I've found the 100% Brisker gloves to be great, they really keep your hands warm in the cold, wet Scottish winter weather and really aren't very "bulky". They last pretty well too, mine are only now needing replaced after well over a year of regular use.
So true what you said about mindset. So often even on my pedal up to the tops I know if I'm gonna be 'on' or not that day. Looking forward to Dyfi footage! 🤘
Man, that gap with the tree looked scary given the conditions, at least on camera. Clearly you are not having trouble boosting that Evil. Your Insurgent is the best looking bike I've seen in some time!
Dyfi absolutely.Im definitely a mediocre rider with moderate ability and confidence. But the way the trails are built, It's so inspiring even for myself. I even found myself enjoying leaving the ground for once.
Another +1 for the 100% Brisker gloves! I recently got the handup cold-er weather gloves & actually prefer them though. The briskers are tight MTB gloves that fit tight and are good to -5 or so. The handups fit a touch looser, but are good in colder temps than the briskers and I use em on dog walks & such too! Both are great & have lasted me two winters now.
Great vid mate, good to see you taking it steady on your first runs😂. With the gloves mate, Briskers for me, every time. I’ve got the waterproof ones, don’t really rate them, bit bulky, and first time I wore them, they let in, although it was hammering it down for the hours I was out for. The standard ones though, excellent, just bought my 3rd pair, still wearing my first pair, think they’ve done 4 winters now ( they are about knackered now mind ). Keep your hands toastie, and still good feeling on the bars.
Love the vids, been watching for a few years now, one of a few riders I look forward to watching! Camera quality is great but on a tv the wide angles make me feel a bit nauseous... Could just be me, but thought it would be worth letting you know! Love the content! Keep it up 🤙
Showerpass makes some awesome gloves.. They're a company based in the pnw so they're waterproof and relatively thin but are made out of merino wool and do a great job of keeping your hands warm, even when the outer layer is soaked. I've had a pair for a few years and I use them for just about everything. Including trail building, biking, commuting etc.
Hey bud! Glad to see you out and riding💪🏻. Try and find a glove with a top side out of Neopren and bot out of something else, i have a pair of White, bet you can find them on google, that i have used in -20°c here in sweden. Suuuper nice gloves, for extreme cold keep you hand in the glove at al cost, neopren is the same material as in wetsuits, made to retain a layer of water, in this case moisture from you hand and all the warmt! And the best feel in your fingers ive found so far! Best of luck bud!
White Comp Neoprene glove - google that and you will find them! A bit warm at around 0°c and not waterproof on the palm side but just domt get wet i guess 🤣. Never borherd me, 20eur so cant complain!
The 100% brisket gloves are great. Another one that I have are the hestra long sr. They are more for cold days than damp rainy days and I wear those more than the 100% or cold windy days.
Cotton glove liners (medical). I used to wear them back in Europe during the winter. They are like double socks. Layers work best. You might have to go a glove size up with them. Pharmacies used to sell them, but that was in like 99 when I was riding in Europe :)
Fox Legion Drive Thermo glove. Made for side by side driving in winter weather, but have a thin palm which makes them great for riding in cold weather, especially if you struggle with cold hands.
I used to ride Glentress back in the day. Now riding trails out here in Sweden. A good tips for gloves is to wear a pair off blue nitrile mechanics gloves under your riding gloves. Or, my wife swears by her Endura gloves.
I'm running with the 100% Hydromatic Brisker. They are pretty similar to the normal Briskers, but are Waterproof. It's a huge advantage for me, because the thicker gloves tend to soak with water quickly.
Tasco MTB makes great winter gloves, I’ve used them in temps down to about 40 and my hands have felt great the whole time. Not bulky at all, feel like normal gloves
So I completed the Straffpuffer this year and I used normal summer trail gloves with PVC gloves under them. It's a hack but no cold hands 👌 with 500 sets of PVC gloves for like 5 quid or something. Cheap and easy
Thought u crashed when the mount came off 🙉 try Seth’s hack for sticking the mount on dude slightly burn the adhesive till it bubbles then attach it while hot. If u need to remove it without damaging the paint job heat it slightly 👍
In regards to gloves: Endura Singletrack Windproof. Work well for the 0 to 5°C range. Just be careful with the velcro latches, on my last pair (color Blueberry) the left glove wouldn't close properly. The pair in color Electric Blue which I had before Blueberry and unfortunately lost didn't have the velcro problem, best gloves I've had yet.
We got below freezing more than 4months of the year here. Grips are more important than gloves, promise. same wind breaking glove as always but foam grips got me from being cold after 20min to riding all day.. Might even air my hands out going back up!🤙
They will also make your hands sweat like a farm animal. And when it’s cold outside the last thing you want is to sweat. That would be like you saying the best way to keep warm is to wear trash bags under your clothes. If you are cutting weight…that’s great. Otherwise, don’t do that.
@@TheHyTek sorry brotha but you are wrong. Sweating when it’s really cold outside is not a good thing. There is a reason why wearing 2 to 3 pairs of socks when going skiing/snowboarding is a horrible idea. Multiple pairs of socks will make your feet sweat. Feet start sweating, that sweat turns cold and it’s game over!! Same concept with your hands. Ever heard people who hike Everest say one of their biggest concerns is sweating while hiking. They say if you sweat on Everest, you die. Nitrile gloves do not release moisture, they trap it. When it’s cold outside, this is not what you want.
Surly having the peak on your helmet so high will slow you down. I know down hill isn't focused on aerodynamics, etc. I bet there is some time to be saved moving the peak lower down.
Why do people telling their audience to “like” their video before it even begins? I mean, wouldn’t it make more sense to do that towards the end!?! “Hey, like this video before you even watch it” is basically what you guys are saying.
@@LewisBuchanan I’m not moaning. I’m saying some sh*t that you just happen not to like. Not every comment is going to stroke your ego and give you dopamine hits. I brought up a valid point and question and your response was, “stop moaning”. That’s the type of response someone gives when they are guilty or having their manipulation tactics called out. I have heard they are good actually! Thanks for the recommendation
+1 for the 100% Brisker gloves. Used them all winter, nice thin palm and really warm. 👍
Plus 1 more

Great to see your doing well! The evil seems like a much better fit than the nukeproof, such a sick looking bike. Excited to see more videos!
Thanks Ronan!
please stay aktive on youtube 🙏🏻. love to see it Lew, keep it up.

I’m trying!

Hey there Mate, I've been using the 100% Brisker gloves during wet / cold weather and I love them!

Love the Evil . Such cool looking frames Lewis. Ha ha, wild jump over that fallen tree man. Keep the vids coming .

Awesome first run Lewis. Looking forward to seeing more Evil Madness. 🔥

You should try chin mount for gopro☝🏻 also doesn’t that bell have integrated mount?

Would you do a short review on new brakes? Definately thorn between cura 4 and dominions
Maybe in the future yes!
New bike looks very good. The colour is awesome too. For a second when the camera fell off I thought you’d creamed in!

Oh its a 5finger glove, black with White printed on the index finger, in white!

100% Brisker are the best. Not only do they keep your hands warm and allow incredible movement but they also wear super well.

U ever try the rubber gloves under glove its def keeps hands warmer but I sweat too much for it
Ah yes! Good point
If you put rubber gloves under your riding ones it keeps your hands nice and warm. It works so good!
My guy just sends it holy shit didn’t expect that hhhaha nice man
scared me a bit when the cam fell off - glad you didn't crash :)
ye, chainstays/BB height make a HUGE difference in how the bike performs and feels

100% brisker are good for warmth and control at the same time
🙌🏽🙌🏽
When that Gopro mount fell off I was sure you cased the crap out of that landing...glad to see that wasn't what happened.

jooo new bike is looking sick and that gap was crazy!!

Fox Legion Drive Thermo glove. Made for side by side driving in winter weather, but have a thin palm which makes them great for riding in cold weather, especially if you struggle with cold hands.
🙌🏽
Was there moments in the urban dh that you weren't all in? Is that why the crash happened or was that just racing?
Yeah I wasn’t super present at the urban at certain times. I felt distracted quite a lot. So much going on there ya know.
I used to ride Glentress back in the day. Now riding trails out here in Sweden. A good tips for gloves is to wear a pair off blue nitrile mechanics gloves under your riding gloves. Or, my wife swears by her Endura gloves.
Epic! Thanks
Why did you switch from TRP to Hayes?
Solid communication and I wanted a change in general. Brakes are unreal feeling and I prefer the shorter lever also.
I’m at Dyfi for the first time this weekend 🤙🏼 Also another +1 on briskers
See you there!!!
i see hanging out with those gnarly boys has rub off glad your good thought you bit it for a sec lol
Looked like it eh haha 😂
Aaaahhhh that’s what was missing from your build video.. the owl sound when you jump … 😂😂😂😂 kidding don’t ban me

Brisker 100% gloves are the dogs. They also do a gore-tex version for the extreme weather days.

Open Gas right outta the gate, YEEWWW!!!! xD \m/

Thought u crashed when the mount came off 🙉 try Seth’s hack for sticking the mount on dude slightly burn the adhesive till it bubbles then attach it while hot. If u need to remove it without damaging the paint job heat it slightly 👍

For the sticky mount, heat it up (lighter, match stick or even a heat gun) before you put it on. Ideally the night before if you can.
Cheers! Noted
100% Brisker gloves 👍🏾
🙌🏽
So sick!! I love my evil. You send it out there! Also, on which bike were you racing for evil back in the day?
Sick! In 2010
@@LewisBuchanan haha dude thanks for that! how time has changed for evil. you probably don't have the old frame but I have to ask. You sold it? 😅
In regards to gloves: Endura Singletrack Windproof. Work well for the 0 to 5°C range. I have the same issue with the single track gloves. Great feel, and warm enough above a few degrees but the Velcro on mine doesn’t stick either
I use latex surgical gloves under my riding gloves, stops your hands from being able to breathe so essentially so keeps them toasty af!
Yes!
We got below freezing more than 4months of the year here. Grips are more important than gloves, promise. same wind breaking glove as always but foam grips got me from being cold after 20min to riding all day.. Might even air my hands out going back up!🤙

Tip for warm hands: Use disposable gloves under your ridding gloves. I do it, and works fine for me.
🙌🏽🙌🏽
Fortunately it was gopro not you crashed. Nice jump nice vid. Great job. 👍
Thanks! Yes…luckily the go pro took it and not me 😂
Crazy Gap, crazy rider 👌 Respect Lewis 👍 . . . Only Fans
Thanks
Dyfi is THE BEST. 🎉🎉🎉
🙌🏽🙌🏽
No way id be hitting that step down but where is this track?? Looks sick!
Top tip for warm hands is to wear nitrile single use gloves under your riding gloves, traps the heat really well
🙌🏽🙌🏽

a pair of med/nitrile gloves underneath a pair of riding gloves work well and don't add that much thickness

Surly having the peak on your helmet so high will slow you down.
I know down hill isn't focused on aerodynamics, etc. I bet there is some time to be saved moving the peak lower down.
No. If the peak is lower it draws your eyes down nearer to your front wheel. Which in turn makes you ride slower
Yeah I think so. Maybe a bit but I like how it looks
@@LewisBuchanan 👍
put some nitril gloves on underneath the normal gloves. keeps the wind out and still plenty of feel
🙌🏽
Hand guards and Joe Barnes’ heated grips
😂
Heat to GoPro pad up with a lighter… sticks like concrete then 🤙
🙌🏽🙌🏽
take a warm pair of gloves, stick em on when you are not riding and take them off and stash them in your pockets for runs. job done
Simple but effective I guess
yoooo new vid
🙌🏽🙌🏽
before i would hit the log i would shit my pants
😂😂
Shout out to the guy lying down under a log at 2:26.
😂
use a portable shoe dryer and just cable tie it to your bars, easy fix for cold hands.
😂😂
Melt and heat the gopro sticky mount with a lighter, then put it on your helmet. Sounds dumb. Works great.
Haha thanks! Tech tip right there
Awesome bike and ride, but the video is out of focus while riding and the image is stuttering.
👍🏽
Put a pair of nitrile gloves on under your gloves 👊
🙌🏽🙌🏽
@@LewisBuchanan it works a treat 😉😃
Cheers dude
Bike lots sick, get aWarner egg in your pocket to warm your hands?
Thanks!
Wear some plastic gloves under, i used to do this on my motorbike as the speed made the gloves useless
