I added Trophies to Simpsons Hit & Run… and got the Platinum!

- I'm still waiting for a Simpson: Hit and Run Remaster so I can get the Platinum Trophy. But using RetroAchievements is the next best thing.
In this video I play the PS2 classic and by taking inspiration from RetroAchievements, I implemented trophies into the 20 year old game.

Game originally was meant to have 7 different levels but they forced them to release 6 months early, so they just used the first 3 levels and changed them from morning to afternoon or night time.
Ahhh I assumed it was something like that but it’s good to know the actual story!

Just played through this game for the first time this year and really enjoyed it! So much stuff I didn’t know was here as I wasn’t getting 100% but really cool to see it all here, great job! 👏
The best way to get coins is to not break the boxes and vending machines. If you just hit them twice they don’t break then when you restart the level the boxes etc will be full again and you can hit them twice again then just repeat over and over again. The best level to do it with is level three as there is that hidden little room at the krusty Lou studios with around 5 boxes and 3 vending machines.
Yeah I found this when I was googling methods, but sadly I had already got all of them (or at least most of them) when I was 100%’ing it! :(
Definitely something to keep in mind for next time though!
One way I found to earn easy coin was to do the level 1 gambling race. If you know the layout well.

@@PlatinAdam Likely would've been better to use a better bad car as it considers it a harder difficulty & gives more money. The Book burning van is the best vehicle for this as its pretty good compared to other bad vehicles & allows you to build up money the fastest.

Also Crazy Taxi/Road Rage is one of those games that’s always stressed me out haha. I dunno if I’m strong enough to go for the “Platinum”… by all means though go ahead after you’ve done Hit + Run yourself

The Halloween map is my favorite, still have this game for GameCube, and ps2, I bust them out in the winter!

I have just one question to ask you, what emulator did you use? I have a huge backlog of ps2 games I want to play and eventually platinum with RetroArch but the ony supported emulator seems to be pcsx2 which has an annoying input lag.
This was just the PC version bro! Didn’t actually use RetroAchievements officially here. But yeah I would have used PCSX2 so I’m no help. Maybe you need to try messing around with the settings? Hope you get it working!
If you check out @MICHEALKARLIS on here, he did a similar video on Futurama but he actually emulated it, so could be worth asking him!
I'm actually glad this game was never remastered, they'd have removed all of the Apu missions and probably replaced him with new voice Carl or someone else similarly sucky, it's best left as the timeless classic it is

Haha yeah I got lucky but it’s definitely a tough set of missions!
I could beat that mission, but the apu trash mission was impossible for me. I ended up using cheats.

When I was a kid I couldn’t get past the last mission in level 1 so I thought the game would end after level 1

if you plan on watching the simpsons, all the memes and referrence people talk about only go to about season 5. nothing after that is that good. well there is a few here and there but its mostly junk after season 5

I want a remake not a remaster
The Simpsons as a television show is arguably better than this game and I love this game, I almost beat it as a kid but I’d always get sidetracked roaming around.
If I had to recommend episodes, Bart Sells His Soul, Treehouse of Horror V, Cape Feare and Marge vs. the Monorail are some of the most well respected episodes.
Added to the list! Marge vs. the Monorail is probably the one I hear about the most!
My favorite Simpsons episode has to be "King of the Hill" (Not to be confused with Mike Judge's series).
Simply because this episode is Homer's peak as a character, both literally and figuratively. Homer starts working out and agrees to climb up a mountain only because he wants to be a better role model for Bart.
Person who added trophies to a game, and who therefore has the best understanding of said trophies and how to achieve them, gets the platinum trophy. Wow… am I supposed to be impressed? 😮

Of course you achieved platinum after all you modded it to have achievements after all so it's not really an accomplishment

Don't be fooled,most of the stuff on RetroAchievements are a nightmare to complete, PlatinAdam even chose specific achievements because of that.

Hey bud sorry you feel that way. I actually only saw their video after I had recorded mine. I got this idea on my own and then made the video independently (and it’s not really a unique idea, there’s lots of platinum videos on YT and Hit and Run is a really popular PS2 game).
I also feel like our videos are different and come from different perspectives, LiquidWifi speedruns the game and knows everything about it, whereas I’m coming at it as someone who hasn’t played the game in 10+ years and never completed it.
The difference is that Liquid Wifi is really fucking annoying and this guy isn't.
We should just enjoy that some people do the Platinum challenge through RetroAchievements, some of these are bangers
