- The true story of Chris, on the run from the UK cops, addicted to coke, disappears to Thailand where he gets into three career defining professions, bar owner, english teacher and drug smuggler. His life is one big adventure but two moments of cocaine fuelled stupidity in London come back to haunt him later, and he finds himself in several dodgy situations. It's a sordid, sweaty. dodgy tale with many twists and turns. Enjoy!

Well done for putting in the effort to polish your skills so you can tell the story without cuts between every sentence. That trend is ruining a lot of RUclips channels these days.
Thanks a lot, with storytelling you gotta try and do them in one take, or be very good at editing so it sounds like that!
I've got many stories like this. So many short term thinkers arriving daily
You're all class, bud. Nice work. Not sure I've ever mentioned that to another guy before. Much Respect.
The lucky thing for chris is that he served time in britain and not in thailand.
That's for sure.
So He Went Muslim? hahaha
@@brucegrant9964 Going Muslim is the new thing in British prisons for serial killers like cowardly scumbag Levi Bellfield.
Why did the woman try to smuggle glucose?
@@arielallerhand3389someone is on a diet 😮
Back in the day early 1990s, I used to drink at a well-known bar on Sukhumvit 11. A regular German boozer ( call him Fritz) there had a rich daddy. Daddy's went bust so Fritz started to smuggle drugs into Thailand with his Thai girl. She got busted on a drug run and in order for her not to get the death penalty he admitted to owning half the haul so that her sentence was reduced to life. He got life too and is probably still in Bang Kwang. I admire him for saving her life. He was a decent bloke who just did not know how to et a proper job. Thanks for telling this story about Chris.
It was very entertaining and I really like the excellent quality of the editing, mixing scenes from Bangkok, Pattaya and London in the 90's...Looking forward to your next chapter!
Dont think he deserved to get a 13 stretch ...hes just like a lot of other young "over inflated ego" blokes but fckd up !
If hed handed himself in when it happened he'd be doing half that time 🤷
Bloody good story, enjoyed it. Happy with that ending too. Thanks for sharing the story Pat 👍
Cheers Ricky
Great story Pat, unfortunately young men often make stupid mistakes and the consequences can be life changing. Hopefully someone will see this and stop and think before they to do something stupid and ruin their life.
Borders are tighter these days and Chris wouldn't get away with all that in 2023.
Nice comment reveals a lot about you 🙏
Wow, this story makes me feel like a timid old fuddy duddy! I been back and forth between the US and Thailand quite a bit in the last 25 years, but I can tell that the best arrangement is for me to make my money in USD and then go spend it as THB. I am not an investor, and the last thing I want to do is owe money to a Thai lawyer!
Remember when the BHT was 45 to the USD in 04-05'?. That was my 1st time in Thailand. Best experience I ever had. Looking to get back there soon!.
@@mrdm1967ify I first came to Thailand in early 2004 and indeed, the exchange was great at that time.
This was very enjoyable indeed! Having been down the same road when I was in my late 20's into my early 30's (minus the drug smuggling and running from the law), it's all too common to meet other young Thailand based farang that think they can just swoop on in to magically become a bar/nightclub owner with their 'trusted Thai business partner'. Things more often than not don't go to plan! Great video mate.
Messed up way to make moneyv
Very well narrated Pat...enjoyed it very much, better than reading a book..well done.
You are a very polished and professional storyteller who understands using the latest video bells and whistles. Based on so many other channels I've seen and their sub counts, you deserve at least 10 times as many subs as you have today. Great luck in growing the channel...
Thank you, l can only do my best but people like the walking faces type videos more than my long boring ones🥳🥳🥳
@@BangkokPatI prefer your style of videos, you have great storytelling abilities, I will keep watching.
Hot damn! You can tell a story, Pat!
Thanks Pat for sharing a great story, and for creating such an awesome video to tell it!
I have lived here in Thailand for 16 years and this is a very common story.. Love this guys sense of humor.
I SUBSCRIBED.
Glad to hear that and hope you get a chance to catch up on some old videos!
Great vlog, Pat. I'm glad he had his days behind bars for a long time.I love your vlogs when you have the cats in the background or playing with them.
Thank you! 😊 The cats demand it so l gotta comply ,😻
Great storytelling is a rare ability. As we all tell stories, it is sometimes difficult to pinpoint why storytelling is a difficult art to master. Pat has told this true crime story well with all of its twist and turns, and edgy, dodgy characters. The key is to involve the viewer/listener/reader in the story. Pat does this exceptionally well.
With this video Pat joins the noir crime storytellers in Thailand and elsewhere. I look forward to watching future stories set in Thailand unfold in Pat's capable hands.
More to come Chris!😎
Ya know what Pat? I am addicted to your videos. Started watching your back catalogue of brilliantly researched and informative episodes since last week and must have watched 50 of them now. Your knowledge of Bangkok and the way you deliver each subject you're discussing is far beyond anything i have witnessed on RUclips so far. If you have any free time in October/November I am visiting the Mrs in Chiang Mai. You are more than welcome to come up and be our guests or you can come next year once we move into our own gaff. I will show you round what i believe to be my city and then you will show me how much you know it much better than me. Keep up the good work man, so glad i stumbled across your documentaries. They are seriously fascinating to listen to. And this story was no exception. You should write a novel mate. 😊
Thanks for the kind words and glad you're catching up on the videos mate. I don't know Chiang Mai well, only from videos by Chai Travel and Bill's Unseen in Thailand channel! Was there last in 2001!!
Lol...a lawyer introduced him into drug smuggling, that's hilarious. Nice one Pat. I enjoyed the vid
This country can also be as bent as the UK is...
Messy life
He just spoiled his life. So strange how people live their lives carelessly.
Love Thailand.
Love Thai girls
But anywhere you go there are bad people in the community.
Tkx for sharing the story.
P.S as soon as you put drugs in your system😢😢😢 your not 'YOU' anymore.
Stay away from drugs. Life is good specially in Thailand ❤❤❤👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🍺🍺🍺🍺
Great storytelling Pat, another string to your bow. I always enjoy the humorous banter between your two selves👍
Can't be deadly serious all the way Rob, gotta have a break here and there.
I notice your subs are gathering momentum 29k and rising. Congrats the quality is gaining rewards👍
Did this guy use to work behind the scenes at the BBC or other TV channel or something? He seems to know how to make proper television. This is really well done.
Thanks Bryan, never done anything technically advanced on TV, I'm self taught!
Many bad dudes I knew of back home escaped their life and came to South East Asia. Some apparently on fake passports. Never argue with anyone here, farang or local. Responsible and respectful thing to do but also self-preservation. They're are a lot of connected Westerners in Thailand. You never know who the guy seated next to you is. Even in small northern villages staying low.
So true you never know who you are the company of,as they say (i gave him an offer he could not refuse) heavy men get old,but still have the power to pull many strings, beware of the old frail man in the corner of the bar😊
Encountered more than a few staying low. My hunch is they also have no visa. Too bad bounty hunting is not allowed here. I would be rich!

Great story Pat! Looking forward to the next one!
Great Story Pat!
Cracking story Pat and very well told 👍🏼
Thanks Buster!
Excellent story, and well very told Pat 👍
Chris is very lucky to have survived. Thanks for the C. Moore recommendation. While I'm waiting to travel to Bangkok, I will start reading his books, starting with "Spirit House".
You’re a great storyteller Pat !
Quite the story there Pat. You had me feeling a little anxious a couple of times 😅. Several parts of that story have happened to countless Farangs over the years.
It's more common than people think. Not every story makes google!
Plot twist he is chris
Great story telling talent there, Pat!! You kept me watching for over twenty minutes, which is not an easy task 😅. Look forward to more! I’m curious what’s Chris up to now? Any ideas? Should he be out of jail?
Not sure about Chris, l didn't know him and l certainly won't be asking around!
What a great story and so well told. I’ve now converted from Thailand Bound to Bangkok Pat.
This is my first super thanks sent to any RUclipsr.
Well done Pat and hope to hear more stories like these.
Fantastic, so good to hear that! More storytelling to come, and thanks in advance for the Superthanks!
good story , well told plus the humour ..... I personally think you have a future and will go a long way Mr Spielburg ( but the younger version ) 55555. ........... top job once again
Thanks Geoff, watch this space!
Well, it appears that the character Chris has finally achieved a profound sense of solace and harmony, which is undoubtedly something that every individual yearns for. One intriguing observation I have made about people is that those who have ventured outside their comfort zones and immersed themselves in foreign lands have truly delved into the very core of existence. The transformation from the bustling streets of Croydon to the vibrant tapestry of Bangkok must have undoubtedly been an extraordinary odyssey. So, I encourage Chris to embrace life with both longevity and exhilaration, making the most of every fleeting moment. Btw, in Thailand now there are intensive consultations with their authorities and the British Foreign Office regarding individuals fleeing justice in Europe. The days of the past are a thing of the past. I must say though that the advent of more British tourists visiting has resulted in heavier workloads and headaches for the consular section lads from King Charlie Street. or as a Croydon lad might say..." The old Kent road ain't wot it used ta be"😉
Interesting story, very well told. Nice one Pat
Enjoyed it Pat - well put together.
Cheers Rob 😎
This was the first I've seen of you. This story format is great - i think it's your golden ticket. X has long form
as well.
Very good story Pat, and you are also an excellent storyteller 😊
🤩🤩
Great story Pat. I like the way you tell it with pictures and videos.
Fact is when u run ur life in wrong lane, u will 100% meet an accident. Thailand is heaven for so many people, who is living good life n even lavish life with proper business.
remember pattaya 1990, great stuff pat
And back next week!
That was awesome story telling mate. Your Thailand bangkok vlogs are definitely my favourite always get excited when you upload new one. Really appreciate the hard work mate.
Thanks and appreciate the kind words mate.
"So much for the golden future, he can't even start. He had every promise broken, there's anger in his heart. You don't know what it's like, you don't have a clue. If you did you'd find yourselves doing the same thing. Breaking the law, breaking the law, breaking the law, breaking the law"
Good track, lyrics don't quite fit but Judas Priest would be delighted anyway!
Thanks khun Pat, fascinating story. Love your great editing, dry humour, and cat company.
Three essentials for good videos!!
I don't know what our fascination is with these types of stories but you did an excellent job. Not easy keeping someones attention for 20 mins these days. The time lines are a lot shorter these days especially with cameras and computers.
Great presentation of a sordid yet interesting tale. Thank you for sharing it in your inimitable style...Cheers!
Been watching your videos for a while now. Loved this story and you should do more of these types of videos! Like the British gangster who lost an eye whilst out in thailand. Great content man! Keep it up! ❤
Thanks man 😎
Fantastic video, Pat - probably my favourite so far. Love these kinds of stories - Banged Up Abroad is one of my favourite TV shows and there is usually at least one episode in each series set in Thailand.
That was a fantastic series, is it still going? I gotta catch up on some of those old ones.
@@BangkokPat There are a few series on Disney+
Interesting story and I definitely agree about the books, very underrated writer that most, unfortunately, have never heard of. Cheers Pat :)
Mental story Pat had me gripped.

That was very entertaining. Great story!
Great vdo. Love the "If it ain't spicy i ain't eating it" screen grab 😂
Which one? 😝
Never seen your content before. This is excellent. Looking forward to your next video.

Wow what a great video and story, must have taken a lot of time and effort …
It’s great to have such a professional channel about Thailand … there’s a lot of rubbish out there.
Thanks Charlie, you are absolutely right mate!
Great video Pat,' same as many I watch full video.. I lived in BKK 2007-2017 working Oil rigs in Asia. Best 10 years of my life
Awesome story and very well told . Wasn't long winded at all , all the particulars we needed and very easy to follow. I bet this wasn't the first or last person to have gone down this unfortunate trail. Cheers Pat 👍🏼🍻🇦🇺🇹🇭
Cheers, probably many many tales like this in the past few decades before they started tightening things up at borders.
Great little storytime movie Pat. Really enjoy a good old story about the old days..

Very very interesting and captivating story mate, I really enjoyed it..👏🏾
Damn, this is like travelling back in time, to the good ol happy days of Thailand :)
Pattaya & Bangkok in the 90s? Different world before the masses arrived and told everyone!
As always.... your work is way ahead and more professional than any other Vloggers in RUclips. Great Job...... Wow great story..what a Pratt that guy is.
Cheers, thank you. And I'm definitely in agreement about the pratt part!
Mate you've got a talent for the stories you'll grow on RUclips really enjoyed it good luck keep it up.
Thanks, I will be doing more stories and new bits but of course my usual videos exploring and history.
It's strange that people with arrest warrants are permitted to travel and once they have, become invisible.
Back in the 1990s it's not like the Thai border control would be able to just pop online and check for arrest warrants from another country for every person coming through.
What a story and your a great story teller 😊
You're good at this! Well done video, I enjoyed it very much.
Another great video! An interview with Chris now would be interesting. He seems like one of those guys who thinks he's always the smartest guy in the room.
Pat, you create a nice video about this story. Excellent story telling. 🙏
Thanks Gert, glad you liked it. I must do more stories.
I support this change from your usual content.

Greetings from the Windy City! Jet lag still nagging after a 30 hour Bangkok to Chicago commute via Seoul with a 6 hour layover there. Awesome episode!
I lived in Pattaya and Bangkok for two years and had better stories than Chris every weekend...
What goes around comes around!!!!!! Really interesting story Pat and the twist at the end . Be careful who you wrong in life because you never know . These new vlogs your doing like breaking news are great Pat and add even more to your channel 👏👏👏
Cheers Jimmy, these are fun to tell, l am working on another at the moment!
Long story, but very enjoyable!
''If it's gonna be a long story then make it interesting" is what I was always told. Funny because another channel is upset that other channels also tell stories.
Great story very well put over and extremely interesting. Well done.
Great Vid Pat, Cheers
Thanks very much mate 😍
Great story Pat. Didn't expect the twist at the end either 👍
Cheers John, it was an unexpected but welcome twist though!
Love the Mark Wiens photoshop! 😂😂😂
without hesitation, clicked subscribe button after watching 1 video by Pat
Great story. I think I met a version of Chris in Pattaya in 1996. My 1st visit.
Maybe you saw him on his first trip!
I don't give allot of compliments, but you did a fantastic job of telling that story. Give writing sone short stories a shot, and put them out there in this format. Cheers!
Thanks Mike, that is something that could interest me....
Great story- well-put together and well-told!
WOW!! Thank you! KUDOS Pat! Kudos! This is absolutely brilliant. Best of the best true crime. Aside from your usual well done video production, blending still photos and video, editing, extraordinarily captivating and entertaining narratives; you wisely chose a story with a ‘twist in the tale’ worthy of Jeffrey Archer and Elmore Leonard!! to overuse a sage cliche, truth is stranger than fiction & hell hath no fury than a Thai lass scorned. I wholeheartedly encourage you to do more such videos, Pat. L❤️VE it!! mahalos & aloha 🤙🏾
Thank you very much, really nice of you to say so. More stories coming, l may write a couple for the next few videos. Hope you're well😍😎
There are a load of dodgy Farange Chancers in Thailand, especially in the party towns.
I’ve said it before but if you live out here, choose your friends very very carefully.
Absolutely right, and choose your enemies carefully too. Cheers mate😎
Thanks for sharing a great story Pat. Looking forward to hearing more soon
Cheers Jamie.
Wow a lot of work went into this entertainment thanks. I also like that you're the only RUclipsr to pronounce PAT-taya rather than Patt-AY-a although i thought Thais give equal emphasis PAT-TAY-YA...
Thanks, that way of saying it has always seemed the most natrual way for me!
Great vid…..I’ve heard similar stories in my many visits
What a great video. Really creative too. My one criticism is... your Lotus position needs some practice... ;)
You're right, that was quite painful!
Pat on this first jet lagged night in Bangkok I watched this video and listened with eagerness because I love hearing information about new places I have chosen to call home for a while. I've spent 14 years in Hong Kong , 1 year in Vietnam 🇻🇳, 1 year in 🇱🇦 Laos, 1 year in Uzbekistan 🇺🇿, and now I've finally come back to beautiful and wonderful Thailand to become a resident now. Spent 3 winter vacations here during my expat life in HK and I would love to shout you a drink or meal sometime if you could spare some time. I'm working on blockchain projects and getting paid on chain. Would love to meet some people and share more stories. I'm dual citizen USA/NZ
I’ve missed your stories! Hope you’re recovering from your animal attack with no issues. Take care!
Thanks Keith, I'm rabies and dog free, but as you saw in this video, I'm keeping the cats closer....
@@BangkokPat ALWAYS a wise move! Glad to hear your treatments are secure!
Really enjoyed the story,Please do some more 👌
Nicely done Pat! ..loved that subtle wink
10/10 for story telling...and great editing. Btw what editing tool did you use for 2 x Pats?
Just run both videos and split the screen when editing, I use Movavi. I film both parts in one take so the camera is in one position all the time. Of course getting the dialogue timing is key when making it a conversation, that takes a long time!! Cheers!
Great story telling there! 👍
