Nerdy. That describes mine 100%! Thank you, again, so much for these videos! I'm sending this to all my friends so they can see what we see in our babies. 🤗
they say tarantula's can't feel emotions, but I kinda disagree with that, if you can feel "stress" "comfortable" and even "scared" then yes, you can feel emotions, we need more studies on this
They say this all the time when animal brains look any different than the human or average mammalian. Humans are very egotistical animals and we can't comprehend that we aren't seperate from the animal kingdom. I can tell you I'd rather hang out with my spiny flower mantis than most people any day
I totally agree with you I've had pet tarantulas for 30years. They absolutely have emotions and they let you know it. Ive never been bitten but Ive had wild caught females that didn't want to be bothered in any way. Six months later after gentle caressing the abdomen she finally stopped darting away from me. Two months later she was crawling into my out stretched hand on her own. She was fully grown when I got her and I assume she was about 10years old. I had her for 18 years and every day when I came home from work I would pick her up and she would sit on my chest over my heart for at least an hour while I took a nap. I attempted to mate her and it was an amazing thing to watch. The male started drumming his feet and she came out of her house and responded. Unfortunately she changed her mind when he tried to have sex and attacked him. I got him out asap but he was mortality ingured. She never ate again. 3 years later she passed. Her name was Buffy and she absolutely had emotions
I learned pretty early to re-use the substrate to minimize stress. Let say you have to rehouse your tarantula to something bigger, use the same substrate or mix up new substrate with the old. Often they dont care if rehoused with compleatly new substrate, but during my 20 years in the hobby i have noticed that sometimes they get stressed. New substrate have diffrent smells than the substrate that the tarantula was kept on. By reusing the substrate they seem to get less stressed. It us something familiair, especially if they had been kept for some years on the same substrate. Plus it is cheaper than if you have to spend money on new substrate. Substrate never gets bad with age, on the contrary, it is getting better. I have some adult tarantulas that i kept on the same substrate since they where juveniles, if course mixed with new substrate cos they was rehoused to bigger enclosure. So that is one of my tip to minimuze stress. Always re-use the substrate Another tip is to never rehouse an adult female if she is astablished in her adult enclosure. There is no need to. Even if mushrooms is growing, they are less stressful than digging up the burrow and rehouse ut to a compleatly new "enviroment" Old substrate makes it feels more familiair, but best is to just let her live in the same enclosure until she pass of old age. I have not many tarantulas theese days but i have a E murinus that has been in the same enclosure for 4 years and i have had both funghus and some mold during those years. I have some springtails and isopods in with her, so thats another tip i guess? Keep up the good work. Love your channel!
I love the tip about re-using substrate. I hadn't thought about the familiar smell making it easier for them to adjust to a new home - that is genius. Thank you for sharing your knowledge :)
This was very helpful !!!! I was so worried because mine was pacing all over her tank and my baby is usually lazy. Ima definitely check her tank. I feel so bad that she’s stressed ):
I'm so glad it helped! Stress may not be the only reason, mine sometimes paces bc she is more active after a molt or hungry lol. But sometimes identifying a stressor can help!
Lovely video. Really informative, and yes, very important to know your own t and how active/inactive they usually are. Brilliant. Really enjoy these videos. Especially with the psychological side / how the spider feels!
Thanks a lot!! I was concerned for hours . cause after moving her to a new enclosure, she hid herself(curled) in a corner above the floor substrate. Haha and I now see it's because stress and the substrate was wet!
Just wanted to know, my rose hair tarantula is walking around loads, she has not eating loads, but looks like she is looking for food, I put a hopper in her in closures, but she just walked over it.
I just got one and i was worried that i was stressing her btw do you know what it means when the lil things at the end of her rum is moving even if shes not letting web out
Outdoor Owen those little things are just her spinerette sand it’s no problem if no webs are coming out, sometimes they just move them randomly or the web is too thin to notice
My B hamoroii is normally always on her substrate and isn’t active at all but,for the last hour or so she has been walking around the glass of her whole enclosure(as well as on the floor/substrate) she has eaten 2 days ago and nothing was left,I’ve looked thoroughly for any unwanted food in her enclosure and found nothing,xx🕷💕
I check on my tarantulas every morning. Christmas weekend my Chaco golden knee went into the cork bark log, normally she's out and on the log or hiding in her burrow. She got in the log but she's got about a 7" leg span and I was worried that the log might be too small, so I went and bought a log with a bigger opening (She hasn't gone in the log since april). I then used a paint brush to coach her out of the log. I didnt use enough force to injure. When she got out, she gave me a threat pose for the first time. I closed the lid and when i checked half hour later, she was still in the pose. I left her alone and she crawled into the new hide at something over the next few hours. Monday she partially sealed off the opening to log but I can see in the log because it's against the side of the enclosure. Either Thursday or Friday morning, I shined the flashlight in to see how she was because she completely sealed off so the inside was completely dark. She turned around and went into a hiding pose. Every morning since then when I do that quick check, she's still in that pose. What can I do to help her. I only check for a few seconds to see if she's okay.
She might be fine! As long as she has access to water, she may just need some alone time. Many spiders do not like to be out in the open and enjoy darkness.
We rescued an E. murinus and we had his house wrong. I noticed he was staying is a certain position with his two front legs over his carapace and eyes. Major stress! Once we put Scully in his new house he made a phenomenon burrow! We rarely see him now lol
I seen this video of a chick messing with her tarantula and it had a bald spot on his abdomen and she kept petting it on that bald spot😬😬😬😬 he was kicking hairs at her but had no more to kick...... Was sad to see I'm glad I found you're video so I don't make the mistakes of stressing my spood out.
@@TarantulaHeaven see mines a curly hair but she hangs out on the sides of her enclosure.... Is that normal??? I'm worried that she's stressed plz helpp
@@jessikalanglois7158 my curly hair does the same thing!!! Im not sure if its because mine is getting used to its new enclosure or if shes stressed....theres a possibility that maybe it doesn't like is substrate...maybe its too looses or dry and not compacted down enough for their liking so its possibly uncomfy for them. Im trying to figure it out i really hope shes not stressed... aaah 😓
Hi again!! I am so happy! I now got Koppe the 12th... and she/he is a Brachypelma emilia!!🙆♂️😄♥️ We rehoused her/him after bringing her- him back back from the reptile/critter show. I got her at a very reasonable price (only 200 Danish Kroner!🙆♂️ She is a large sling, but not a juvie yet. We are looking forward to her first molting! She sure is showing signs/behavior of pre-molt shenanigans; crawling up ans down gevirs. If I am heldig, there is a molt tomorrow AND a vibrant, sligtly større sling/juvie. So now it's goodnite time! Hugs from Copenhagen, Denmark
@@TarantulaHeaven Thank you! Yesterday, she ate her first mini worm. 🙆♂️ I have also seen her drink. So.. she is starting to feel at home, now. 😄 She looks so cute with her sling-colors and tiny carapace. 🥰🙂
I have my t since 5 days and I'm always anxious about her being anxious xD.. at day time she doesn't really do anything, but at night she moves a bit, not enough to call it pacing in my opinion-- she's never kicked hair or threaten posed, I also haven't seen her hide under her legs.. she eats and drinks- yet I still find myself googling stress symptoms every night 😭
Well shoot, I can’t tell if my Tarantula is stressed or not. She’s lazy during the day and just sits , but at night she is all over her enclosure. Climbing the decorations and the walls. Maybe she’s afraid of the dark. I don’t know what to think.
i'm planning to buy a tarantula soon (B.hamorii) and it will be my first tarantula ever 🤧💜 thanks for this video, it's super useful for future tarantula keepers!
Someone dropped of a Texas brown tarantula juvenile in a water bottle on my front porch about two months ago,I think it may be an immature male and he is due a molt soon. I hope it is a male so I can pair it up with my female.
Hello from England, I've just subbed, I like your sound advice. I am relatively new to keeping tarantulas. My Brazilian white knee has just moulted out in the open. She usually moults after burying herself. I'm wondering why she had a change of behaviour.
Thank you! I hope you find my videos helpful. I've heard of some tarantulas having behavioral or preference changes after a particular molt. I wish it knew why, too! It could have, perhaps, been due to a change of season?
Hey Patricia. I was wondering if you intend to get anymore Ts? For a spider lover you don’t have a very big collection. It’s not a criticism, I’m just curious.
Hey Richard! So funny you asked this, bc I recently recorded a video about this lol. I'll post it soon and go more in depth, but the short answer is that at the moment (and for a while) I'm probably not going to get more tarantulas. But once things calm down and I have more time and funds to play with, I may!
I have a new rose hair sling and it’s climbing all of the walls all the time. What’s the perfect substrate for them? I’m considering taking it out and drying the substrate completely out in the oven. I’m just worried if I do that it will be dehydrated in the future
I've always used coconut fibre substrate (amzn.to/3RG0mM8) and my rose hair has liked it a lot. I agree with your idea to dry the substrate - if my substrate even has the LEAST amount of moisture, my rose hair is miserable and won't touch it. This species likes dry substrate so as long as you have a dish full of water in the enclosure you don't have to worry about the spider getting dehydrated.
My tarantula is really friendly. It's going through premolt I believe but I have never experienced this so I was worried .... lol Now it's not eating, covering its hide hole and when I bothered it, it actually kicked hairs out of its hole which is very strange for my guy or gal..... it's also webbing
Karebear's Animal House oh yes that sounds like premolt to me!!! It can be really stressful esp the first time. Best thing you can do is leave it alone so they can do their spider stuff in peace. Hope they have a good molt! Just be aware premolt can last a while depending on your spiders age
Tarantula Heaven yeah it seems like he or she has been like this for a little while now.. hasn’t eaten in a little while. It’s still pretty young, not too big. Not a tiny little sling tho. I have a desert/Arizona blonde. I know I’m suppose to write the Latin word but uhhhj.... lol I’m not good with aphonopelma brachea..... something!?
Tarantula Heaven yes, I agree... it actually seemed friendly and handleable. Although I know most ppl frown on handling tarantulas.... if I ever HAD too, hero she was very friendly and outgoing
I rehoused my t to a smaller enclosure since the one she came in was way too big for her and didn’t have enough substrate to burrow. She bolted out the new enclosure and onto the side of the tank but luckily I caught her in a cup on time. It took a good 10 minutes to get her into her new home. I used the same hides from her last enclosure and added some moss and a few leaves and left the same drinking bowl. I’m hoping she gets adjusted quickly! So far she’s went into her old hide and started webbing (which I haven’t seen her do in a while and I forgot to mention she had molted about 3 days ago and got huge). I’m just constantly checking on signs for stress 😅 she’s usually never active and seems to be her normal self but idk. Any advice?
Webbing is a good sign!!!! It’s ok if it takes some time to adjust, that’s normal. Many tarantulas take several days before they settle in and make their enclosure feel like home
Very informative. Is it ever normal for pink toed Ts to be on the side of the tank? I noticed mine spends a lot of time near the top. I lightly spray the tank once a day because I was told they like high humidity. Subbed.
@@whiteroseproject7207 pink toes are arboreal they like to be in tree ,. Ross ventilation is also better for them , and also , don't spray a lot , some T died because of misinformation about hight humidity , but I'm not a pro tho , I'm a pink toe owner too
Looks like my Lp sling is stressed it climbs around the enclosure and it tries to escape (it's leg reaches out of the vent hole like it was saying "lemme outta here!"). But this started after I put some wet moss inside the enclosure. I panicked and I tried to rehouse it to a bigger enclosure and wow it turned way more aggressive when I poked it with a brush to make it move it just ran off full speed out of the enclosure and thank God I prepared a catching cup so eventually I managed to move it to that bigger enclosure and still climbing around until it calms down. And I'm scared to even open the lid again it stressed me enough to even think about rehousing for the future. What should I do? I'm new to all of this. This is my first time facing problem like this. I need some tips and help please anyone?
Aw it sounds like your T is a little stressed from all the action! I would leave them alone for a few days so they can get adjusted. Definitely look up some more experienced tarantula RUclipsrs who may have a tutorial on how to rehouse that species or faster ones like it - Toms Big Spiders and The Tarantula Collective are great ones!
I just rehoused my striped knee there non terrestrial but they had her or him in a box alittle moisture is good for molting and she just got transferred but I didn’t put a lot of coco coir in the bottom but I plan to make a high side or getting a 5 gallon so she can burrow she liked to dig and I think she’s mad but she could even stretch out in her pet store poly tank I know they don’t need a lot of space but I wouldn’t be to happy not being able to even stretch
Hey would really appreciate a reply I just got a curly hair tarantula never had one before my freind was moving and couldn’t take her so I did and I was could really use some tips on holding her my freind held her a good bit but I have never held her I’ve had her for 2 weeks and she doing good I just haven’t handled her yet cuz honestly I’m scared of getting bit she hasn’t show any aggression cuz I want to try and hold her and would appreciate and tips how best to go about that
Congrats on your spider! So I personally don't encourage people to hold or touch their tarantulas unless absolutely necessary because it places stress on the spider but if you are going to, here is a great video with a ton of tips: ruclips.net/video/0LhT5_SNRO8/видео.html
I just got a GBB that’s between the age of a spiderling and juvenile and it has a hide and has webbed up a tunnel but I notice it’s hiding behind it’s legs even while inside its hide. Is this something to be concerned of ??
Nope nothing to be worried about! Often Ts do that pose when they are feeling a little nervous which is totally normal when they first come to a new home.
i just got mine yesterday and today its been staying in one place for like … a few hours. i know i need to put a bit more coir substrate (sry if i misspelled that) but hes at the top of the enclosure and just staying there :///
Hi Patricia! Please, can I ask for your help? Kind of a scary situation I think. I wanted to ask, can tarantulas die from stress? One of my tarantulas recently molted (a few hours ago) and I opened up the enclosure to refill her water dish. She then threw up a threat pose. After, even though I knew that P. Metallicas are photo sensitive, I tried taking a few pictures w flash on because my friends were egging me to show her beautiful colors and my little sister also kept looking at her with a flashlight on since she was fascinated by spiders. I stupidly allowed her because I really like it when people take interest in my beloved Ts. Then I tried placing a cover by her hide so she doesn't get hit by the light much anymore but again she threw up a threat pose. And right now I'm just really scared that she might end up leaving me permanently because of my actions... Is that possible?
Yes! I am glad that your tarantula molted fine (sounds like she is actually a bit sassy now after her molt). I think she will be fine as long as you give her some alone time. Tarantulas can be defensive after a molt for several days because their bodies are still soft and vulnerable. So she may just be trying to signal that she wants her space to rest and get her strength. Just make sure she has some water and leave her alone for a few days. If her molt was fine I don't think she is having any abnormal behavior. Hope this helps!
@@TarantulaHeaven Hi again :)) Thank you so much for the response! She seems to be doing fine as of right now, thankfully. After coming home from my uni, she was fully spread out in front of her enclosure and right now she's resting in her hidey hole, completely okay. I'm beyond happy right now. I may have overreacted for nothing but thank you again for the reassurance! Definitely helped with calming myself down and not worrying myself to death hahahaha. Have a good one and thanks again!!🙇
Hello. I have an arboreal tarantula juvenile that I’m assuming is male but I’m not sure. He is constantly in the pose where they are covering themselves with their legs. He is a pink toe tarantula so I needed to spray his enclosure with water. When I spayed in there he got super spazzy and fell on to the ground of his enclosure. He is refusing food as well. And any time he moves he moves a normal pace but his legs are super fast and also spazzing. I re homed him 2 months ago and he hasn’t created a web yet. When he was refusing food I assumed he was I’m premolt but then realized he molted 2 1/2 months ago (about) Also I’m not new to tarantulas and keeping them as pets (I have 7 total + other exotics) I got this tarantula about a year ago from petco because they had him in a enclosure that was not okay for an arboreal tarantula. I also thought he could me maturing but he is a juvenile (2” leg-span about) Please let me know if you have an idea of what’s going on with him. Also he was a SUPER good eater. Hasn’t refused a meal since i got him until about 4 months ago.
The Arachnerd Aw I’m sorry this is happening! One thing I can think of that might explain him not eating besides premolt could be the changing seasons if you’re on the east coast. Spidey always gets slow and has a less stable appetite once fall comes. As for the spazzing legs perhaps he has an injury that impacted his ability to move when he fell? I know dyskinetic syndrome has some of these symptoms too but I really hope that’s not the case!
My two we just brought home this week are doing this. They are in a separate spare room. I’ve checked on them by walking in and see them hiding themselves with there legs, what can I do? I’m very limited with contact.
To clarify, a curly and pink toe. Separate 5 gallon (for now) Long and vertical. Not in direct light. Deeper substrates for curly. Bought a bioactive kit with leaves and moss. Wood pieces.
That sounds like a nice enclosure. How are they doing? It's really normal for tarantulas to hide and be scared after getting into a new environment. Mine did this for the first week or two after I got her and now she is very "confident" and stretches out. How are they doing? The best you can do is continue letting them adjust and just give food/water when needed.
He might have been cleaning himself! Sometimes my tarantula rubs her butt or body with her legs and it looks like she might be flicking hairs but she is just softly rubbing her body to get clean.
I was hoping to figure out what's going on with my A. geniculata. It was fine when I got it last month (Juvenile), always out on display and would run and hide in it's skull hide when spooked. As of last week (just when I decided to rehouse it), I've only seen it out of the hide once or twice. I'm thinking pre-molt (or psychic and doesn't want to move), but any advice from a fellow spider keeper would help.
That sounds like normal and annoying tarantula behavior lol. Very normal for tarantulas to be skittish and antisocial. My tarantulas love being in their private space. Sometimes this can be because they are getting used to a new home or are in premolt and want to be protected/privacy. But some tarantulas just like to be in their hides. My baby tarantula spends most of its time underground and my adult G. rosea loves to be in enclosed, dark spaces. It's usually very normal and it's likely that your tarantula is coming out at night when it's quiet and dark.
@Tarantula Heaven Yeah, just typical T behaviour. It molted the day after the message and now it is in it's new enclosure, with it's "look at me" attitude. My first two (B hamorii and boehmei) don't seem to give a damn when molting, they do it in the middle of their enclosures.
That's a great question! I think it depends on the age of your tarantula. If you have a baby, they might be hungry 2-3 times per week. For most adults a feeding once every 1-2 weeks is good. It's also normal for your tarantula to eat less during colder months because they slow down and "hibernate" a little
I got a G. Pulchripes sling yesterday and I found it sitting on top of its hide, legs in front of it and it's completely stiff. I still don't know if she's just stressed or if she's being dormant in a weird pose :/
Congrats on your new spider! It sounds like this is a normal weird pose for a tarantula. Keep an eye on her, she will likely move a teeny bit in a few hours if she's just hanging out. Sometimes they like to stretch out their legs.
@@TarantulaHeaven thanks for your insight! It ate a pretty big mealworm for it's size yesterday night and it's probably just being a T and adjusting to its new enclosure at the same time
What are your suggestions for starting a channel documenting my journey in the hobby when I don't have a huge tarantula collection for feed videos etc?
Congrats on your little collection! I think you should just do it! Sometimes we just have to accept that our first few dozen videos aren't going to be great but we will learn so much about the process and what kind of videos we enjoy making. Check out other channels that you love and admire. My channel is more about observation and information giving, and it doesn't have any fancy camera stuff going on. Other channels like The Tarantula Collective are very creative while being very useful. Tom Moran is a great channel, too. Just see what you like and what suits your style and go for it!
@@TarantulaHeaven thank you so much. The just accept my first videos. May not be great takes away so much fear and makes me feel some freedom to just have fun with it. Thank you.
thank you for this video. I’m a new Brachypelma albopilosum mum and the people I bought him from told me completely the wrong information for taking care of him which of course stressed him out. I did my own research and fixed all of the issues but what I did recently stressed wybee out to the point where he’s constantly hiding. Now I’m aware he’s a burrowing species but I’m a bit confused on how to feed him when he’s completely blocked himself off, Any advice? he’s just molted and I was told he should be hungry after doing so but he hasn’t eaten in a while and I’m getting concerned.
Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear that :( That sounds so stressful for you and the spider. If he blocked himself off, that's really normal behavior for after a molt or wanting to be left alone. How long has it been since his molt? Some tarantulas need up to 2 weeks before accepting food after molting. He will likely be ok, just keep trying every week or two. My tarantulas regularly stop eating for 6+ months at a time and they are fine. My g. rosea once went a year and a half without food and had a perfectly healthy molt and regained her appetite. It was STRESSFUL but I learned that that's just what they do lol. Just make sure he has water even if he's not eating :)
@@TarantulaHeaven oh my thank you so much, I’m so relieved after hearing that. He molted about a week ago and I just wasn’t sure if his behavior was normal. he always has fresh water in his enclosure but I’ll try feeding him again in a few days. It’s crazy how long they can go without eating, I was shocked when reading that haha. I really appreciate you replying to my comment, thank you x
I have a curly hair and this is my first time caring for one. He seems to enjoy when I handle him but when I put him back in his tank, he tries to climb out of the exit. The humidity is good and I use eco earth for bedding. Please give me any tips or let me know if I’m doing something wrong. It’s worrisome
Is the eco earth wet at all? My rose hair will climb even if the dirt is just A LITTLE moist. She hates it lol. If there's moisture on the substrate, that could be it, that's why a lot of terrestrials climb. However sometimes spiders are just naughty and they do whatever they want lol
My albopilosum sling tend to climb the enclosure at midnight and just stayed there for hours.. I'm so curious, what is he doing? :( Is he stressed or something? He just had his meal 2 days ago and he moves alot while eating, until i sprayed water to the substrate. I didn't even spray it all over the place, only half of it. Sorry, I'm a new keeper so I tend to worry about everything 😂
AdityaVanko congrats on your baby spider!!! It’s likely a response to the wet substrate.. my g rose does this behavior of her substrate even has the smallest amount of moisture. She hates it! Allow it to dry and if needed add more substrate so the sling doesn’t fall too far from climbing
Sorry you are going through this :( How is she doing? Unfortunately this sounds like DKS but I'm not sure. This may be a helpful video: ruclips.net/video/wB-FOatxUQw/видео.html
Hello, so I recently moved my tarantula into a smaller enclosure (10 gal) because she was to stressed in her big one. She was doing the stress curl so I knew right away, then 2 weeks after I moved her into her new enclosure she is still doing the curl. I don’t go in there often (only to like change her water dish) so idk what to do. She hasn’t aten in like 3 months and her abdomen is a little smaller than her carepiece at this point. Can anyone help out on this im scared for her health
So sorry you are going through this! She might be in premolt if she is not eating however her small abdomen is a little concerning. Is she drinking water? Do you know how old she is?
A bald spot can be for other reasons besides stress. Sometimes it is stress related to be careful that nothing is stressing her out however if she is also not eating as much it could also be a sign that she's going to molt soon.
Hi I know I’m a little late but My tarantula is in a completely new enclosure. I just got them and I am worried that they are unhappy because of the signs. Do you have any tips?
Congrats on your spider! That's pretty normal when a spider just gets into a new home. Just make sure they have water in their water dish and leave them alone for a few days so they have time to adjust and settle down :)
my g pulchripes sling molted last week & now has a bald spot again just a week later… is it too early for it to molt? do you think it’s stress, or could it possibly be in premolt again already?
Great question! I haven't really heard of Ts shaking while walking besides in cases of Dyskinetic syndrome or when there is an issue with mobility. That might impact the way they move. If your tarantula has a very plump abdomen it might look like it's shaking as they move.
@@TarantulaHeaven oh thank god she does have a plump abdomen I’ve seen videos of did and it looks heart breaking, so I was just seeing if tarantula wobble while they walk was normal
The part with:" I can't see you, so you can't see me", is a bit cute. 🥰 But I know, always be real good to the animals, that trust us with our care. We are the stewards of this world, and generally, we are doing a piss-poor job. Sorry about the language. 😰😡🤦♂️
But i just curious could she be just checking it out or is she trying to find her old home if she’s not happy by tomorrow I’ll put her back we’re she wants to be never seen one want to get out so bad I know there’s no where to hide and nothing but a leaf but I will try to make a nice place to dig a burrow but if she don’t like it I’ll put her back we’re she wants to be
Thank you for caring for your spider! Sometimes it takes them a little while to adjust, she may settle down after a little. Sometimes moving is stressful for them and they don't like change.
@@TarantulaHeaven I gave her some hiding places I have many spiders but never seen one act as if it’s so scared of everything unless it’s food it’ll eat everyday if you let it I try to make sure her abdomen shrinks alittle before feeding but I never seen any poop 💩 so idk were it’s going but it’s going
Mine used to do that, too... it's pretty dangerous :( This is something I did that helped me. She hasn't done it since: ruclips.net/video/FOPRjDOrMz8/видео.html
My T is on the wall sitting still for like 3 hours, she is new to her terarium, is it normal? Does she just need to walk trought it and explore or should i make a new home for her?
I wonder if my obt is stress. Cause it just molted like a week ago. But its still covering itself with web and covering its hide with it. Also it doesnt want to eat. If it is, what reason it may be?
It might be stress but that's also pretty normal behavior after a molt. Usually they want to be left alone for a little bc they are adjusting to their new body. I saw wait a few more days to a week - they will probably be more active and hungry then!
Can I private message you? I have a serious question about one of my t’s. I’d really appreciate it since I don’t know what’s going on with her. Thanks!
There could be a lot of reasons they won't eat. Did you just get them? Sometimes Ts will want to sit still or refuse food for a while when they get into a new enclosure. Also, if it's winter where you are, your tarantula's metabolism might have slowed down for winter (mine do this). Most commonly, your tarantula might be in premolt, preparing for a molt so it is normal for them not to eat. What kind of species is your T?
@@TarantulaHeaven just hangs around on the side of it enclosure just stays there, doesn't walk around or anything. it been in enclosure since i bought it which was least year now.

Always re-use the substrate
Another tip is to never rehouse an adult female if she is astablished in her adult enclosure.

Aw thank you Beth!
Thanks a lot!! I was concerned for hours
. cause after moving her to a new enclosure, she hid herself(curled) in a corner above the floor substrate. Haha and I now see it's because stress and the substrate was wet!
Glad I could help! How is she doing?
How is she? Mine is doing the same thing
Me: omg I love u so much, I hope u love me too! ❤️
Spooder: what is love?

I saw your comment and got extremely confused because I have never seen this video before and have never commented on it.
Ohhh I am glad she is being a little more active for you!
Every time I put my hand in to socialize, my tarantula stands there for maybe 10-20 seconds or so and then run at full speed back into their log.
LOL welcome to tarantula keeping! My tarantulas can sit in one spot for literally 24 hours XD

Oh no :( I am so sorry to hear that news :( My thoughts are with you.
I know, being a new T owner is very stressful! You will get used to her thought - pacing at night is a little normal.
Your videos are brilliant, please keep them coming
Right now im watching this with my tarantula sitting on my forearm😂
Awwww :3 Thanks so much for watching, I hope you and your spider have a great day!
Well shoot, I can’t tell if my Tarantula is stressed or not. She’s lazy during the day and just sits , but at night she is all over her enclosure. Climbing the decorations and the walls. Maybe she’s afraid of the dark. I don’t know what to think.

What does it mean when my tarantula keeps climbing it’s walls of the enclosure
It could be stress or something in their tank that is bothering them. Or curiosity, sometimes they just like to climb around lol
@@TarantulaHeaven thanks for letting me know. I definitely think he was just curious lol

Tarantula Heaven Nice one Patricia, I look forward to seeing that video!
My very small tarantula is running everywhere weirdly it’s legs look wierd while it’s booting across the enclosure and it hasn’t eaten Since I got it
How long have you had your new tarantula? It's a little normal for them to move around a lot and not eat after they get to a new home.
@@TarantulaHeaven it’s now dead 😢
My tarantula is really friendly. It's going through premolt I believe but I have never experienced this so I was worried .... lol
Now it's not eating, covering its hide hole and when I bothered it, it actually kicked hairs out of its hole which is very strange for my guy or gal..... it's also webbing
I know I’m suppose to write the Latin word but uhhhj.... lol I’m not good with aphonopelma brachea..... something!?
Karebear's Animal House I have a baby Arizona blonde... great species!
Many tarantulas take several days before they settle in and make their enclosure feel like home
but i heard that you need to spray a little on the ground and now she is on the wall thank you
Sometimes depending on the spider species, some hate wet substrate!
Very informative. Is it ever normal for pink toed Ts to be on the side of the tank? I noticed mine spends a lot of time near the top. I lightly spray the tank once a day because I was told they like high humidity. Subbed.
Rick Sanchez thank you!!! Yes I’ve heard pink toes are quite the climbers!

Top video my tarantula is cleaning its legs over and over not sure if I got problems he will not sit still
Sounds normal to me! My tarantulas can spend hours cleaning their legs :)

That's normal that they would want to stay in one spot at first. How is this T doing now?
How do i stop my Tarantula from being Stressed ❓ ❗My Tarantula is Showing Signs ❗
Is your T ok?!
She is gorgeous!
Thank you!
Glad to know my pet rock must be happy!
LOL the less they do, the happier they are XD
Why did my tarantula cover the opening of the coconut hide
They're probably getting ready to molt! It's totally normal behavior. Another idea is they might just want some alone time :)
@@TarantulaHeaven thank you
my t was flicking his legs, not kicking hair just flicking his legs. does this mean anything? he's a juvenile male not adult
I have a question, how many times a week should a tarantula be fed? Thank you for your time !
My channel is more about observation and information giving, and it doesn't have any fancy camera stuff going on. thank you for this video.
My Acanthoscuria Geniculata climb al so up, may be i should Change the Substrate.
Try it out, maybe it will make a difference!
My albopilosum sling tend to climb the enclosure at midnight and just stayed there for hours..
I'm so curious, what is he doing? :(
Is he stressed or something?
He just had his meal 2 days ago and he moves alot while eating, until i sprayed water to the substrate.
I didn't even spray it all over the place, only half of it.
Sorry, I'm a new keeper so I tend to worry about everything 😂
AdityaVanko congrats on your baby spider!!! It’s likely a response to the wet substrate.. my g rose does this behavior of her substrate even has the smallest amount of moisture. She hates it! Allow it to dry and if needed add more substrate so the sling doesn’t fall too far from climbing
How would a tarantula do any exercise?

Thank you for your input. If you could provide wha you use as a substrate as I have 2 terrarial slings. Thanks again keep the videos coming.
I'm glad it was helpful! I use coconut fibre substrate - this is the one I use: amzn.to/33rPYzV
Thank you. Are you surviving the hurricane?
I bought a 2" LP last week and she is not eating until now. No signs of premolt as well. What shall I do?
It's really normal for tarantulas to stop eating for a little bit when they first get accustomed to a new home. Give her some time!
Tarantula Heaven she is drinking water and is only 4 years old she is a rose hair to
I have a red knee tarantula and he/she has a bold spot on the abdomen,
I’m worried about him/her what should I do
A bald spot can be for other reasons besides stress.
I just rehoused it and put some new things in, is it normal if it climbs to a corner ? Does it have to get comfortable?
Yes, that sounds pretty normal. My tarantula will sulk a little after getting her tank cleaned too lol
my g pulchripes sling molted last week & now has a bald spot again just a week later… is it too early for it to molt? do you think it’s stress, or could it possibly be in premolt again already?
Hmm... I know that slings can molt pretty frequently but that is quite soon. It might be stress, keep an eye on it over the next several days.
My juvenile has a bald spot and her leg is stuck to her albumen
Did she have a bad molt?!
@@TarantulaHeaven she has not molted lately and her leg is not like really stuck she can move it but she keeping it on her abdomen
Is shaking slightly while walking a sign of stress?
Great question! I haven't really heard of Ts shaking while walking besides in cases of Dyskinetic syndrome or when there is an issue with mobility. That might impact the way they move. If your tarantula has a very plump abdomen it might look like it's shaking as they move.
@@TarantulaHeaven oh thank god she does have a plump abdomen I’ve seen videos of did and it looks heart breaking, so I was just seeing if tarantula wobble while they walk was normal
Thanks for the help
The part with:" I can't see you, so you can't see me", is a bit cute. 🥰 But I know, always be real good to the animals, that trust us with our care. We are the stewards of this world, and generally, we are doing a piss-poor job. Sorry about the language. 😰😡🤦♂️
So true! We have a big responsibility.
What about if my T hangs upside down on the enclosure?
Mine used to do that, too... it's pretty dangerous :( This is something I did that helped me. She hasn't done it since: ruclips.net/video/FOPRjDOrMz8/видео.html
My T is on the wall sitting still for like 3 hours, she is new to her terarium, is it normal? Does she just need to walk trought it and explore or should i make a new home for her?
That sounds pretty normal for a t in a new home. Give her a few days to get used to it :)
@@TarantulaHeaven alright ! thank you so much.
@@TarantulaHeaven Noted, thanks for your response! Keep on making informative vids
Can I private message you? I have a serious question about one of my t’s. I’d really appreciate it since I don’t know what’s going on with her. Thanks!
Yes, the best way to reach me is info@tarantulaheaven.com!
Hey do u know why my tarantula isn’t eating or moving he only moves when I touch him and also I put a work Infront of him and he doesn’t eat
Also he is always in the edge and on the heat mat also his cage is like a 10 or 5 it’s tall
@@TarantulaHeaven well yes I just got my tarantula and I forgot what species he is i think he is a skeleton tarantula
@@TarantulaHeaven or a Brazilian tarantula
My tarantula is wetting its abdomen is it normal? She molted 2weeks ago im curious
Wetting her abdomen? I have never heard of that - can you please explain a little more? Is it possible she is grooming?
@@TarantulaHeaven i dont know if she is grooming but she is like licking her legs then, she's like rubbing it to her abdomen
is it normal for davus pentaloris to climb a around the enclosure but which is mostly on the ground ? or that stress as well
Lee Pearson if a spider is pacing excessively it could be stress. See if there’s anything in the enclosure that might be annoying it.
@@TarantulaHeaven just hangs around on the side of it enclosure just stays there, doesn't walk around or anything. it been in enclosure since i bought it which was least year now.
i rehoused her seem better at the moment
Ur awesome
Thank you!
Get rid of your toxic , scented candle , that’s what’s causing it stress 🙄
Very good point, I realized this after the fact :(
