Trenitalia in HO 2018: E402a with Intercity; E656 with Sicilian express; E444R with Intercity notte

  • This video shows some old friends who are not going to be around for long (or may have gone already!).
    The last E402a has been sent for conversion to the single cab E401- the last of the passenger E656s are still hanging on express and night trains in Sicily; the E444s are still going to be around for a bit, but I see alot of the UIC-X 1995, 1998 and 2000R refitted coaches going for scrap.
    The E402a express represents the IC595 from Trieste to Roma. Similar to the composition here: • UN GRANDE RICORDO DELL...
    The coaches are from the IC270 refit. These can be spotted due to lack of external electronic destination board. I have recreated the formation as follows:
    Riva E402a XMPR:
    ACME UIC-Z B IC270
    Lima UIC-Z B IC901, repainted in the New IC Sun colours (this should be IC270, without destination board.
    Roco Eurofima B IC901 repainted in IC Sun colours (again, should be IC270 variant).
    ACME UIC-Z B XMPR IC270
    ACME Gran Confort BHR (1st series) XMPR (IC270)
    ACME Gran Confort A XMPR (IC270)
    At present in Sicily, you can still see E656s on Intercity work, often with three or four UIC-Z coaches. Here is an example: • Stazione di Rometta Me...
    I have recreated a similar train using the four remaining coaches I have in IC Sun colours- 3x Lima UIC-Zs (again IC901 series, should be IC270), Roco Gran Confort.
    The loco is the recent release Riva E656- it should have the red version of the Trenitalia logo, but instead has the blue version.
    Finally, I have now collected enough stock to create a ICN Euronight train. I have recreated a rake similar to those seen on the Adriatic route.
    E444R Rivarossi XMPR
    2x ACME UIC-X Giubiio 2000R series (plug doors) in XMPR pax colours
    1x ACME UIC X as above, put in mainline colours. This came in pax colours, but I converted it to mainline by painting the blue stripe round the windows. This is because there isn't a readily available 2000R in mainline colours at the mo. It has also been revised to the blue Trenitali logo that it was delivered with after the refit. This is not accurate for the rest of the train!
    2x ACME UIC-X Guibileo 1998R T4 Comfort sleepers (converted from 1st class coaches).
    2x Heris T2s Sleepers. These should really be the refitted version of this coach, with new windows and 200KM/H adjustments.
