  • Part one of two. Part two can be found here: • Can Starfox Zero save ...
Starfox is a beloved and special franchise. In this video I look at the reasons why I believe Starfox Zero is an ingenious marketing strategy of Nintendo's and how this game has the potential to extricate the Wii U from it's apparent and concerning kismet.

Thanks for the words of appreciation mate. It might just be a small thing but when you've worked really hard on a video a few simple words means a bunch.

I agree they've got a solid line up for this winter, and it'll be interesting to see where the wii u stands after Christmas.

I really don't understand the need to save the Wii U. Yes its under Nintendo's expectations but there is no question that it has an amazing exclusive lineup that hasn't relied on 3rd parties. Imagine if Sony didn't have 3rd parties this year. There would only be remasters for the holidays. I think this holiday isn't going to be mind blowing or as major as Smash or Zelda U maybe next holiday but I'm very excited for first party and indies. I think Nintendo knows they have to put a lot of focus into Star Fox as Xenoblade, Rodea the Sky Soldier, Project Zero and more are basically done but Star Fox needs some work before the holidays. I'm confident that they can deliver with all the extra Star Fox 2 inspirations and all the Platinum Games flair can hopefully boost people's interest as the big ticket for the Wii U that fans have asked about for years.

When you agree with it being 'under nintendo's expectations' what do you mean exactly? I didn't say that in the video. Nintendo are prepared for disappointing sales, sure, but they forecast higher revenue then the wii u is currently generating.

YING YANG Just exactly that. They are looking forward now and trying to offer as much varied content for the holidays to build up revenue both from software and amiibo. Maybe a year into the life of the Wii U before they started to provide more substantial content and big hits like Mario Kart and Smash Bros its clear that they needed saving but things are more steady. The Wii U is now a learning process in what they did wrong and didn't provide while also building an actual online community that the Wii didn't generate going forward. All I know is that I've been beyond happy with the exclusives they have provided but they realise that with the time taken to move over to HD and not really trying very hard after they just thought the Wii U would print money like the Wii, they got complacent. I know they want to move forward but I think they are fine for now. Heck if big hitters like Mario Kart, Smash, Splatoon, Super Mario Maker or possibly Zelda U next year don't persuade people to get a Wii U then at this stage I don't know what will so they should just focus on what they have and not dwell on mistakes.
