Wonderful video🇺🇸. Thank you for tellung the stories of our heros. My dad Joe Sharkey was on the Yorktown 42-45. He was also ship board director of the association. It was his wish the next generations would know the history of the navy and his fighting lady. 🇺🇸💕.
I have to see everything about this ship in Charleston. One night, I believe in 1975, I was put in charge of a crew from the USS ORION to help tie her up when she was delivered to Patriots Point. It was interesting to see the old girl get to her resting point! Miss the old Cooper river bridge (kinda).
Love this old school documentary. Honorably Served US Coast Guard 78-84 small boat SAR. Nothing but respect for the men who served on the Yorktown. All them boys had balls of steel in the Pacific Theater. Proud American Patriots...Sons of Liberty. God bless America. God bless our constitution and what we stand for. Home of the brave.
Thank you for your comment, and for your service! These men definitely put themselves in harms way, and we are lucky to have this museum at Patriots Point.
Visited the Yorktown twice . The last time we went I paid for the guided tour . It was worth the money the tour guide was great . They are all pros and know what they are talking about
I still need to do the guided tour; most of the time that I go I have my son with me in a stroller, so I can only visit part of the ship. The audio tour that you can purchase on your cell phone is great
I slept in the bunks twice when I was in the boy scouts. Later my buddy's wedding rehearsal dinner was held on the flight deck, and my first new year's eve with my now-wife was on this ship, 10 years ago. Needless to say, the Yorktown has been a pretty important part of my life.
Love your video. I'm sorry you weren't able to add our little detour to North Korea when they grabbed the USS Pueblo. That was a rather tense time for those of us on board.
Hello, I did do some research into that situation, and it looked very interesting! I couldn't find much for photo/video, so unfortunately I left it out, along with a few other things that I wanted to include (typhoon cobra, etc...)

Thank you, Barbara! I am glad that you liked the video, and hope that Joe would approve :)

I toured Patriots Point on July 4th 1983 while stationed on USS Semmes DDG 18 in Charleston Naval Station.
Great show- informative & very well done .
I wish my brother and his wife would have bought their house across from CN through you. Great story telling.
Thank you! I’m glad that you liked it!

I'll see you at the Yorktown video too.
I was on the Yorktown and the Laffey last year.
While I served on Tin Cans in the 60's, we did many escort duties with that Grand Ole Lady. ❤
The fighting lady was the Enterprise..
The Enterprise was "The Big E"
