You genuinely believe the White Sox are going to get the equivalent of Mayer, Anthony, Teel, Bleis, Zanettelo, and Perales. Not a single chance in hell that’s the value of the package
I like the Dejong add… should take that much… don’t think everyone is looking for middle infield help… but everyone (including the Dodgers will want Crotchet… Dodgers will wait for Mookie and wouldn’t add a bat)
I can see the red sox trading for someone like cal quantril(rockies, 3.43 era, $6,500,000 1 year contract) or Ryan Weathers(marlins, 3.55, 727,000). Of the two, quantrill's definitely more likely due to his age(29) while Weather's is 24, the trade would avoid a top 10 or even top 20 minor league system, and wouldn't be too expensive. Quantrill would also be effective due to his BAA on the other AL east teams where the Yankees have a 162 BAA him, the Orioles have a 258 BAA, the Jays have a 345 BAA and the Rays have a 200 BAA. This would be pretty effective as we see these teams a ton after the all star break. The Sox would probably have to give up Bryan Mata and Isaiah Campbell for Quantril, due to the control that Mata and Campbell have. Love the DeJong trade.
I think a better option if the Red Sox would be trading with the Phillies to get trea turner who has the speed good contact and a little bit of power his defense is also above average which seems like a perfect fit for our speedy team and Jose Alvarado who is posting a 3.09 era and a well rounded starter that could help us a lot including helping us make that playoff run thoughts?
Crochet came up for the White Sox in 2020 he's just been in the pen up until this year so it's his first year starting. (2020, 5 games) (2021, 54 games) (2022, didn't pitch) (2023, 13 games) (2024, 15 games so far)
@@redseatradio That's what you said at the 2 min mark which I missed but at 3:15ish you said what worries me is this is his first year in the big leagues (or you may have said MLB) That's what I heard
Paul DeJong is definitely a more realistic acquisition possibility as a "short term" shortstop rental for the August and September push for a wildcard playoff berth ... His solid defensive play at shortstop and adequate right handed power bat allowing Ceddanne Rafaela to remain in centerfield is worth acquiring ... No way I see the Red Sox outbidding and overpaying other "big market contenders" for Garrett Crochet ... It's basically the same situation and conversation that has been discussed before in trading for Jesus Luzardo from the Miami Marlins ... However, I'm sure Craig Breslow will be sitting down with Andrew Bailey in discussing what available value oriented "project" starting pitcher possibilities they may be able to realistically obtain ... I totally agree that another starter is greatly needed especially with the likely desire that Alex Cora will want to go with a six man rotation at certain times for the remainder of the season ... Trading for a starter who can be quickly turned around by correcting a minor flaw with their delivery should not cost a lot in trade capitol or create a "road block" with John Henry's "tight fisted wallet" and ongoing unwillingness in having to over spend ...
I wouldn’t go after Crochett just for the fact that the white Sox will get an overpay on him. White Sox also know we’re hurting at Shortstop so DeLong will also be an overpay.
Sure would, but at some point you are going to have to overpay for something. You cannot hoard money and talent and expect to keep moving forward. If the opportunity is there and you are comfortable overpaying you have to pull the trigger
Tough being a lefty pitcher at Fenway. DeJong would be sweet. Move Hamilton to 2B and we'd ave an average, competent middle infield. And J.P. Sears would be an interesting pick up for a 4-5 guy.
Regardless of whether the Red Sox go full buy or sell mode at the deadline going after Crochet makes a lot of sense. Clearly he helps you in 2024, but also 2025 and beyond. He is going to come at a heavy cost. Prospect wise I would put either Nazzan Zanetello or Yoelin Cespedes (but not both) in the mix. Bleis has the potential to be a huge impact player for the Sox, but with Duran, Rafaela, Abreau, and Anthony perhaps we can give him up. Then we have a ton of players who will be Rule 5… see what fits with Chicago. On the MLB roster I would put Winckowski in the mix too.
Would Reese McGuire be a good trade option in this due to the white Sox not having a strong catcher and due to Connor’s success I see no need for reese
Somehow I don't think Breslow will give them Abreu. He is a pretty complete player and he's only 24. He runs well, powerful arm, good outfielder with excellent reads from the outfield. I think its more likely they promote a pitcher from the minor leagues . Thats what I would do and make it a 6 man rotation to give these starters an extra day rest and level out these innings pitched. Crochet is a nice dream and a good idea. Imagine him paired with Houck. I am afraid of what he would cost though. We will see. It doesn't feel to me that Breslow will do that. I could be wrong. Good video Corbin.
Hi Corbin, interesting trade. First, wasn't Theo Epstein the White Sox GM? I don't think the Red Sox will part with major prospects. That said, I think your trade could work. I would think Criswell, Kenley Jansen would be available, and either Grissom or Yorke as well. That would be some high-profile players as well as Gialitto since he wouldn't be needed. I'd say that would be a really good package.
I'm all for getting a left handed starter however I think the asking price is going to be very high and I'm all for bringing in another shortstop. If they could get these guys without having to part with important prospects. My guess is Craig won't do it but I would be ok if he did.
crochet would be awesome...and i'm all for it. but for some reason, i feel like we would rather go out and get some guy with a 5.50 era and a 2-9 record like we ususally do. or, we will sign a guy like urias and play it up as if he is on the brink of stardom... if you look at the last few seasons, guys like reese and tommy pham are the caliber of talent we go for. you could argue that reese was a good acquisition, however to me he is no better than what we had with vasquez. we did get abreu in the deal though, and that may be worth it all in the end. i love crochet, and i agree...that would be a great deal for us. just worry about what they are going to ask for, and we tend not to give up much in that book. i'd be willing to part with guys like whitlock (love him, but he is always hurt), hamilton, valdez, or even tyler o'neil if it meant that we got an all-star pitcher who will eat up 6-7 innings every outing. o'neil is hitting, but striking out a lot, and his "golden glove" skills seem to have not come with him in that outfield. the injury history with him isn't wonderful either. i like him folks, but if we get something we need more, that's more important. crochet would be cool, that's a dream though...
He’s a bit better than fine my friend. And yea it was alright, but he’s an average shortstop and a gold glove Centerfielder. What’s more valueable to this team especially when you can get a average SS for not a ton
@@redseatradio getting the ss would be cool, my point is that Crochet would cost you way more than what you proposed. Duran is gold glove caliber cf. love your channel btw.
Exactly story can DH Rafaela at short Duran in center casas at first devers at third wing catching and maybe believe it or not Hamilton at center not to bad Grissom is a bum could have got more for sale water under the bridge next’ year our year with a couple of good moves here and there
While your trade propsals are close to reasonable, if I'm the White Sox I'd demand at last one of the Sox top 3 prospects... Anthony or Mayer or Teel. And why not? If the Sox balk at the price, another team might give up a similar prospect. And, if all else fails, they get to keep Crochet. Would you trade Roman Anthony for Crochet and the SS?
What do you think about trading for Patrick Sandoval? I know hes been kind of bad after the Wbc but he has a lot of breaking stuff which fits into Andrew's philosophy
The Red Sox need starting pichiing. Crochet would be a perfect pick up. I would also like them to get Jesús Luzardo from Miami. The Red Sox need to move Teel and Mayor to AAA soon. I could see them both up at the end of August. So they do not need a shortstop. Because Abreau is back they can move Rafela back to shortstop and Hamilton to second. I do believe that Jansen, Martin, Privetta, and O'Neil are going to be gone so the Red Sox will restock. Maybe some of the new players brought in will go back out in trades for starting pitching. I like your trade package but I would not trade Hamilton. You also said how DeYoung and Hamilton would make a great SS tandem. How could that be if you trade one? Miguel Bleis is a stud and Nick York is tearing up at AAA. So that is a strong base for a trade. I would have been willing to put Peralis in the deal but he is hurt. If they would still want him, I would give him up because it will be a couple years before he can pitch and could very well end up like Brian Mata. Giving up Greg Weissert does not really hurt the team. They have a strong reliever core in AAA and will need a spot for Mata if he can get healthy. What the Red Sox do this trade dead line is all for 2025. If they can also have a playoff run that will be great. I think the Red Sox are a team that can trade off their older players and then go on a run. They have put together an impressive core. Give the young players the experience just like Baltimore did and add more players to the pipeline for the ones being lost to upgrade the pitching.
Most things in life come with a great sacrifice and another thing they could do is consider the Dominican league and see if they can get a good Pitcher on the DL. ❤
Sorry but you said DeJong and Hamilton would complement each other and then put Hamilton in the trade. Just want to know if you think Hamilton goes or stays?
You said it Pitching is at a premium the White Sox are not giving up a controllable pitcher without getting a stud young pitcher in return remember the Sale trade (of course Crochet is NO Sale- but the Sox had to give up Kopech who was a top 10 prospect in their system and capable of hitting triple digits - and YES Breslow is not confident or comfortable in his standing nor does he wield power DD did to make a trade Like this
Doesn’t make sense for us to give all that honestly. And u also said De Jong n Hamilton would be a great platoon but then in the same breath u giving Hamilton up for De Jong lol. But I would stick with Hamilton n Romy at short this season n ride with that. I don’t mind giving up Bleiss for Crochet bcus we are stacked in the outfield
What about this trade……Casas and Crawford for Crochet and Dejong. Too little or too much to give up? Here’s my rationale………..I think we overrate Casas and I think Crawford is “at best” a .500 pitcher. I also don’t think Casas brings a killer instinct to the game…….weird factor is way too high!! Crochet looks like a top lefty for the next 2 1/2 years. Tell me what you think. Great discussion Corbin.
Too much. Casas is a Top 5 first baseman and Kutter is at least Top 30 SP. Dejong would be gone after this year and Crochet will likely regress next season, similarly to Bello this year. IMO.
I can only say this, Red Sox lost a lot of prospects in the past. Now that we have them and as you have seen these players been brought up to the bigs for a reason. This is why I think Alex believes in player development so they can make a trade like of what you said,. Is it possible they will do something this year? Only if their in a good spot for a run to get to the playoffs. I hope they do something soon before some other team grabs up on what you said. You make a lot of sense at who they should get.
Crochet would be a great fit, but the asking price would probably be higher than the red sox are willing to pay… also the booby traps hidden around fenway that keep injuring half the roster seem to go after former white sox pitchers with particular zeal, so there’s that risk too.
The Yankees should sign Cal Quantril and trade Nestor Cortes but knowing cashman and Hal they won’t sign him that’s why top free agents don’t want to sign with the Yankees and end up winning the World Series with other teams
If we somehow revert to the Sox of old World Series or bust manny Ramirez Pedro Martinez Juan Soto with our talent with young players and veterans and pitching we would be World Series contenders for the next 5 years it won’t happen but it did happen not to long ago
Great video Corbin, but no way do I want DeJong. Guy can't hit, that's a liability. Trading for Crochett is going to cost a lot in talent and I'm not sure it's worth it. I'd rather stick with Hamilton at SS and look elsewhere for SP.....
His average in 21 & 22 were below .200 and in 23 he barely hit .207. Plus he played for 3 teams last season. He is hitting .240 so far this season but his past averages are Mendoza line.....
He’s under control until 2027 does anyone really think it’s possible for them to be legitimately competitive by 2026 especially with where their farm system is at? Absolutely not. Trading Crochet would give them a ton of pieces to really get the ground moving on this rebuild right now they have nothing
@@redseatradio I like the team as is . All we need is a defensive shortstop . Team is young and hungry. I did post on your RUclips video last November that Sox should hold onto Sale and trade him in July if team was floundering . Sale would look nice on this staff right now…we are paying his salary

No no no. At this point stick to the strategy. No rentals. No short terms. Extend players you have developed and continue developing that core. Maaaaybe next year bring in the compliments. Hold for now and dump a couple of pieces.
1. They have already said they are fully open to trading. 2. The White Sox are at the very beginning of a rebuild. Best case scenario they will be competitive again in 2027…after Crochet is a free agent. So unless they plan on extending him, they could utilize his value to completely revamp their farm. 3. They have one of the worst farm systems in the sport.
I'll take the SS for sure.... that's sounds too good...above average defensive having his best year at the plate...get him... going to be some weak prospect that gets Garritt too..watch
I'd probably be happy with the trade you proposed but as weird as it feels to say this... I don't wanna see Hammy go. I've really started liking the guy
Not really the white Sox are no where near competitive with one of the worst farm systems in baseball. If the normal time frame on a rebuild for an average farm system is 3-4 years Crochet won’t be apart of the next competitive White Sox team anyways
Soto only 25 so even 10 years he will still only be 35 when his contract is up this is not like the angels signing puljos you still get at 7 years of Soto in his prime
I’m extending Duran because he’s the face of this franchise I believe at this point and I’d 100% want him to retire a Red Sox. They’re just nothing you can’t like about him. Houck is the guy I’m 100 million percent signing to an extension. He is our ace and he can thrive under Baileys system. I just don’t even want to make any trades. I only care about resigning
Nope not trading Abreu I came in this season saying he was the best prospect we have and he’s been killing it prob a top 3 favorite for ROTY so far so no I’ll take my chances with this team than trading Abreu away
Doesn’t have to be Abreu again as mentioned in the video that’s to get a baseline of value. To get someone big you have to give up something big just how it works.
I’m really curious to see what we’d be able to get for kenley, I feel like that trade is pretty set in stone to happen. Despite him performing well so far
This could be uglier than ‘full throttle “ Red Sox playing really well and they are sellers anyway..the argument is it would be a mistake to not acquire young controllable talent from sought after players that offer no value to your organization beyond 2024…Pivetta ,Oniel , Kenley , Martin are all going to extremely valuable trade pieces that could bring in prospects that could help get you a Crochet …the 2024 Red Sox might be sacrificed on the alter for the benefit of the future.
Depends on what you are truly losing if you hold onto them. Most of those guys may have some value at the deadline, but will it be enough to fully blow this thing up. And to be honest with you I think Breslow can do both. You dont have to sell every single one of them, but if O’Neill and Kenley going gets you enough to feel comfortable going after a front line guy that may be the route they take
@@redseatradio “ May have some value” ? The value they have is the entire problem ! They are the definition of trade deadline 🔥 by the way trading Wilyer would be a catastrophic mistake kind of like everyone was ok with trading Duran before this season.
@markmccarthy7887 might be overvaluing them a bit here mark. O’Neill has already been hurt 2x, Pivetta was on the IL earlier this year and is solid, kenley has been good but he’s also pricy for a reliever and 37 years old, Martin has been no where near himself this year. None of this guys are really gonna bring back a haul on their own that fully changes the trajectory of this franchise
@@redseatradio allow me to retort ….kenley looks really good and is asking for more innings in the middle of the games…Oniel is rocketing shots into the seats upon his return and is a solid defender..Martin is still a valuable piece despite his recent problems..Pivetta has had some brilliant deep starts vs some really good teams tying guys like Clemens with strikeout records. These guys have no contracts to worry about after this season …again these guys are prototypical mid season gap filling players that win now teams want at the deadline. The Red Sox will be approached aggressively for these players as long as they are performing and healthy a month from now. Winc just had an 8 strikeout game in AAA 4 days ago as well. I think at the end of the day the brass will be very comfortable with the 2025 rotation of Houck Crawford Gialito Bello and wincowski or Whitlock

Patrick McAvoy ……just found this article The Red Sox are just 2 1/2 games out of an American League Wild Card spot and are starting to get healthier so they should be able to compete deep into the summer. If Boston can keep up its recent level of play, they should be considering adding to the roster at the 2024 Major League Baseball trade deadline rather than subtracting. Although this is the case, Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter predicted that the Red Sox will sell this summer and that Tyler O'Neill, Kenley Jansen, and Nick Pivetta all could be moved. How about trading vaughn Grissom for Chris Sale? Wait a minute.
Crochet came up for the White Sox in 2020 he's just been in the pen up until this year so it's his first year starting.
(2020, 5 games) (2021, 54 games) (2022, didn't pitch) (2023, 13 games) (2024, 15 games so far)
Yeah that’s what I said first year starting games at the big league level
Crochetts injury history is a big no for Me and Redsox dont need Paul Dejong
Yeah it might take one of those guys in there
We keep wilyer abreu and get rid of typer oneil and masa
No that would be the cubs
I'm all for getting a left handed starter however I think the asking price is going to be very high and I'm all for bringing in another shortstop. If they could get these guys without having to part with important prospects. My guess is Craig won't do it but I would be ok if he did.
At some point they are going to have to part with important prospects. Holding on to all of them just creates problems in the future
@@redseatradio I absolutely agree trading away some prospects is definitely the best way to do business!
crochet would be awesome...and i'm all for it. but for some reason, i feel like we would rather go out and get some guy with a 5.50 era and a 2-9 record like we ususally do. or, we will sign a guy like urias and play it up as if he is on the brink of stardom...
if you look at the last few seasons, guys like reese and tommy pham are the caliber of talent we go for. you could argue that reese was a good acquisition, however to me he is no better than what we had with vasquez. we did get abreu in the deal though, and that may be worth it all in the end.
i love crochet, and i agree...that would be a great deal for us. just worry about what they are going to ask for, and we tend not to give up much in that book.
i'd be willing to part with guys like whitlock (love him, but he is always hurt), hamilton, valdez, or even tyler o'neil if it meant that we got an all-star pitcher who will eat up 6-7 innings every outing. o'neil is hitting, but striking out a lot, and his "golden glove" skills seem to have not come with him in that outfield. the injury history with him isn't wonderful either. i like him folks, but if we get something we need more, that's more important. crochet would be cool, that's a dream though...
Honestly just get a number 2 elite pitcher and this team can really compete with anyone.
I really liked Cedanne at SS. Duran can play center. Just need to get Abreau back. Crochet is fine if you don't mind giving up 3 or 4 top prospects.
@floydshambles appreciate it and honestly not sure in terms of value no but it’s gonna depend on how much the competition would be willing to offer
Exactly story can DH Rafaela at short Duran in center casas at first devers at third wing catching and maybe believe it or not Hamilton at center not to bad Grissom is a bum could have got more for sale water under the bridge next’ year our year with a couple of good moves here and there
Hamilton at second I mean
While your trade propsals are close to reasonable, if I'm the White Sox I'd demand at last one of the Sox top 3 prospects... Anthony or Mayer or Teel. And why not? If the Sox balk at the price, another team might give up a similar prospect. And, if all else fails, they get to keep Crochet. Would you trade Roman Anthony for Crochet and the SS?
Yeah you’re probably right
What do you think about trading for Patrick Sandoval? I know hes been kind of bad after the Wbc but he has a lot of breaking stuff which fits into Andrew's philosophy
Yeah might not be a bad idea. I could see them targeting someone similar to that
The Red Sox need starting pichiing.
Yeah I go after Paul dejong
I think ownership would want a pitcher with potential, but can sign cheaper and save money. I mean, golf balls aren’t cheap.
Giving up Abreu & Hamilton? No way!
IMO.
If this past winter was “Full Throttle” the trade deadline will be marginal at best. Let’s see how the next 3 weeks go?
Do u think redsox are having Abreu playing much games because to get his value up . They'll use him a trade bait to bring in pitcher
No I think he’s a legit piece but you are going to need to part with someone big to get it done
True that’s a big risk to take I totally forgot about the IL booby traps
Like Hamilton at SS
Redsox should Make a Trade for Cal Quantrill and would be great fit in Boston
Not bad
The Yankees should sign Cal Quantril and trade Nestor Cortes but knowing cashman and Hal they won’t sign him that’s why top free agents don’t want to sign with the Yankees and end up winning the World Series with other teams
They do NOT need a shortstop. They have Hamilton. They have Rafaela. No need whatsoever.
You can't platoon Dejong and Hamy if you trade Hamy. Rethink your logic.
He literally is hitting 13% better than the average hitter in the game
His average in 21 & 22 were below .200 and in 23 he barely hit .207. Plus he played for 3 teams last season. He is hitting .240 so far this season but his past averages are Mendoza line.....
Don’t see a rebuilding team trading a 24 year old pitcher. DeJong would fit great in lineup
Here we go with the comments of not trading prospects cause they are so great, overvaluing prospects instead of getting very good mlb players
I think Garrett crochet would be a great fit or you could go for Jezus luzardo
Trying to figure out when we became the Tampa Bay rays of building a baseball team correct me if I’m wrong I don’t think Tampa has has ever won a world series competive yes playoffs yes world series championships 0
Screw this trade.
Not weissert or Hamilton I guess id be okay with weissert but def not hammy honestly he’s young and he has started putting it all together
Id love the sox to go after him
It would be incredible
Hay que conseguir a crochet
Puede que no sea una necesidad, pero haría todo mucho más fácil.
Redsox are very dangerous!!!! Celtics are champs and the Sox are playing great
This might be a wide open American League this year no astros in the playoffs this year don’t underestimate the orioles or royals to come out in the AL
He’s on pace for 200 Ks
Don't need the short stop.. If you're gonna trade with the White Sox, I'd get the starter and get Michael Kopeck back..
Why Kopech has been bad this year
No no no. At this point stick to the strategy. No rentals. No short terms. Extend players you have developed and continue developing that core. Maaaaybe next year bring in the compliments. Hold for now and dump a couple of pieces.
Crochet isn’t a rental
Why would the White Sox trade a young pitcher under control for 3 more years?
Because there 5 years away for even remotely being a threat
I'll take the SS for sure.... that's sounds too good...above average defensive having his best year at the plate...get him... going to be some weak prospect that gets Garritt too..watch
I'd probably be happy with the trade you proposed but as weird as it feels to say this... I don't wanna see Hammy go. I've really started liking the guy
Yeah but again they are going to have to make a really tough decision at some point here as to who they are fully investing in
Why would Chicago want to trade their best pitcher? He’s perfect for them to build around
Not really the white Sox are no where near competitive with one of the worst farm systems in baseball. If the normal time frame on a rebuild for an average farm system is 3-4 years Crochet won’t be apart of the next competitive White Sox team anyways
W Abreu !!!!!!!!!!!!!!’
Yall can have Abreu we don’t want him with the Yankees he is not 2021 abreu but I guess you add a contact hitter
Soto only 25 so even 10 years he will still only be 35 when his contract is up this is not like the angels signing puljos you still get at 7 years of Soto in his prime
Let's go C'S
I’m extending Duran because he’s the face of this franchise I believe at this point and I’d 100% want him to retire a Red Sox. They’re just nothing you can’t like about him. Houck is the guy I’m 100 million percent signing to an extension. He is our ace and he can thrive under Baileys system. I just don’t even want to make any trades. I only care about resigning
Duran will not be a free agent until he is 32
Nope not trading Abreu I came in this season saying he was the best prospect we have and he’s been killing it prob a top 3 favorite for ROTY so far so no I’ll take my chances with this team than trading Abreu away
Doesn’t have to be Abreu again as mentioned in the video that’s to get a baseline of value. To get someone big you have to give up something big just how it works.
Not his first MLB season dude
Dude I said fist mlb season STARTING
Give them O Neil.
Why in the world would the White Sox want O’Neill?
We're Not Ready Yet....Stay The Course................I'll Take Mayer @ SS
Maybe they aren’t ready to win this year, but Crochet isn’t just for this year, he is for the next 2 years as well.

You Truly Are A Sox Fan.....Been One Since 1980...Luvs The Show
I’m really curious to see what we’d be able to get for kenley, I feel like that trade is pretty set in stone to happen. Despite him performing well so far
Yeah unfortunately feels like a certainty
@@redseatradio Red Sox Trio 'Could' Be Traded This Summer Despite Recent Hot Streak
Will the Red Sox hold a firesale this summer despite their recent hot streak?
Patrick McAvoy ……just found this article
The Red Sox are just 2 1/2 games out of an American League Wild Card spot and are starting to get healthier so they should be able to compete deep into the summer.
This isn't the first time any of the trio have been mentioned in trade rumors and likely won't be the last. All three have solid trade value, but hopefully, the Red Sox end up buying rather than selling.
Ya I’m way off 😝
The only guy I’d prob want to trade for is Reese Olson. This guy is actually disgusting and I think the Tigers gonna dump him giving their situation
If we play a one and done playoff game I consider it a above season we have some young players who are playing all year we have talent we aren’t winning anything this year however next year if everyone stays healthy and we make a good move or two with Whitlock coming back and maybe gilito returning to form with houck and bello getting his ass together we have the makings of a very competitive team next year and doing some damage
Tanner Houck will not be accepting a discount extension. This dude is betting on himself and will go through arbitration until free agency. If Tanner continues on this upward trend, he’s going to cash in $$$$ big time.
