  • DISCLAIMER: Alas, neither of us is a comic book reader, and so while we respect and understand that so much of this movie came from the comics, we only have the MCU as the baseline right now, and our reaction is going to reflect that.
Secondly, we want to clarify that what upset us was less about what Marvel chose to do here, and more about how it was done. Making Wanda a villain is not in itself a bad choice, and we both would have enjoyed watching that, but we felt that it wasn’t earned. We felt going from WandaVision to Multiverse was a huge leap for Wanda’s character (particularly if you aren’t a comic book reader), and it bothered us the way a lot of this film was executed, and that there wasn’t more development there. Those are simply our personal feelings, and our genuine first time reactions. We are Marvel fans, and it’s upsets us to dislike an MCU film this much, but we would rather give you our honest interpretation than ever give you something that isn’t authentic.
    Sincerely, Jacqui & Sam

I’m like a year after this video was uploaded so I don’t expect anyone to read this but regarding the problem with Wanda’s evil feeling rushed and there not being a dramatic fall into the darkness, the reason is simply that it wasn’t needed. That is what the darkhold does. It attaches itself to the reader (metaphorically/mentally you could say) and corrupts them. It attached itself to her pain and want for her kids and made her lose regard for anything else. The whole concept of the darkhold is that it darkens whoever has it. She could’ve found the darkhold without the loss of her kids and still become evil because of it. That’s the darkhold’s whole thing

Exactly, I don't understand why people say the Darkhold corrupting her is "lazy" writing or a cop out. I mean the book has lots of useful information but it also has been stated to explicitly corrupt the owner based off their desires. Like, evil book is evil and corrupts. Wanda gets evil book at the end of WandaVision, she becomes corrupted. Why was that so hard for some people to get?

That scene when Xavier tries to pull Wanda from the rubble, that was the Wanda in the Illuminati's universe put away in a tiny corner of her mind, the Wanda who's the Scarlet Witch put her in there while she dream walked in her body, as for the Marvel's Illuminati, well I'm not sad for there deaths (maybe Mr. Fantastic and Professor X). Plus in comic history they've had a history of making questionable choices and screwing up royally, like launching the Hulk into space without his consent, encourage the Skrull empire to plan their secret invasion after they goaded them not to mess with them, getting captured and studied for their shapeshifting research, and finally when multiple earths were going to collide with their earth, they suggest killing them so their world will survive. Not to mention the Scarlet Witch in comics had descended to being a villain due to mental health breakdowns which caused the deaths of Hawkeye, Vision, and Ant-Man, not helped with the heroes choosing to put her in isolation instead of calling a therapist like Doc Samson (super-hero therapist), plus WandaVision had some elements from House of M story basically altered reality where everyone was happy including herself, but it seemed to good to be true and the heroes confronted her. Sorry if I'm ranting but I try to find explanations to help things make sense.

Actually Illuminati was team in marvel comics, but the squad was little bit different:
Iron Man - Of the Avengers
Prof. Charles Xavies - Of the Mutants
Black Bolt - King of Inhumans
    Namor - King of Atlantis
Mr. Fantastic - Of Fantastic Four
and Doctor Strange - Of himself
At somepoint they also approached Black Panther to join them, but he refuses.

And not everything that happened to her was half fair.

  • @baiovarii2180

I think your review shows that how people interpret the ending of WandaVision is crucial to love or hate Wanda's arc. If you think she coped with her grief and was ready to move on, the explanation "the Darkhold corrupts people" is a cop out and her character doesn't make any sense. I thought the same until her conversation with Monica and the post credit scene. For me Wanda didn't showed any remorse that she enslaved a town she just left and I hated that Monica didn't mentioned this in her response. Yes, she created the hex unintentionally but starting with episode 3 she was aware what she was doing. After this she is reading "the book of the damned" and the first thing she hears are her children she just lost. IMO she "accepted" the death of Vision but didn't "accept"the loss of her children and the promise that she could have a family through the darkhold made her snap. I find it telling that she didn't search for a universe that had all four of them together.
Sorry for the long comment but I'm fed up with comments that don't accept that people can view a story differently. At the end it's art and art is divisive. As long as I can follow the reasoning, even if I don't agree, I'm ok with it.

You just pointed out the main weakness of this horrible movie. It would perhaps be a good movie if you as the audience yourself fill in all the many story holes that Sam Raimi and Michael Waldron hadn't the competence to include. Sam Raimi makes the same movie all the time so he was obviously the wrong director for this movie. And Michael Waldron has shown with this movie and Loki that he can't write good dialogue how hard he tries. Sam Raimi chooses effect over emotion so he never really takes anything seriously. He just runs between story plot and story plot never staying enough to give the scenes any weight. Compare how they did the introduction to Echo in Hawkeye which made you interested in her after just a couple of minutes with the awful presentation of America Chavez who happened to send her mothers to another multiverse but directed with such a distance that you just, "yeah whatever".

?? what do you mean?? lmao wandavision was clearly a redemption arc origin story, not a villain one. she was already the antagonist from the very first episode (tho we didn't know it yet) and then she wasn't. kinda stupid how she'd realize what she was doing was wrong and then went back to try and get the kids SHE let go when she could've just not let them go in the first place? and if you have to read between the lines and make connections for yourself since the movie barely bothered to actually explore her corruption then its not a good movie. it was stated countless times that she's simply corrupted or "too far gone" and that's it. did she enslave an entire town with intention once she realized? yes. but how else could remorse be remorse if you don't do something to be remorseful for?? we all know she did evil stuff. but she clearly changed in the end, brought the hex down by her own accords, and quite explicitly said "im sorry for all the pain i caused". her becoming a villain again right after was nonsensical and jarring, and even with the darkhold corruption storyline - that storyline itself wasn't even done right and even if it was, i would think we were already past the point of using fleshed out characters, especially female ones, as plot devices conveniently controlled/corrupted by some evil artifact just so they can be the catalyst of events.

@@buzzcutseason142 a common complaint i’ve seen is about how the darkhold corrupting her was lazy writing and destroyed her character but the people who keep saying that obviously didn’t fully comprehend wandavision OR what the darkhold is and how it works. these movies shouldn’t have to spoon feed every little detail to the audience, THAT would be lazy writing… and at this point, y’all should know that some of these shows/movies are required watching in order to fully comprehend what’s going on. Wanda accepted the loss of *Vision* , not her kids and that then became the core of the darkhold’s delusions. Next time, make sure you’re up to date on mcu lore and that you’re actually paying attention when you watch cause clearly you’ve either missed the point or just didn’t get it.

Pretty much everyone sees what they're trying to do. The point is that what they're trying to do was a horrible idea. The problem is there was NOTHING that led from Wandavision Wanda to this crap. Wandavision ended with Wanda realizing what she was doing was hurting people and sacrificed her children and Vision for the greater good. They showed her being remorseful and wracked with guilt, followed by 5 seconds of her in isolation reading the dark hold. Then suddenly she's hunting a child through the multiverse, destroying countless worlds and we're supposed to just accept it? Not showing that transition does a disservice to Wanda and her entire character arc. It's garbage.

Guys the Illuminati are a Marvel team made originally by Professor X, Black Panther, Black Bolt, Namor, Mr Fantastic and Ironman, who discuss the most important decissions regarding the universe, most of them being morally grey, by focusing on a "greater good".
2nd, If you read the source material, Wanda was always a delusional character, who is a powerhouse with an unstable personality, to the point of literally altering reality extinguishing the mutants, this is who Wanda is, an unstable powerhouse, and a BIG missconception, Professor X is trying to free the Wanda from his universe because she is trapped in her mind due to the main Wanda possesing her, the Wanda that you see there is the one who actually has her kids, not the one from the main universe, and no, nobody expects you to be OK with what Wanda is doing, and the reason why her family is so important is because of everything she lost, from Pietro to Vision, to then her kids, Agatha herself told her that opening the Darkhold will corrupt her, and she did it anyway, that is the point, Strange is a hero, Wanda is not, she never was meant to be one, unlike someone like Ms Marvel or Black Widow, Wasp, or any female hero, Wanda is not a heroic character.

I don't think 90% of fans would recognize her, although that might come down to how you define "fans", and I'll have to question how "well known" her character is. She was first introduced in 2011, her character in the comics is more recent than the first 5 films in the MCU. My own knowledge of the comics is somewhat outdated, as I haven't really read any comics since the Amazing Spider-Man "ended" in 2013, but I had never heard of America Chavez until this movie, and had almost the same reaction as Jacqui and Sam.

The minotaur is from the comics and named "Rintrah". All the black accents are specifically the influence of the Darkhold on her as you'll notice the same going on with the other versions of Dr. Strange that used it. America Chavez has two moms in the comics as well. "The Illuminati" exists in the comics and for the 616 comics universe originally consisted of Dr. Strange, Professor X, Namor the Sub-Mariner, Mr. Fantastic, Black Panther (T'Challa), Black Bolt, and Iron Man. They formed to try and coordinate their various teams/factions against things that threatened the entire world and a little bit beyond. What's amusing though is that due to various egos (Iron Man, Dr. Strange, and Namor in particular), they couldn't ever agree except once and after which, Black Panther promptly quit. John Krasinski has been a huge fan cast for MCU Mr. Fantastic pretty much ever since he lost out to Chris Evans for Captain America so that's the other significance. So Wanda was never trapped in her own mind. She was corrupted by the Darkhold but it was still her. Our Wanda (616-Wanda) "dreamwalked" (one of the spells from the Darkhold) to possess the body of 838-Wanda and 838-Wanda was the one that Professor X talked to mentally. It wasn't some trapped version of the "good" side of our Wanda. When 616-Wanda destroyed the Darkhold Citadel, there was no other trapped personality within her mind. Don't get me wrong, I get your criticisms and I agree with quite a few of them. Sam had it right with the part about the mental manipulation tactic as that is exactly what the Darkhold was doing to her. I think part of the problem though is that the abruptness was so jarring that it was easy to miss that the Darkhold is Just That Bad. Reading even a single page is a Very Bad Thing, and we saw her flipping through the pages at the end of WandaVision. Using the spells from it is even worse than that. So reading/using the Darkhold isn't a downward spiral, it's riding Captain America's shield with grease on the bottom down a nearly vertical snow hill and even as someone that understands that, I do think they could have done a better job explaining it. I did enjoy the movie, particularly the Illuminati cameos knowing as much comic history as I do, but it was definitely very tropey. Oh and Charlize Theron was playing Clea, who is related to Dormammu in the comics and at one point is Dr. Strange's wife. They were headed into the Dark Dimension from the 1st movie.

Sam’s hands were all over this movie and rightly so. The writer wrote the movie to fit his style. Also the director of the first movie was known for horror too which I didn’t know. They were always gonna do a horror styled sequel to Doctor Strange. It might even get darker in the future. Plus the Illuminati is source material from the comics which is probably something these two don’t know.

Like I've said a bunch, one of the things I wish more people knew going in was who Sam Raimi is and his style because a lot of complaints levied against this film boil down to whether or not you understand his approach to filmmaking. It's not for everyone, but like a lot of the great filmmakers, it truly helps the experience if you know what you're getting into. Marvel gets criticized a lot for being too safe so they've taken a chance by bringing on more auteurs and filmmakers with unique sensibilities.

Yeah sure its the audience's own fault if they didn't like it. Sam Raimi is a superbad director who doesn't take anything seriously Kevin Feige made a huge mistake hiring him and rehiring Michael Waldron. It was a really sloppy movie. It was a character assassination of Wanda Maximof. Poor Elizabeth Olsen who still delivered it all. Badly directed badly written, stupid story plots, really a sloppy movie. Sure this is a movie for Sam Raimis fan boys who is satisfied with som campy jokes and som campy non-jokes and some callback to movies they've already seen, but I don't think that is the limited audience Marvel wanted for this movie. Being a lousy director doesn't mean you're an auteur.

@@Zombie_Trooper Sure as I've written on some other comment, case in point compare the really excellent presentation of Echo in Hawkeye, with the sloppy presentation of America Chavez. You are instantly interested in the character of Echo but a potential really big emotional development for America was just glossed over and also in a memory bank that they just happen to step on on the street, that is sloppy writing and directing for you. Raimi seems to ruin every scene that has a potential for some emotional depth with a campy joke which proves he doesn't take his own movies seriously (I will probably need to explain here for you that taking a movie seriously doesn't mean that it can't be funny). Another Strange wants to kill America. Wanda has turned evil bam, we introduce Reed Richards, we kill Reed Richards, we introduce Captain Carter, we kill Captain Carter, we introduce Professor Xavier, we kill Professor Xavier, on to the next thing, Raimi is like a kid in the candy store running around licking on as many different candies as possible not really appreciating any of them. There were so many opportunities lost for developing the characters of both Steven Strange and Wanda Maximof but in the end all we got were some campy jokes. Good for you if you are satisfied with that, you are lucky!

@@j.israelsson You do realize you neutralize your entire point by assuming that I'm some fanboy because I appreciate Sam Raimi...right? If you came to me willing to talk shop I'd gladly entertain it but you're obviously not worth the time, kid.
You're a dime a dozen "film bro". Your entire opinion is predicated on what your 10th grade teacher told you constitutes good story so you become willfully ignorant of approach, style, and all the other aspects of film theory that set the art form apart. Once again, you can have these criticisms, frankly I can agree with some of them, but discounting the entire product because this film didn't do exactly what another film did? Go read up on film theory, go understand FUNCTION and how characters like Reed DO NOT need to be fleshed out to such a degree. The Illuminati aren't the focus and should not pull away from everything to re-establish things, that's wasted time, that's basic film theory. Wanda's entire arc is understated and conveyed through performance, she didn't need to chew the scenery with more expositioning dumping to make her points known.
And if you need a litmus test on my initial point watch Natalie Golds reaction. The moment she realizes it's a Raimi film her entire demeanor changes because it clicked why the film plays like it does. Knowing the Filmmaker and their approach can definitely make or break an experience for someone. Same was true for DePalma, Malick, Lynch, Hitch, Jarmusch and so forth.

I would argue that all the set up we need for Wanda is peppered throughout the MCU regardless of the comic books: Wanda started in Age of Ultron as a misguided villain bent on revenge, she helped create Ultron who destroyed her own city! Both Tony and her are duplicitous here. In Civil War her attempt to save lives at the beginning unintentionally killed Wakandans. Obviously that was a mistake but you don’t easily get over that! During Infinity War she was forced to kill Vision and it meant nothing, that grief eventually led her to snap and take 3000 people hostage. At the end of that journey she’s wrestling with all her loss but she doesn’t truly repent for a serious crime! Then she gets her hands on the Darkhold which unlocks her full potential but at the cost of her soul. What I’m saying is I don’t see this as a Daenerys Season 8 situation the character is inherently conflicted! I still see her as redeemable. If Loki and Bucky can come back from killing hundreds why not Wanda?

@@terminatrix92 I think very few people have a problem with Wanda going villain. The problem is that the Darkhold was not appropriately set-up before this movie and not explained enough in this movie to make this development feel earned. In WandaVision, it was literally just a book that we knew nothing about. If they had showed us Agatha reading the book in episode 8 of WandaVision and had showed us how she got corrupted by it, then we could have been like "Oh shit" when Wanda opened it. But they didn't do that.
Then in this movie, we get told "Oh yeah it corrupts people. Also, has some demonic connection" and that is *all* we get for this supposedly super powerful, super important book. This should have been a longer-arcing story, but they threw it away in some exposition lines and that's it. The world-building/lore for the magic/demons/witchcraft stuff was practically not there, and the movie as a whole suffered for it.
In general, I feel very disappointed by this movie. The complexity and depth was just not there for any of the characters. Wanda, America, even Strange... none of them had any earned character development.

36:05 I think one of the things this movie did a poor job of connecting was how much the Darkhold corrupts Wanda. When you're talking about how she got over the fact that she couldn't have her kids in Wandavision but changes her mind in this movie its because she learns through the Darkhold that she can still be with her kids in another universe and how the Darkhold takes that strong emotion and basically overcharges it by 2000% which is why this quest of hers consumes all her thoughts and efforts. When you view it from that lens it all makes sense, but again, they didn't do a very good job of connecting that information in the movie here. Rather you would only understand this by reading between the lines, so I see alot of reactors who are confused or don't understand why Wanda did a full 360.

Season eight of Game Of Thrones was excellent, it just should have played out more slowly and largely over the non-existent ninth and tenth seasons. Daenerys was always going to go down that road, those idiots Weiss and Benioff just plowed through the whole third act of the story so they could go play with Star Wars (from which they were quickly released due to their failure to stick the landing on G.O.T.) . I feel like Wanda's arc is more fully earned. She lost everything over and over and the Darkhold offered to give it all back, making her an easy mark for its power.
Also, I just love her in Full-Power Kick-Ass Bitch Mode. 👍😍

First off, the meaning of the third eye is not evil. It often represents perception and a state of enlightenment. In the comics, Doctor Strange does indeed have a third eye, which is often depicted as coming from the Eye of Agamotto (which does not contain the Time Stone). It has many different uses, which I would suggest you look up. Secondly, with regard to Wanda’s story arc, it’s possible that some of your issues with the film stem from your lack of familiarity with the characters in terms of their history in the comics. In any case, while I agree with your assessment of Game of Thrones S8, there are sufficient clues regarding her turn to evil, such that it should not be surprising. The Darkhold corrupts everything and everyone it touches.” At the end of Wandavision, she is studying the Darkhold. You’re supposed to realize that some time has passed between those events and the events of the movie. You don’t just pick up the Book of the Damned (a magical artifact) and go through it overnight, particularly if you have NO magical training. Wanda had no formal training in the use of her powers, which in the MCU are not mystical in nature. She’s basically self-taught. Doctor Strange would be able to use it right away because of his expertise and extensive training in Kamar-Taj. Anyway, my general point is that there are a number of things that you evidently didn’t understand about what was happening.

I was an MCU SUPERFAN before this came out. Every film up until Endgame I either loved, or LOVED (yes, even Thor 2). Had plans for an Avengers tattoo. This movie? THIS MOVIE??? It single-handedly ended my fandom. I haven’t been back to a theater to see an MCU film since. Worse yet, it tainted WandaVision (the BEST MCU project), thus probably making it not my most hated MCU film, but my most hated movie ever. EVER!!!

some of your commentary is funny because it seems like you know enough about Wanda/marvel but your still not getting it. I agree, Wanda should’ve never been the villain in this movie. they wanted her to be a villain in avengers 5, sadly due to covid, the director was able to change that. He wanted Wanda to be the villain in his story and basically said that “he wasn’t gonna let another marvel movie rob him from having an evil Wanda in HIS movie.” thus the bad writing because HE REWROTE THE ENTIRE MOVIE BECAUSE OF IT💆🏽💆🏽🤦🏽 But we got what we got and it could’ve been worse. I agree on the sense that they should’ve done something with Wanda in wandavision since we basically were left on a cliff hanger but Wanda isn’t dead. Agatha said the her power is on autopilot and from what we seen in this movie, allows her to protect her self unknowingly. Wanda will be back to finish her story and this isn’t to far from the comics. Also the dark hood doesn’t turn people into zombies. yes the black finger tips are to show the user being corrupt but Agatha used the dark hold for thousands of years and was never harmed by it. same for Wanda, we aren’t going to see zombie Wanda in this universe. In the comics Wanda has died and came back, she’s done terrible things to get her kids back, so this isn’t far from a reach like y’all are acting.

Apologist! You don't get it. It's not the fact that Wanda did terrible things, it was the fact that it was sloppy writing and directing.

    • @xzoar2812
      @xzoar2812 2 года назад

@@j.israelsson no and i said that. I even said why it is terrible writing. they should’ve went with their original concept of Wanda actually helping strange and being a good person in the film. or did you just choose not to read that part? But like i said the writing isn’t to far from what happens in house of M or in wanda’s general arch. Wanda literally going crazy due to losing everything and searches how to get her kids back. so people freaking out like how these people did is so hilarious, because in the comics Wanda doing this, isn’t actually far fetch. that’s why i said they don’t know enough about marvel to actually be happy that we at least got a decent plot not a good plot. A decent one. again it could’ve been worse.

I like this movie. Granted, it pretty much redo or undone Wandavision. In Wandavision, she was unintentionally evil, but in this movie, she is totally evil even though she realized her error in at the end of Wandavision. And at the end of this movie, she repented again? But visually, and action wise the movie was fun. The parts were better than the whole.

You shouldn't have to read comics to understand a character IN A MOVIE ITS A MOVIE Wanda as a character In the MCU is inconsistent the whole point of Wandavidion was her dealing with that grief and learning she had to accept the fact she couldn't be with her kids but in this movie she reads a book and gets the most ultimate plot armor ever and uses her evil doing to Brutally kill people and before you go the Darkhold corrupted her it didn't take over her body it put the idea in her head that she could have her kids back everything else she did was free will she had full control over her actions stop capping for her.

  • @loganmooney9867

This is earned for Wanda. We saw how sad she was after she had to kill vision and watch him die again in infinity war. We saw how angry she was about visions death in endgame when she confronts Thanos. In WandaVision she takes over a town and recreates Vision and creates her boys. She then has to essentially kill Vision again and kill her kids. Then she gets her hands on the darkhold which corrupts her on top of everything else. Also scarlet witch and quick silver in the comics are the kids of Magneto. They start off evil and become more anti hero characters. Because Disney didn’t have the rights to x men when they introduced them is why they killed off quick silver in age of ultron. Also why they are going this route. She’s suppose to be evil but they didn’t have the link to x men and Magneto to get her there. Sorry big comic book fan.

I thought it was an interesting movie that could have been done better. I agree with you on how quickly Wanda spiralled into being “evil”. And I love how you compared it to season 8 of game of thrones. It does have that exact same kind of feeling. Like there were hints that things would develop this way but we just need some more time to see it fleshed out before going full on Burn it all down! Overall I don’t think it was awful but I appreciated hearing your thoughts on it.

Not gonna lie i loved the movie, would have preferred the more horror version based on the original script with Scott Derrickson. But I loved this reaction and understand the criticism. Btw wanda was not trapped in her own mind. That version was the 838 wanda she was possessing.

Good job Sam, holding up the post commentary.
Despite what character arcs they have in the comic universes, just looking at the Marvel universe arc, I also feel this is not a very good story telling. Plots demand characters to act, instead of characters pushing the story forward. This is especially troublesome for a "Doctor Strange" movie. Doctor Strange in this movie is very passive and not having much agency. Movie plots pushing Wanda's, and in term dragging Doctor Strange along.
My personally theory of how we got this, is that the script had been heavily rewritten, probably with a draft before WandaVision, and was forced to redact and increase the part for Wanda's arc due to the success of WandaVision. The original plan might be there really is a demonic villain (say like Mephisto from the comic), chasing America and creating destruction across multiverses, and finally reach this universe's Doctor Strange and enlist the help of Wanda, but Wanda becomes under control or is manipulated by the demon, so Doctor Strange have to run to several multiverses, and the demon just keep jumping to different Wanda. And finally, due to Wanda's sacrifice, Doctor Strange is able to defeat the demon. This would be a pretty standard superhero movie arc and a "Doctor Strange" script (notice that in this script, Wanda can be replaced by any side character, and it would still hold). But with Elizabeth Olson's talent and WandaVision success, somewhere along the way they just merge and simplify the plot to put Wanda in the center stage as the villain and wish to attract more viewers. And in a sense, this strategy actually worked to a degree, but the result is, this becomes a fairly Wanda centric Doctor Strange movie, with subpar plots and arcs for both of them.

  • @kikimariposa

Leaving aside the reviewers' misunderstanding about 838-Wanda being possessed by 616-Wanda (instead of 616 following Strange & America to that universe)... Something I noticed recently: Wilson Fisk in "Into the Spider-Verse" was trying the same thing (stealing an alternate version of his family) and there was no question that he was the villain there. But Wanda's grief kept us hoping for her, instead of just going 'nope'. It's a villainous thing to do, no matter what the gender of the person proposing the idea. My problem with this movie is that it used Wanda as a plot device, or it approached it as: Wanda is too powerful, let's take her out of the equation. (They're gonna regret that when Kang comes calling...) Which. Why? Gah. That whole part of the movie was just-- not well done. Not well explained. Leaves out White Vision floating around out there somewhere. Took some cheap and easy ways out that could have been done in the first 5 minutes, really., for all the character growth that America and Wanda were allowed. ... Okay this is long, suffice it to say: while I enjoyed bits of this movie, I hated the end unless they bring Wanda backa again, somehow.

Absolutely agree with you that this wasn't an earned development for Wanda. It was rushed as hell with sloppy logic. There were so many ways they could have arrived at this level of villainy for Wanda while still making sense and having build-up. But no, who needs good writing when you can have ~ horror.

In the comics she erase all mutants just by saying no more mutants so that's something I would like to see in the mcu at some point. The universe Strange and America end up is the most comic book accurate universe we have ever seen. Also remember Wanda and now Dr strange have been corrupted by the book.

The thing about Wanda is she's almost always been the villain with exceptions for Ultron, who used her. and Thanos, who killed her husband. I get the basis for it, she's had a pretty shit life since childhood, but she's made the choice to do bad for selfish reasons. Her argument that Strange breaks rules and is the hero and that she does it and she's the villain is flawed. He broke the rules by giving Thanos the time stone because that was part of the one way they could (eventually) win. He bargained Tony's life for the stone, which Thanos was about to take anyway. If Thanos had killed Stark he'd have been dead, not snapped, and he couldn't have made his sacrifice to ultimately end Thanos in Endgame. Strange broke the rules to save half the universe. Wanda enslaved an entire town to give her back the ghost of her husband. Selfish vs selfless. Wanda was the villain even before the Darkhold corrupted her and she became a mass murderer. And I sympathize, I have 2 redhead daughters who love their redhead heroes, too.

So, someone probably wrote this already. Wanda is not possessed by the scarlet witch, scarlet witch is just a name-an alias for a witch who has chaos magic. 616 Wanda isn’t possessed she’s just corrupt by the darkhold. Earth 838 Wanda (With the children) was possessed by 616 Wanda (scarlet witch) Charles attempted to free 838 Wanda from 616 Wanda.

Geez, I didn't realize there were so many rabid Marvel fans 😅 sorry your comment section got invaded! I thoroughly enjoyed your reaction and insights as always. Personally I don't mind Wanda becoming a villain but it did feel rushed and jarring after the end of the Wandavision series, and I felt none of the movies prior really properly set up her turn to the dark side since she always seemed like a kind and caring character. I watched a video explaining how they could have done the arc better, by keeping her as a neutral character and not having her join the Avengers with her only close relationships ever being her brother and Vision, meaning their losses really push her over the edge and isolate her. That would have made her villain transformation feel a lot more natural imo.
PS: As someone who watched Agents of Shield, it was really cool to see the Darkhold again! I'm still holding out hope that we'll see AOS characters in the MCU
