I feel, Australia has better chance. Their batters are better than England and on the home soil, their bowling look very decent. England can match Australia in bowling, but English batting is certainly weaker.

@@WeloveFooty2939 on paper, Australia looks better as a batting unit than England. They will enjoy their home advantage as well. Sadly England’s bating line up is fragile - except for Root. Even Stokes is an unknown quantity given he hasn’t played cricket for 6 months. We just have to hope someone gets some form and that Root holds onto his. I was going to say it could be a long hard series but my fear is that it will not be anywhere near as long as advertised.

Great podcast - good mix of humility about their own experiences in Australia and insight into what it takes to win there. Nasser is right though - big first innings runs are more often than not the key to winning in Australia. England have focused on super speed bowlers but that is because they don’t have confidence their batsmen can score big runs. There is no evidence super fast bowlers will make the difference and I don’t think England ever thought it was the answer but it was all they had to say they were different from the last time they toured.

you need atleast 3 140 plus , accurate bowlers in your playing 11, to bowl to a plan. 1 good spinner, which is not leach. one sure keeper who is in the side to keep primarily, meaning the best keeper not keeper who can bat, and to take calls on drs. atleast 5 good and dependable batsmen, you have 2 in Root and Stokes. assortment of Sibley diibley dobbley isn't going to be enough. remember Cummins is the captain , so nobody is going to take the ball off him. to put it mildly as things stand, you are going to have a torrid time.

England only have one batsman who averages above 45 career wise that's Joe Root , who doesn't have a great record in Australia .. Australia have 2 who average 60+ and Warner averages over 45 , that's a big difference .

In the 2019 ashes, they were very lucky not to lose that series 3-1. They regularly lose around 2 tests every home season. Aus will win this ashes 5-0 (barring rain) and any other prediction is pure delusion.

I slightly disagree with the point that 300 runs in the 1st innings is not enough in Australia. India last year didn't have a single 400+ total but still won. The Australian batting except for Smith, Marnus & Warner doesn't strike fear in you so 300 totals could be enough.

    • @educationworld9699

England don't have fast bowlers to take Australian wickets in australia and i think only robinson will be lethal in australia so australia will easily score 400+ score and don't forget Australia score in first 2 test and in last two test india batted brilliantly on day 5

@@educationworld9699 The Indian bowlers came with a very detailed plan against the Australian batsmen. The Indian batsmen batted well on the last day at Sydney & Brisbane but I feel the Australian bowlers were tired particularly on that last day in Brisbane. It'll all be about how mentally tough England are because if there was a reason why India won that series it was because they were mentally strong and didn't lose the plot inspite of that 36 all out, the racism row & all the injuries.

I'd like to mention before, inevitably, someone else does that India are the best team and Kohli is the greatest batsman. Oh, and by the way, sadly, Australia will beat us 5-0 unless it keeps raining for the next couple of months. I don't mind being proved wrong on that though.

It’s the first time I’ve ever thought it might be 5-0. It would be a big shock if the series is close imo. Hopefully I’m wrong, if Smith and Labuschagne don’t fire and we take out catches we could pressurise them. Just don’t know who will help Root and maybe Stokes get enough runs.

No way round it. We’re going to get hammered. Bowlers like Woakes, Anderson and Broad aren’t as effective in Australia, our best spinner doesn’t play Tests, and we only have only one reliable batter in Root against the best pace attack in the world (certainly in their conditions) although Stokes might have one of his superman days at some point. Probably in a losing cause.
Plus Smith and Labuschagne will fill their boots, even if the rest of their batting is iffy. Oh, and we have the equal (with Bangladesh) worst catching record of any of the top Test nations currently. And had virtually no practice. So we’ll be lucky to avoid a 5-0 unfortunately.

Australian cricketers won't change - their mantra is to win at all cost. Notwithstanding all the tears Steve Smith, Paine and the rest were more sorry that they were discovered with their pants down. Given the slimmest of chances they would seize the first opportunity to bend or break the rules to suit their interests.
