This is simply an unsurpassed performance of the Ravel immortal masterpiece. Hard to believe that this was achieved by such a fragile woman. Her bass sounds like a full orchestra itself. Bravo!
Did you know that "at the wish of her predecessor Alicia de Larrocha, [Marta] is the current director of the Marshall Academy in Barcelona". Besides Marta's unbelievable musical achievements on her own, this wish places her in a very especial place in music history.
Yes, indeed - WOW! Not since hearing the LP by Samson Francois have I had the thrilling feeling that there are more like three hands at work in the cadenza! Watching Ms Zabaleta suggests she has marvellous hands for a pianist, allied here to complete mastery of the score, an impressive dynamic range, virtuosity in abundance and, importantly, daring - taking risks that succeed and add tremendously to the listener's involvement. When assessing a new recording of the Left Hand Concerto, I often jump from the opening few minutes to the cadenza, where the pianist is completely exposed, but here I was hooked from the beginning and listened all the way through with enormous excitement. Most definitely a great performance from, if this recording is anything to go by, an important pianist with big, flexible hands and musicianship and virtuosity to spare. Absolutely fabulous. Like the audience, I was wowed by this artist and this performance. Thanks!!!
Una de las mejores pianistas de nuestro panorama nacional!! Excepcional concepto del sonido, musicalidad, elegancia, temperamento, .. es decir, un músico en el más amplio sentido de la palabra!!! Bravo Marta Zabaleta!! Zoragarria beti besala, Marta!!! Oso laster gurekin jolastuko zara!!
Great! Great ! What a delight to listen to this performance. This is for sure one of the best interpretations ot this work, and for sure my one of my favourites.
Brava Marta !! Brava Marta...!!
One of my favorite pieces in the entire piano repetoire!!! And a marvillosa performance! However, I do think at times the orchestra over powered the piano.
Miss Zabaleta- What an absolutely stunning performance! You are truly gifted.

Magnífica pianista Marta Zabaleta!!! con el concierto para la mano izquierda de Ravel
Absolutely Fantastic
Massive sound, and great technique. One of the best perfomances, along with Michel Beroff's. Great.
I would add Leon Fleisher's performance, Waldbühne 1992
