Oh there is nothing more fun than cross stitch shop shopping! I'm glad you got to experience your first one! My favorite is my own local stitchy store, The Crafty Ewe in Broadview Hts., Ohio. If you are ever out east, you need to visit. The shop has all that you need with lovely ladies to help. My mom use to cross stitch but I could never get the hang of it back then. I was too busy working and raising our daughter. But mom would head off to The Crafty Ewe to buy her supplies and get her things framed. I would never have guessed that I would pick it up years later but it's extra special to go the shop my mom visited all the time.
Thank you for sharing. Do not have any b and m near me, but my two favorite online stores are Colorado Cross Stitcher and Lindsay Stitches. The best way I have to explore patterns is on line. The patterns can be a never ending story. Hope this is the first chapter in a never ending cross stitch story. Take care and have a great adventure.
Hi Vicki, It's great to hear what your favorite online stores are. I haven't yet visited the Colorado Cross Stitcher so I'll have to check that one out. I do love visiting Lindy Stitches as well. 😊 I appreciate you stopping by and leaving your comments! They were enjoyable to read.
Oh girl, I can absolutely relate to you. I’m vacationing in Branson, Missouri and just got to visit my first needleworks shop. I normally shop online so when I entered Cecelia’s Samplers here in Branson I was overwhelmed. I bought a few patterns and it was lovely to have someone help pull the threads and help me pick out fabrics. I visited the shop a second time so i could see what I missed which of course meant buying more patterns and floss! I hope to be able to visit the Attic one day. I’m still trying to decide what fabric and count stitch I like best. Thank you for your lovely videos!
As a primary Aida stitcher, I completely love the perfect fabric choices you made for your MOM!! You are a love❤ and your husbands comment brought tears to my eyes, as I really enjoyed going along with you to the Attic. I dont have an LNS here but I used to, many years ago❤
Its great to know you liked the Aida! It’s a wonderful fabric and one my mom loves and I do too. ☺️ I’m so glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for coming along! 🛍️
Thanks for sharing your adventure! I live in Tacoma, WA and my LNS is Threadneedle Street in Issaquah, WA (about an hour drive) and I went for the first time just last week! It was top of my list when our kiddo started full-time school 😊 It’s truly a heavenly experience, the first time stepping foot into a stitching shop. Being able to chat in person with others who feel the same joy is priceless! I stocked my fabric stash and finished kitting up three patterns I brought from home … patiently waiting to go back in a justified amount of time hehe ❤
Jennifer, How wonderful that you got to go to your local cross stitch shop for the first time and kit up those new projects. It sounds like a truly wonderful experience! Thank you for sharing.
That was a great video! The Attic is very, very far away for me! I am very lucky to have a great LNS - only ten miles from me - In Stitches in Alexandria, VA. I’ve been shopping there for nearly 40 years. They have a great selection and have a Stitch Night twice a month. Highly recommend for anyone visiting the DC area.
I love your choices! I have been to The Attic once (I live in MN) and treasure the experience. Not sure if I’ll be lucky enough to go again, but I treasure the project I bought there. Love your channel, and look forward to more!
It sounds like it would have been a really special trip, Lisa. What a meaningful memory to have that project to remind you of it. Thank you for watching and stopping by!
Oh my goodness! I feel like I’ve found a pot of gold in you! What a fabulous video. I’m going to head straight to first one and binge watch. It was so heartwarming to find another stitcher that is frugal. I, too, stitch designs that speak to my heart. I’m also a huge reader and anxious to hear more about your books! Thank you for sharing.
Oh my word, Ginger, your comment truly touched my heart and gave me a smile! Thank you so much for your kind words and watching this video and the others. I hope you enjoy them! And it's always a delight to meet people who love to read! I write historical inspirational romance mostly, and ALL my books are on my website or on Amazon. :) I hope there's one that might be up your reading alley! 📚🍂
I live in northern California and took a girls' trip to the Attic this week. It was such an amazing store! Loved the walls and the ladies there. We loved it so much, we went back a second day before we came home. Thanks for sharing your haul.
Susan, It sounds like you had an incredible trip! How lovely to be there with your friends and make those special memories. I'm so glad you found this video and enjoyed it. I'm sure we will both be looking forward to our next trip to the Attic :)
This was lovely and so much fun! You have inspired me to look for some of the charts that you bought, and I loved the driftwood fabric. Thanks for the great video and for the beautiful intro. Oh, and I just recently ordered your book, "The Gold in these Hills" and it will be the next book that I start. 🙂
Sandy, It was great having you 'along' on this video and to know that you enjoyed seeing the fabric. The driftwood Aida was one of my favorites too. I'm so glad you found my channel AND books and truly hope you enjoy "The Gold in These Hills" 😊📙
Okay, I commented earlier tonight that I had just watched 1 and 2, now I’ve watched 3 and 4. Ha ha. You are adorable. I love your enthusiasm. I’m totally jealous you got to go to The Attic! My LNS is The Silver Needle in Tulsa. It’s pretty awesome too. Love your goodies and hearing about your thought process!
Just thrilled by that! It's such a special place to get to meet new people and share this love of stitching. I'm so glad you found me here and your local LNS sounds lovely! Happy stitching, Julie!
Oh what fun for you! I’m so glad you had such a great time at your first needlework shop. How sweet you were able to shop for your Mom as well…and hopefully she’ll do a video appearance someday 😊. I live in Findlay OH and our LNS is the Craft Gallery which I’ve been shopping at for 41 years! Teresa Kogut has quite a bit of her models framed there; she is the loveliest person to meet. Enjoy all your goodies and look forward to seeing what you stitch. - Anne
Anne, I really appreciate your kind words. Shopping for my mom definitely made it more fun and I am hoping to have her on some time! Wow, it sounds so special to see Teresa Kogut’s samples. I bet they are beautiful! I hope you enjoy your stitching this week. 🧵 😊
So happy you got to visit The attic and support a LNS. the Attic is just down the street from my house - they are lovely ladies over there. And yes, you did see 50+ count - they love to stitch tiny counts for their samplers. I can get lost in that amazing story for sure. You picked up some great goodies - thanks for sharing your haul.
Oooh, it’s nice to know I hadn’t imagined the 50 count+ fabrics!! I bet it’s wonderful being so close to such a lovely cross stitch store. What fun! Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. I enjoyed it!
Oh how I wish I was with you. It's my dream to go to the attic. But I'm so far away. But I can go with you thru the videos you show. It's the next best thing to being there lol. Thank you for showing us your beautiful haul. I just found you. And I subscribed. So I will be waiting for your next video. God bless Linda from Rhode Island
Linda, How nice to have you follow along on the Attic shopping day. So glad you got to enjoy it this way. I appreciate you watching and subscribing! I hope you enjoy the other videos and what's coming up. Happy stitching!
Hi Jill, So glad you joined me on the journey :) And I LOVED seeing your hand dyed linens this past week. Your beautiful nod to Utah is evident and they are so gorgeous. Wishing you the best on the adventure!
So happy I found your RUclips channel. I’m very familiar with the Attic (Daughter lives in Phoenix) and was happy to see your video visit. Now I’m getting caught up on all your videos! Thoroughly enjoying your cross stitch experience. You live in California!! I live in Southern California! Soooo, you’re an author, that’s amazing!
Mila, It’s lovely to know you enjoyed the video and have the others in your watch cue. I hope you have lots of fun stitching along to them and thank you for your kind words about my books!
Joanne, I am truly so so happy for you, I live in Tucson and next weekend I’ll be at The Attic…..cannot wait!!!! Thank you so much for bringing us with you! 💚
This was such an enjoyable video!! My local cross stitch shop (Fire Poppies in Summerville, SC) closed 2 years ago and I miss it so much! I love your choice of fabrics! I’ve stitched on 32 ct vintage country mocha and Vintage Smokey White and they are both a dream to stitch on! Good choices! Looking forward to seeing your new patterns come to life on them. Stitchers Paradise is a LNS in Las Vegas~ don’t know how far you are from that.
Kim, I have not been to the shop in Las Vegas but I do sometimes pass through there so definitely have it on my list for another shop to visit. I'm glad you mentioned it. I agree of how nice those fabrics are to stitch on. I particularly love the smoky white as it's a new color to me. Thanks so much for stopping by and happy stitching! 🍂
Thank you for sharing your hall with us. I can’t wait to see your finished products. I really appreciate the fact that you are very budget minded and you are showing people it’s OK to not get everything that you want but being mindful with what you do purchase. ❤
Hi Tammi! I enjoyed your first floss tube! And thank you -- that's encouraging to hear. I kept thinking that I wanted to have fun but reasonably and that's why it took me 2 1/2 hours, LOL. It's worth it to have treasures that mean the most. Happy stitching and I look forward to more from your channel. 🙂
@@Joanne_TheStoryStitcher thank you so much for the kind words Joanne 😁 I also enjoy watching yours. You’re so calming 😅😁 the Lord knows I need that in my brain.
Oh my goodness, I just watched this extra flosstube, which I enjoyed immensely, not realizing that I had come upon one of my new favorite authors! I recently finished the audible versions of Sons of Blackbird Mountain and its sequel Daughter's of the Northern Shore (i think those were the titles, please forgive me if I messed up the titles). I loved the stories, even dragging my reading out as I did not want them to end. How delightful to learn that you are also a stitcher! I enjoyed hearing about your trip to The Attic! I do not have a LNS nearby so I rely on our fabulous internet options! I look forward to catching up on your prior flosstubes....and welcome to the flosstube community!
Debbie, I am so thrilled that you’ve been enjoying the Blackbird Mountain books. Thank you for reading them and for your kind words! Extra lovely that you found me here on Flosstube and enjoyed the Attic video. So glad to connect with you here!
Hi! I enjoyed your FlossTube and your trip to the Attic!! What fun!! I don't have a store near me that specializes in Counted Cross Stitch so it was fun to go along with you on your journey!! I'm going to look for your books at my library... I love Historical Romance😊💗♥️
Hi Jan, I'm really glad you got to come along on the journey as well. I relate to not having a cross stitch store nearby also. And oh, how lovely - I hope you find one at your library and if for any reason they don't carry it, you can often ask your librarian to stock a copy and they usually will! ☺📚

Use forty count now because as you age your eyes get weaker. I have very good eyesight for a person my age. I started a sampler in my forties, life happened and I never finished it. I’m now in my seventies picked it up the other day, tried stitching and had a hard time seeing the forty count threads. Enjoy while you can.

I don’t have a LNS. I purchase supplies at FQS or 123Stitch. Also, pick up DMC and do my framing at Hobby Lobby.
Kristi, I do the same thing! :)
I do have the cutest quilt shop close by. I’m a quilter and paper crafter/scrapbooker, too.
PS. You can do a forty count. Not much different than the larger count. Please give it a try. 🙂🙂
Good to know! I'll look forward to getting some 40 count.
I look forward to learning how to stitch on 40 count. 🙂 I'm new to cross stitch so am starting to build my way up and definitely hope to get there!
I want to be your mother, perfect choices.
Hi Nora, this gave me a smile. So glad you enjoyed it!
