- Rainy season is not much fun without an unbrella or poncho. If you get caught out, you're f**ked. Bangkok is guaranteed to get flooded every time there's a heavy downpour. Over the last 100 years Thailand's capital city has seen some terrible flooding. If you move to Bangkok, you should be aware of the areas that are more prone to flooding, it's easy to find this out by doing a google search. The condo tour videos won't give you this kind of info!

Nobody makes quality Bangkok better than you Pat. Your knowledge and commitment is super impressive and important to Bangkok culture ❤
Love your content. I'm not sure people appreciate how much time you spend creating your videos.
The opening of this video was priceless and 100% on point.
I direct people to your channel all the time. No one that I've seen covers the history of Thailand the way you do.
Thanks!
Bangkok Pat never disappoints with his video
The best YT channel out there ! Hands down.
Cheers Bradley😇🥰
Absolutely 🙏🇬🇧😊
Indeed. Edited well and shows Pats music "skills". On top of that he dresses sharp and doesn't look like a cheap "influencer" tourist.
I was living in Lad Phrao during the floods of 2011, Thai Army trucks were instrumental in helping to transport people. Coming back to my condo from a Chonburi trip, neighbors offered me a boat ride down my Soi to my condo with my luggage. I had to climb over the wall to get inside the common area where the 1st floor was. It was surreal to have have the whole condo building surrounded by water and most residents left. But everyone during this time were gracious and helpful. I will never forget. Loved this, Pat.
We have missed you Pat..
Wonderful start to the day... Bangkok pats put a new video out! 🎉🎉🎉😎👍
Your videos and soundtracks normally are excellent but this one is beyond exceptional, Pat. Thank you so much
Cheers, I choose the music with the clips carefully!
You take a long time to get your videos out but the wait's always worthwhile and has depth.
No need to complain. Quality over quantity
I apologise for that. There was an issue with RUclips after the content of the last video, the first edit not the one l uploaded later.
Thanks!
Thanks for keeping me in reliving my childhood and I am a Bangkoks native
Thanks a lot for supporting! Appreciate it very much.
I love your sense of humor Pat!
Always good to see you back Pat ❤
I've been caught in Sukhumvit during rainy season when the soi become the klong but the worst I'VE seen thus far has been upcountry in my Second Home of Chiang Mai as my flat ISN'T all that far away from the Ping River! Kob khun mahk, Khun Pat! Your videos are always not only informational but also Sanuk-Unlimited! 🙂
@11.37 completely nailed it “wide eyed newbie’s“ couldn’t have said it better myself Pat! Love your content keep up the good work! Another video another polo T-shirt 😎
Excellent, I have been waiting for a new Bangkok Pat drop. I haven't even watched it, yet, but I gave it a like. Pat's quality is consistent.
probably your best video yet, very very good
Thanks
Thanks a lot Hans.
Another great video Pat. Showing the world the real picture of life in Bangkok. Keep it up 💪. And it seems the buses of 1983 are still in service this day 😅
Hi Pat, great video as usual. I like the new zooming technique at the 17mins and the water image overlay at 19. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Pat, pure quality as always.
Thank you for showing us this video of the flooding in Bangkok Pat. You are right these Condo Tour videos don't tend to show the negatives of living in Bangkok such as the flooding seen in this video. Its good to get a balanced view of live in Bangkok. Especially as someone who is planning a move to Bangkok next year to live I need to be aware that this may happen.
If planning to move somewhere, most important thing is that you have experienced and stayed there before.
Thanks!
Thanks a lot for your support, appreciate it.
@@BangkokPat Love your vids, Pat. And I always find myself Shazamming them so I can capture your excellent soundtracks and expand my music library.
Thanks Pat, I really enjoy historical videos, so keep up the good work 😊
Another brilliant and thoroughly enjoyable documentary 🇹🇭🌧
Brilliant topic, the rainy day experienced in March 2022 was the happiest day as it lowered temps from mid high 30s to a comfortable level that was bearable even in soaking wet clothes
Another well researched, great video Pat!
Consistently well crafted video, absolutely well researched..thank you Pat
Great video Pat as always. I remember 1987 storm too. Sevenoaks lost six of its oaks.
Brilliant video thanks Pat , the research and being not your usual videos that are often on RUclips makes yours so special 👍🇹🇭.
Wow how good is your work. Fantastic 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Great video Pat & love the old footage of Bangkok’s floods! Glad to know about how some neighborhoods could get flooded real bad…thanks for pointing them out! Cannot wait for your next vlog😊
Excellent video Pat, I really liked looking back on the floods of years past. It's obvious that there needed to be better infrastructure to cope with the current situation, at least something is being done. I spend a lot of time looking at weather maps due to my work, and everything seems to be moving to the extreme. I have a more positive outlook as I believe that there's always a solution.
Bangkok does look beautiful in the wet.
If you look at drainage pipe in front of McDonald's on beach road 🛣️ it's full of sludge.
I think a good cleaning is all that's needed.
Really enjoyed it, thank you Pat. Great historical photos and footage. You must have gotten through a few pairs of shoes!
Hi, I have to commend your great filming and excellent research and footage 👏.
Cannot imagine how many shoes you ruined in the making of this great film. Much appreciated 🙏
You are the best Pat. Thx for superior videos.
Great episode as usual, your dry wit makes me chuckle! Hope to tour with you when I get to BKK.
Cheers James! Appreciate the support 😼😻
Entertaining and informative, with an informal tone. Cheers, Pat.
Always look at the bright side of rain!
I loved how your video remained positive throughout, showing the beauty of the element that Bangkok is all about.
Wading the streets of a Thai city after a heavy downpour - that is the true baptism!
Your channel has the highest quality content about Thailand. Love the music selection! Hope to see you in BKK one day!
12:30 ... and again a perfect match of musik and pictures !!! So nice !!! Thank you !!!
Best Bangkok youtuber by a big margin. This was the best video about Bangkok I watched in a long while.
Another top notch edition of
Bkk Pat
Always look forward to seeing your videos 👍🙏
Hello. This is Maxi from Portugal. Really enjoyed the research on this last video. One step above. I hope we can do another tour soon. Take good care!
Perfect timing for a rainy day vid in Bangkok… 👍🏼👍🏼
I rushed this out when the rains came down today!
Another great VDO Pat!
2011 was the year we moved to Thailand and we were suppose to look for a house/ condo in Bangkok! But the floods put a stop to that idea and forced to move to Pattaya along with the rest of Bangkok. Didn’t stay long there and moved further south and end up permanently living in Bang Saray! Much nicer place!
Look forward to your next installment!
Cool footage and very fascinating.
I remember being in Bangkok in the rainy season for a few weeks, the Thais just grinned and carried on as normal, and me in wellies they found hilariously funny. Couldn't bring myself to go barefoot like many of them and didn't want to wreck my shoes or boots. Many enjoy people watching , I loved Thai watching , they are just so full of fun and don't ever seem to stop smiling. Funniest thing for me was seeing a monitor lizard drifting down a flooded street. Stay safe and regards to you both. :)
Thanks, Pat.
One time I walked out of my place on Sukhumvit 61. It was just starting to rain. I went and got on the #2, bus, my favorite at the time, and off we went...for 10 meters, then stopped. It really started to poor, and by the time I got to Soi 53 I had to get off and give up. I stepped out into water up to my knees, cried a quick tear at the danger I put myself into, and slopped it all the way home.
Another time I went to pick up an airplane ticket from my place way out Ramkanhaeng Rd., back when they had those "splashy" 35 baht Air-con mini-buses with TV's up front. Woop. I got the ticket and decided to have lunch before getting back on one of those buses and going home. I made it - 7 hours later. The bus driver was a great guy. He would get out and go into a place renting videos and get a new one for us. We watch 3 or 4 of them by the time I stepped out. Those were the days.
Excellent video Pat. I might show it to a few of my work mates who are planning a holiday there early next October.
Hopefully won't be as bad next year....
Great video.. Interesting as always. Fantastic shits you got in the recent flooding
Quality video again Pat,,,peace and happiness 😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤
Another brilliant video
I've experienced the rain and a few floods in bangkok your videos are excellent...thank you ...
I also remember Michael fish on the tv weather forecast saying the famous No need to worry ..
Looking forward to being in bangkok for new year 🎉
Fascinating as usual. I am back in Bkk in a weeks time.
Great video Pat ,,thanks
Great research and video Pat. You’re the best.
Every days a sunny day when Bangkok Pat releases another video 😄👍
Thanks for the video 🤟
Your videos are always fascinating and informative with excellent context. 10⭐️ 👏🏻👍🏻😊
Good to see you again, my friend. Thanks for sharing 🙏🏾
Great video mate. So much work, remarkable clips plus all your great footage. Thankyou.
Nice video and a great topic! Quickly got to love rainy season in Thailand. In BKK, always carried a good collapsible umbrella and a pair of plastic flip-flops.
Great record of the flooding in Bangkok👍…Take Care!☺️
Great video, thanks!
Love the old pics and videos of BKK, especially when I’m able to recognize the location and see how much it’s changed
Another great production. Thank you Pat very much enjoyed it.
Haha heh it just pissed down. Very quick editing Mr Pat!
It was tactically timed....
Fantastic old videos and photographs
Great footage thanks!
Thank you Pat another class production.
Wonderful video again from a fantastic channel 🙏 👊
Very interesting video about the raining season today and in the past. I been many times in Thailand but never in worst time of the raining season it can be a challenge from what i see in ur video. Well done again for this great video about this subject Pat!
Thanks again vor another great video Pat!
Excellent! My husband prefers rainy season to the peak season with it's insanely high levels of 2.5 particular matter. Me, I like it when we get a hard rain once every 2-3 days to clean the air a bit.
I worked for many years at Channel 1 TV, you are an excellent documenter, I really enjoy your films
Jak
Brilliant Video Pat.
Another quality video. Thx.
Thanks for a another interesting video Pat !!
Releasing the video rigbt after another heavy rainstorm just passed over Bangkok ...555
I rushed the video out when it started raining today!
a fascinating video. Thank you, Pat!
You have done a lot of research. Wonderful and thanks.
Great video. What is striking is the resilience of the locals just getting on with it. If that level of flooding was to occur in the UK on that scale the country would just grind to a halt.
A good review on high waters. I need a rainfall map for Thailand in order to choose my next accomodation wisely.
Great vlog... and excellent timing! I have been researching this topic, as I consider possible locations for a future retirement in SE Asia. It is good to see that, in Bangkok, at least, the government has been working to address/mitigate the problem, over the past years, with real-world engineering solutions.
Very timely video Pat (our family home in Chiang Rai was submerged during the floods some 7 weeks ago); ta very much for raising everyone's awareness about this issue. I for one never knew it could get so bad in Bangkok itself so now I'm going to read up on some of the history you covered, starting with the floods of 1942.
Nice shoes mate. Always great stuff !
Already was waiting for a next episode
Thanks for a great documentary!
totally agree - great vid
Thanks Pat ……..well worth the wait
I just rode on my bike in Bangkok from Terminal 21 home, about 5min or so. It was raining like from buckets. That was not the bad part. Normally rain in warm in Thailand. But today, for whatever reason, the rain was cold, or at least a lot colder than usual. 5min was just about acceptable, and then I needed a long hot shower at home.
Enjoy!
Recently I was in Thailand again for the first time in 6 years and I noticed the same thing. The rain was in fact cold water, totally unlike I remember.
Excellent. Very informative.
Always great videos 👍
Great video btw, your historical digging is really good, shows bangkok is so much more then the touristy parts you see, and the dark sides of it.
Great video as usual.
I have been in BKK since late Monday afternoon, no rain yet! Fingers crossed that continues.
Oh, it's a good day when Bkk Pat uploads a new video. I've/We've been earnestly waiting! Breaking Bad, without the weed.
Wow all that water i wont complain about a bit of rain over here in England again 😬 as for climate change im with the freak brothers on that one thanks for another great video 👍❤️🏴x
Fantastic video pat as usual
Top Banana pat, off to bangers tomorrow so hope it's not too flooded
@@kippsguitar6539 The rain was all done by 4pm today
@BangkokPat thanks pat, looking forward it , all the best from jomtien
Thanks Pat - again.
Pat, I went to work in London the day after the storm. Could sleep the night before. Couldn't believe the damage as I took the bus to Stepney. I just got back from Koh Kret and a lot of the houses are still flooded, businesses not open. I asked a local lady if the flooding was normal - and she said it happens every year in Koh Kret. That said, the island infrastructure is inadequate - very few pumps were working to pump out the water, probably because it costs money to run them. Still, a lot of the traditional old houses on stilts were high and dry and you can walk and cycle around to island on elevate walkways.
