  • We start our road trip from downtown Montreal, driving by the impressive entrance of McGill University, one of the top-ranked universities in Canada. We drive by La Fontaine Park, a beautiful green space with a large pond and a fountain. We will then head to the Plateau Mont-Royal district, a trendy and artistic neighborhood with colorful murals and cozy cafes, on Mont-Royal Ave East, where we have a delicious brunch at a local restaurant. We will sample some of the best Montreal bagels and smoked meat sandwiches that can be found in this area.
We then drive to Habitat 67, a striking architectural complex comprising 354 stacked modular units. It was designed by Moshe Safdie for the 1967 World Expo and is now a residential landmark. A very cool and innovative design by the St. Lawrence River.
We then head towards Parc Jean-Drapeau and Notre Dame Island, two islands that host many cultural and recreational activities. We drive past the Montreal Casino entrance onto the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, the F1 race track that hosts the Canadian Grand Prix. We will feel the thrill of driving on the same track as the world's best drivers.
We go by the Biosphere, Environment Museum, and a geodesic dome that was also built for the 1967 World Expo. It is now a museum that showcases environmental issues and solutions.
We then cross the Jacques-Cartier Bridge, a steel truss bridge that connects Montreal to the south shore. The bridge offers a stunning view of the city skyline and the river when headed towards the city. It is also illuminated at night with dynamic lights that change according to the seasons and events.
We then drive into Longueuil, a suburban city with a mix of urban and rural areas. We go to St-Bruno-de-Montarville, a smaller city that is known for its ski resort and nature park. Here, we take a small drive through its neighborhoods to get a feel for the place before heading to Costco, also in St-Bruno, where we will stock up on some snacks and supplies for the rest of our trip.
We then drive through Saint-Basile-le-Grand, McMasterville, to Beloeil, a small city located on the banks of the Richelieu River. We drive on the main road where most of the city's restaurants and shops line the main street.
We then drive over the Richelieu River into St-Hilaire. St-Hilaire is a picturesque town nestled at the foot of Mont Saint-Hilaire. We do cut through one more small town, Otterburn Park, before making our way back into St-Hilaire.
Enjoy exploring the different destinations and discovering the diversity of Montreal and the south shore. See you on another road trip soon!
