It’s really nice that you and your dad spend so much quality time together with the jeeps
Kevin Williams I had to man, I couldn’t help myself lol
Can’t wait for the diesel. I will move to JL when it comes out. Hoping to get like 20 mpg plus on 38s.
That’s great mpg! I drive a 2 door 2008 rubicon with the old 3.8 and auto trans. With 33” duratrac tires I average 15mpg at 65mph. Your mpg is fantastic!
I would bump that pressure up from 30 to 35psi and you might get a couple miles more. Good video👍
Rule #1, you don’t buy a Jeep strictly for the fuel economy.
guinnessmon1970 ^this
The only value I use this for is to make a budget on a cross country trip or something like that, but everyday preocupation? Meh!
unless it has a Diesel engine!
That is one of my selling points when i talk to my wife. My Yukon sucks fuel bad
It's not about miles per gallon it's about smiles per gallon!
That’s pretty good, I only get 17mpg on my ‘13 JKL with 32’s
You guys are great. My stock JLUR gets about 15 mpg, but that’s mostly city driving. You make great videos and I can’t wait to see the new one’s you put up
A Jeep was a great invention, it helped to win a war. But yoga pants have to be the best invention ever.
We need to give the inventor of yoga pants a holiday or something.
Y’all need the tazer jl to recalibrate the Speedo. It also allows you to disconnect the sway bar in 2wd up to 30mph which makes easy trails where you don’t need 4wd a lot smoother
Holy crap! That’s much better than I expected.
so my dually towing your jeep can get that. but can’t worry about fuel econ. it’s all about smiles per gallon. just found you guys. subbed 🤗
That's bout what I'm getting unloaded on my 2014 JKU on 33s with a 2 inch lift, local driving.
Check your jeep's Track Bar Weld make sure it didn't separate from the Frame.... Recall just came out for some 18/19 Jeep Wranglers ... video online shows how track bar bracket separated from frame. 👍
It been so much fun watching you guys take everyone to all the cool off road parks plus the drifting etc.
I just got my JLUR last week, and from watching you two I know its going to be plenty tough lol.
But just wanted to say Y'all are awesome!! Great job and your channel has been so much fun to watch.
Thank you for the support!! 😊
With our Dana 60 axels 40 tires 513 gears we get 12 miles to the gallon on a good day and hemi engine.
Hey you two...I had a fuel economy question, how many miles of trail can Britt spot for Kevin on just one lunchable?😃
David guitar madman Pshhhh! A lunchable lasts like 2 minutes. Haha
@@LiteBrite WHAT'S HER NAME🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Акоп Торосян My real name is Brittany.
My 4.7L Jeep Commander, with no lift, and stock tire size, only gets 16-17 MPG on the highway. In the city, I average 11-13 MPG. Your Jeep is doing well for being a lifted, big-tire, un-aerodynamic box.
It’s good to know that when I up-size my tires my mpg is not gonna go totally to pot..... Hopefully when you calibrate your speedo for the tire size, the shift points will change and help mpg a bit.
I’ve gone threw couple sets of 5:13 on the hwy. they just get super hot. I learned just need to keep eye on gear oil. Keep it changed.
I got 16mpgs on my fully armored 2nd Gen Xterra from South MS to Moab. Talk about a LLLLLOOOOONNNNNGGGGG trip lol. Totally worth it though!
I had a 2003 Dodge pickup, 4x4, quad cab and 20” rims and I got 14 mpg with a 5.7 hemi! Just seems like it ought to do better now with 15 years of technology and such.
The best fuel economy with a Wrangler is when it’s parked and off! 🤪🤗👍🏻🇺🇸 I only hope for good gas prices, but not my mileage. Y’all are awesome 👏
I get 14 to 18 mpg 2012 2 door JK with 35's, 410 gears, 4 inch lift, heavy steel bumpers front and rear.
Not too bad loaded.. I get 18 19 jku 37s and 4.88s. But it does have a Pro-Cal that made a big difference overall.
Hey did I see hear you guys say you were in Utah? We are headed to Moab this weekend, going to do fins and things on Saturday and 7 Mile Rim on Sunday. If you are in Moab area this weekend we’d love to have you join us!
If you are further north, you are welcome to stay at our place in Cedar Hills. Just let us know!
Kevin, I’m a little confused, weren’t you in hurricane LAST weekend? Have you been there all this week too? I thought this video said that you were Texas and heading North...
Anyway, the point is if you guys are sticking around here in Utah you can crash at our place up in northern Utah or we’d love to have you join us in Moab this weekend if you are going to be around!
I just got 20.8 mpg on a round trip from Dfw to the coast and back, on stock a/t’s with my jlu.
Might need to change the gears soon.
That’s not bad at all. My F150 is about the same mileage with a small 8 4x4
Nice! Keep making Awesome Off roading videos, Brittany!
Ram hybrid Etorque although not traditional will be available in the future. Electric motors with their instant massive torque are perfect for off roading.
I run 40s with 5.13. I get 18-19 any place. I Hurd you. Put gears in it. You will get your mileage back. Ps I’m running the 4.0.
Does your JL on 40s get 8th gear much? What’s rpm at say 70? How much should a gear change cost?
I think once you calibrate it you may get a little better mileage. The ECM right now is thinking it has smaller tires so all of the fuel, shifting etc is based on smaller tires. Once it knows you have larger tires I bet it might get a little better. Maybe 1 or 2 mpg. My JLRU is on a 3" lift with 35's and I get 18 on mixed driving but I have gotten almost 21 on just highway. Mine is a manual though but still with 4:10 gears.
That not bad on 38 it that new 8 speed. I have a 14 JKUR on 35 and we do just a little over 15. Oh and when we load the Jeep up for a trip there no light coming through the back window lol.
quick question - so you are running 38" tires..but what are your wheels..? 17,18,20's..? thanks
Lol the ruby does pretty fantastic on mpg considering i got a lifted 1976 square body chevy 350 4 speed manual 3/4 ton with 410 gears that gets 11.2. So that thing does amazing.. Makes me want a jeep even more lol... You guys be safe out there and keep the updates comin..👍👍😁😁👍👍by the way kev i can see brits wind blowing too... A lot of hot air there lmao.. Just kidding brit dont be mad.. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Pretty good IMO. My FJ Cruiser manual, with 285/70/17 all-terrain tires gets about 14 so you are doing pretty good.. I'm impressed. :-)
It's all about the smiles per gallon!!
I have gotten up to 18 mpg. That was freeway travel while having been using premium gasoline for months. That makes a difference. I’ve got a 2003 TJ.
That depends. Running premium gas does not automatically mean better performance or ecconomy. Compression is what determines that as does the amount of ethanol.
I’m now curious to what I am actually getting. Ok the 2.5 spacer lift traveling with a decent load on the highway, the vehicle calculates (JL Tazer for 37” MT/Rs) above 18mog and climbing (didn’t reset it). Commuting to and from work and around town is about 17.4mpg. I’ll try to do the same on my way back to NC this weekend.
I heard there is a recall for 2018 Wrangler (not sure JL or JK) about The intermediate steering shaft may not have been properly welded. Does yours has that problem?
I bought 2014 Wrangler Sahara 2 door, fully stock, with 18k on the odometer. Was getting around 18mpg overall. Now, since I installed metal fenders, metal bumpers, metal fender liners, and a winch, I get 19 to 19.5 on average. Weird. All I can figure is the installation of cold air filter helped.
You don’t notice a lag with 38” tires and stock gears?
Ps I haven’t Hurd much yet about JL T case problems but I’d never drive it over 25 mph in 4 low.
Did you guys hear about the recall weld issues on the track bar ? Is your jeep affected?
Gears are 400-600 plus labor. My guy puts them in if I bring him axles $600 for both. So 1200 give or take. He’s one of the best on west coast. Northern Nevada.
@@boughtnotbuiltoffroad7784 I have a gear guy in California who only does Wrangler's and it's.......$900 installed. He's done a few for me but the wait list is pretty long. Usually he gets me in 2-3 weeks.
I get between 18.2 to 19.4 mpg on 4inch lift with 35s. 4.10 gears
That is pretty good for 38 inch tires I have a 08 JK Rubicon that's 14 miles to the gallon on 35
That's 38" tires with the stock 4:10 gears too right? That's not bad at all. My 97 Tahoe has 37" tires & 4:56 gears and I average around 12-14 mpg on mixed driving.
If you are really concerned with gas mileage, you dont drive a box.. lol nice video..I get an average 17mpg on my 4dr JK running 35", stock gears and a 3" lift. As soon as you turn on that A/C though it drops significantly.. and that with about an xtra 500Lbs in gear and 2 of us..
When you have 38 tyres,V6 engine and driving a 4X4 is not the best weight and aerodynamic for fuel consume efficiency, but at the end is not bad at all.
Do larger tires cause extra wear to the drive train?
What will you plan to do in the future regarding carrying jerry cans? Maybe a new bumper setup?
Thanks for the video. I've wondered about fuel economy on these rigs. Drive safe.
@@boughtnotbuiltoffroad7784 the guys at Gears and Gasoline on RUclips drove from FL to Alaska, and had issues because they required premium fuel. Alaska sounds like an amazing journey that we all will look forward to one day.
I'm only getting around 12 mpg with 09 jku and 35s...it makes it hard to go long distances, so when I go anywhere its Moab. Like to meet you guys eventually.
Hey how about a review or comment on the ride with the new lift? Highway ride that is . I can tell you like the flex. Are you doing tires soon?
Kevin Williams Thanks Kev
Should weigh the old wheels and tires versus the new ones. And why haven't you re-geared yet?
That ain't so bad for basically driving a box with wheels! Lol, that's the way I look at it driving my JKU with 35s. I bought it in March of 2018 with 9k miles on it, it's Dec 2018 and I have almost 31k on it,.. didn't get it for gas mileage, plus I pull a boat with mine!
That's not bad at all. I'm getting about the same in my stock ford explorer
That's pretty good. My 2016 rubi on 33s and 4.10 gearing gets about 17 on the highway, 18 if it just me and not loaded.
13.7 daily to work, all street.
Love your videos, watching from Australia.
I have a JKU that I love and use a lot on the freeway. Wind noise can be an issue, how are you finding the wind noise in the JL??
That’s a good choice. With a auto. 488 ring gear be stronger. If you drive on hwy. they sure get hot.
Didn't get a chance to read all the comments and questions did anyone ask how fast you were going, the speed you were traveling is the largest factor to determine what kind of gas mileage you will get.
Not bad. I used to get 13 mpg on 2012 JKUR on 35" with 4.56 gear
About speed are you driving on average for this trip?
Kevin Williams- wow I’m surprised it’s so good! Thanks for replying so fast, y’all are awesome. Keep it up!
Hey guys you shouldn’t drive that Jeep with an empty tank you’re going to fry your fuel pump, I like your videos.
That's freeway MPG too. I bet in town is baaaaaad. My 6 speed JK on 33's got 12-14 mostly in town driving. Like you guys I didn't care. :D
Opened RUclips and this was in the recommend list again. Kinda a mute point now but OMG, you guys drove right by my house with in a half-mile. Wish I had known, I have an AEV Pro Calc. you could have stopped by drank your energy drink while I fixed your speedo tire size issue. Your wife is still adorable....
That is better MPG than I would have expected. Hopefully the diesel version next year will get somewhere around 30 MPG.
I’m getting 27 mpg, I have the 2.4 L turbo Sahara.
you said you run your tires at 30 psi. When it drops below, the warning lights come on and don't turn off until 36 or so. Royal pain but after I air down for wheeling, I have to air mine up to 36 only to drop the psi lower if I want to avoid the warning. Do you guys just deal with the low tire pressure warning?
The taser jl controller allows you to adjust the tpms settings.
What speed we're you guys averaging? I must have missed that. That's a big factor in fuel economy. I know your speedo is off bit that number would be fine.
Damn that’s really good mileage for those tires at that speed.
Hmmm wonder how many rocks crawled per gallon in Colorado vs. Utah
The 3.6 liter V6 is a sweet little engine for most all around types of driving and vehicles. I have the 3.6 in my 2018 Dodge pickup and in my 2015 Dodge pickup I had the V8. Although I don't use my pickup for towing anything but my 22 foot car hauler plus my 1962 Willys Wagon on occasion I don't miss or need the V8. As for who has the larger balls comment LOL last video - I think sometimes smaller Balls can keep some of us men out of trouble. Ok let me clarify this LOL - I would rather have smaller balls and useful brain for making important decisions any day LMAO just ask my Wife. I stay out of trouble longer LOL. You both make for a cute couple, Thanks
What rock rails are you guys running now ? Best
Kevin Williams can you take photo with a closer view and maybe post on insta?
An unequal comparison to evaluate mileage. Perfect!!!!!!!! Don't become scientists or enginerds. I dig the journey in general, and I wish my wife was a little bit more, and a little bit less like Brittany. Spotting would be a useful skill for sure. Are Tacomas welcome at the Jeep Jamboree? I know that when I was wheeling in CA, "Jeepers" had a very inclusive reputation in our crowd. I'm back home after serving in the military and far from many trails and am looking for a wheeling outlet. I'd appreciate a little inside knowledge.
Love the way your wind blows. 😀
Ahh yes gotta love Wichita Falls TX. At leased the roads at flat and straight so you got a better idea of MPG’s In that area.
14.5 on uphill fighting head wind is pretty darn good in my book so as 17.5 on flat road with all that weight. I can't remember if you regeared your Jeep. Would you ever consider installing a supercharger or regearing for better performance and fuel economy?
Ahmad ASG Still stock gears right now! And we have actually discussed regearing, so that might be something that happens in the near future
Cool. Look forward to that when the time comes. How about supercharging the Jeep? Do you see it in the future to increase power/torque ?
Almost 15 mpg on 38s with a gasoline v6 is actually pretty good! I'm sure the 2.0 turbo would be a tad better with the low end torque and mild hybrid.
I’m getting 19 mph with the same set up on 33’s.
Not to bad.
Keep it Light and Bright, right?
I'm surprised the transmission will shift normally without recalibrating the speedo! The JK would run really bad without that adjustment. I would always do it before leaving the tire store. Maybe Jeep changed the computer settings allowing more flexibility knowing most everyone changes tire size. The JK's liked to hang up in 2nd & 3rd gears when out off spec.
Are you running 38's with 3.73's???
4.10.. Thats awesome. My 16 Jk Rubicon Hard Rock came with 3.73's.
Did you upgrade the brakes?
What do you guys do for a living to be able to take a 1 month off-roading trip??
My Hummer H3 gets the same gas mileage. Thanks for sharing. Happy trails.
Typical mileage; no surprises there. I get about 16.5 overall on my 5th Gen T4R with roof rack and Nitto Terra Grappler G2's. Looking forward to more videos....
thats way better than my 2004 4.0L jeep tj with 35" tires 3:73 gears i get 8-10 mpg lol
when you guys re geared what did it do to your fuel milage?
pretty similar fuel economy to what I am getting in my JLUL and it's bone stock. On that note I will be upgrading someday to larger tires and a 2.5 inch lift. What is the best lift package in your opinion if I go with 35's or would you suggest 37's w/ this much lift. I don't want to go more than 2.5 lift. Time: Street 90% 10% off road. I want off road performance without getting crappy on road performance. Mine is the 8 speed auto as well. V-6 I like the look of a lift with larger tires. Rims 17? or 18"? No larger. Rim diameter?? Anyway I guess this turned out to be a Wrangler Forum question but what do you like!?!
Thanks and I do have a Rubicon! I will definitely call them. Keep the vids coming. Looking forward to some Moab stunts from you both. LOL
How is that possible? I get 16mpg on my stock Rubicon
@@boughtnotbuiltoffroad7784 gauge isn't it accurate? I will do my own math.
Now that you got new gears, you should do a part 2 to this one. I'm curious to see the difference
OMG everyone asks me that in my H1 on 46's, I always reply that is like asking an exotic dancer what her SAT scores were... who cares!
Lifted Trucks USA 😂😂😂
Lifted Trucks USA Dude me too. I have a 97 H1 and that’s the first thing everyone asks. I tell them I don’t have kids so I can buy plenty of fuel.
Sometimes I say something absolutely ridiculous and say 50spg, if they catch spg.. I tell them it stands for smiles per gallon. :)
Anytime brother, would make a cool video.
I knew a stripper who actually got into Yale. No joke.
Great to know. Subscribed.
what's the gear ratio? stocked 4.10?
I’m shocked it was that good. My Yukon averages 15.5 hwy/cty. You should do a tank with mixed driving, not all highway. See what the numbers are.
I have an 08 lifted jk and 35 I want to get bigger tires and have stock gears. Do you all have stock gears on urs.
Thanks for the video
It's not the miles per gallon but the smiles per gallon!! 😁
Have you guys regeared at all? If not do you ever feel like you need to?
16 is not bad at all since I only get 14 with my 06 Rubicon LJ on 35's
are you regeared?
MPG is just a number.
Fun Factor is always the top priority
Loaded, wind, and all those Red Bull’s not bad.
