I went with the Poynting XPOL-1 and a Netgear M1. A few reviews I saw rated it better than the Mimo. Very happy with it so far.. 👍

I originally had the Puck which looks aphetically neater but like you it didn’t perform how I wanted it to. (I think your extending puck antenna was a brilliant idea!) …. So anyway after a one year trial I changed it for the Poynting X-Pol omni directional antenna with a Netgear Nighthawk Mk2 Router with EE unlimited. I followed Gadget Johns experiences with his various trials and up to now this new set-upset up has performed to above expectations … I used to have a Smarty sim, which as you point out is a more cost effective way, however its signal base didn’t always work in areas I travelled to. Perhaps now it may just be worth another go as things have improved with the system I’ve got fitted 👍🍻

I'm still playing with the puck antenna, hopefully we can make some improvements to it

Thanks for the content sir. The nice thing about these new devices is that the manufacturers and service providers can seamlessly update the device's operating system and reflash the firmware's chip set without you the user connecting another device with an expensive special cable and being guided by a service tech over a separate phone.
This arrangement should last you about 12 to 18 months before the roll-out of the new 5G Advanced standard. Then you'll be buying all new devices because your existing devices cannot exploit all the features of the AI features embedded.
Start your 5G Advanced fund now so you can afford to order the new stuff right away because like all new upgrades to LTE sell out fast and the waiting list long.😄

Electronics and mobile comms are definitely a moving target, always changing, always improving we just need to make the best informed choices that work for us, I'm happy with what I have starlink have push what is expected I think we will see major advances in this area very soon with competitors hot on the heals of Mr Musk

In Australia. We still have our original, previously public owned phone / internet provider, which other ph co's can't access 100%. My provider is the only other 1 with 100% coverage. I've been planning to buy a WiFi setup from the original co' & drastically decrease the costs of my service. Ph service is now $230 but can last 12 months. WiFi is a small addition per month but won't use any Data from the phone, if in range. Another Genius I found on a Vanlife fb group told me about that.

For the past 18mth I've just been using my phone to tether. Two days ago I fitted a Kuma LTE kit which is similar to what you've just fitted. I did a speed test before and after and it doubled with a proper dedicated router.

Great video mate. I tested my home 5g from 3 in my van. I used a 12v mod for it, and it's perfect. Great connectivity, mint WiFi. Luckily, my Vans is not metal, just wood and fibreglass. There is no signal block at all.

You kept saying your old system didn’t do what you wanted it to do but you confirm exactly what you need the kit to do. How many phones, laptops etc do you use at the same time ? I am still using the Hawuei router 2 phones a IPad and occasionally a laptop without any slowing down of signal and the router states up to 10 items can connect.

It's more to do with device needing reset every couple of weeks, it would just stop working after resetting it would work for a couple of weeks then stop again

Good upgrade with the poynting aerial, but the router is a down grade in my opinion, should of stuck with the mifi or got one of these zte mu5001 for the same sort of money cheers

The Teltonika router has been flawless, plug in and forget about it! The Huawei router was a absolute nightmare. The fact the antenna connection broke was the final straw for me

I couldn't agree more I work in the telecoms industry and use the internet (mobile) on a daily basis and the speeds are fine don't get me wrong star link is a great product but the price is to high when you can work with 4G/5G Great video fella as always

We use a lot of comms equipment for remote management and reporting of systems
As a country, we have a lot of money invested in the infrastructure, so why pay over the odd for something when what we have with the right gear can deliver a quality connection

a very interesting video Sam which I've watched whilst also talking to you on my facebook account. Who says us Blokes cant multi-task!🤣 I gotta say how tidy the top of the bus looks. Wish my solar wiring was as neat....... but when we get better weather, that issue with Viv will be sorted. I've decided to brave drilling holes in her roof for the solar cables LOL. As ever, much respect and all the best to you and Lisa and the family. Hopefully by the time Crafty blinders meetup comes round in 2024, Viv will be finished......or will she lol......- Kenny
