Hey, friends! If you are confused between using this method or using "Shift Edge" or "Decontaminate Colors" inside Select & Mask, know that all of them are specific to different situations. This technique is important when you want to selectively remove halos fast only from certain areas and not the whole image. It can also be used on the entire image if it lacks hair or fur. Hope it helps! Thanks again, and keep creating ❤️
Learned this from PTC and JR also explained it very well but there's something about how Unmesh explain things, its more newbie friendly and very easy to understand... Thank you PiXimperfect and PTC my favorite PS teachers...
Hello and thank you for this tutorial. I am familiar with this method and have found that it works VERY well indeed without actually needing to make the selection. I don't usually comment on here but have enjoyed immensely, the content you post, for quite some time. Thank you so much for everything you teach us, it really is much appreciated.
@@AdmoreMethod Hello :) Yes that was what I was meaning. You can apply the 'minimum' filter without having to tell Photoshop where you need the halo removed. It simply removes any and all of them. You can then refine the result everso simply by painting black or white on the mask in the normal way.
That's a good way of doing it. I was taught another way, so basically subject select then once that's done, you want to make a mask with that then go to filter>other>minimum and doing like 0-1px adjustment to your liking. Hope that helps as another way to do it! Keep up the amazing work Unmesh!!! 🙂
Anyone remember the Microsoft Clip assistant ? I want my Adobe photoshop to come with a mini Unmesh on the side. Every single damn time I am lost, frustrated, or want to break my keyboard because of something not working in PS, I type in "How do I remove the white halo?" My mini Unmesh would guide me in the right path in his soothing and calm voice in a very easy manner .... You are so awesome ma man ...
Quick, easy, and to the point, just as always. I love your videos so much! I always recommending your videos to people. You have been the best teacher on youtube I have found over the years. Keep up the great content, you are amazing!
Since you already have a mask around her, you can also just use the layer styles and apply an inner glow, which you make black or any dark color that best fits. You can also control radius and smoothness. Then split the layer-style to a separate layer, apply a mask and then only mask it in where you want.
This is great tip, the only thing I'd add is that some of the leftover brightness is often the light hitting the subject rather than the old background, so you don't want to lose the edges of the actual figure. (I'll typically hit those with, of course, a curves adjustment.) Amazing video as always.
Thank you so much for all that you do. I have been a Photoshop user for many years and yet you still surprise me with little tips and tricks I didn't know existed.
@@notmyname8527 They didn't create the maximum filter, dude. It's a standard image processing technique, decades old. They didn't invent Gaussian blur either.
great, thank you for explaining those filters! one thing I would say though, in this particular case you can get rid of the halos by playing with the options in "select and mask"
Well, thats one will be useful. I did work with minimum and maximum filters but didnt thing to use it in this way to change mask localy. Thanks for this one. Would love to see more quick mask creating and automation or scripting.
Yeah! Indeed! I learnt this technique quite a while ago, when I was scrolling through the Shorts Section! I think it was PTC (Photoshop Training Channel) not sure, but yup! Awesome trick!
Interesting technique. I have always found it quite easy to just use the defringe feature. Layer/Matting/Defringe. This works with a cutout image not with a layer mask. So you will need to apply the layer mask to the layer before applying defringe
Nicee. I usually just select the outline and then go to select modify and contract the image by around 1 or so. Course that is if you have white around the whole image. But this is a cool method to know for certain situations.

Did I just watched a Piximperfect video which doesn't have Curves in it?
Great video btw!
next video: "How to feather and minimum using curves"
I’ve taken soooo many composite courses, and NONE have talked about this. They do the tedious masking.
Well done. And thank you thank you
Love these shorter videos, quick bites of education for sure!
I just need to remember to start putting these tips into practice instead of just enjoying the video. Excellent tip!!
SO there are others like me... :P
Many times halo's takes much time to get them out.
This method helped me a lot & saves much time.
Love you.
Thanks Sir ji.
Fantastic channel! We use your tutorials all of the time!
Was sceptical but just tried this on an image of a guy with afro hair, and it worked a treat! Thank you.

“Without having to make the selection.” Do you mean, it’ll do the whole subject at once if you just click on it…?

I've been plagued by this issue before so I really appreciate this video/tip. Thank you, keep up the great work!
Brilliant - and no 10 minute introduction! Thanks.
WOW! That is a huge time saver. It's a lot of work doing this by hand, always afraid of eating too much into the subject. That is awesome!
another great tip thanks man. no more wasting time trying to manually erase those lines
