I try my best not to do it with Asmon, since I really relate to his thoughts a lot, usually don't think that much different from his opinions about same things. But to me, every "idol" has a dark past. I had a dark past. We humans do bad things, what we should do is to separate the ones who learn from past experiences from the people who knows what they're doing but keep on doing anyways.
Never put anyone on a pedestal, they will always disappoint you. Well are all humans, we all do fucked up shit. It’s just that some get caught and some people do more worse things than others. Everyone wears a mask tho

"No adult would believe these dumb RUclips videos made for kids". Well there are many good reasons why broadcast children's television is highly regulated. New media just hasn't quite caught up yet.
The "made for kids" things is just for monetization purposes. As long as the video doesn't break any of RUclips's guidelines set under "made for kids", you can label your video as such, which I assume, offers the most value for monetization.
@Desolat-e 100% agreed. It's not RUclips's or any other site's responsibility to monitor your children. Children shouldn't be on these sites in the first place. HOW ABOUT YOU WATCH YOUR KIDS! Just more of this culture of blame-shifting.

The problem with Asmon downplaying all the manipulation tactics is that he's not seeing it from the perspective of a gullible child. Yes, adults will know it's not all real, but children won't. He's farmed an audience of children that genuinely think they have a chance of being randomly selected to win something when they don't. An audience like this is more likely to buy merch and watch every video for a "chance."

In legal terms, there is no problem. Jst morally disliking something is nothing worth talking about. And just because he says he's 'fine' with it doesn't mean he LOVES it. That is your own interpretation and nothing he actually said.
@terjehansen0101 and yet, in legal terms, there are problems. It is illegal to do these sweepstakes and lotteries the way Jimmy is doing. Also, he is being hypocritical by being “fine” with what Jimmy is doing. If Jimmy was smaller and someone else, he would have gotten racked against the coals as has been done to other people who did the exact same thing. People idolize Jimmy and will over look it even if his misdoings are ILLEGAL.
Asmon's moral compass on scamming is so skewed. He was known as the biggest scammer back in WoW times - but his mindset never really seemed to change. Like; when he got confronted with the charity stream debacle (only 42%* of the donated money actually going to charity and the rest to the management and asmond) he just ignored it and shut down any posts about it on the subreddit. That isn't needed however if Mr. Beast put a "for entertainment" clause on the contracts contestants sign.
It's funny you say that. The 'Beast' in some religions is actually the messiah, and Mr Beast for a little while went around doing things that made him seem like Jesus, curing the blind, walking on water could be seen as him going to Africa and walking around until he found wells for the poor.

Asmon, to be fair at the start of the video the guy brought up that MrBeast is establishing himself as an authority to these kids, and you said you don’t think this is a problem unless it’s also misused. When this guy was bringing up the Feastables and Zacksbys products being pushed to kids, he was making the point that his authority was abused.

They never said the game shows were unscripted or real in any way - and they always referred to where the games took place as a "stage". The same goes for WWE - they never claim to be real in any way. Saying "real people win real money" on a game show back in the day was normal - because random people from the audience DID win money, and only a few were paid actors, however, the contract they signed going onto the game show also specified that the winner would have to pay a tax for the money or prizes they won. Paid actor and contestant alike, there was no difference besides one paid to be there and the other was being paid to be there. Everyone knew, it just wasn't talked about on the show itself, even the viewers knew. If you’re in the US, report to the FTC and your state Attorney General’s office. You can also report internet scams to the FBI directly on their website
The guy’s definition of “not bad” is just if it’s “legal.” If it’s “legal,” then we’re all good. That just speaks volumes about his morals more than anything. He talks about “well MrBeast could have done this or that to get around this or that regulation.” No. Misleading children is bad. Period. Just because the legal system hasn’t caught up to RUclips as it has to TV doesn’t make it any more morally okay.
I goin to give Asmon some benefits of doubt. I think he got alot PTSD in his position. Then again, sometime ego cant stop the real emotion to disturb his logic.

And it's not the kids part that's bad. It's the gambling. I don't care if the ppl are 20-30-50 years old, he is making a gambling game, he was straight up scamming ppl. You could walk up to houses 1 by 1 and ask for $20 so they can pick a number between 1 and 100.000. And if they figure out the number you got in your head, they'll get $1000. If you could do that, everyone would do it because it would f. work. You would make a profit at the end of the day.
At some point you have to set logic aside and use your moral judgement. Psychologically exploiting someone, whether the victim is naïve or not, is garbage behavior.
And this is why you my friend will never be successful and would be a horrible politician/leader. Psychologically exploiting others is the very foundation of what sets the 1% apart from the 99%. sometimes logic is more important than morality, would you sacrifice 1 innocent person to save 9 others? Can you stop blaming the victims for believing people? That's how scams work. Kids especially. People who get scammed may be vulnerable but it is generalising and small minded to call them stupid and blame them.
All we can do to stop scams is keep people from falling for them, spread the word about things you shouldn't trust. Most scams are legal thievery, and the majority of victim blamers have no way to tackle the problem's engine, so they instead blame the hapless fuel that keeps it going.

Sentence by sentence I don’t think you said a single truthful thing. He calls him a scammer and scummy. He doesn’t call out other creators for encouraging gambling, he’s literally left his house to collab with Train (Kick gambler/founder). Asmon left his house.
Take Dhar Mann, that whole case was crazy, and he focused his content towards children so it was a lot easier for him to get support from his audience and he got away scot free. SSSniperwolf, well, so far as I know, she has still not faced any real justice either.
its insane how do you defend jimmy, the burgers scam was all his fault, he blames the company he hired but in truth was his choice, the business model was awful
What do you mean scam? The company did what he said they was going to do. Mr. Beast is currently in a law suit. He's arguing that the quality is not what he agreed to, the other company arguing that he's trying to get out of contractual obligations. The jury is generally not suppose to know who they are before hand, so they'd be more of a neutral ground. Therefore it is up in the air right now for who's going to win.
I don't think the chocolate itself was the problem, it was more like "buy my chocolate to win x prize" the guy literally turning the snack into a lootbox of some sort
The chocolate is a problem, Today people see sugar as benign, in 20 years people will hopefully see it as they do alcohol and cigarettes. Back in the day people didn't bat an eye at a child trying some alcohol or passively smoking next to their parents. If you do that now most will look at you with absolute disgust and the parents could be charged with child abuse. Not feeding your children healthy food, or teaching them proper nutrition is child abuse. The fact that these products are legal is insanity, its killing over 40% of the population, a slow and painful death.
@@solarydays So? He's still lying at people's faces, and he lies about caring for health issues when his product is less healthy. Also, you still can't lie in the advertisement of the product. The chocolate is also a problem, since kid will buy lots of the chocolate to have a chance of winning a prize. What happen to lots of the chocolate they bought? They most definitely eat it. So Mrbeast do really promote obesity to children
It seems it's hard for Asmon to relate to a lot of commenters on this, when he becomes a parent maybe he will understand the outrage. I feel like if a content creator wants to be safe, they have to take a safe stance until it becomes completely obvious they won't get cancelled for doing something like dissing the biggest one of them all. I'm really annoyed when Asmongold shows 0 sympathy to people who have a brain that's highly vulnerable to gambling and just calling them idiots and moving on. As someone who has such a brain it is a constant struggle to fight against the impulses to just gamble on things. This is especially difficult as someone who enjoys youtube and gaming because every add has ben psychologically designed to target specifically people who are sensitive to gambling and what Mr Beast seemingly does is the same. And Asmon simply calling people who act on it idiots and moving on is just such a horribly bad take. It feels on the same level to me as saying that people who die in war-torn are just idiots for living there instead of calling them victims of circumstance. This comparison might be a bit extreme, but I have difficulty finding a more equal comparison that properly shows how I feel about this issue.
you aren't forced to gamble your money away, your issues are your own to work on, the world isn't required to walk footsteps around you. insensitive, sure, but you not being able to control yourself, or working on the issue that affects you is your own problem. this is how the modern world functions, it's never gonna change, and its probably gonna get worse, its basic human nature, so you need to find a way to work though your own impulses.
@@virtualdominus5504 I never said the world needs to adapt to me, I'm just saying being called an idiot for having been born with something akin to a disability should not straight up get you called an idiot. I do manage my impulses, but for someone who was simply born with a condition making them vulnerable to gambling, it is at minimum very annoying, at worst very difficult to ignore the nonstop impulses of your brain to engage in these gambling practices. The issue isn't that the world supposedly needs to walk on eggshells around people with this condition, but the world is actively attacking these people and that is the issue. Imagine being lactose intolerant and it's an extremely hot day and instead of ice cream parlors just existing, they're constantly walking up to you shoving ice cream in your face nonstop over and over telling you it's delicious, it'll feel great in this heat to have one, it won't do any harm, just take one, here, first one is free. Impulse control is important and it is something I learned, but that doesn't mean the impulses are gone and the world is in a state where every company is designing everything to attack those impulses viciously and rewarded for it. And in the world of gaming and youtube, there are no regulations that state they can't conduct literal psychological warfare on the people who are most susceptible to it and that is the issue. And acting like people who are struggling with this are just idiot is such a terrible take that shows either a lack of knowledge, a lack of empathy, or both. And you say "you aren't forced to gamble" you don't know what it is for every gambling add your brain just screaming at you with all its force to engage with it. Am i literally being forced? No, but psychologically it gets extremely close, not engaging in it can literally feel like dying from thirst and having a glass of water handed to you. Except instead of being allowed to accept the water, you have to avoid taking it.
@@virtualdominus5504 PS, I'm not English so I'm doing my best to articulate my point without being aggressive or attacking. It is a sore point for me and I don't expect sympathy for the condition, I don't expect people to adjust how the world works just for me, all I want is to try and spread information so people can understand how it is and simply stop calling people with my conditions idiots and morons just because they have this condition. Learning to control your impulses is very important for people in my situation and I agree with the point that this needs to be learned, all I ask is to not be insulted just for struggling with these issues.

Him faking videos is bad because having dozens of employees, friends and families pose as random people, rigging challenges to have certain people win is illegal. And the fact that there’s friends of his that are mixed in with actual random people makes it worse because they don’t have a chance of winning so why invite them in the first place
1:26:20 I actually can explain it. So I don't actually stock the shelves or anything, but I get asked by customers to "Check the back" for dumb shit like this all the same. SO, what we do is we say "Sure thing." And then we walk into the Employee's only area and do a random thing. Go get some water from the break room, go check your schedule cause Management changes it without telling you, do a CBL (Computer based learning), go pee, whatever. You do that, then you go back and say "I'm sorry, I could not find it. They are still unloading the trucks." We get it, you want stuff, but if it's not on the floor, it's not available. Problem is we always have That Guy who knows we have tons of stuff in the back. We do, but it's a lot of unloaded, incorrectly priced, scheduled, disorganized chaos. We don't know shit, cause we only care about our own specific work. The managers don't even know wtf is going on most of the time!
Just to add on to this, I'm not sure about American stores but i used to delivery to Tescos via HGV, unlike warehouses the stock isn't kept on shelves but inside cages a regular trailer could bring over 30 and double that if it was a double decker trailer, depending on the size of the store there could be a 10 or so cages waiting to be unpacked just in storage alone, the product will be isle specific but jumbled up usually without much care, unless the item you want is in a cage is in view there is absolutely no chance of someone finding extra stock of this specific item.
When I was in high school in the 2005-2009 timeframe I would walk to the Walmart by my school during lunch break and buy video games on release day sometimes, and often they didn't have those on display yet for some reason and I would ask them to check the back and they would almost always come out with it. So I found an exception to this rule personally. I think once they said the shipment was late before they even checked in the back which means they knew it was supposed to be there but there was a delay. I also remember making the Walmart employee at the same one call another one in my city to see if they had PS3s back in 2011 in stock which he kept telling me "I am sure they don't have any either", as I listened and watched him call for me and find out they had many of them in stock. I still buy physical games of course like 80% of them is online and the other 20% is picking them up at Best Buy and rarely Target or Gamestop.
As an ex manager at a CVS we genuinely didn’t have anything in the back 90% of the time I still checked and wanted other people to check but if we’re back in 1-2 minutes it’s not because we were being lazy it’s literally not there lol
I worked at a grocery store in High School and a lot of stuff we couldn’t touch yet in the back because the manager was already gone but we got a shipment in later in the day and they don’t do inventory until the morning when the manager is back so we have to let it sit because the system will be off

It requires exponents, thats too complicated. Man i had to explain to a 30y/o that 1÷0 doesnt equal 1... Arguing with intelligent people is hard but arguing with dumb people is borderline impossible.
omg was he not able to solve the monty hall problem as well ? Thats a super counter intuitive fact - the dice one. Children just go to school by themselvves on bikes when they are like 6 years old, go outside and are just protected from ALL of this scummy stuff hence making it better. I heard Asmond saying quite often "I don't care that much about this" and yeah maybe it isn't applicable to you but it doesn't mean you shouldn't care.. I dont believe Asmon realizes how many of these social problems overlap, and in particular, how both parents needing to work to survive makes quality parenting nearly impossible. Kids are alone on the internet more than ever, and corps smell profit.
I'm ashamed at your blind support for Mr. Beast here. The fact that you defended many of Mr. Beasts actions despite recognizing that they're evil and horrible, purely because you think they are "profitable" and Mr. Beast will "eventually get to fixing them" is shameful. Simply because he's the biggest RUclipsr does not justify you trying to stay on his good-side to make sure that you're on good terms with everybody, again, for personal benefit. That goes to show your own credibility to your audience, and I don't think you realize that not all of your audience are gullible children that are easily manipulated with baseless views. I didn't expect you to turn out to be such a sell-out.
By now, I'm convinced that there probably isn't a single influencer with a huge following who hasn't been negatively affected by their success and become a leech.
5 Guys was named that because 5 brothers started the business. Its just that simple. Has nothing to do with rhyming with burgers and fries. "The name Five Guys comes from the Murrell family, who founded the restaurant in 1986 in Arlington, Virginia: Jerry Murrell and his wife Janie gave their five sons, Jim, Matt, Chad, Ben, and Tyler, the choice of going to college or starting a business with the money they had saved for their education. The boys chose to start a restaurant, and Jerry thought it would be a great way to keep the family together. The name "Five Guys" is a reference to Jerry and his sons, who are all working in the business. However, after Tyler was born, Jerry sometimes says that the name only refers to his sons, excluding himself."
I get the "it doesn't seem like a big deal" attitude, but when you get down to the nitty gritty it's something that shouldn't be allowed. Advertising to children is outright banned in many countries because children are susceptible to even non-parasocial advertising, often believing anything advertised to them as reality and being incapable of distinguishing between someone trying to sell you something and an authoritative figure telling them something is the way it is. I have nothing against Mr. Beast, but if he wasn't a nice guy that we assume he is he could mobilize his army of brainwashed kids to do insane stuff. We all know that Mr. Beast wields an insane amount of actual, real power just with his social status. There was discussion of him literally becoming the President if he was somehow allowed to run, because that's an actual imaginable reality. And having that influence over adults is serious, having it over highly susceptible children is far worse because it's more long-lasting and reality-changing for them. There are plenty of studies that show children are susceptible even to suggestions from faceless media. That's why countries ban advertising to children. So it's fair to raise the issue of Mr Beast, or RUclipsrs in general doing exactly that. This shouldn't be a video to tear down Mr. Beast, but rather a call for legislation and scientific research into the impact that RUclipsrs have over children. It was a serious concern, and was proven to be a problem, with advertising to children; it's not hard to imagine that youtube videos and parasocial relationships are many times worse. Basically, as with his point with how game shows on TV have strict laws... in general there are a lot of laws about broadcasting and television in general for a reason. Those laws exist because there are legitimate concerns. If youtubers have been on the "it's a legitimate career" rant for decades, and we've seen that there are billions of dollars in the industry... youtube is the new television, and if there was legitimate reason to regulate television, that same logic applies to youtube.
I respect your opinion, but I disagree with the position. To regulate RUclips because content creators have the capacity to be creepy and perverse is like regulating the sidewalks because strangers could be creepy. We outlaw the illegal activity occurring on said space, but anything beyond that is the result of bad parenting. It's the internet. They can type in PH and find very explicit content with the only firewall from 'big brother' being a little button that makes you pinky promise you're 18+ years old. Parents have a responsibility to teach their children what adults to trust into their personal lives and who not to. They have a responsibility to teach their own children not to share too personal of details on the internet. They are responsible for illustrating how to use good judgement. They need to play a role in their own child's lives rather than throw them the ipad at age 4 and turn them loose on the world. I don't want to live in a world where we have to censor literally everything and hand over more power to big media conglomerates to regulate our speech and areas of conversing and exchanging ideas. You mention youtube but it's the internet. There's GroupMe, Snapchat, Discord, Instagram, Myspace, Reddit, TikTok, Etc. There will always be avenues of communication through which people will do bad things. Barriers are meant to hinder enough to dramatically decrease harm without too severely restricting the average would-be user of said space. So my reasoning is, we can both protect kids AND reduce barriers and cost (literally and metaphorically) to interacting in the online space by putting the responsibility into the hands not of a government body to regulate, but the parents and children who are most responsible for teaching said kids how to live a life in the modern world with such digital access to the world at our fingertips.
There wasn't any legitimate reason to regulate tv-it was a mob panic. Anyways children being susceptible to advertising literally is just Everyone, that's why we do fucking advertising, it works. We're all susceptible to it. Television laws like age ratings are quite literally arbitrary standards set with the sensibilities of puritanical parentswho can't take so much as a 'hell'.
It’s quite like big YTubers to defend this kind of action. After all they were in his videos, they got the prizes, they had colabs, they are his friends, and if not they want to be him/ they already do stuff he does. I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot more RUclipsrs did some ducked up stuff makes me sad that even the supposedly kind role models are lying to kids and even worse videos like this defending their actions.

Now, I have to destroy their faith in humanity before they even get started. I understand the money to be made, but marketing to kids is wrong.
For an eight year old child they should be watching reruns of Mr. Rodgers and Sesame Street. Most of what is marketed for children today is outright ethically and morally awful though legal.

@@nechitamarius1 Back in the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and even 00s, many game shows would pick people from the audiences and have them participate. It was stated that the game show was "filmed in front of a live audience" and contestants were picked from the crowd. It's how we got the phrase "imagine the taxes on that gift", a phrase popular with older people who watch game shows.
EXTRA//SOURCE:
I remember my mother, her sisters, and their friends going on these shows to try and win prizes, and some did. The Price Is Right, Supermarket Sweep, Jeopardy, Family Feud, and the rest of them. It stopped because inflation got bad and the taxes on the prizes became just as much as the prizes themselves. Companies were losing money and forced to shut down.

That's what I said under his videos when ppl wrote stuff like "that made me cry", "you are helping so much". That's all bs. Those that are helping others or the world, simply do not record it. IF they do like Attenborough, there's a very very very straight goal. That kind of recording is acceptable. When you record that you buy 10 burgers for the homeless, that's totally not acceptable. STILL, the majority somehow ok with it. I helped others in various ways, I never ever had the thought to record it. It's a crazy world..
The fact that you call out other channels for doing what Mr. Beast does and call them “scammers” but because it’s him he’s automatically some sort of pioneer? Honestly this was a telling foreshadow for how most bigger channels are gonna react. Scamming kids only seems to matter when it’s a channel smaller than you doing it.
He's financially incentivized to sweep this under the rug. Him and Mr. Beast are part of nightmedia
Asmongold literally compared Mr Beast to Jesus in a few videos already, I was not surprised that he would defend Mr Beast. Asmongold is an industry asset now, he won't be attacking the biggest industry plant asset.
Scam is such an overused word
@@moma8518 Overused because Mr Beast overdoes it.
He featured in his video right? See thats also an advantage you get when you're big and u collaborate wid everyone. No one dares to speak against u!
I don't think the chocolate itself was the problem, it was more like "buy my chocolate to win x prize" the guy literally turning the snack into a lootbox of some sort
facts
The chocolate is a problem, Today people see sugar as benign, in 20 years people will hopefully see it as they do alcohol and cigarettes. Back in the day people didn't bat an eye at a child trying some alcohol or passively smoking next to their parents. If you do that now most will look at you with absolute disgust and the parents could be charged with child abuse. Not feeding your children healthy food, or teaching them proper nutrition is child abuse. The fact that these products are legal is insanity, its killing over 40% of the population, a slow and painful death.
Maybe it's also the fact that Jimmy claims that it's healthy when it has as much sugar as a coka cola can.
@@solarydays So? He's still lying at people's faces, and he lies about caring for health issues when his product is less healthy. Also, you still can't lie in the advertisement of the product. He advertises Feastables and claims that they are better than the alternatives. The only thing close to being better is the taste only because there's an additional 100 grams of sugar.
If his kid grew up watching youtube loving Mr Beast then these allegations came out that their hero is associating with "MAPs", Asmon might feel differently. Before you say "I wouldn't let my kids on youtube", their friends ALL watch Mr Beast, the guy is literally everywhere and extremely popular with young kids.
About the comparison to wrestling, I'm pretty sure John Cena wasn't logging into the WWE reddit and discord talking to minors. RUclipsrs have way too much accessibility to kids in comparison to legacy media and the fact that Mr Beast didn't stop his employees DMing children across multiple platforms is WILD. I don't believe for 1 second he didn't know all of this was going on.
Last thing I'll say is NDAs aren't enforceable when crimes are being committed.

They are still unloading the trucks."
We get it, you want stuff, but if it's not on the floor, it's not available.
I worked at a grocery store in High School and a lot of stuff we couldn’t touch yet in the back because the manager was already gone but we got a shipment in later in the day and they don’t do inventory until the morning when the manager is back so we have to let it sit because the system will be off
I usually tell people we dont keep anything in the back. We unload everything daily by X. They either deal with it or leave the store

So when advertiser advertise toys or things from kids tv shows to children how does that factor in??
I ain't going to read all that. Also, cope.
It is strange that all this started coming out against him almost the very day he started talking about presidency lol
Asmon has said he hate when people being dishonest but somehow in this video he trying to defend Mr.Beast so hard.
was shocked and saddened from his response, defending these actions was sickening to watch and lost some respect in doing so
He is afraid that if he says anything bad about MrBeast he will lose his job.

If nothing happened to Logan Paul for everything hes done then nothings gonna happen to Mr Beast
Unironically a great point lol.
So true
But this is 2024 so we shall see.
Honestly probably a million people in total will see this "drama" and actually 100k in the course of the next month/year will stop watching his videos. Aside from that, he will be big chilling lol
I'd argue the fallout for Mr. Beast would be bigger than Logan Paul's because Jimmy's brand is built off of his charity and kindness, while Logan's was built off of him being a dick to begin with.
Year of Exposure! Katt Williams was 💯 right!

This guy is so quick to defend Mr. Beast he doesn't even listen to the full point before going "Who cares?" at everything.
See the thing is you're so used to the internet all jumping on bandwagons and thinking everything is black and white. "Oh this guy fucked up? Fuck EVERYTHING he did, everything is TERRIBLE." But Asmon is capable of understanding nuance, which is why he says certain things don't seem that bad, while still calling out many other things for being bad. If you think this video is of Asmon defending MrBeast then you're delusional.

1:36:05 this is where I realized that Asmond just says crap that his dumb, teenage audience would think. Because an ADULT would know that spending $1 million on a house and car is way more than just "spending a million dollars". There's future expenses that come with those purchases. Property taxes, bills, insurance - all this stuff eventually adds up to so much that $1 mill spent in 24 hours can't cover over time. If the guy was forced to spend all that money in 24 hours, but doesn’t have any $ left to make those monthly large payments - he's fucked.

This absolutely is harmful to my eight year old child. They use kids youtube, but Mr. Beast videos were shown, and now my kid believes this is possible and that people do these things. Now, I have to destroy their faith in humanity before they even get started. I understand the money to be made, but marketing to kids is wrong.
For an eight year old child they should be watching reruns of Mr. Rodgers and Sesame Street. There is a ton of children's content from public television from the 70's to late 80's that is really good for children's well being. Most of what is marketed for children today is outright ethically and morally awful though legal.
Look into the latest video of that guy. The unsafe conditions of the games, barbaric behaviors of certain contestants. Watch it first before assessing if you should show it or only parts to your child. This should convince you even more to protect your child from the likes of Mr Beast.
oh, so you let them watch it?
@Aenahea santa doesnt ask for money or subs. Completely different.
As a fellow parent, just direct your kid’s attention to something else altogether to avoid Mr. Beast or just be upfront & say you don’t want them watching Mr. Beast videos anymore because for whatever reason. you’re the parent after all. Just my opinion.
