    What's the biggest budget you worked with? 💰💰💰

    • @JoyOfSuicide
      @JoyOfSuicide 5 лет назад +9

      in italy we work in a different way. I like to call it "Italian way". We work without money and with friends who can help us to shot our shortmovie or anything else we're trying to make. Sometimes I'm the director, writer and also the producer, someone else is the DOP and also the operator too!
      This is the "Italian Way", last time we shot a shortmovie (ten pages) in only eight hours just because the producer wasn't organized!!! We done it! And it's a good shortmovie, I'd like to show you. The budget of this project was just 1500 euros; I think it's 1700 dollars...

      Zero. Currently working on my first. I studied improv at Second City in Chicago (actually I had to drive 6 hours there and 6 hours back every week but I did it) then I got rid of all my stuff, got a one way ticket to New York and got straight into a homeless shelter. Totally worth it to pursue my dream/goal. I wrote 6 episodes for my sitcom, had to write SUPER TIGHT since I got zero budget. Next month a student director is going to sit down with me and we're going to make this project HAPPEN!!!!!! I'm so EXCITED!!!!!! And thanks to your very HELPFUL as well as ENCOURAGING videos I know I can do this in an EPIC way. I'm STOKED!!!

    This is so great of you guys. You don't always see the legwork when it comes to filmmaking. I'm talking the minutiae. The meetings, the negotiations, the planning, etc. It seems when they show the bts footage for films, we are already on set. Everything is paid for and everyone is ready to work. They don't show this. The pain of trying to make something beautiful while also being beholden to green slips of paper. Thank you. Very educational.

    I'm wondering, for DP these day with phone cameras so damn good, if it's just a proof of concept is there any drawback to just shooting on your phone? Obvs still need a talented shooter and somebody who knows how to light things, but I'd imagine that'd bring the budget down significantly to reuse what you've already got!

    I don't know what will happen in the next episodes yet, but I wonder why the screenwriter and the producer guy can't fill some roles by themselves that don't require a lot of knowledge. Like non-technical cinematographer assistants and maybe even actors? Spending a few days/weeks and preparing shouldn't be too complex.

    how do you expect anyone to be authentic during this process when they know they are in front of the camera? Also, there is an added cost/benefit in that you may be getting a discount from your crew for youtube equity. If you've been on enough sets, you know this is kind of not as authentic as it should be, nice try though. i.e. at $650, you'd be better off hiring a DP who comes with his own RED or whatever, and an AC who is tethered to them who geared up but wants a reel. They are their own gaffer. Done. No rental.

      That's Gorilla Film Making your talking about my guy. This video series is showing us how you make a legitimate production work where cast ,crew, and everyone involved feels comfortable after it's all said and done that's your reputation on the line as a Producer, Actor or Director I wouldn't be comfortable having one guy do it all. Quality is dropped wether you like it or not.
