Making this film was one of the highlights of my career. Working with Sir David is always a fantastic experience, and getting to know the park and its wild inhabitants was a real privilege. London, you have a great nature reserve on your doorstep! Can't wait until I'm back in Richmond Park!
LOWE sonia Green Park, Hyde Park, St. James' Park, Bushy Park, Richmond Park, and the Lea Valley Park, are all great parks that we are very proud of as Londoners.
Thank you Bluefire films and David Attenborough - the message is so very important, if we do not pay attention we will leave a very degraded world to the grandchildren and their children. Please make more like this - we need this message given to the children in Asia and Africa and S. America as well. Miracles can be achieved by good education. How many ancient trees are now left?
my wife is British and i never have the chance to visit the UK, ofcourse i want to see London, Liverpool,Scotland wales and so on but what i really wants to be is in parks and gardens like Richmond park, thanks to Sir Attenborough for helping me put a new goal to my list.
wow what was his role in the making? I was lucky enough to meet Sir David On Tuesday when he visited Hampton Court Palace! Managed to have a chat and get quick pic. Truly a great man.
I've lived round the corner of Richmond Park my entire life, can see the trees from my bedroom window, I've always loved it and knew it was amazing, but as always, in anything David Attenborough does, he makes it beyond that. Much love for a place I hold so dear
its amazing, that this park, is so accessible, by car, bike, foot, and occasional bus. and its free, with free parking! -in London! how about that. its my favourite place to wander, with a camera. Long may it remain!
The older the tree, the greater the variety of animals drawn to it. What precious creatures are the few left beyond extinction. I once new an oak tree in Leytonstone, London. It was protected by the neighbours who's back gardens radiated from it. So there, surrounded by maisonettes, mosques, shops, lived foxcubs in the roots in winter, bats in summer, spiders, frogs... the gardens brimmed and that tree was over 200 years old then...a survivor of Epping Forest. That tree holds so much grace, story, and supports and is supported by a rich ecology.. a habitat. So Richmond Park, Hampstead Heath, Epping Forest...such places in London are so precious and their true value will brighten in the human mind as we watch more and more loss of other animal life to the point that we revalue ourselves as animals.
I lived for 4 years in Richmond, I left 3 years ago, there are many things that I miss from Richmond and London, but there is nothing that I miss more than Richmond Park...
I used to walk there with my father from the eighties onwards. Long chats of son learning from father..I miss him but showed my wife all around the park including looking through the telescope
Not only has David enjoyed a life being fascinated by this wonderful natural world, but he has devoted his time to SHARE it with others, perhaps this is why we ALL appreciate who this man that we all say is so GREAT, is. Hats off to all lovers of Davids documentaries, as well as the hat off to David.
@@pigeonlove I doubt the cameramen, gaffers, sound board people, video editors and everyone else worked on it for free either. Why do people demand celebrities work for free just because it is a good cause? Do you assume that he is rich because he does a lot of documentaries?
@@nikkiewhite476 I was not demanding anything, merely pointing out that making a certain type of documentary is his preferred method to getting rich rather than selfless devotion to a cause, that is all
Couldn't love this more. Just fabulous. Hopefully, people will listen to Sir David's words and not treat our beautiful park like a theme park and petting zoo.
Whenever I visit London I visit Richmond Park to photograph the wildlife, particularly the deer. Like other UK deer parks, there is nowhere here in Australia where such an opportunity exists. I use long lenses, move about carefully and keep a respectful distance so as not to disturb the animals. Unfortunately not all visitors show such respect, I suspect because they have little knowledge of wildlife. Richmond Park is an international treasure where people can observe and learn. Thank you David for this film about a place which is very dear to my heart.
Wonderful wonderful film about a sacred place. When I attended Kingston University from 2003 to 2006 I spent as much time as I could there. It was magical.
18:37 - I can imagine another look at this footage, in a few centuries to come, with those trees and that path almost unrecognizable. I love Richmond Park, London and David Attenborough. All in all in a wonderful watch.
an utterly fantastic film, with the unique sir David, I have found this film very moving, great too see sir David's love of it! beautiful beyond words and just as exciting as any of sir David's other films. a fantastic place, and a national treasure, who could ask for anything more.
Already seen the shorter version of this film - which is superb. I have lived near Richmond Park all my life, and go there quite often. Wonderful place... and am a great admirer of Sir David Attenborough's work - TV and writings. Enjoying the longer film version now!
I lived next to Richmond park all my life, it has had a huge impact on the way I live and how I view nature. I truly hope it continues to enrich the lives of more generations for many centuries to come.
A fantastic film reminding us that we are so lucky to live beside this lovely Park. Also a great reminder that we and more occasional visitors need to do all we can to protect this great resource.
I come back to this video everyday. I cycle here all the time. I hate London but its necessary for me. This really is the only place I can truly relax.
I love Sir David. His voice can both soothe me to sleep or keep me on the edge of my seat. I wonder, hope, he's done a documentary similar to this in the U.S.A. I'm going to keep looking.
Just a great film, hard to fault it. Clearly a lot of work put into the production of the film, David Attenborough just adds to the grand tour of the park!
A beautiful place and true words spoken by a truly beautiful man ❤️ ........... (I think all dogs should be always kept on leads within the parks boundaries)
When you dont have much wild places you become protective.A lesson for wildlife rich countries who think they have so much that they afford to lose it.Every acre matters.
Sir David, you are such an inspiration. I would love to spend a few days with you, just to get to know a bit more about you and the natural world. God bless you Sir.
People in london would be shocked if they understood the management into this place to keep it all flourishing. People should understand that we are a part of nature, not seperate.
You're so lucky to have gotten Sir Attenborough to present this. I have never been to London, or even Europe, but I've seen lots of pictures showing the effect of such a high population of people in such a small country (the UK has about double the population of all of Canada!), so I'm so glad to see that this space has been set aside for everyone to enjoy, and for all the animals to continue where they have lived for centurries. Thank you for a great video!
This is a piece of work to be proud of - a compelling balanced film, gently but persuasively told. We will definitely promote it. Congratulations to George and the rest of the team.
I agree with the message here. I think it would be helpful to have this documentary aired on a public service channel annually. Perhaps permanently available on BBC iPLayer?
I love this park. Living in London for two years it felt like a privilege to cycle up there from the centre many times.Thank you Sir David Attenborough for this beautiful presentation.
Spent the afternoon there today. I am gobsmacked and blessed to have seen it and enjoyed it. Richmond feels like home to me now. It has the same vast and quiet feeling of a huge park from my youth in America, Bidwell Park, of Chico, California, the third largest municipal park in the US. The '38 "Robin Hood" was filmed there and one of my landlords was in that film. He had some great stories about Errol Flynn, Basil Rathbone and Alan Hale, Sr.
I think that wonderful advice could be said for just about anywhere. Especially places where so many other people go. Thank you, Sir David, for teaching people to tred lightly.
Very dear David Our National Treasure Whom we love and cherish . Seen through your eyes Richmond Park is far more beautiful than my memorises as a girl.
