I have utilized a protein prioritized keto diet for 5 years and added tirzepatide the past 6 months to take off the last 25 pounds. I have gone from 425 to 161 pounds and have optimized my bloodwork in the process.
Wow that's awesome! Keto has also worked well for my body and I continue doing it now that I'm on Zepbound. I lost 19 pounds before Zepbound and another 17 pounds so far. Carbs are not good for me..
I appreciate your explanations and yes, everyone is different. I keto diet and do 18-24 hrs fasting and 75% of the time, I do OMAD. One meal a day. I never snack. It is said that our bodies store fat or burn fat but never both at the same time. I want to eat enough but then, I want my body to burn fat the rest of the time. It works for me and I feel good doing that.
I’ve lost 73lbs since starting a glp1 in April 2024 and am now 6 lbs away from a healthy BMI. I’m currently on a 16:8 hour fasting schedule. I only eat between the hours of 10 am to 6 pm. The only diet changes I have made is to limit sweets, no processed food, make sure I get 50 g of protein daily, and drink plenty of water. I walk for an hour a day on a walking pad under my elevated work desk. Since I need to type for work, I walk super slow at 2 mph but have added a weighted vest recently. I make a point to practice good sleep hygiene and get 7-8 hours a night. Additionally, I’ve incorporated stress management techniques like meditation and saying ‘no’ to manage my daily stress. Since preliminary evidence suggests that Glp1s may reduce your weight set point. I’ve gone all in to try to lower my Set Point by eating good whole foods, managing stress, exercising, and getting good sleep. That’s it!
Since stopping mounjaro, I just have coffee with cream for breakfast with 2 fibre supplements and water. Lunch, I do the same with a low carb meal and then dinner I include complex carbs, fats and protein- whatever I feel like. Fibre (im taking two) supplements with water 10 mins before each meal and it has been such an effective appetite suppressant. Incredibly powerful! If I have carbs in the morning, I will inevitably eat more all day. This works so perfectly for me, I am stunned
I do a meat based diet. I have lost my weight on a GLP1. Now my doctor refuses to prescribe it anymore more. I have an appointment with a new doctor in 2 weeks. A meat based diet with as zero sugar as I can, helps with cravings and food noise. But I am not sure it’s sustainable. So far I feel great. Been of my glp1 for 2 months. Time will tell. Thank for your open mind 😊
KETO didn't work for me.and made me nauseous and constipated. Fasting with low carb worked for a bit but did not help me get anywhere near a normal weight. After 6 months on tirzepatide, I am at my goal weight (down 58 lbs) and maintaining for 4+ months (still taking tirzepatide).
My neighbors son has basically been on a carnivore diet since he was little. Very bad epilepsy. Worked wonders for his condition. I agree with you, in the right circumstances, that diet approach can be life changing. (Kevin 😂😂😂must be a whippet thing, my whippet cross does the same thing). I just have a "normal" diet on zepbound, just eat less food.
I do fast one day a week. I can’t do carnivore because I generally don’t like a ton of meat, but I’m not vegan or vegetarian. I try to eat a variety. Thanks Ali.
No labels. I just naturally eat low carb because most of them do not work with my system, lean protein, low-ish fat (no gallbladder) and slow carbs like oatmeal, rye, sourdough.
I aim for about 50-70g carbs a day, prioritizing protein and attempting to prioritize vegetables. Sometimes I like a little rice, oats, sourdough, or potatoes but try not to go crazy. I allow myself to eat what I want and with the actual normalization of my brain’s signals with Zepbound I can tell I do feel better eating this way. I feel pretty crummy if I have a high sugar dessert or a high fat bunless cheeseburger situation. All that said, if this stall lasts much longer I can see myself considering carnivore or strict keto as a reset.
I dunno, I spend way less now that I’m eating keto/carnivore, I mostly eat eggs, beef, heavy cream in my coffee, I utilize a protein powder in my coffee too. I don’t eat cheese or other dairy hardly ever because it doesn’t make me feel great. I still also eat (not every day) certain veggies and berries etc But as far as cost goes….I spend way less now because my meals now have less ingredients. 1lb of regular ground beef is 1500 calories and $5.99 per pound where I live. I think the biggest thing that happens for people whether doing keto or carnivore is they end up cutting out so much processed stuff, that’s why they do better. I think the best thing for any of us is going to be eating some variation of healthy fats, meats, veggies and fruit, and cutting out processed sugar, processed grains (flour) just sticking to Whole Foods. For me, I LOVE cheese but I just couldn’t continue eating it because it made me feel so crappy same thing with store bought milk. Now eggs are beyond insane so I’ve cut back on them and eating more chicken and beef. The only time I had issue with constipation was the first two weeks then once my stomach acids adjusted we are good to go, also when I was still eating cheese that would always cause an issue. When I hit a long stall I’ll have some higher starch veggies and maybe some rice or pasta and continue back to meat based the next day or two. Also for women we need more fat and if we aren’t getting enough we may become super hangry 😅
Hi Ali 👋 I love your videos 🎉. Actually today someone told me or recommended me to fast .I'm a type 2 diabetic and fasting is not for me .if I do that I feel shaky ,feel like my sugar is low and after I eat I feel good .and also feel like up in space😁.
I got the news 2 days ago from my functional MD (based on my labs) that I have to go grain free and super super clean for my health concerns. I was so sad. I love sourdough bread very much. I have autoimmune (Epstein Barr and Hashimoto's), inflammation due to severe allergies, and liver issues. This is day 3. I am on 6mg of Tirz and will not go up. My weight is going down slowly ~ about 2 pounds a month and I have about 30 more pounds to lose so I'm ok staying on this dose (or lower) for life. I was hopeful that Tirz would correct my health concerns in a BIGGER way, but that has not been the case. I also do not drink or smoke so I guess I am doing everything I can to get well. Finally, I am no spring chicken and it's now or never. 😁 I love your channel!💕 If it's ok, I will let you know via a comment what my labs are like in 3 months.
Aren’t we all over diet culture?! I will never eat in a way that cuts any food group out again. I did that for 33 years and these meds have eliminated that horrible way of living for me, personally.
Apart from GLP1 (38+ lbs down in 4 months) the carnivore way of eating has been my most successful and sustainable diet and I did it for 2 years on and off and lost 45lbs, felt great and really improved my blood markers (yes really!!) and arthritis all but went away. My problem is always my BRAIN not my hunger and the links to low mood and self esteem and when those mental demons came for me the satiety/lack of hunger and very reduced cravings on carnivore were sadly no match. I feel as good on a GLP 1 as I did on carnivore and still eat quite a red meat heavy diet with no digestion issues except when I go up a dose for a week and then it resolves. I am on Mounjaro so have the GIP as well as the GLP and I am not sure which works of the brain but whichever it is it has shut down the food noise and cravings and is the missing element to my food issues. I love that you made this video and that you are opening your mind, overall I am on board with you and I like someone who is willing to consider an opposing viewpoint. Bravo Ali
I learned who Andarna is last night when I was reading when I couldn’t sleep in the middle of the night! Fun times ahead! Low carb higher protein eating works best for me and how I feel and lose weight, but to each his own.
Last February my husband and I embarked on a 6-week carnivore test just to kickstart. We are big time meatasaurs, we did well. I started at 233 and ended mid-March at 13lbs loss. I didn’t gain them back at all. The inflammation I lost helped me to walk and to feel confident to go back to the gym where I hired a trainer to help me starting April 1. I lost two lbs on regular food and weightlifting and walking and on April 29 I started Mounjaro because with all of that, my blood glucose wouldn’t budge below 130 fasting and 160s anytime. So while I know some carnivores with high BG or diabetes full blown can utilize the meat and minus all else to accomplish beautiful numbers and health, I couldn’t. And yes, the budget was insane!! It’s a yummy diet and satiating in general, but sometimes you just need a taco Edited to add: since starting MJ and including all food groups and a healthy diet I’m down to 157 with 22 lbs to goal.
I agree. I think some people call that “dirty keto.” I eat 50-75g of carbs/day. This was prescribed to me by my obesity doctor, and it works FOR ME (I feel like that’s the important part… we have to find what works for us.)
I have increased my protein intake since last week, & so far I’m am able to control the munchies. And I thank you for recommending the Fairlife (I think it’s called) protein shake because it is the best I have tasted to date.
I was on the carnivore diet just before starting Tirzepitide. I LOVED IT! It didn't love me. Wouldn't even let me lose a single pound in 8 months! I gained 3 lbs over that time. Maybe it was muscle but I had 80 lbs to lose and felt betrayed by all the docs who touted the weight would fall off. They also don't talk about perimenopause and how that can totally jam up your weight loss. Ahhhhh, I love Kevin!! 😂❤ Anyways, I love Adrian too. I do believe with GLP-1 carnivore is more effective but I'm definitely not going back to it solely, but protein is priority, I will continue to eat vegetables and anything else. This is not a diet for me, the GLP. Hey, that rhymes 😂
This was my story too! My PCP loves the keto/carnivore diet and I tried it and never lost weight. Purchased the keto stix to make sure I was in ketosis and everything....switched to GLP1's back in August and the weight started coming off. 40lbs down and 24 more to go! I do prioritize protein now, but am not fully eliminating carbs. No processed foods.
Overall the Carnivore diet saves me money on food. I shop the sales and stock up, buy “managers specials” and buy in bulk. Since I am not buying anything else, only meat, eggs and dairy: no snack foods, no produce that may go bag and get thrown away, and no processed foods, the saving really add up. Am I telling you go to carnivore? YES! Everyone should try it at least once for at least 30 days (but ideally for 90 days).
I have tried it all and been partially successful, but never was able to lose it all and keep off what I lost. I'm hoping this time w compound Tirzepitide I will have success. I have lost 56 lbs since July 1 2024 !!!
This is just informational - Being vegan is an ethical stance against animal exploitation. Diet is a part of it, but not all of it. It's simply wanting to cause less harm to animals. A person "EATING plant based or vegan" is for health. They may or may not be vegan. A person can be just one of these, or a person can be both of these, but they are not the same. Again, just informational. I do understand that you are talking about diet here on this channel.
I am very concerned about H5N1 and it’s effect on our food supply. Eggs were cheap, easy protein. No more. Chicken is about to skyrocket and so is turkey. Millions of poultry have been put down this week alone. I know I rely heavily on both. It is going be tough. Also the price of whey protein will go up to as more dairy herds catch it too
I did carnivore for about a year. I'm a food addict and i got addicted to cream and put on 3 stone. Its not for me. I currently just eat a lowish fat balanced diet via the slimming world eating plan, with as little upf as poss, and have lost 2 stone. I'm experimenting with less carby meals, so no porridge (get roaring hunger with porridge, and snack) and for my evening meal where poss, no pasta or rice. I feel no worse so will keep on with it.
I’ve never done carnivore, but when I was first diagnosed with T2D, the diabetes educator told me that if I had trouble getting my blood sugar under control (this was pre-MJ), I could do a couple of months of carnivore to kickstart things. I was eating so horribly at the time that just cleaning up my diet got things back to normal, so I never did the carnivore thing. It’s a little too restrictive for my taste. Re: veganism… I know some folks who are vegan on these meds and they still work really hard to eat a high protein diet. If I would have gone vegan, I probably would have GAINED weight. After all, Oreos are vegan for Pete’s sake! 🤪
I have done carnivore and lost weight. Unfortunately I have a freezer full of steak and bacon I CANNOT eat on Tirzepatide. Can no longer handle high fat foods of any kind, including French fries. Not an option any longer.
I'm a faster but naturally lol. I can't eat until I've been up for hours which usually puts me in a 16 hour fast. I don't try to and if I'm hungry when I get up, I eat. I use all food groups with my meals. I had to learn that I need carbs to exercise after being on Keto for so long.
I have done low carb in the past it works well for me. Sugar is like Crack Cocaine to me once I start it hard for me to stop . On GLP-1s I have still doing lower carb but nothing is off limits once a month this past year I go to Culvers and get a double cheese burger and fries I split the fries with my two dogs they lover culver's day LOL . Luckily for me GLP-1s have taken my sweet tooth that monkey is off my back . Right now it is Girl scout cookie time and I could care less. That is a first for me LOL.
I started a loose form of IF five years ago to help manage my fasting blood sugars, and I have continued while on mounjaro. I eat my first meal around noon, but if I’m hungry when I wake up, I still do have a protein shake. Don’t eat red meat, but do you eat all other food groups in moderation.
I’ve done keto, carnivore, low carb with fasting for years switching back and forth. But as I’ve been on a glp1 for 8m now I’ve developed aversions to most meats like I’m pregnant. I wonder how many develop food aversion while on these meds 😐

Love your videos first thing to get my day going. They don't all pertain to me but thats fine, I love watching anyhow.
Thank you❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I do keto. I spend less money. I have PCOS, insulin resistant, and type 2 diabetic. I found keto very helpful.
I do a meat based diet. I have lost my weight on a GLP1. Now my doctor refuses to prescribe it anymore more. I have an appointment with a new doctor in 2 weeks. Love the bloopers. These are tools in the tool belt sometimes useful but definitely not one size fits all.
keto + intermittment fasting has changed my life along with mounjaro.

I like your point that the carnivore diet is just too expensive.
I don’t agree with carnivore being expensive. It’s simple and you pass all the other stuff
@@AlbertaIvy754 you can use ground beef or turkey for lots of things. Eggs and bacon.🥓
I fast..... I don't eat after 4:00 p.m. until approximately 10:00 a.m.

Tried keto didn't work, tried fasting didn't work. Get low 💃🏾 get low 💃🏾
I did the South Beach diet which was awful. It didn't work and was depressing.
