  • From 2005 to 2007, American Dragon: Jake Long had a brief but memorable run on Disney Channel. Fitting snugly in the 2000s revival of fantasy media for tweens, it told the story of a Chinese-American boy working through high school and battles against evil. A classic coming of age setup, but how did a 24 year old get to be the creator? Why did the art style change so suddenly? And is there a good reason it isn’t talked about today as often as other 2000s Disney hits like The Proud Family, Kim Possible or Phineas and Ferb? All I’ll say is get prepared for a bumpy start.
