Your video is very authentic and educational. Thank you for your hard work. God bless you more 🙏
I have the book and it's wonderful. It's beautiful as a table book so I just leave mine out. The book does cover the "basics" and it's great as a reference for reference to jog my memory when issues come up. Also it's great to use when family or guests ask about the sheep so I can show one of the beautiful photographs while I'm answering the questions. It's a great purchase for yourself or as a great gift for someone interested in raising sheep.
THANK YOU!!

Thumbs up and I should listen first to what you have to say but maybe can add to questions. Dorpers don't seem to shed to good and don't thrive in my environment. Are they just a feed lot breed on flat land like I suspect. Have tried several strains and by the time I get g hem culled out no longer consider them dorper?
Not all genetics are created equal and not all environments will accommodate a pure bred Dorper. Katahdin is a better choice for rainfall above 40” annually.
When you do buy Dorper, buy quality and do plenty of research!
Is there a second channel
4 lbs per animal seemed pretty accurate to me but would depend on how much grain fed
Nice we agree on breeding. Needs to be controlled. Breeding lambs to young socks. I tried it to
I want to keep about 6 sheep on my 22 acre property for a hobby. I'm only able to be at the property once or twice a month, is it possible to raise sheep this way? Are there any Hardy breeds that need minimal maintenance and don't require worming all the time?
I wouldn’t recommend it if you can only visit twice a month. I check on my sheep daily to make sure they are ok
It’s family thing
👍
I have question but I don't always catch you live. Do you have an email?
Thumbs up but I'm wondering how much grain you have to feed a dorper? To make them the Angus of sheep. It's hard not to gravitate to a dorper ,doing it again. Bought 5 ewes out of dorper ,kata DC in cross. But this will be the last time I try dorper I my environment
I’m pretty much pasture only. Come winter, if I don’t have stockpile pasture, I’ll feed quality hay (free choice as much as they can eat).
Grain is more an emergency measure for me. E.g. short term supplement for a ewe that’s really struggling to feed her lambs.
That said: I’ve got high rainfall and a lot of quality pasture! It’s a huge advantage.
@@theShepherdess yeah I got some steep hills and rock faces! Lots to eat for them though and have never had to trim hooves cause of the climbing rocks all the time.
Do you sell out of state ,florida meat
👍
I don't make a breed of choice I follow the sheep that thrive in my environment and it ain't dorper . I do belive my sheep would not measure up in a feed lot environment. Mine are katadin but have culled so harshly not sure that's true. Sheep are sheep you can get where your environment requires by culling harshly
Well I watch the whole video ,she is a great marketer ,power to her . She's is a complete sales man or woman I'm not known to be PC😅 I'm trying to be PC and will just say, you have to find what works in Your environment . Admmitally that may be dorper. Will just say that isn't hustling on large paddocks. will just say i have large paddocks that i dont over graze and will say only that it is my opinion after trying 4 different strains of dorper, that they do not thrive in my environment . Ive come to the conclusion that black head and white head dorpers are a feed lot breed. Just so you know katadins working for me ,stcroix and black bellies seem to thrive and Hustle in any environment but don't pack much weight. In my environment katadins rein. But admittedly I keep trying and failing to put a bigger frame on them with dorper.my experience with dorpers is they don't shed fast enough and always dragging tail end of herd
Where are you located?

I am based in Georgia. Facebook is full of scammers. I have no luck finding any sellers. Can you help?
Try private groups rather than open pages!
Thank you!
Ask your county cooperative extension 4-H ag agent, 4-h youth would be a possible source locally
Ain't no playing here ,electric fence just feeds the predators. Granted I'm high in mountains, coyotes the worst but many cougar and wolves and now our lovely government is giving us grizzles
Put a Sling on a long gun and carry it with you always. Bears, Cougars and Wolves are certified Man-eaters.
7.5lbs per day?
