    Got a bit of a gypsy jazz/sinti swing feel to it with that chromatic bass run. Love it, awesome stuff mate.

      Cheers Tom! Ya I must try and and get a few more lessons like this posted. I love experimenting with the jazzy vibes. I don't often use it in sessions myself, but it's really a lot of fun to play around with and something I want to do more of.

    Really enjoyed this lesson; with the slash chords added into the progression it's a lot of fun. I get the muting using the LH ring finger on the one-finger d chord, but it becomes more challenging beginning with the F#7 on up, especially at tempo. Are you using the LH pinky? Anyway, thanks for this one!

    That's grand stuff. What tunes could this jazzy chord sequence back up?

    • @aodancoynemusic
      @aodancoynemusic  Год назад

      Hi Luca, I tend to use chords quite sparingly when playing tunes. But depending on what feel you want to bring to the music you can add in as much as you like for fun. Here's a great example of Jazz chords and sequences that can be used in Irish music, check out Cillian Doheny playing - ruclips.net/video/2fkU4nGuk2Q/видео.html From my own lessons, you could add in this sequence to bars 3 & 4 in part B1 of The Silver Spear reel. At 0.37 I slide from a G to an A chord. Instead you could try this sequence up the neck to give a jazzy feel to the end of part B1. Or you could do the same in bars 3 & 4 of part B2 at 0.47 where I just play an F♯m to G, you could try the whole sequence from the F♯m to F♯m7 to G etc before finishing the tune off. Hope that helps

    Have you any tunes that actually use this it would be nice to know them

    • @aodancoynemusic

      Hi Evan, good question. The tune example that I've been using with my students for this run has been towards the end of the B part of The Little Diamond Polka. It's a nice fun tune to add this moving bass line to. For the first time around I would just do half of the run (Maybe the D, F#7, G, D) Then on the last time around you could try link the whole run up all the way to the Bm before finishing on the D. The timing the run to work with the polka might take a bit of practice but can sound well. Hope that helps, here's The Little Diamond Polka - ruclips.net/video/nP_29BBfgbk/видео.html
