@@stormthrush37 To be fair, the Locust was meant to scout and not fight. Its loadout is for anti-infantry self defense, and maybe to hurt vehicles if need be. It was never meant to go toe to toe with the likes of a Warhawk with 4 ER PPCs and win.

And this… this is even better. Damnit, algorithm, why are you making me go back to this game….
I went with this a few weeks ago just to see if you could get enough cooldown and duration reductions to make the XPulse almost a constant beam weapon. I'm entirely useless with lights but this is an easy 500+ damage per match mech.
If you want a constant beam, the new Jenner from the loyalty rewards this year looks like it could fit the bill. It has a single energy hardpoint and the quirks increase laser duration by 20%, but comes with 50% energy cooldown and 49.9% laser cooldown, so 99.9% laser cooldown for 20% longer duration. I'm not sure if it will be scarier with a LXPL or Binary...
@@Dreznin And true to form it'll probably have a heat reduction as well just to make it more pay-to-win. A binary would be higher DPS but then you've got a spread issue. LXPL would be lower DPS but you could manage the shots better...both would have same heat per second and rack up heat in a small mech quite quickly.
The Locust is so fun to zoom around in. Always annoys the lance, but they never seem to mind the intel. Have one of the ones with duel anti-missile systems myself, that I managed to push two Light PPCs and a Tag inside, but my speed suffered a bit too much. Was a dang good harraser as long as I didn't get hunted by anything faster, though.
Haven't played MWO in years, but back when I did the Locust was one of my favorite chassis, if not the top. Fast, agile, small, and often underestimated.
Great vid. A skill overview would be very nice for those of us who are new to the game. Apart from speed, range and the heat skills are there any movement skills that are needed?
Most exciting light play I've seen since pre-clan era where I've seen Edmeister Jenner got over 1000 dmg. And in that time with 3sl + 3 ml it was really tough.
something i noticed about this game that i've never seen mentioned before is the yellow light in the mech cockpit. it flashes whenever an enemy targets you so once you start seeing yellow flashes as a light mech you know it's time to chill.
this is the exact reason why i just came for a short visit in this game after i quit it some years ago: there are no small weapon ports for small mechs, no medium for med and no large for assaults. lights mechs do an insane amount of damage. next shit point: group drops and single drops are still in one game. u cant do nothing with 12 randoms vs 4 organized good player in teamspeak. nothing. u get stomped. this game COULD be good, but these two factors destroyed it for me. good bye.
wow finaly someone is using the build i use in my locust, its fun isnt it? because its so stupid you cant expect to do good so if u fail miserably u arent disapointed but if u do amazing which this build consistantly does. it feels incredible because why the heck is it so good? 1 gun??? 2.4 dmg per shot??? what part of this build says "ah yes, i can carry a 6 v 2 ez" but it does its so fun
How is...Ok I'm new to the game, but how do you set this up as a clan mech with double heat sinks in your build..? I can only find it as an IS mech..??
Back in my day we had a battery of med lasers on our locusts. And one xl engine for the lance to share! None of these silly skill trees and purple L pulse lasers that fire like a machine gun!
Good coms, good movement, crazy stare down build in a light mech...you tapped tapped on everyone's shoulder and were ignored. Missiles? There's a rock there. I have more MWO to watch
Impressive, though would have been like 1500 Dmg with a real weapon, main problem with getting more damage would just be that a real weapon would kill too quickly... X Pulse are so much disappoint.
This was some fantastic piloting good job! A little off topic here but I noticed you where toying with some gausszillas. I been recently running this mech to get the pass rewards and good lord that thing is trash! I hate it!
I just tried this build a couple of days ago, but without nearly as much success. I wonder why? LOL! This build is like a long range tickle torture that slowly removes armor. It's almost more annoying than effective but I'm here for it. HAH! And that was an AMAZING ass match, for real.

Almost as if someone planned it that way.. :P

Back in the day I used to run a raven with three large pulse lasers. Same vibes.
