My idea for the dead god's myth, before you brought out the book, was that a demigod lifted the sky from the earth to give mankind room to stand and grow. The blue grass is where the sky last touched the ground, clinging to and staining that region with color (or so the myths go). His children would go on to be the city-rulers for that society, and the citizens regularly make a pilgrimage to an obelisk that was constructed as he held up the sky. This obelisk stands where he collapsed due to the strain, serving as his grave marker and continuing to hold aloft the sky to this day.
Just subscribed after watching a few videos. You have similar taste to mine and I'm discovering a lot I didny know about through your channel. I have to say though so many games you mention are oop I assume or maybe Kickstarter with limited or no retail sale because I can't find them anywhere but ebay. Stop getting me excited for things I can't have lol.
I like how the legends generator is up to interpretation. I do hope it does come as a separate PDF that I can buy. And mixing it up with what's in the Realm Fables books, that's a lot of fun inspiration for generating a sandbox.
Just checked and unfortunately it only comes with the complete box set and not as a separate item. I did however find it elsewhere to at least be able to look at it. Though it is tied to the Lore of The Forbidden Lands, I can still see it as a useful jumping off point for inspiration.
I am very interested in seeing further development of your fantasy sand-box game. Thank-you for sharing with us. I am developing my sandbox game using Forbidden Lands to build my character, background. From there I was thinking of using Dungeon Saga Adventurer's Companion to build the dungeons. For overland travel I have settled on a way to develop this. Maybe use Forbidden Lands again. I am excited to follow you with this game!
Cielos... amo tu opening/intro. ¿Como se llaman esos sonidos ochentosos? Suena como a magia o alma. Ecos de un tiempo perdido. ¿Hay una librería o alguna forma de buscar o generar ese tipo de sonidos retro?
34:00 An idea: What if it's a mythic situation, and the Raven Sister was a goddess? So she, driven by an oath she couldn't break, sought someone who needed her help, and she died of starvation. Her death changed the place she died, causing the conditions that produced that weird blue grass. Maybe her friend was at what is now the Dead God's Land, and did her honors there, dedicating the place to her, and buried her at the Dead God's Tomb, but kept some great treasure she'd been carrying? It's not perfect, but it's an idea that I think does well to link several points in that area together. I hope it at least helps get your gears turning! Keep this series going, I really like it, and it's motivating me to sit down and do some Solo RPG myself!
Tomb of a god, too often people think dead god, but there are worse things than death, a tomb of a god could mean a tomb a god is trapped in, then it makes 2 scarrier questions, What is powerful enough to capture a god? and what material is strong enough to hold a god for so long?
I really enjoyed watching you play. 7:26 How did you come up with "Tomb"? A sudden spark of imagination? I really thought the Idea was genius in combining "Region of a god" with "tomb" and asking yourself, how a god could possibly die. Now that alone could fill an entire campaign! Wow!
You're right - that could easily be an entire campaign. I just thought of some kind of holy place, and liked the idea of exploring a tomb. I'm just always thinking of settings that would be fun to play in, and I love tombs and crypts and those kinds of things. LOL.
Fun! Looking forward to seeing more of this! 👍😁 Useless trivia: The art in Forbidden Lands was originally used in the Swedish RPG Drakar och Demoner (Dragons and Demons) from 1982. It’s what I played for years and years in my youth, so it’s super nostalgic to me.
@@TheDungeonDive In general this has been the complaint with most SF games. Promising great games but instead delivering games that don't seem to have been played tested well.
Dude these intros have me sent to the past of my childhood 90’s tapes with the “stretch sound” sounds 🙌🏽🤣
Yeah! That's the exact thing I was going for. :) Old VHS logos.

Oh yeah, I'm gonna go look for those books. Slowly growing my library of tools thanks to you and other channels like yours.
I really enjoyed this video. I don't have the same tools, but I will give it a try with the tools I do have. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful! Have fun on your own explorations!

Hice la introducción usando un sintetizador para que sonara como viejos logos y jingles de cintas VHS en los años 80.

I literally did something similar two days ago using a variety of solo tools. Time to get the adventure part rolling. Lol
Left hand all inkied up from laying knuckles on wet ink...
I really enjoyed watching you play.

This is exactly what I've been looking to do, just been lacking the motivation / inspiration. This may help!
Motivation is the hardest thing with solo RPing.

Free league has a Kickstarter to revive this game. It was funded in 4 minutes but I think you can still get in on it
@@MichaelDBruce Thanks! I backed it while the campaign was running 👍
Love it! Great initiative, and I hope to see more of this. :)
What deck of cards is that? It's super cool!
Bestiary Cards from Drivethrucards.
@@TheDungeonDive Thank you!
Does this map show up in any of your other videos?
Nope. Once again I failed to take my own advice and start small.
They call that a hex flower, dongma? 8-P
What's your quick thoughts about Bardsung?
The board is too big to find on my table so I can’t play it.
@@TheDungeonDive Will you be selling in in the near future or are you still going to make content with it?
Whats ridiculous with how big the game board is the instances where minis swarm and will not fit in a tile area.
Not sure yet.
@@TheDungeonDive In general this has been the complaint with most SF games. Promising great games but instead delivering games that don't seem to have been played tested well.
Let's go, this is what I've been waiting on lol.
Is that mat one of those erasable mats, or is it a large sheet of hex paper? I would love to find some hex paper that size.
Erasable mat.
How about 10 km/ hex? 8-P
Where did you get your hex map?
Amazon.
Pretty sure the blue grass should have been blue glass 😀
Kentucky bluegrass is green.
@@TheDungeonDive I thought the mountain table said blue glass. Maybe my eyes are getting old 😂
Oh it probably did. I was just making a joke about a grass not being the color of its name. ;)
@@TheDungeonDive regardless of grass or glass 😂 it’s a great video as per usual. Proud to support you on patreon
whats that hex map paper?
Just a hex map. Nothing special. Got it from Amazon.
@@TheDungeonDive but yr using regular sharpies? the map is washable?
Permanent sharpie. Won't be erasing it.
