I had no idea this was a hated amp. I always felt the stiletto was a great sounding amp.
Amazing sound from this amp, and lovely track. Many Thanks for the time you take taking theses videos. Cheers !
I came to watch an amp demo and can’t stop coming back as I love this composition. Great work.👍😁😁
No "let's go"? Good lord, are you alright?
+THUNDERDAD I must've been drunk ;-)
I was thinking the same thing, but then you put in some campfire video while you "burned it up on guitar", so all is right with the world! Ha ha! Plus, you were wearing an American Flag hat, so I had to thank you for that! Cheers from a long way across the pond in the USA :-)
Johan Segeborn we miss it!!
Please don't scare us again...we need let's go!
I am also really missing let's go. Other than that - wonderful as always!
Excellent sound, and awesome mix, congratulations. so let's go to see more videos of your channel.
I never knew this amp was hated so much...i got one in 2016, the exact model used in this demo and i gotta say that I LOVE IT. Great cleans and it takes pedals like a champ. I discover new and exciting tones every dang time i plug in.
Johan, you are the Riff Master. It's always a pleasure to hear you play.
great intro from Drums and Bass...nice to hear this 'backline' in addition to the always great guitar sounds. :)
+MrKnisterable Thanks my friend! Great that you like the backing tracks. :-)
I think Johan could play through an aux cable into a car stereo and sound good :D
+Finlay hahaha, thanks my friend :-) Maybe we can try that ;-)
Finlay Right! He even makes a Mesa boogie Amp sound.....about allright....
...or plugged in with a piece of string into a soggy shoebox.
i have thought just the same :)
no doubt he's good and seems like a good dude but I've noticed a lot of ass kissing on the comments section
I like that you put a video of nature, let's you listen with your ears and not your eyes. I think this should be done more!
Thanks Mike, that’s really good to hear!
To me the amp sounds very modern. It is quite smooth and controlled. Sounds great.
+hachewie Thanks man! It's modern sounding indeed despite all the mids. A good modern version of a super lead stack
I think often people are looking for that perfect tone and don't realize it's not going to fit in the Mix well.. I like your review style and I've now subscribed! Thanks man!
+Timothy Gorman Thanks man, welcome to the channel!
I wonder how you get ideas for videos, your videos have answers to questions I didn't even know I had....always interesting and fascinating 👍🤗
I recently purchased a 1994 Mesa Boogie prototype Maverick and at first I didn't think I liked it but after spending time learning how the controls worked, I LOVE IT! Fantastic playing, you rock!
great tones played with great feeling. keep it up Johan I enjoy your videos
+Tony Billo So good to hear that! Thanks! :-)
Super tasty licks, love your groove brother!
You made my ultimate life budget saver of my life! Thank you so much, rock on & keep the good work! Thanks again!
They darken up nicely with the G12-35XC. Very well made amps. Thanks
Johan Segeborn ...i love your effort man. your passion and detail for guitars and amps is just unbelievable. i respect that.
i appreciate your work man. you are amazing.
Thank you very much for the videos and details it help a lot. keep post more videos.
+haris noor Thanks my friend, Cheers!
So true. Always look forward to your videos. :-)
+Elgn Arney Thanks, great to hear that! :-)
Very nice track Johan! it helped me to start my monday with a smile haha.
liking that you sneaked the epi in there, sounds good.
One of things I noticed with my Peavey vkii is that received alot grief in regards to the lead channel, but I noticed that band players kept pointing out on its own it's sounds wrong, but in a band mix it cuts through and sound great.
Don't know anything about Mesa amps but this one sure sounds great ! Maybe a little bit too trebly for my taste but it's all subjective. Thanks for putting out so many quality videos, yours have been a pleasant surprise every time I log on youtube. Cheers from France
+Shatterthewaves Thanks, that's so good to hear! Cheers from Gothenburg Sweden!
I liked the sound you've got here.... the song reminded me of a slow "the replacments" tune 😀 always fun to watch your viedos 👌💪👍
+Howie_Capowi Thanks! Good to hear that! :-)
I don't know why the Stiletto is an unpopular series. That was a great demonstration and the video was classy as well. Great stuff man. Love to watch your videos.
+Seneca Guns Thanks, I'm glad you liked it! :-)
Love the full band style demo!
+James Montegomery Thanks, that's so good to hear!
Johan Segeborn You're very welcome!
Amazing as always, that riff is simply fantastic
Great sound. Nice full lead tone. Crunchy rhythm. I like how you make something simply played sound so good. Music is not about flashy playing ALL the time.
+Mike Dreucci Thanks man, that's great to hear!
Loved the tune you played on this one Johan dude!
+Dan Allnatt Thanks, glad you liked it! :-)
What an absolute treat. Thank you !
Very nice - and playing all the instruments - props
Nice work. Great to see someone happy with their gear. Mesa makes awesome stuff.
+Canaan Perry Thanks! They do indeed
cool Johan. just came back and found another great video in your channel...... Congrats.. I miss let's go too
My first electric ever was an Epiphone Les Paul Special II very similar to the one you're playing. I took the neck off and sanded the paint off of the back so my hand would slide easier on the bare wood. Best mod I've ever made to any guitar!
Awesome playing and awesome showing great tone doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg! I really enjoy your videos.
Your playing soars to new heights without shoes! Sounds good to me. Agreed, every amp has a sweet spot.
+Kleetus and Sparky Rokspodcast Thanks! :-)
I freaking love it! I myself did a vindication video of the Stiletto Deuce stage II - and I love that thing- now your making me want to get the ACE combo ! Great job sir- great freaking job!
Sounds great Johan! Didn't except that...Good job!
+mrkite89 Thanks!! :-)
johan.that amp sounds very tight and concise..nice sound..your rhythm is very good..love the background beat
+Robbie Russell Thanks Robbie, glad you like it!
Your very Welcome
Great Riff/Song! and nice tone i've have never heard before that messa Boogie model.
+Fer Ramirez Thanks, Really glad you liked it!
Sounds great to me and the song was great too. And I want to say that those nature or city scenes really make your videos unique and more pleasant to watch. You probably hear this all the time, but if I ever visit Sweden I would really like to meet you.
+Magnus Hardt Thanks man, I'm really glad you like the nature scenes. If you ever visit Gothenburg, let me know!
Johan Segeborn That's for sure!
I love my Mesa Engineering Stiletto Deuce II head. I have to add that [it] is an extremely bright amplifier, but in a band situation in a mix, the Stiletto cuts through very well. I loaded my Stiletto's pre-amp with NOS tubes, and installed two NOS GE rectifier tubes. I had Avatar Speakers build me a vintage style 4X12 eight Ohm cabinet loaded with two Celestion G12H 30 'Hellatone' and two Celestion Alnico Gold speakers in an X-pattern. That cabinet with the Stiletto is a very lethal pairing for any guitar tones. Especially when I lean towards more of a 'heavy' sonic guitar signature. Stiletto also pairs up well with other rigs to expand upon even more dynamic and sonic depth.
You are so right about these amps. Was watching Andy Timmons and his Stiletto just sings! A real nice combination of Fender and Marshall all in one. What great versatility. Thank for such a great track. BTW, the bass track tone was killer!!
+Mark Johnson Thanks Mark, great to hear that!
What a great jam!
Can't complain about the amp either. It sounds very good. Thanks!
+NPGANDERSSON Thanks, glad to hear it!
I had a stiletto for a short time. And I really liked it. Very British sounding amp. Nice job as always. I agree you sound good through any amp you play.
+Shawn Taylor Thanks my friend! That's nice of you
Great sounding amp, and the chords and leads chosen to demonstrate the tonal characteristics were a great choice.
+Jeff Curran Thanks man!
I'd like to buy one of these, but I think you just jacked up the asking price. Stop being so revealing ;-)
I have the head version of this amp and it sounds and records awesome when turned up. At low volumes I throw a graphic EQ in the loop with a smile curve and it comes alive, as things do sound a little lifeless otherwise. Cool song Johan!
i love this track and this amp too and you you are very great sounds very good to me !
This music made me feel younger. Thx for the video
+rflessati Glad to be at service
I gigged a Stiletto Ace for years. I received compliments on my tone nearly every gig. Put a delay in the loop and it’s all you need for 95% of gigs. Great video.
Hey do you still have the stiletto? I just picked up a 1 x 12 ACE. I am so confused with the " hard bypass" Can you engage the effects loop even without something plugged in to use the output under solo as an additional control ?? thanks !
@@Tomalo-Dub Sadly no longer own a Stiletto, or any other tube amp for that matter. I’m using an Axe FX 3 these days. The hard bypass just removes the fx loop from the circuit. You can leave the loop not bypassed and still use the solo feature even if nothing is plugged in to the send/return jacks. Enjoy! I still think it’s an awesome amp!
@@wannabweiland huge thank you ! I appreciate the response 🤘. I def have to check out the FX 3! I can’t believe how cheap the stilettos are going , I guess people want smaller these days !
Yet again an amazing track and video. I'm convinced you could make a blender sound good. Damn fine job!
Johan always has THE BEST demo's on youtube !!!!
That's a very catchy tune you wrote there, Johan!
tones are super Johan. The music is really great, I love it!!
+The Fabulous Master Bats Great to hear that! Thanks!
Just bought the Stiletto Ace head last night, can't wait!
I just got one of these. My God, what an amp!
A little behind the times here but awesome, simple musical video highlighting the Ace’s strengths 👍 I had a Stiletto Ace head years ago and am looking to pick one up again. I remember it being a better Marshall sound than Marshall haha
your demos songs in these vids alvvays sound amazing!!
+Darrien Day Thanks! Really good to hear that!
I had the stiletto deuce version 1. It could sound good, but definitely needs darker speakers like a greenback type. Version 1 can be brittle sounding. The Ace is by far my favorite Stiletto. Another great video!
+brandon caleb Thanks man!
That amp sounds pretty killer, great playing as usual.
+Davy Coningx Thanks man! :-)
I had this exact one in fawn for a few years, it was the last in my ten year run of Boogie amps for gigging. Although it was a brilliant amp I could never dial in the dirty sound brown enough.Too pointy. A creamback helped. This model took pedals really well and the clean sound was amazing! Run it through one of those old bottoms! Let's Go!
+Nouveautwang Yeah that would be interesting! Cheers
Sounds just great to me! Or maybe it was just such a great song. Love it man.
+StealthParrot Thanks my friend! Great to hear that!
What a great track!
+DerEchteBold Thanks! :-) Great to hear that!
DerEchteBold yes that's absolutely right! All the instruments sounded so great together!!:)
Seriously, dude... You're always playing awesome tracks! Where's the album?
Big big smile on my face brother. Awesome.
+Voxboy876 Thanks my friend! :-)
Wow, what a great song! Thanks!
Awesome sound thanks Johan keep rocking man🎸‼️‼️☠️🇨🇮
+vkelly1975 Cheers man! \m/
I own a Stiletto. It’s hands down my favorite amp.
The Mesa sounds good because you understand how to get the tones balanced. It doesn't matter what sort of amp one uses, if a player knows how the tone knobs interact, then achieving a usable sound shouldn't be an impossibility.
My favorite amps are tube models for guitar and solid state for bass. However, the most important thing is how well you know the song and how relaxed you are when you play.
That Mesa would sound great behind anyone who knows his guitar intimately. If the folks from Mesa decided to send me one for free, I wouldn't send it back!
Great video with great tone, as always!
I can see why people wouldn't be a fan of the tone. But you play so well it hardly matters :)
Thanks man, it’s great to hear that!
OK Johan, you really need to put together a riff CD or playlist on youtube as someone else suggested...loved this one!! Simple and effective! So, I had never played a Mesa amp...where I live we have a very famous guitar store called the House of Guitars (HOG), I go often...one day with an R9 in hand I decided to go their high gain room and check out tones.....there I saw a wall of Dual recitfiers and other forms of life I had never played, in the back corner, all dusty and hidden were a stiletto and a lonestar special. Well, I dont know where the bad sound reputation comes from but within 5 minutes I was hearing the most beautiful tones.....amazing stuff.....I am negotiating the price of the LOnestar......thanks for bringing this one to life....if you can get a LOnestar special that would be a nice demo too....cheers!!
+rcolang1 Thanks! I'm so glad that you like the riffs. I'm gonna make full mixes with vocals of many of these jams in coming clips. And I really hope to do a lonestar too soon. Cheers Johan
Hey Johan I just noticed you are barefoot, I hope we don't see you glow in the dark one day!!
YES!!!!! Johan Thank you for proving what ive been saying for a couple years now. I play the 2x12 version and i just think its one of the most versatile British voiced amps ever. I have mine loaded with creamback m65s. Completely sealed back combo. The amp is completely separated from the speaker cab! I just love the design. Great job!
+Robert Jackson Thanks man! Did yours have V30 or C90 initially? Cheers
It had the mesa v30s. Which are fantastic speakers. To my ears a much better speaker than the regular production v30. Much smoother top end. However ive grown to be such a fan of the creamback 65 so i swapped them out.
Johan, you always sound good, regardless of the amp ;)
+Vano Thanks my friend :-)
Johan, where do you get your les pauls from
like the sunburst one you use
+George Richards I bought the R9 and Epi at 4Sound in Gothenburg and the R7 black beauty at the Fuzz Guitar Show.
If you don't mind me asking how much did you pay for the R9
Wow.Very nice sound
Thanks! :-)
Well done Johan, love it. Thanks man.
HI JOHAN ITS GREAT TO SEE SOME GUYS CAN STILL DO WITH 3 NOTES WHAT ALOT YOUNG GUITAR PLAYERS CANT DO WITH FIFTY NOTES A SECOND
Also, has no one commented on how good of a photographer and cinematographer you are :)
+bob joe you make my day man! Thanks :-)
I totally agreed with you Johan. It is one of the best amp from Mesa Boogie..! It's just needed to be tweak correctly. Had owned both head version and combo..! Great demo..
Making me wish I didn't sell mine. Awesome video! I wouldn't be surprised if you made a line 6 spider sound decent.
+Eric Meier hahaha! Thanks man! :-)
This song reminds me of CCR.
Btw, I always like the way you play guitar. It looks like you enjoy every note and every strum.
+Rendy Andrian Thanks Rendy, I love CCR! And I do!! Cheers :-)
I have a Mesa Stiletto Ace and I love it. It gets a full range of tones and can scream with the best of them. I use the two crunch settings, one in each channel, the most but the cleans are particularly nice and harmonically rich. I love all of your videos, Johan. Thank you.
+Rudy Mikula Thanks Rudy that's so good to hear! Cheers
Love these amps and this track is killer
I love how you could have used any of your fantastic guitars but you used the epi! I think it helps to prove your point. Good playing and good vid
Nice, sounds like a Replacements riff. Cool vid!
I like the idea of doing videos on unloved or unappreciated gear. I'd love to see you do some videos on Peavey or Carvin amps at some point.
I've always wanted one of these.
I gigged the 2x12 combo for a couple of years. Just bought it for options during a recording project and it gradually wormed its way to being my number one. They can be made to be horribly bright, but much like some Marshalls, you just need to start with the treble, mid and presence at 0 and turn them up until things sound right. Typically that'd be around 9pm on Treble and mids, presence at maybe 10pm, bass at noon. The louder the master was, the better it sounded. Oh, have to admit I changed the speakers from V30s to G12-65s (those were designed for bright and lively Marshally overdrive), perfect match.
Very nice tone!!
+rafamcm Thanks!
Very Cool , loved it.!
+Arvind L Dayal Thanks! :-)
I am an amp snob and never thought I would own a Boogie, but I played through a Lonestar and loved it and now I own one.
+newbelowdc Great amps
Grinning from ear to ear!!!☺️
+Aditya A Cheers man :-)
You make everything sound good.. even a Stiletto ;)
+TheSterlingSound Thanks my friend!
If it's good enough for Bill Kelliher of Mastodon its good enough for anyone!
I get a ragged glory feel from this composition, cool :)
Johan!! Looking to go to a combo downsizing from a jcm 800 2204 and a 4x12. Liking the versatility of this Ace, and wondering how "close" to a marshall tone it will get. I have a chance to get one for a GREAT price and more versatile it seems than current marshall combos. Thoughts? Keep on ripping it my dude!
I’d love to hear this through a vintage Marshall 4x12 and to hear how close you could get it to sound like a plexi. Thanks Johan!
hi Johan, bought a guys head and cab that were done in African zebra wood and mahogany and he used the stelleto ace and two Evh celestian for the cab. the guy is a cabinet maker by trade and the work is as well done as Mesa hardwood cabs. got them home and I can't get a good tone and I'm quite discouraged. tried my 96 Srv strat and my 93 prs custom 24 straight in and nothing inspiring emerged. this is my first tube amp and maybe it needs tube or a better player? suggestions?
som vanligt excellent video, kul med andra förstärkare än de "vanliga"
Good! Keep it up!
I like the Mesa stuff(most of it)...Seems the rhythm tones are more compressed, more gain, and maybe not as tight as some of the Marshall tones alot of us love..I used to own a Tremoverb but sold it because it was too buzzy in the preamp and I didn't care for it's clean tones. These days I'm still very much a Fender,Marshall,Vox guy...Great video as always pal.
You got mad skillz
+Coach cleats Thanks!! :-)
It sounds good to my ears. I have MK-V/35 which you should check out. I absolutely love it. It is by far the most versatile amp I have ever owned. You mentioned tweaking, well this one you can twerk all night long and it will sound good no matter what you do.
+Robert Hurless Thanks, yeah MkV sounds great regardless of settings
The Stiletto is a great amp I think.. :D
