Thanks for this informative video. It is amazing how many different whites there are!
I'm so glad it was helpful, Anne! I was surprised how many different shades I had in my stash!
I get Coconut Swirl at Joann's when it's 10 for 2.00. They always have it but the one I really like is Marshmello which they seem to be out most of the time.
Marshmallow is a great weight, but it is nearly cream, so I find it a bit frustrating to use with bright white collections. It is fab for mixed media though! My local Joann's doesn't carry cardstock or patterned paper unless it's in a paper pad, unfortunately.
OMG Laura. EOW What a spectacular share!! I’m so glad you did this and in such detail. As my hubby had gone to Michaels for me cause I NEEDED paper and white being one of them and I do Love Recollections plain paper....well I scrapping away and was starting Christmas Cards and grabbing the white and did have some image cuts ready to use and wham I thing. This is White Paper. Looked cream kinda so I went a REALLY read the label and it says ivory/white. Oh Boy. I mean it was awesome weight etc 110#. But I needed white so off to Michaels he goes for me and I had told him it stinks but I had no idea ivory should be linked with white for a color. So he came home with Whit/White so YEP!!
Your tutorial is spectacular. So thanks for going over everything this is a BIG deal!! GREAT JOB!! YOU so ROCK!!
Joan Smith
Thank you very much, Joan! It's amazing how many shades of white cardstock are out there! I'm so glad it was helpful, as I was testing this out, I thought others might be curious too, so why not share?
Coconut Swirl is my absolute favorite white card stock. I find it at JoAnn’s (they usually stock 50 sheets on the shelf) and ordered a ton of it in-store. I also buy the Blackberry Swirl. Smooth card stock is a must for me. I won’t use anything else for my layouts. It cuts pretty well in my Cameo. It’s not a fibrous as the usual Bazzill.
I agree 100%, Betsy! I've tried A LOT of white card stocks and always come back to Bazzill Coconut Swirl. It's just such a perfect neutral white with nice weight to it. I will look for the Blackberry Swirl!
Thank you for the info! I do like Bazzill white, I have gotten it at JoAnn’s but never a large quantity!
So glad it's helpful! Yes! I love that Bazzill paper, but it's so tricky to find in large quantities, I think because it's in high demand.
To me, white card stock is the most important element of card making. It’s worth investing in something that is smooth and thick enough to be a good base. I like 110 lb. Neenah solar white.
So true! One of the things that drives me crazy is when the shade of white doesn’t match. Even though I’m probably the only one who looks at it and cares, it matters!
I really like bazzill marshmallow and vicki Boutin's foundation paper because they are very thick and can hold up to mixed media.
Those are both great, but they are pricey and very warm whites. I love the foundation paper though and do use it for mixed media. I think they’ve changed Bazzill Marshmallow though, it doesn’t feel as thick to me.
That was awesome if you have any other manufacturers would love to see more comparisons hugs
Thank you! I do think I could do a follow up pairing cardstocks to a variety of manufacturers, great suggestion!
Wow, lots of wonderful information! Thank you for taking the time to do this comparison.
So glad it's helpful, Diane! I was testing these for myself and then figured others might like to know too!
I love Joanns parklane 110 lb white.
I will check that one out, Tina!
Thank you for taking the time to go through these papers. I can get over a small difference in whites but if they are too different it just won't work for me.
You’re welcome! So true! It just blows my mind how different the shades of “white” actually are!
This was such an awesome video, Laura. Thank you very much. It was interesting and informative 👍😊.
Thank you, Claudia! I’m glad it was helpful!
Thank you Laura, that was very informative. Last summer I bought two packs (120 sheets total) of American Craft cardstock and was shocked by the shade of white. I thought white is white. I only use it if I am covering most or all of the paper because I dislike it so much. My favorite white cardstock is Bazzill White. I will just stick with my favorite.:)
Yes! I agree 100%, so many people use American Crafts white and when I bought it, I immediately disliked it. It's so gray! I love a crisp Bazzill white because it's so neutral, it works pretty well. When you find that perfect shade, definitely stick with it!
This was a very useful video! I need to check out the HL white cardstock in 12x12. I don't know why I haven't ever.. I use their very heavy white cardstock in 8 1/2x11 size when I make invites for various parties and have always been pleased with it. I also need to checkout the bazzill brand.
The Hobby Lobby white cardstock with the Paper Studio branding is a great color, the weight is about 80 lb, so not thick, but okay and by far the cheapest. I do really like the weight and color of the Bazzill Coconut Swirl.
@@lauraalbertscrafts Thank ya ma'am! I'll have to see if my local Joann's carries that one and try it out.
Thanks so much for creating this Laura! It is so very useful :) xo
You're welcome, Moira! I was testing this for myself and figured others might be curious too!
Just saw this video. Thank you . What do you suggest to store white cardstock in to keep from turning yellowish around edges after you have had it for a while.
The biggest tip is to keep it away from windows. I’ve not had trouble with yellowing from the Bazzill card stock yet, but some older Recollections has turned on me when it was stored within the sun’s view of a window.
@@lauraalbertscrafts thank you
Have you used close to my heart white or stampin up?
I haven't because the shipping for just white cardstock would make it rather expensive. Also, I haven't seen Stampin Up white cardstock in 12x12.
@@lauraalbertscrafts yes the shipping for CTMH is not great but if you find a rep they usually split the shipping costs amongst all the orders, well here in Australia they do, I just have to collect off her. Stampin up they used to have whisper white but it is being changed atm so keep an eye out for the new white it should come in 12x12 the vanilla does. I use the a4 for stamping cards etc so still handy to have
Laura Alberts Stampin up has 12x12 in white. The ones they had until last month was called Whisper white. It is a beauty to work with. The right weight. Since the manufacturer of whisper white has to close down, they found another manufacturer but this white is called Basic white. I have t bought it yet. But when I get it, will let you know how it looks. But yes, the shipping costs are always huge and I always complain to my demo about that.
Where do you find the Hamico paper? If I’m spelling correctly.😉
It's Hamilco White Cardstock in 12x12. I buy it on Amazon here: amzn.to/3ggjy1X (affiliate link). Hope that helps, Jina!
@@lauraalbertscrafts thank you
Create for less sells bazzill by the pack
That's good to know! I'll check them out, thanks for the tip!
