Prince Süleyman receives the bad news as he's on hunting with his right-hand man İbrahim of Parga that his father Selim the Resolute deceased. Prince Süleyman sets off on his way to Istanbul at once. Prince Süleyman arrives to the capital city sharply. He immediately attends to the ceremony of accession to the throne. His whole life changes on a day and he starts to his sultan life as Sultan Süleyman.
Alex is brought to Topkapı Palace although her rebelliousness. Her attitude calls Sultana's attention from the very beginning. However, Alex learns the rules of the palace in very short time. She raises her sights. Alex becomes successful with attracting Sultan Süleyman's attention at the night he sees her for the first time. In the mean time, Sultan Süleyman's wife Mahidevran comes from Manisa Palace and looks forward to see his husband.
At the age of 26, when he ascended to the throne, Sultan Suleiman aimed to build an empire more powerful than Alexander the Great and to render the Ottomans invincible. Throughout his 46-year reign, he became the greatest warrior and ruler of both East and West.
The young Suleiman received news of his succession to the throne during a hunting party in 1520. Unaware that he would be ruling a reign beyond his dreams, he left behind his wife son and took to the road with his close friend and companion Pargali Ibrahim to reach the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul. As they started their journey overland, an Ottoman ship set sail from Crimea in the Black Sea, bringing female slaves as gifts for the Ottoman palace… On this ship was Alexandra La Rossa, the daughter of a Ukrainian Orthodox minister, taken away from her family and sold to the Crimean palace. She had no idea that she would become Hurrem, wife of Sultan Suleiman and mother of princes, ruling the empire with him through bloodshed and intrigue.
As Sultan Suleiman conquered the world, his great passion for Hurrem would clash with his love for and trust in his closest friend and advisor, Grand Vizier Pargali Ibrahim, all set against the backdrop of the tension between Christian Europe and the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century.

This one of my favorite scenes: The news being brought to Suleiman announcing he is the new ruler of the Ottoman Empire.
Question for the historians (i know y’all will appear eventually):
Did Suleiman have any competition for the Ottoman empire or was he the only son?
He was technically the only son so no brother competition. He did have a half brother who was alive at the time, but he was not in line because the concubine who gave birth to him was married off before his birth because she was being unruly and disruptive in the harem. Suleiman did keep a close eye on his brother, but it is said when he died (I think during a war) that Suleiman wept and said he was my brother.
He did have competition from cousins tho.
Sultan Selim had 6 sons, including Suleiman. But 4 of his sons died young and the fifth grew up with a stepfather. And according to the ottoman law of succession, the sultan sons who grow up with stepfathers have no right to the throne. So Suleiman was the only one of sultan Selim's sons who could claim the throne
He has a brother however not inline with the thrown or casted off to some reasons unknown
@@beatrizobien8091 I think that sultan Selim married off the boy's mother to someone else while she was pregnant. That means that this particular Prince was excluded from the line of succession
@@beatrizobien8091 you must be talking about Üveys Pasha (1512-1547). He was one illegitimate son of Sultan Selim (Suleiman's dad). You see, the concubine with whom Selim sired Uveys, due to her undisciplined mannerism was married off while pregnant and thus Üveys grew up with a stepfather.Üveys laid no claim to throne because of Ottoman tradition which states that princes born to a stepfather have no right to ascend to throne.
I love how Ibrahim is just so happy to serve Suleiman when he doesn't have co-sultan status as Grand Vizier

This Suleiman was my favourite. Even when Hürrem came into his life, he didn’t kick out Ibrahim or Mustafa either. Only person that he made upset was Mahidevran, but who cares about her 😂

Ibrahim knows and understands how important is to maintain links with your past self. And yet for no reason beyond pure cruelty he's going to end this season by denying that exact thing to another convert. I still don't like him. (To the credit of said convert, she never completely severed those links and that fact was always one of her best and most human qualities - contributing to how much love and family meant to her, her protectiveness as a mother and her charity work)
