I love this scene, cause Sonny is so much like the father the real AJ Buckley is... he is amazing, and it shows the strength of such a powerful actor....
Tom Ciou, plays Micheal Chen, quite probably the blackest SEAL in that TV show. I wonder of they wanted a real over the top black character, realized it was over the top and said "We'll hire the Asian Guy and keep the original scripting, that'l worK!" I keep expecting his character to pick up a 40 ounce, and smoke a Philly blunt while listening to some Rap
I know it's a time honoured movie tradition.... "we'll bring him home safe", etc.... but I can't think of a single, more reckless, irresponsible thing to say to a child in that situation. He has no ability to determine the outcome and to make a promise to anyone that you can't fulfill, let alone a vulnerable child, is just fucking stupid.
Realistically - What else would you reasonably say? I know it's promising a lot that is outside of his control, But what else do you say to a child in that situation?
Sonnys always got comfort for the kids, he gave words of comfort to Mikey when his mothers died...he's a good guy

Completely agree. That's how you break kid's hearts and shatter them completely if things don't turn out the way you wanted it to.
Then don’t watch the show cause there is gonna be a lot of this lol
