I pledged allegiance to the queen when I was given my Canadian Citizenship in Toronto in 1978. It was a ceremony where we sang both the Canadian anthem and God Save the Queen. I don't think you see that anymore!

I too find it interesting to watch from afar--although technically it's my monarchy too as Canada is a commonwealth Realm. I actually didn't pay attention until Harry and Meghan moved here in 2019. At first I completely fell for their sob stories. Confessions of a Former Sugar. But they did a lot of terrible things in Canada and by 2020 I was happy and proud Canada was the first country to revoke their IPP status. Sorry to our southern neighbors though: they moved to California as soon as we stopped paying for their private jets and five star hotels (that they were passing off as security, personal expenses making up half of their $30 million a year bill they expected Canadian taxpayers to keep paying indefinitely.) Now I follow what they are doing so I can warn others of their grifting, and make up for the days I defended them on social media. Every day. *sigh* But also because it's a "soap opera."

Harry does a lot of harm with all the power and privilege he has been given. He uses his bully pulpit to say whatever serves his own agenda, and is insensitive and tonedeaf and uncaring of the consequences of his greatly amplified words. Such as glorifying drugs in a country with 92,000 deaths from overdose a year, the dead being young people, average age 21. So many are teenagers, tragically. And the deaths are the tip of the iceberg, addiction and drugs ruin lives. Like many in North America I have personal reasons to feel very strongly about this! Harry and Meghan keep getting away with dishonest and dishonorable behaviour. I would be so happy if this is what finally made them face the consequences of their actions. So long as the ensuing visa issues don't make them move back to Canada. They did some really dishonest and dishonorable things here. There are good reasons why only 3% of us voted to keep paying their "security" and Canada was the first country to revoke their IPP status. For starters, they pulled the IPP scam of charging their luxury personal expenses to their security bill, $15 million out of $30 million a year. Such as private jets taken for private luxury vacations and profiteering, like charging Canadian taxpayers almost $500,000--$270,000 just for the private jet--to luxuriate in Miami and pocket a $500,000 appearance fee from a banking convention. That's just one example. They keep getting away with it, it's time they are called to account. I'm rooting for you America!

In fact the EU had only 5,800 overdose deaths in 2020 which I think proves that Western society as a whole does not have a raging problem, American society however does.....

I watched the interview of Princess Anne and didn't hear a a word of irritation with her brother. She defended the Monarchy and said the role of the Royals is to support the Monarch. Plus it's safe to assume she and King Charles are both aware the Monarchy is already slimmed down. I agree that she was irritated with the question. She accused the interviewer of "putting words into her mouth".
Considering how much older the current working royals are, the Monarchy is already being slimmed down. William and Catherine can't perform. all the current duties of all the older working royals who perform duties now with only Edward and Sofie to help with duties in future years. It's not realistic. There will either be fewer appearances total or other younger royals will have to be doing duties too.

The pushing forward of Camilla as Queen vs queen consort as QEII stated is a huge mistake by Charles. Not having Catherine wear a tiara is obviously trying to not have the future queen Catherine upstage Camilla as Catherine is the most popular royal. QEII did not push Phillip forward in this way and kept him as a Prince and Duke. Catherine will be a true Queen and Queen mother of the heirs and first wife of William. No divorce. It must be so challenging for William seeing Camilla crowned as Queen while remembering her role in Diana's unhappiness. Deep respect for William and Catherine for their respectful integrity and doing duty and they are the future of the Monarchy.

I have to agree with Richard Eden for a change. I don't understand the coronation changes at all - not inviting the heriditary peerage, not allowing for crowns and tiaras, ceremonial robes, or coming in your horse and carriage.
Because of health and safety there is not enough room in the Abbey to invite the same number as attended the Queen’s Coronation. Thee pledge of allegiance to the King is optional it has been done to make people feeling included, if you don’t want to make the pledge then you are not forced to.
If Charles makes his coronation ALL about anointing & crowning Camilla as Queen & not having any other royals wear tiaras - he will undermine his reign from the outset. Camilla is his 2nd wife after a long adulterous affair & has no significance in LOS. QEII was the QUEEN. I completely agree with Sara that it was a HUGE mistake that Charles was not allowed to marry Camilla in the first place. I loved Diana but I reckon that HMQ eventually regretted that decision. The late Queen, God rest her soul, made very few missteps but that was one of them. But because of Diana we have William and Charles eventually married Camilla. Sometimes life is just complicated. I can't blame the late queen, it was a different time and the royal family had different rules. Diana was young and was being used. If one is to be blamed, it was Charles for marrying her when he had a lover on his side. Diana was a people's princess and would have made a wonderful queen, no rehabilitation with the media necessary. I feel sorry for her and thank her for giving us William.

I think the comment of a "slimmed down monarchy" refered to skinny down ALL the palaces staff and operating expenses as well not just the number of working royals. Charles appears to want to get more value out of all the palaces and crown properties in order to generate more revenue.

Charles and Camilla are very a compatable couple similar to William and Kate. It feels like both of those women would have married these men regardless of their future roles as King of the UK. There is some misinformation here. 1. Camilla married APB because that's who she wanted then. Charles didn't even broach marrying Camilla with the RF then. It would be interesting to see how it would have played out had Camilla not been set on APB at the time. 2. Charles didn't make decree Camilla Queen, she obtained the title by law as the wife of a King. Also, previous consorts have been anointed, this is not new. 3. Decades of documentation, from Harry himself, contradict his newfound "truth." The disharmony in the family did not start with Camilla.
APB was quite the catch. He was a page boy in the Queen's coronation and long had equerry or equerry like roles. He was Commander of the Household Calvary at one point, I think.
Charles spoke to Lord Mountbatten about marrying Camilla and he said she was not an appropriate bride for a future King. It was suggested he actually hoped the then P Charles would marry his Grand Daughter.

From where I sit (across the pond) Young Charles and Mature Charles are really both right. As a young man, he _did_ have loads of relatives to guide him as he grew into his role. While he still has his mother's cousins, he's now the elder statesman guiding his son. Also, he's not blind to the changing sentiments of his people. He knows many see the monarchy as an unnecessary expense and needs to prove their worth by providing value for money. He needs to get as big a bang from fewer people living off the government purse.

Prince Willing can always reinstate certain things that Charles has chosen to cut back. I feel nearly all media seem to blow things up or out of proportion. The Princess Royals’ interview was completely authentic. But people mistake her forthrightness as being stern or critical. People are so sensitive. She was asked a question and answered it honestly. She is always savvy enough to NOT make blanket statement or sweeping generalisations yet the headlines and click bait headers wrap things up in 5 words or fewer and regularly have a negative take to them. Then commentators chew over them and very quickly, negative or slightly misleading stories appear, taken as gospel.

I think the media is reading too much into Princess Anne’s comments. I watched the entire interview and thought it rather pleasant. I didn’t see her looking upset or perturbed in any way. She is there to support her brother and her family however she is needed.
I was annoyed with the interviewers questions, verged on disrespectful to say the least, felt like someone who wants to exit the Commonwealth. Loved the Princess Royals answers, she put her in her place, but saw a twinge of annoyance cross her face, and I don't blame her. Long Live The King. I know where my allegiance lies, and that's with my King and the working Royals.

I am American of English ancestry on both sides. I really don’t have skin in the game but think it is important to maintain our heritage and history, in every country. Of course every culture changes with time but we also need keep our history and traditions. Don’t get rid of the monarchy. Changes are speeding along too fast here.

Charles and Diana would NEVER have lasted until now even if Camilla had never been born. I actually didn't pay attention until Harry and Meghan moved here in 2019. At first I completely fell for their sob stories. Confessions of a Former Sugar. But they did a lot of terrible things in Canada and by 2020 I was happy and proud Canada was the first country to revoke their IPP status. Sorry to our southern neighbors though: they moved to California as soon as we stopped paying for their private jets and five star hotels (that they were passing off as security, personal expenses making up half of their $30 million a year bill they expected Canadian taxpayers to keep paying indefinitely.)

Such as private jets taken for private luxury vacations and profiteering, like charging Canadian taxpayers almost $500,000--$270,000 just for the private jet--to luxuriate in Miami and pocket a $500,000 appearance fee from a banking convention. That's just one example. They keep getting away with it, it's time they are called to account. I'm rooting for you America!

I watched the interview of Princess Anne and didn't hear a a word of irritation with her brother. She defended the Monarchy and said the role of the Royals is to support the Monarch. Plus it's safe to assume she and King Charles are both aware the Monarchy is already slimmed down. I agree that she was irritated with the question. She accused the interviewer of "putting words into her mouth".
Considering how much older the current working royals are, the Monarchy is already being slimmed down. William and Catherine can't perform. all the current duties of all the older working royals who perform duties now with only Edward and Sofie to help with duties in future years. It's not realistic. There will either be fewer appearances total or other younger royals will have to be doing duties too.

The pushing forward of Camilla as Queen vs queen consort as QEII stated is a huge mistake by Charles. Not having Catherine wear a tiara is obviously trying to not have the future queen Catherine upstage Camilla as Catherine is the most popular royal. QEII did not push Phillip forward in this way and kept him as a Prince and Duke. Catherine will be a true Queen and Queen mother of the heirs and first wife of William. No divorce. It must be so challenging for William seeing Camilla crowned as Queen while remembering her role in Diana's unhappiness. Deep respect for William and Catherine for their respectful integrity and doing duty and they are the future of the Monarchy.

I completely agree with Sara that it was a HUGE mistake that Charles was not allowed to marry Camilla in the first place. I loved Diana but I reckon that HMQ eventually regretted that decision. 1. Camilla married APB because that's who she wanted then. Charles didn't even broach marrying Camilla with the RF then. It would be interesting to see how it would have played out had Camilla not been set on APB at the time.
2. Charles didn't make decree Camilla Queen, she obtained the title by law as the wife of a King. Also, previous consorts have been anointed, this is not new.
3. Decades of documentation, from Harry himself, contradict his newfound "truth." The disharmony in the family did not start with Camilla.

From where I sit (across the pond) Young Charles and Mature Charles are really both right. As a young man, he _did_ have loads of relatives to guide him as he grew into his role. While he still has his mother's cousins, he's now the elder statesman guiding his son. Also, he's not blind to the changing sentiments of his people. He knows many see the monarchy as an unnecessary expense and needs to prove their worth by providing value for money. He needs to get as big a bang from fewer people living off the government purse.

It seems with the number of Camilla"s family involved in the Ceremony,her sister,her best friend,numerous grandchildren and a nephew,and Catherine wearing flowers on her head,its more like a wedding.Enough already,bring out the gowns,the tiara's,the glitter, thats what the people are paying for.

and only Kings and Queens wear crowns, the other female members of the family wear tiaras

I feel nearly all media seem to blow things up or out of proportion. The Princess Royals’ interview was completely authentic. But people mistake her forthrightness as being stern or critical. People are so sensitive. She was asked a question and answered it honestly. She is always savvy enough to NOT make blanket statement or sweeping generalisations yet the headlines and click bait headers wrap things up in 5 words or fewer and regularly have a negative take to them. Then commentators chew over them and very quickly, negative or slightly misleading stories appear, taken as gospel.

I think the media is reading too much into Princess Anne’s comments. I watched the entire interview and thought it rather pleasant. I didn’t see her looking upset or perturbed in any way. She is there to support her brother and her family however she is needed.

I was annoyed with the interviewers questions, verged on disrespectful to say the least, felt like someone who wants to exit the Commonwealth. Loved the Princess Royals answers, she put her in her place, but saw a twinge of annoyance cross her face, and I don't blame her.

I am American of English ancestry on both sides. I really don’t have skin in the game but think it is important to maintain our heritage and history, in every country. Of course every culture changes with time but we also need keep our history and traditions. Don’t get rid of the monarchy. Changes are speeding along too fast here.

Charles and Diana would NEVER have lasted until now even if Camilla had never been born. Charles was intelligent, educated and like a quiet country life while Diana was like a silly teenager who liked parties noise and chaos. She was mentally unstable and unbelievably needy. I can't imagine any man who would want to live like that and that's why she could never hold on to any man after the sex.
