Hi! I am a full time artist, and if you'd like to support my work, please check out www.wornwizard.com. I'm primarily making jewelry now. I get a lot of comments asking me to slow down the video... you're in luck! There is a full build series for these flip flops on my channel. Here's the first video - ruclips.net/video/wlH_W8PdZdI/видео.html
I know this is an old video with a lot of comments, but I just HAD to say this... Why on EARTH didn't _I_ think of the sock on the hand thing?!?!?!? Genius, pure simple genius. Gonna have to steal that one.
Before the process began I saw the photo of the most beautiful pair of flip flops imaginable and then being guided through he making with such wonderful music has been a joy.🥰
@@wornwizard nice work.... my only question is what's the reason for using pinesol in your water? After just over 50 years of working leather this is the first I've seen of anyone using pinesol in there water... Again, good job and look forward to hearing from you.
@@jessemarvin3217 You have a lot more experience than I do. A few year back I was having black speckles show up on hides occasionally, I thought maybe it was oxidizing metal dust from the air. I asked about it in a fb group and someone suggested it may be a mold or impurities in my water, and to try adding a bit of pinesol to my water. It worked and I've been using it ever since. Let me know what your thoughts are on this!
This is an amazing video. I’m new to the craft and mainly lean via lurking on forums and tutorial videos. This is, by far, the best one. I’ve been wanting to make sandals for a while but haven’t found much in tutorials. This feels like the holy grail. Thank you.
So I watched like 15 different DIY Sandal videos on RUclips, but this one is the most professional by a very big margin! Good job Sir, I respect your attention to detail!
Wow, they turned out so great! I love the burnished edges everywhere - even "good" expensive leather sandals today often are left with rough edges - to me, that just looks cheap and careless and unfinished. I learned a lot, thank you!
Ah ha! Thank you! I've been wanting to make my own flip flops but couldn't find what material to make the soles out of, aside from reusing tires. You gave me the right direction at the right time, som uch gratitude!
If I had a choice out of all the fine leather work on RUclips, I'd not give it a second thought...it would be a pair of your flip flops. Quality work brother. I'm gonna be sad until the day I own a pair.
I've never liked flip flops very much. I've warn them, but never with love. I'd sport these beauties any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Talk about a work of art.
That was one of the best things I’ve watched in long time thank you for doing it I was wondering how you would protect the stitching of the soles deeper cut then you pulled out the crape material The it was answered right there ! Need to watch again to see if I missed where you said what weight leather you used Again pleasure watching true craftsmanship Turkey Creek Custom Knives
910K views !!! Awesome !!!. My best and longest lasting flip flops was a pair that Berts Surf Shop in eastern NC sold. They have long since stop carrying their house branded flop and sell the rainbow brand. No where as long lasting. Love this video. Thanks. Tom
Very fine craftsmanship. Fine production all round.decent sandals last some time and a fine pair like this would be worth Pain for. Glad I found. Thanks !
I gotta ask, how much actual time did you have in these. Truly a thing of beauty and you deserve all of the accolades you receive. Amazing, the quality of craftsmanship unequaled and just mind blowing the time and effort placed in these sandals. Thank you so much for the journey, now I know why, hand crafted items are so rare to find, and when you do, it's out of appreciation for that time and effort that we pay the price willingly for them.I will indeed subscribe, because to not to, would be an embarrassment to myself.

Back in the 90's and 2000's, I had resigned myself that decent leather shoes and purses would be 100 dollars or much more and would save up or find them on sale.. Nowadays, purses and shoes of even that standard can't be found. The average American has been left out of the leather world. I haven't had a decent leather purse or pair of leather shoes since Doc Marten's. Sneakers are disgracefully being made with what looks like bridal veils and pot scrubbers. Good affordable shoes AND flip flops are hard to find. These flip flops are beautiful and high quality. I may have to learn how to make them. I wish he sold them on his website.
Teena Pittman since he doesn’t appear to be offering them for sale, I’d refer you to Southern Polished for high quality handmade sandals. There is a video on their RUclips channel Trenton & Heath on how they make them.
I don't consider Docs to be good quality, but, if you are a woman who is gravitationally privileged (under, say 125 lbs) than you don't need as much cushion in the sole as I do at 200 Lbs :) :( BTW, this guy cuts boot in half to show you how they are made! ruclips.net/user/RoseAnvilvideos

Howbeit when *HE* the spirit of truth, is come, *HE* will guide you into all truth: for *HE* shall not speak of himself but whatsoever *HE* shall hear, that shall *HE* speak and *HE* will show you things to come. He shall glorify me Some Christians say that the Comforter mentioned in these prophecies refers to the Holy Spirit. They fail to realize that the prophecy clearly says that only if Jesus (p.b.u.h) departs then the Comforter will come. The Bible states that the Holy Spirit was already present on earth before and during the time of Jesus (p.b.u.h), in the womb of Elizabeth, and again when Jesus (p.b.u.h) was being baptized, etc. Hence this prophecy refers to none other than Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h).The Spirit of Truth, spoken about in this prophecy also refers to none other than Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h) *NOTE* the word Jesus Christ and the word Christianity derived from word Christ both are man made words not divine.According to the original manuscript of bible which is in Hebrew or Aramaic jesus real name is MESSIAH or ESAU/ESAW Messiah of bible never said that call him by the name of Jesus Christ Messiah of bible never claimed any religion by name of Christianity Messiah of bible was a jew and he has been sent only for guidance of Jewish tribes only JOHN 1:11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. MATTHEW 15:24 i am not being sent but only unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel "Messiah or ESAW brought final part/testament of Jewish law commonly known as new testament MATTHEW 5:17 New Living Translation "Don't misunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the LAW OF MOSES or the writings of the prophets(of Jews ). No, I came to accomplish their purpose Hence proved from all above references that bible is the book of jews only and MESSIAH never claimed any religion by name of christianity rather he was a Prophet for jews guidance only and thats why MESSIAH of bible Prophesied *PROPHET MOHAMED* as upcoming comforter and prince of this world *PROPHET MOHAMED* is the last prophet but for all the nations and tribes of this world *Hence Accept ISLAM now*
MakerDad - its a very complex process , so please would you be polite sir to tell us - I guess you manufacture also for sale, or if not approx how much those pair worth it, thanks for an answer.
Those are beautiful sandals. Now the real question how long did it really take you to make the pair of sandals? Just curious I'm just getting into enjoying leather work I don't throw up myself I can't but I enjoy watching others do it and I was just wondering how long it took. You do beautiful work
hassan hrazmi how much for a size EU 45??..? They have to be a mans shoe as I walk weird and need the thicker bottom on both?. It doesn't have to be fancy, I'm a simple person no frilly stuff!!!
Can you make these with "arch support" for people who want to wear flip flops but have heel spurs or plantar fasciitis? I'd love a design for something I can wear all day that won't lead to flat feet.
@@wornwizard That would be amazing and so unique. Thank you! Looking forward to that modification. As people get older the muscle under the feet gets weaker and stops providing arch support. It leads to great pain. I remember taking some flip flops to Disney. What a mistake. I don't remember ever feeling that when I was 16. lol
MakerDad I have the gear and skills but not the measurements or patterns. I went to @jake210c on Twitter with no results. I assume I’m not going to the right place. Where might one obtain this information good sir? Great tips BTW. Video is straight to the point and loaded with great information. Thanks.

You’re doing a wonderful job, very efficient... I have ocd. I say that to say, just as u said, “don’t fall asleep” I was thinking... maaaan this is relaxing! Thank you for sharing!
Very nice! I think if I ever get up the courage to try this project, I'll try to remember to burnish the thong before I sew it down. It should be easier that way.
I can't believe man how creative you Are, mind blowing 👍.. While watching I can say how efforts it needs inorder to make the good outcomes, outstanding brother I appreciate ua hard work, keep going and explore more ❤️. GOOD LUCK
I break countless cheap flip flops and was recently given a pile of thin-medium thickness leather. Would it be possible for me to make an inferior recreation of these by adding a layer or two to the bottom? If I can solve my flip flop problem with handmade sandals made from my grandmothers old cushion cover that would be awesome. I have very little experience with leather work, but I can do a little bit of everything and have been wanting to improve my skills in that area
Cushion covers are made of chrome tan leather. This is very soft and not comparable to the veg tanned leather he used. Without veg tan, you would need another type of stiff material for the soles. (Btw. I have the same problem. On youtube you only find people working with veg tan leather. But you rarely see chrome tan projects... )
In west Africa, sandals are worn by 95% of the population. I purchased some leather ones, handmade, in answer to your question. The bottoms are made from recycled motorcycle tires. Perhaps this might be of helpful.
Wow. I am planning to make 2-layers leather sandals for myself and this video of yours is a great inspiration! I wonder - what kind of stitching chisels (pricking irons?) do you use? Thank you.
Managed to survive thru 2 yrs of College in Santa Barbara (Marine Diving Tech) with GI Bill and leather work --Fall '69 - fall '71.....Mostly self taught, leathercraft was hippy-dippy crude, but sold a lot of belts, handbags, watch bands, etc by word of mouth.... Partnered up with Alex Nordholm during my last semester--"Norsemen Leather" (Nordholm-Schumacher) Carpinteria, CA...He was the master sandal maker and I did most of the handbags, belts, cases, etc....Learned to make sandals and produced 60 pairs of custom sandals the summer of 1971 before moving to coastal Louisiana to work offshore.....It's much easier if ya have all the shoe making equipment....We made sandals similarly to your way, but no stitching--brass rivets and brass clinch nails for soles, MUCH quicker....Barge cement is what really kept sandals together....Back then, we used mostly latigo for uppers and thick chrome bends for soles.....Really miss that hippy-dippy leather shop smell....LOL
@@wornwizard ya did nice work on those flip flops.....Much easier with hand crank sole cutter and a row of motorized sanding/polishing drums.... ;o) Still have a few small trays of clinch nails and various brass rivets.....Also, funky solid brass belt buckles.....Have debated whether to make up a bunch of long, blank belts with 50 yr old buckles attached for people to finish any way they want....Probably sell on Etsy.....Don't need $$ and haven't been inspired yet.....Have made over 100 leather helmet shields (about 50 with wood, copper, brass plaques) for retired fire family but ran out of steam a few years ago....(was a fireman for 25 yrs, retired 16 yrs ago).....
This really makes me want to make a pair of sandals. The only problem is that I have to wait until I wear my present sandals out so I can take them apart and make a pattern out of them.
Sam Harper You could do that, but you don't have to. I didn't cannibalize another pair, just traced my foot and marked the thong hole between my toes on the first pair.

*JESUS himself Prophesied (PROPHET MOHAMED) in BIBLE with Title of (UPCOMING ANOTHER COMFORTER) & As (PRINCE OF THIS WORLD) --- (Hence Accept ISLAM now) ---*
*Revelation 22:7* Blessed are those who obey the words of prophecy written in this book
*John **14:16* And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you *ANOTHER COMFORTER* that he may abide with you forever
*John **14:25* These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you
*John **14:26* But the *COMFORTER* which is the Holy Ghost whom the father will send in my name he shall teach you all the things and bring all things to your remembrance whatsoever I have said unto you
*John **14:30* Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the *PRINCE OF THIS WORLD cometh* and hath nothing in me
*John **15:26* But when the *COMFORTER* is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me
*John 16:7* Nevertheless I tell you the truth; it is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away the *COMFORTER* will not come unto you; but if I depart I will send him unto you
*John 16:8* and when *HE* is come he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment
*John **16:12**-13* I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when *HE* the spirit of truth, is come, *HE* will guide you into all truth: for *HE* shall not speak of himself but whatsoever *HE* shall hear, that shall *HE* speak and *HE* will show you things to come. He shall glorify me
Some Christians say that the Comforter mentioned in these prophecies refers to the Holy Spirit. Hence this prophecy refers to none other than Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h).The Spirit of Truth, spoken about in this prophecy also refers to none other than Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h)
*NOTE* the word Jesus Christ and the word Christianity derived from word Christ both are man made words not divine.According to the original manuscript of bible which is in Hebrew or Aramaic jesus real name is MESSIAH or ESAU/ESAW
Messiah of bible never said that call him by the name of Jesus Christ
Messiah of bible never claimed any religion by name of Christianity
Messiah of bible was a jew and he has been sent only for guidance of Jewish tribes only
JOHN 1:11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
MATTHEW 15:24 i am not being sent but only unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel
"Messiah or ESAW brought final part/testament of Jewish law commonly known as new testament
MATTHEW 5:17 New Living Translation "Don't misunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the LAW OF MOSES or the writings of the prophets(of Jews ). No, I came to accomplish their purpose
Hence proved from all above references that bible is the book of jews only and MESSIAH never claimed any religion by name of christianity rather he was a Prophet for jews guidance only and thats why MESSIAH of bible Prophesied *PROPHET MOHAMED* as upcoming comforter and prince of this world *PROPHET MOHAMED* is the last prophet but for all the nations and tribes of this world
*Hence Accept ISLAM now*

holy sandal! Holy flip flop :D Amazing craftmanship!
MakerDad - its a very complex process , so please would you be polite sir to tell us - I guess you manufacture also for sale, or if not approx how much those pair worth it, thanks for an answer.
GREAT WORK!!! I'm amazed at the work that went into making your leather flip flops by hand.
Thank you!
Just plain amazing! Keep up the good work!👍
Beautiful work... Excellent craftsmanship.
Those are beautiful sandals. Now the real question how long did it really take you to make the pair of sandals? Just curious I'm just getting into enjoying leather work I don't throw up myself I can't but I enjoy watching others do it and I was just wondering how long it took. You do beautiful work
Christine Davis Thanks! Check out my channel, I did a full build series. Takes 2-3 days.
MakerDad What is the price of those hand made sandals?
Christine Davis This is good and beautiful I am also a women's shoes manufacturer
hassan hrazmi how much for a size EU 45??..? They have to be a mans shoe as I walk weird and need the thicker bottom on both?. It doesn't have to be fancy, I'm a simple person no frilly stuff!!!
It's cool how you do your saddle stitching inside a kiln.
How many hours roughly, did you invest? Excellent work. Where do you purchase your leather, Tandy maybe?
Donald Haynes About 20-24 hours. And yes, Tandy. Thanks!!
Can you make these with "arch support" for people who want to wear flip flops but have heel spurs or plantar fasciitis? I'd love a design for something I can wear all day that won't lead to flat feet.
Hopefully I will do a variation with arch support in the future
@@wornwizard That would be amazing and so unique. Thank you! Looking forward to that modification. As people get older the muscle under the feet gets weaker and stops providing arch support. It leads to great pain. I remember taking some flip flops to Disney. What a mistake. I don't remember ever feeling that when I was 16. lol
Nearly 1 million views! I still can't wrap my head around that number. Thank you for watching! Please subscribe for many more videos!
Whats the leather thickness on all three layers? how do you determine the the strap and thong size?
@@jake210c Check out my FAQ and tutorial videos
*Cual seria el costo* ?
MakerDad I have the gear and skills but not the measurements or patterns. I went to @jake210c on Twitter with no results. I assume I’m not going to the right place. Where might one obtain this information good sir? Great tips BTW. Video is straight to the point and loaded with great information. Thanks.
@@MrTTdawgTT Watch my tutorials. The first one discusses the pattern.

Can I try them? They're marvellous.
Excellent work sir.
Tiene bastante trabajo mi amigo . Felicifades . Eres muy bueno en lo que hases . Cuanto cuestan esas sandalias y disculpa . Graciad por enseñarnos tan bonita lavor
Thank you!
Wow! That's a lot of detailing and work. You're Awesome! Praise God!
Нормально. Только при ходьбе, между пальцев шов будет постоянно кожу натирать.
Необходимо шов планки делать спереди.
И внутреннюю планку чуть короче мм на 5 .
You’re doing a wonderful job, very efficient... I have ocd. I say that to say, just as u said, “don’t fall asleep” I was thinking... maaaan this is relaxing! Thank you for sharing!
I have ocd too where are you from
GOOD LUCK
I want you to came to Namibia giving classes about it
Sounds like fun!
Those are some bad ass flops!!
Only one way to find out!
Everyone starts somewhere. Give it a try if you haven't already.
How do you want to gain experience without starting up?. Just find some cheap material and make your best! good luck
Thank you.
They look amazing, how do they feel?
Mike Builds Really nice. As nice as they look! (to me anyway)
Well then they must feel superb because they look like you've been working in the shoe business for decades

Good times! Yeah, I'm definitely not a shoe maker, I have learned. Lol
@@wornwizard ya did nice work on those flip flops.....Much easier with hand crank sole cutter and a row of motorized sanding/polishing drums.... ;o)
Still have a few small trays of clinch nails and various brass rivets.....Also, funky solid brass belt buckles.....Have debated whether to make up a bunch of long, blank belts with 50 yr old buckles attached for people to finish any way they want....Probably sell on Etsy.....Don't need $$ and haven't been inspired yet.....Have made over 100 leather helmet shields (about 50 with wood, copper, brass plaques) for retired fire family but ran out of steam a few years ago....(was a fireman for 25 yrs, retired 16 yrs ago).....
It is beautiful friend I would love to work with leather to make a boot. Greetings from Mexico
Lalo Diaz awesome tutorial
Lalo Diaz =)
Love these. Absolutely gorgeous! Feel inspired now! Thank you.
Start making them cause by the time you get done your flaps will be wore out
Do you have a pattern for these? They're awesome!
Very well !!! Nice Work !!! Nice Filip !!!
That was awesome. You are a true craftsman. All hand made and sewn. The only machine was the belt sander. Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful workmanship ... And being leather shouldn't smell either . 😀😁🤣
Hey, love this video! Do you not make these in your shop anymore??
I don't. I've moved on to other projects!
@@wornwizard ah man... Best wishes on your new project!
I would wear the HELL out of these things!
Guess you could try. They probably last a lifetime. Craftsmanship A+ 😍
