Thank you for this! I've been thinking the last couple days I wish I had something like this to help me past my midgame slump. I always end up starting a new base around the power spine stage. I think I just get overwhelmed with all the things I need to tackle from there.
❤

This is exactly what I've been looking for! Thanks so much for making this. EDIT: Lol, multiple people have said this almost word for word. Shows that this video is needed and helpful. I just made it to the Mid-Game for the first time and was so focused on getting here, I had no clue what to do next. This video is great for some guidance
Glad I could help!
Best structured tutorial I have ever seen.
I always get lost end mid / early late game.
wut
That hesitation when saying "fun ways" XD
This is exactly what I was looking for. A very well made video: informative but also simple and easy to follow. Thank you for making this!
This is fabulous! I’m so glad I stumbled onto your RUclips videos this morning. This is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you for some amazing content!
ive been looking for something like this and luckily find it by an unrelated search, helps so much!
Best tutorial i have ever seen
Sour gas boilers do “break in many fun ways” 😂
Excellent. They should link this video in the starting menu so new ppl know what they are getting into :).
I was thinking what topic will you find next, and nothing came to my mind. But you can still find some fun topics! Good job man.
Thanks, but actually this one came form viewer suggestions! I only now have the critters and plants ones to go, so have covered pretty much everything I could think of.
Just in time and what I needed! Bought the game coule of days ago and couldnt focus at all on what I need to do or what my goals should be. Currently in my 5th fresh start wish me luck 😅
Loads of fun. Every time you start a new colony you think this time I got it. You deal with the issues from the last one earlier, things seem stable and running great. Oops you missed something and it is going to take x cycles to fix but you only have x/2 cycles before disaster.
Happy to help, just keep pushing on to something new and you'll grow your base and your skills - good luck!
Very well done. I needed this.
Excellent game summary!
Great overview, thanks
Fantastic and concise.
MORE TUTORIAL BITES? Heck yes.
My friend, you are the David Attenborough of ONI
I would love to see a full showcase for the colony in the video, or of a late game colony.
I was thinking to go through my colony history at some point, including this one - so maybe in the future.
very cool
Very good one.
The only thing that i dont follow is the isolation of the base in the midgame. I just use some wheezewort at the heat entrance and rush a dreko stable to sustain them : In chlorine you can just use the plant which grows in chlorine and have unlimited phoshorite and fiber.
At some point i will make a brick industry and can redirect a lot of the phosphorite to other things and use the wild version of wheezewort with pips / domesticated version ponctually
Wheezeworts are good, but in the spaced out DLC they can be a radiation hazard. Plus if you then have a lot of industry and stripmining, heat can quite easily get to the base. Either way insulating usually helps reduce the amount of cooling you actually need to do regardless of how you do it, and is quite easy to build - hence why I recommend it.
@@GCFungus i fully agree i just dont like to lock my base into walls when i want to expand, probably not optimal tho i can hear that
For the radiation, If you dont group your plants or put them close to the bedroom you should never take more radiation than what a toilet use can remove, never had a problem with that
@@basab1063 I think the more you play the game, the more you realize how easy it is to knock down literally anything you've built and move it, so I don't see that as a huge issue. Also beware the radiation on max difficulty!
@@GCFungus oh yeah sure i play on normal ahaha that's probably the thing
I feel like I'm watching a science documentary film/show.
Me with my game structure absolutely everywhere. I have plastic automation, steel and no cooling it's cycle 240, and also it's my first run. The wiki is great, and tutorials are better.
Well there's no hard rules, although some things do have a fixed order. Everyone plays differently!
I was able to ignore oxygen production until I had electrolysis unlocked
You really only need to insulate & cool your plants early on. Termp tolerance is much greater for dupes and critters.
I remember building my first rocket and it exploded for no apparent reason and took out half my dupes... it was so frustrating but I wiped the save and restarted a new colony... 5/7 would do it again.
I haven't heard of rockets exploding?
Ah yes renewable resources. Like my 3 chlorine geysers and 4 carbon dioxide vents 😭
Haha, that's rough buddy!
I comment to help statistics
Build my first rocket before even finishing sustaining my base, and didnt know you can build stuff inside the rocket plus forgot about resources.
Dupes ended up dying inside caz ran out of oxygen caz it was a vacuum inside, and no bathroom/bed/food, only an atmo suit. 😂
Rockets can definitely be very hazardous for dupes!
I got 100 hrs in and I'm still having trouble with early game =( cause I don't know what to focus on? and when to explore? Should I go into other biomes with out exosuites? And my base has everything everywhere and not very organized as you have or others.
I hope the video helps explain the early game steps. Yes definitely explore, you don't need atmo suits it just makes life a lot easier. You will learn how to organise as you get more experience, but focus at the start on getting a stable base with enough food, oxygen and rooms to keep your dupes safe and alive.
Is it possible you can make a video on early base layout and design?
I've had this thought before but struggled to make enough substance in the video to add anything new that I didn't cover in all the other Tutorial Bites. I'll keep it in mind but it won't be coming soon, so I could only suggest checking out some of my playthroughs for my early base style as it tends to be quite similar and functional.
is there gonna be a tutorial bite for critter ranching
Yep, it's next up and in production so shouldn't be long now!
I wanna go through the whole game no sandbox but i also feel like after 1000 cycles you earned it so idk i wanna use it but i dont wanna be "cheating"
Well it's up to you whether you use it or not, just what's most fun. Personally I wouldn't use it in a game but that's me.
How the heck are you getting 3300 radbolts/cycle on a single radbolt generator? I've been using wheezworts and at best I get 150/cycle
If I recall correctly, he used a infinite liquid storage for liquid nuclear waste to pile that much radiation in one spot. He talks about it in his tutorial bite about radbolts
I struggle so much with mid game T_T
Just a constructive comment about your voiceover audio. I would take a look at the huge amount of bass. It is very hard to listen to without headphones. Source: former audio engineer. Cheers
It make me almost don't play more
