 10....4.3%. there is light and easy drinking, then there is light, easy and flavourful beer. As a real ale drinker that occasionally likes a lager/pilsner, I don't look down on these mass produced British lagers, but I don't drink them either
The branding on the Aldi can reminds me more of Coors Lite than Carling and the low ABV (3.4%!), to me, is in that 'lite' territory. That's a future beer battle sorted for you Simon!
The sad things is why would any one want to make a beer like Carling!?
The copy beer can never be that good. Because it's selling point is that it tastes like Carling. It is a low bar to set but the beer was clearly aimed at teens who want a light and non offensive drink aimed at inexperienced palettes.
Carling should be placed by the fizzy flavoured waters.
“ Fizzy water with a bitter hint of lager “
Note to the marketing boffins: If you're ripping off another product.. maybe rip off a decent one instead 🤦🏾♀️
Very good point😂Carling is awful no taste bland.
It's the best selling lager in the UK (apparently) so it makes sense
Lol
@macnakamura
Yeah but nobody's looking for a _cheap alternative..._
It _is_ the cheap alternative 🤦🏾♀️
I saw this in Aldi the other day, did think immediately that it was a Carling rip off but the mountains threw me off, that's a Coors thing.
10:01 you just invented a new rip off for Lidl - Charling 😂😂😂
Don't say that they probley will
It is more a Coors rip off though as others have commented. Hence the mountains on the can
Surprised you gave the Carling a generous 3.
I never understand why Carling sells so well, can only be explained by those easily influenced by advertising. Fizzy carbonated lager flavoured water can't even get pissed off it 🤣
Best description ever, lager flavoured water ! 😂😂😂
Advertising and price point primary consideration for the undiscerning consumer
You can get pissed on Carling you just need 10 pints at least. But, but, it is still better than Bud Lite, which is like comparing a Sunday pub football team with the Premier League. Bud Lite, cannot be labelled a beer.
@@jonathanbritland9878 technically possible yeah, just couldn't imagine all that gas in my stomach.
I can only assume this drink is produced for those that are driving 🙄
£3.50 for 4 cans isn't £1.16 a can
Honestly rather drink my own piss than carling. It’s an insult that pubs still sell that stuff.
💯 rank carling
About 7 years ago I flew to Spain, where I now live.
After collecting me at the airport,my wife drove us to a restaurant as I hadn't eaten or drank anything for a good few hours.
At the restaurant I ordered pizza and a beer.We were sat outside the restaurant so I had no idea what beer was available. The pizza was fine but the beer was disgusting.
After the meal I asked the waitress what I had been drinking.'Carling'she replied.
Ripping off Carling? That's like Toyota ripping off a Trabant.
Having that bonce chopped has taken years off you mate. Nice one
The last can of Carling I drank was putrid , metallic filth. I am sure it wasn’t this bad going back 20 years
I remember Carling was ok at about the time Stella was a lot stronger at like 5.6%, maybe 10 plus years ago. It's probably also been reduced in ABV and suffered.
Id rather do without now, utter fart water
Cans of Carling taste like wet soil, i used to drink it.. Switched to fosters, then went off lager completely and switched to cider.
I remember my father in law giving me a Carling when I got back from Prague after all the beers there. Just could not taste anything. He likes them, but then again he's not too fond of me 😆.
😂drinking Czech tank pilsners in Prague this week , I always bring a few cans back with me to soften the blow of going straight to my normal staple lagers I have in the fridge 😅
Thank you for the review soon as I spotted the carter's in aldi ill going give them again, enjoying your review of the North brewing company advert calendar looking forward to another review
'do you like carling?' 'dunno, I've never carled'
😂😂😂😂😂
Never understood why the UK has 440ml cans. I laways thought 500ml was the standard.
Here in Cyprus at least one supermarket near us sells Carling, I'm guessing it's for ex-pats who enjoy tasteless beer.
Carling Premier is decent in my opinion. Wigit in can for a creamy head too. Lovely on a summer's day.
Best quote ever ! Love you Si, this is what I say to my traders that drink Fosters, Carling etc " So you don't like flavour in your Beer ? ", they are like wtf do you mean ! 😂😂😂
Why bother copying an awful beer😏love your comment simon "they obviously brew this beer for people who dont like the smell or taste of beer" 😂😂😂😂😂🎉
Like the pheasant background Si....nice work
I've supped a fair bit of this recently as I enjoy a light beer on a school night. It's definitely a coors rip off not Carling and does alright at it. At 2.25 for 4 cans its brilliant.
Not sure about a 3.4% ABV lager. How many of those could you drink and still (legally) drive?
How could you cut corners on Carling without just putting water in tins ?
I bought this lager thinking it was a coors light clone more so a carling clone, with the blue mountains 🤔
Many times the clone versions are better than the brand name.
By the way, the short haircut looks better than that long hair you had ✔️
I thought it was more of a Coors Light rip off with mountains on the can and that
Carter's is currently 2.25 for four, it's ok to be fair if you want a light lager.
I think it’s more like a Coors light rip off with the mountains. 🧐
Carling is shite, probably worst than Carlsberg so I’d rather drink water then waste my cash on that crap but apparently the best selling lager in the UK? I have a friend that drinks Carling and never gets drunk so we gave him a pint of Stella and he was soon slurring his words 😉
Another Classic review Simon that gave me a good laugh 😹 .
Quite rightly I think you avoid politics on your channel but beer drinkers in Wales should consider drinking more in their favourite pubs next year to make up for the Welsh Government announcing today that they are reducing relief on business rates for pubs (and restaurants and shops) in order to support the NHS.
If I was in charge of Aldi marketing I wouldn't find Carling a beer that's worth imitating, Carling is quite cheap anyway, they may as well just sell the original.... I think it's right they make it for people that don't like the flavour of beer much, ice cold with something like dried peanuts, you can hardly taste anything! Don't let it warm up though, it tastes absolutely terrible warm!!
ALDI's standard Rossini is nowhere near real Peroni, but their Rossini Gran Reserva is pretty similar, maybe even better, but basically the same price.
Looking much better with that mop chopped mate. Hope you and the family have a great Christmas
I wonder if the Carling guys piss in the malt like that Tsingtao lot used to until they got caught. Also, Carling spend a lot on making their beer super clear. If you've got sediment you need to ask why and from which bodily parts it may have originated.
I think Carters tastes better than Carling. Like Carling Fosters Lager used to be Brewed In Reading England. Then they Moved Production to Scotland and Closed the other Brewery down. Fosters taste was ruined the moment it started brewing in Scotland. It is definitely the Water that affects it.
I can't stand Carling, I know lots of other people like it but it's just not for me 😅
Its like trying which tastes worse. Horse manure or a cowpat. I dont want to try either.
It's more like a coors lager and not to bad tasting, I will be going back for more.
Carling Premier wasnt too bad back in the 90's, from what i remember of it anyway!!, not tried the regular carling for lterally decades though!!!
Why on earth would someone want to copy Carling of all things? Yuck!
Damn, just bought some on a whim, and googled it when I got home, don't think I'll even bother with it now!
87.5p per can for the Carters, oh dear!
Fosters is now about that abv it's ridiculous. St ausels proper job is a nice beer
The pain on your face Simon 😀 bless you
Carling can do nothing about it as the copyright law in the UK is very weak. Aldi and Lidl are only doing what M&S has done for years
Carling has got to be the worst beer....
Coors rip off i thought more than carling
It is like some weird love child between Coors and Carling if you look at all the packaging.
I find this is best served at bath tub temperature, ideally leave it in the glove box of your car on a hot day for the true Carling experience.
What do you think of Madri Simon? To me it tastes just like Carling with slightly more flavour and alcohol. Its not Spanish lol
Carter's is £2.49 were I live bought some on Friday
Is it any good? Well that's an interesting question because if it was any good, it wouldn't taste like Carling as Carling isn't any good..
Doesn’t taste anything like Carling, it’s actually drinkable and ice cold on a summer’s day it would be ok
Must be only in aldi for a short time can't see it on there website
Why anyone would want to copy a crap beer to begin with is beyond me.....
Not impressed with the carter's lager personally.. but as it only cost me £2.50 I wasn't expecting an earth shattering experience...
I thought it was more of a rip of of coors with the mountains and the text font on the packaging
Carling is vile but I did used to enjoy carling premier years ago, do they even still do premier?
I got some to try it's not bad refreshing plus I lov the name. As I'm a carter aka John Carter.
Sat watching this whilst enjoying a nice cold Carling 🍺👍
Enjoying?
Enjoying?
I must ask.... Did you survive ?
@@michaelketley876 ....Here's a reply so you be the judge 🙄🤣👌🍺
Carters tastes more like Carlsberg to me. All I want is a nice cold beer at the end of the day and its as good as any and cheap. . But Carling is undrinkable sh++
Your hair Simon! 😮😮😮
Also blue and white gives away it's a Coors rip off🤦🤣
Whys cheaper beet called a rip off if its nice and cheaper buy it
Carling is worse than carlsberg. Absolutely vile
Like the shorter hair Simon! Much better 😊
The carters is 2.49 in my Aldi
'is it any good' well considering they are trying to copy something that is dreadful i would say definitely not.
£2.49 for 4 cans will get some abuse for saying it but im enjoying them same as carling half the price
Carling is awful.....not as awful as Simon's new haircut, but still very awful ! Jk Si, 🍻 😂
Si drinking the fizzy dish water so we dont have to cheers Si
It's not a carling rip off it's Coors rip off, the mountains give it away
This is supposed to be rip off Coors not Carling. Hence the lower abv than Carling and the mountain rip off logo.
Simon, have you joined the US Marines Corps or the French Foreign Legion? Nice tidy haircut, Happy Christmas and New Year to all fans. Tis the season to be "pissed" sorry jolly.
Simon taking one for the team here...
£3.50 divided by 4 is about 88p each
Nice cut Simon. Looking good!
I really don't see how u can hate carling that much. For me there isn't enough flavour to cause offence. Its just slightlight bitter fizzy water with a sweetness on the end. Its really poor and shit but it's doesn't offend me. I know to not drink it anymore. Or if I do it's at house party when there's nowt else. I don't get the metallic taste at all. It's cheap piss it is what it is. Yes 3 or 4 out of 10 (freezing cold on a hot day might get the 4) I wouldn't buy either to be fair. 3.4% isn't beer it's shandy
@MajorCharlesCarringtonVC yeah but the aldi one was 3.4
The long hair has gone Simon looks weird seeing you with short hair again but doing a good job as always
Carling is absolutely bobbins
Carling + Fosters = Carters
I always thought he was saying Doomba, which was maybe Dunbar in a Northern accent haha. Ok it’s Doom Bar
Separated by a common language indeed
he’s Welsh, not northern.
I can't stand it...Fosters is worse. I'll stick to Red Stripe.
