My dad worked as a palaeontologist for many years. He says that Turok 2 sold well over 3.6 trillion copies worldwide. So i think you better check your numbers.
Best Turok game(for me personally) 8yr old me just loved exploring this game with the cheat codes and using all the weapons on enemies. I was never passing the first stage with how big the levels were 😂.
Came to this after the Turok origins announcement. Turok 2 is probably the most metal game of all time . If they could had just made the level designs less confusion , I think it would have been look at in the same vein as Perfect dark and GoldenEye
Just stumbled upon this video thanks to the algorythm, and It's pretty great! A job well done, robot! I'll have a look at the rest of your channel, for sure!
bewareoblivionisathand I *LOVED* this game! You could even sort of play co-op by starting a multiplayer game and using the level warp cheat to go to a campaign mission IN SPLIT SCREEN!
@@Zerbraxi Only some of the levels work at all, and the more players you have the more likely it will break, but the fact that any of them work at all is pretty nuts. IIRC the final boss actually does work
Subscribed. As someone who enjoys King K and Liam Triforce, you fit right in my rotation. And I watch video game retrospectives a lot…for some reason. Keep it up brother.
Hello here from the retrospective of Turok Dinosaur Hunter lol. I just wanted to share a little funny story from when I was a toddler. I remember going to the mall once as probs like a 3-4 yr old and I had asked my dad if he could buy me a game for “The Nintendo” and me being illiterate at the time and my dad not knowing about esrb ratings I ended up getting Turok 2 Seeds of evil. Little would I know how gorey this game would be😂😂. We didn’t have a memory card for the 64 so we would always start with the game not saved, the neat thing was that my older brother found out about the BEWAREOBLIVIONISATHAND cheat code to unlock everything. It’s funny to think that Turok 2 was the first game I ever picked out on my own lol. Hope you enjoyed my long story haha. These retrospectives have been really nice to watch, thank you for your hard work!
From those big names you look up to I have watched Liam Triforce and of course James Rolfe, still occasionally watching hbomberguy. But what makes your content unique is your own personal takes on these, different personality and humour. In my opinion you are succeeding in providing a mix of the sources of inspiration you want to bring in these videos. It's why this is pretty much the only retro games channel I have stuck around and continue watching. Obscure as this content is, it's darn good and great at bringing the conversation that can be had around these games to my attention.
I will most likely edit this comment when I’m done watching but for now; All I’ve heard so far is, “Hello, and welco-“ and I just want to say that you dropping hour long videos about Turok 2 in 2024 makes me so damn happy. Haha Okay, back to the show.
Ten year old me thought the Cerebral Bore was the coolest thing EVER, me and a buddy used to 1v1 each other and would play matches where one of us could only use the bore and the other had infinite ammo and all weapons and it was a blast. Since then I've played a lot of games, I've used basically all the iconic power weapons in the halls of gaming, and after playing the remaster, the Cerebral Bore is still the coolest power weapon in any game and it really needs to come back. I do gotta say though... as much as I love Turok 2, the expansive campaign level design made it unbeatable to 10 year old me in the limited time I had access to it, and when teen me got a 64 and access to GameFaqs navigation was still a chore, and even with the level simplification in the Night Dive remaster I still spend most of Turok 2 lost af as an adult.
I agree with the sentiment of the level design. It's cool, but almost too much. I think a more focused experience could've made Seeds of Evil even better. That multiplayer setup with you and your friend sounds sooo much fun!
I'm glad to hear it! The goal is to cover the whole series. I may have to dip back to finish the last Star Fox video though still. For Turok though, Rage Wars would appear to be next.
I'm not a gamer at all. But I absolutely love Turok 2 Seeds of Evil! Beat it like 8 or 9 times and still want to play it! Friends are laughing at me "haha why do you like this crap so much it is complex as hell, the graphic is shitty and the enemies are all ridiculous. I would never try to spend time on this shit ever..." etc. etc. But I still love this game no matter what my friends think. It has something special. When I play T2, I understand why some people can enjoy in gaming, although it is "just a videogame" Thanks a lot for this video. I really appreciate your effort. Sorry for my english btw, it is not my first language.
This game was a tremendous amount of fun. I love how there’s a bunch of collectibles that reward exploration. Although, the backtracking was pretty annoying. That works in something like Metroid where you have this massive interconnected map, but not a game with separate levels. I’m so glad I played this on Steam and not the N64 because the framerate and controls are vastly superior.
I think the key reason Metroid "gets away" with backtracking, is because revisiting older areas can be done in a new with with your new equipment. It's definitely backtracking, but it also helps exemplify the growth and progress you've made. On a stage based game without persistent growth...it's just kinda silly. It's seriously though like the only REAL gripe I have with Seeds of Evil. Every other way it's an absolute BLAST!
@@ZerbraxiMetroid also has a way of teasing you with suspicious things that you can see but can't quite get to yet. It tickles your gamer juices like that. "LOOK! A banana-shaped marking on a wall but my gun only shoots Apple Shells right now.." you'll remember it later when you pick up the Banana Blaster in a completely different area. You're not even required to go back to it, but your gamer senses demand it of you!
@ it was frustrating being lost, searching, looking, lost…. But it was also soothing, in a way I haven’t got from other FPS’s…. and I’m not sure why ? I did have to cheat but only slightly… I couldn’t allow myself to be lost for ever in a virtual labyrinth.
When you mentioned cheat codes, I felt that. I too miss when games had unlockable stuff within the game. I mean, we still have cheat codes… we just call them micro-transactions now.
You can sequence break levels to minimize backtracking and have badass weapons in levels 2 and 4. I go 1,3,2,5,4,6. You technically need the torpedo launcher to get Primagen key 3. I think you will die going back because the water has a current.
Good point. I play them in direct order for videos since I imagine thats how most people will do it but I'd like to get better at mentioning options such as this.
I actually agree with you about it'd navigation, but it has so much more going on with it that I didn't have anywhere near the same frustration or notice the pacing halt as much.
Oh geese thanks Zerbraxi, now I have MORE GAMES I need to play. Who do you think you are suggesting me good games to play. P.s, Keep suggesting me good games
Cerebral Bore is still one of the coolest weapons in gaming and the best kind of boring. Bring it back, game devs! And you know I think you're right about the game. We truly are the Zerbraxi 🤔

apart from port of aida, the rest of the levels were way too complicated and convoluted...i did like the boss fights and the amazing soundtrack, but port of aida and maybe the lightship were the only levels i loved to replay.
It's funny you mention the replayability. If I was to replay Turok 1 vs 2 I would definitely pick the first. I like a lot about Seeds of Evil, clearly as I showed in the video, but Dinosaur Hunters more "playground" approach makes it more accessible on repeat playthroughs.
It is happening don't you worry. Life really got in the way last year, but it's coming. Finishing the 2024 retrospective script as I write this and also aiming to wrap up the final entry in the Star Fox series and then Turok will get its due attention once again.
Entertaining Review! I'm not a big fan of the acting sequences and I think the video is a little too long while you are sometimes repeating your statements. Just like Turok 2, less could have been more. Still good job and thanks for putting so much time and effort in it!
I worked deep inside of the games industry during the time of the release of Turok 2 and I can confirm it sold 550,000,000 units.
